Guest Reviews
- NIURKA (10/5): - The place was in the center of two beaches, restaurants near by, store, nice price,
- melik Zourir (8/5): - small
- Sean (10/5): - Great little central motel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great value & location. Close to shops, restaurants and beach.
- Earl (6/5): OK place to stay - Restaurant nor bar were open at hotel, which is one of the main reasons I chose to stay there. So ended up having to constantly take Conchos to places to eat, I rented on my 2nd to last day because I thought it would save me money instead of paying a Concho.
Cable was out in room, did not get fixed till just before leaving. Toilet had problems flushing, never really got fixed, would have to try to flush repeatedly to get all paper or body waste to go down, most times there was still some in the toilet because I did not want to waste a bunch of my time trying to get it to go down. Safe in room did not work.
It is close to a hospital which makes it easy to get a Covid test though.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Muy bueno me encanto, buena comida, buen servicio.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The thing they show in pictures it’s not what they have.
- carmenabr (10/5): IS ALWAYS GOOD TO COME BACK - I've been visited this hotel everything I go to Las Terrenas. Always clean, great staff to serve, the breakfast is really good and healthy. You can ask them everything and they always have good attitude to assist.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was peaceful quiet and security was excellent i would recommend it to a friend
Ristorante pessimo
Colazione uguale
- james (8/5): - Hotel pool was refreshing and always empty. Plenty of seats. Bed was comfortable. A/c was cold in room. Workers were very nice and helpful.
- Francis147289 (8/5): Pleasant hotel to pass the night - We wanted somewhere to crash for the night and we found this hotel at Las Terrenas town. It is a very clean hotel and the rooms have been updated; for instance it has a flat TV, new bathroom accessories. It didn't have AC, only a ceiling fan, but this was my room choice, as I didn't want to spend too much. Keep in mind that this hotel is not located at beach front, it's located near the town entrance (about 10 miles from the beach).
The breakfast was pleasantly good and was included in the room price.
The outside corridors had lots of trees and were well maintained and the pool looked good, but I didn't use it.
I'm summary, the overall experience was great value for the price.
Pros.
Clean rooms
Affordable price
Good food
Well maintained exteriors with good landscaping
Cons
Not beach located
- CBrandt77 (8/5): Nice hotel in a bad town... - I paid $55/night. Credit cards accepted. Large comfortable room with large comfortable bed and spacious bathroom. Good A/C. Minifridge. Laboratory clean. Electronic safety box. Decent breakfast included at decent onsite restaurant. Huge, clean pool. Hotel is located close to guagua station to Sanchez/Samana/Galeras. Hotel is very far from beach area where most of the (very overpriced) restaurants are. Hotel does offer a shuttle service. You'll be safe and comfortable at this hotel, but Las Terrenas sucks--it is ugly, and noisy, and the beach/ocean is nothing special. (Punta Rucia is far nicer...)
- ceccej (4/5): For the heavy sleeper - I'm sure that if you get the right room it is a nice place. But we had our room next to the neighbours whom had two roosters that woke us up during the night... Also although they have put mosquitonets for the windows the mosquitos came in. You werent able to hear the tv because in the highst volume you didnt hear a thing. And the walls are so thin you can hear wverything the neighbours said .
- 207timos (10/5): I like! 😊 - Beautiful and clean hotel with wonderful green garden! Really nice and friedly staff! Helped us to organize taxi and enjoyed delicious presidente beer with them! Muchos gracias Amigos! Bob marley is with you!!!!!!!!!!! 😉
- Verified traveler (6/5): MY GET AWAY EXPERIENCE AT HOTEL PALOCOCO - IT WAS OK BUT I WAS MISLED ABOUT MY ROOM I PAID FOR A ROOM WITH A QUEEN BED AND DIDNT GET IT
- Verified traveler (4/5): Great staff!! Wrong location - Is located next to a stadium and all day is very noisy the music is loud and ends till midnight. If you look for a place to rest is not. You hear everything from the next room, awful and disgusting... you need a car.
- Hans10101 (6/5): Good value for money, but noisy - Nice place with bungalow style rooms around a quite large pool, Rooms with fan are cool at night, but noisy because of traffic and nearby music. Also noise from the neighbouring room is quite loud. They also have airco rooms that should be more quiet. But for the price we paid it was quite good. Very clean rooms and nice housekeeping staff. Breakfast is ok, but you need to ask. Juise was included, but the waiter didn't bring it till we asked. Pool is nice and there are 5 or 6 sunbeds.
- Joseph (8/5): - The price was 1/2 what you would pay for a Hotel in the beach area. You can travel by motorcycle to the beach for $1 US or rent a motor scooter for $15 per day. Great value for an Air conditioned room with pool with excellent restaurant and great breakfast for about $55 per day. A 250 yard walk to the bus area to travel to other parts of the country........I loved it there for the price.
- TrailBlazer91272 (2/5): Hustler hotel - The hotel in it self is really nice, the personal just really bring down the quality. When we tried to access the wifi the receptionist (hotel manager) was not to be found, he left and stayed as he pleased, when he turned up he gave us the wrong wifi code and was to proud to correct himself, it was only because one, one nice employee overheard the conversation and came over and corrected him.
In the morning we went to get the included breakfast, which the employees didn't seem to know anything about, after some time we convince them that there is an included breakfast. They apparently had a menu card showing what was included all along (hustling comes to mind). When they serve us they say that my two friends an I should share the equivalent of two scrambled egg. I get a hold of the menu card and explain what their own menu card says in detail before they give in a serve all of us the food we have paid for the night before....
Wouldn't expect that from a expensive place like this.
- Denisse0488 (8/5): Nice price for what you get - I found this hotel on tripadvisor, after reading all the comments decided to choose it. I traveled with friends and family, we had 3 rooms in total. You get what you paid for, the hotel is very clean, the room was ok again this is not a 5 stars hotel, but overall is worth the price. The only thing i would suggest the managament is that more people is needed at the restaurant, the food was very good but the service was very slow, and i understand is out of their hands. The breakfast had not very much variety but was good. Overall we enjoyed our stay, even we were out of the hotel most part of the day, but would recommend it
- Michelle (8/5): - We enjoyed this hotel; it is rated appropriately. We enjoyed the rooms, they had a cottage feel to it and the gardens were very pretty. We enjoyed the pool as well.
You are in the city, so there is a lot of traffic noise and a basket ball court behind the hotel. You are too far to walk to the beach but there are plenty of motoconchos to get a ride to the beach and restaurants.
The hotel also has a restaurant attached to it with a very nice menu.
- adrian & kenya (4/5): Medium hotel experience - No WiFi in the rooms, we had no.14... no privacy also... could hear absolutely everything my neightbour was doing... and vice versa probably... other than that... clean and nice...
- Verified traveler (8/5): Bien - Bien
- Kenneth (4/5): What kind of Rooster crows all night - I got a nice rate, the bar was nice and the pool was enjoyable, my room was dark a few of the lights didn't work. But the absolute worst was the rooster who lived behind my room crowed all night, I think he did it to get the dogs barking. No sleep at all. If I go to Las Terranes again I will spend a little more monet for a nicer pkay to stay.
- Soren Peter (10/5): Nice hotel - Nice clean pool and very friendly people. We enjoyed our stay and we would like to come back.
- morgus86 (10/5): Safe clean and beautiful at a good price. - I stayed here 3/23/15- 3/27/15. I have stayed here many times over the past ten years. a great pool, nice clean rooms with maid service daily. my friend lives in town and often I stay with him or at this hotel. It is safe and not too far of a ride to the beaches of Playa coson and playa bonita and the beaches in las terrenas. A day trip to see the waterfalls of Limon should not be missed. Good prices and a good breakfast and perfect coffee. so many nice plants and flowers and trees around the pool which is in the center of the grounds.
- HAFFE (6/5): Palococo is all right!! - The hotel is conveniently located in the town of "Las Terrenas" We were pleased with the service at the front desk and the people that clean the room. We were not pleased with the King size bed we received. Because it was actually two twin beds push together. One of the nights, there was not hot water. But, they quickly fixed it for us. The continental breakfast is joke. its basically an appetizer. Overall, I will recommend this hotel for the decent prize they charge
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great stay - Lovely hotel, small bungalows, friendly and helpful staff. Centrally located and a few mins walk from a huge supermarket. Would recommend.
- Sana (6/5): Decent hotel just for a night or 2 - This hotel has very small rooms but is decent for a night or two. We just used it for an overnight stay and it was ok. The place is nice and clean as well as the pool area. The hotel is about 5 min from one of the beaches in car but a bit of a walk if you don't have transportation.
The person at the restaurant was also nice. The included continental breakfast was average.
- Verified traveler (10/5): awesome - the condition is really good, and the town is also awesome. The manager of the owner speaks really slow spanish, easy to understand, and helpful as well. The breakfast of the hotel is really good.
We are very hapy!;-)
- Thomas (10/5): Great value. - Had a wonderful time at this hotel would highly recommend. It is only a short ride to the beach and all activities.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Scary neighborhood. - Cons:
Very Bad neighborhood.
Hotel staff don't speak English.
Located Next to an auditorium.
Difficult to find.
Pros:
Hotel is beautiful.
I booked this hotel because i needed something like bed and bath.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great Price, Great Stay! - Loved this Villa Style Hotel, I would recommend to family & friends. Also visit El Limon waterfall, it's a must see!
- Ruben_2012 (8/5): Nice Hotel.. Good for The Value - I stayed at the Palococo for one night. Basically the Hotel is on the entrance of Las Terrenas. I stayed at room 11. The room was clean and everything on the room worked as expected (hot water, A/C, ceiling fan and the small tv).
If you are a light sleeper bring your ear plugs because the hotel is on the main street of Las Terrenas and you hear the noise of the motocycles and also the roosters crowing start early on the morning.
The breakfast is inclusive and it was good. Restaurant staff was in between, the lady that took care of us was new hire and was kind of lost regarding to the breakfast choices. Reception staff was ok. Parking can be an issue, as there are not too many parking place.
Hotel is not close to the beach, however for a small amount of money you can take a "motoconcho" that takes you where the beaches are.
In general my experience was ok. I got what I paid for (was not expecting too much for a US$50 on Las Terrenas) and in this case Palococo was a very good experience for a night. I definitely would stay again if I have to.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A different experience - Although there was no air-conditioning, the room was very cool and comfortable at night, at least in January. The hotel staff were generally helpful. I also like this hotel for its general setup, which is sort of like villas.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Mycket bra!! - Mycket bra och mysigt hotell!!
- CristianG548 (8/5): A lovely stay... - well how can i start, My wife and i although we are from Dominican background we were both raise in USA. we decided to go to Palococo because we havent been to Las Terrenas before. All i want to say is that it was a wonderful wonderful stay. The Hotel was clean very clean. Martha is wonderful and very helpful. I was there about twro weeks ago and we had a wonderful time.
The restaurant, the service, the food all was good.
One thing i must say one of the nights we were there the restaurant close for Diner. and the only thing i didnt like is that we as guest were not notify that morning. We went to the beach and around town by the time we got to the Hotel was 9pm and very hungry and restaurant was close. But its okay we went out to eat at this chicken place were it was amazing. the food a LAS TERRENAS its good anywhere you eat. Go you wont regret it. And cant beat the PRICE y that type of Continental Breakfast. we will be going to Soon.... HOLA MARTHA!!!
Cristian
- hdigabtt (6/5): Adequate for a night or two..... - The hotel itself is quite nice comprising of small cabanas around a large pool and gardens. The rooms are a decent size but were quite dark and could have been a bit cleaner. All rooms have a deck out front for sitting in the evening - too bad the chairs and tables are mostly plastic (in contrast to the internet pictures). The real drawback here is the traffic noise and the fact that it is located at the end of town farthest from the beach. Certainly adequate for a night or two but I wouldn't spend my entire vacation here.
- 543davidr (6/5): different than I am used to - This was my first time at an economy priced hotel. I had two single beds in my room. I had chosen a room without A/C so It was far from being sound proof. I did not spend much time at the resort. I was only there to sleep. This was the first time not having A/C in my room but I did not find it too warm to sleep.
- 165janeta (6/5): Lovely but Noisy - The hotel itself, small cabanas around a lush tropical garden and pool, was lovely & mostly comfortable. However, it is located at the end of the town farthest from the beach & situated on a crowded main street where the parties lasted all night at disco decibels. The restaurant only opened for those on a food plan at night or for breakfast, although the bar served drinks. The staff were efficient but not very friendly, even to my husband who is fluent in Spanish and can charm the rattle off a snake. You definitely experience the local flavor. If looking for tours, try Tour Samana with Terry. We did the Los Hiatisis National park & loved it. Their whale watch & adventure tours looked great as well, They collect school materials & clothing for local kids which makes it easy to give back to this beautiful country.
- CindyK668 (10/5): Lovely experience very cozy place - Thank you to all the lovely staff of the Palococo hotel who made my stay wonderful. This hotel is a very calm oasis in the city center. All bungallows are surrounding a lovely swimming pool and the garden is absolutely faboulous, very clean and well kept.
Everybody working in this hotel is wonderful, I can only say thank you to all and see you soon!
- Resort-Expert (8/5): It's Okey - The hotel is okay to stay one or two nights. Next to the hotel they got a stadium were they made a lot noise. The security at night has to be better. Next to our rooms were staying some young guys that they return to the hotel in the middle of the night (3:00 am) with high music and yielding a lot of bad words and also, got into a fight waking up every body, the situation was reported to the security more than five times for different gests and they did nothing, he did not care, I could not believe it.
- traveling2120 (6/5): Pleasant but far - + The rooms are cute and there's a fridge and air conditioning in each room. The grounds are pretty- lots of flowers and a couple seats outside your room. There's a guard on duty starting right at dusk who stays overnight.
+ The beach is far away if you don't have a vehicle. The good news is that it gives you an excuse to ride the back of the motorconchos (little motor bikes) which are always available and you can get to the beach with a dollar or two (about 60 pesos each). Please don't expect a helmet though:) Other good news is that the very friendly management said they recently purchased a free shuttle to the beach and it will start very soon.
- The hotel is right next door to a stadium and while we were there a basketball tournament was going on. From around 9am until pretty late in the evening we could hear the announcer on the mic from our room!
-Breakfast was not very good- only juice served was pineapple juice which tasted disgusting and old.
- The pool was half empty.
Overall it's a comfortable and pleasant place, but how much you'll enjoy it really depends on what you're looking for. Lots of small town charm.
- louloub13 (8/5): Lovely room and great service - We stayed here in April for 3 nights, and it was really lovely - amazing value for money.
We stayed in an air conditioned room (not all of them are) which was a good size, with a very comfy bed and good on-suite bathroom. When we arrived, the towels were arranged as swans with a flower arrangement which was such a lovely touch. All the rooms have a patio area at the front and look out on to the pool area and garden.
On a minus point the food was not great, but as we were just there for breakfast it didn't really matter. It wasn't bad, just very basic (eggs, toast, cheese, coffee). Also, it's slightly out of town, so to walk to the beach would take about 20 minutes (or it's a 5 minute ride on a motorbike taxi).
The people running the place however more than made up for it. They were so attentive and helpful - helping us organise day trips, giving advice, booking transportation for us too. Especially as our Spanish wasn't great, they were really useful!
Definitely recommend to stay here if you want something excellent value for money, cheerful, and romantic with great staff.
