Guest Reviews
- CHAIMONGKOL (10/5): - เครื่องทำน้ำอุ่นไม่ค่อยร้อน และสัญญาณไวไฟอินเตอร์เน็ตพอตกกลางคืนใช้งานไม่ได้
- HAYASHI (4/5): - Although there are some kind staff, the facilities are generally not satisfactory. There is no toilet paper and they don't replace the bath towels. Sometimes there is no hot water. There is often a long line for the elevator from the first floor, so we recommend taking the elevator at the back.
- Julia (6/5): - no comment
- Akira (2/5): - ゴキブリが多くて夜も寝られない。エアコンがない部屋は扇風機。部屋に行くまで、エレベーターが混み、道に迷う。4泊する予定のところを1泊で切り上げた。
- David (8/5): - Good
- David (4/5): - 10.
Stock. Ehrliche Rezension!

- Sharon (2/5): Very bad. Only location is great - No wonders why it as so many bad reviews. Sometimes i dont give much about them but this time, they were all true.
The only positive thing is the location. which is great. But its super small, there is no "chill" area, which makes a hostel a good place so you can socialize with others. But, what made me want to leave that place as soon as posible, was the staff, super rude. Specially the lady at the front desk. I wouldnt recommed people to stay here.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - we did not get the room type we've availed
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I (a female) went by myself, and was never in any danger. Never saw any bed bugs or other insects/bugs. Yes, it is a small room, but you get what you pay for. My t.v. and fridge did not work. The blow dryer was very noisy and you could only use it for a few minutes at a time before it stopped working. There was hot water available right outside my room. If you're on a budget and not picky, then you'll be alright to stay here. The biggest inconvenience was having to leave a deposit for your room key and having to make another payment for the "cleaning fee" in HK dollars.
Yes, waiting for the elevator was a hassle most of the time. I mostly took the stairs.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Charge me $125 for Serv charge, give me no towels and nothing Suply. Never clean my room, the worker sleeping in my room when I check in. And do
Not change after he sleep in my bed. BR is so small and can’t wash up easily. Some workers a man and a lady was very bad manners.
- FRANCIS (6/5): - The lift is a real problem. Always a long queue plus a rude lift women cleaner . The night shift Indian man always put up a long face ! No topping of toiletries. Not much moving space inside the room and windows are all lock-up, that including the corridor window. If someone got a cold it will spread to everyone and when there is a fire smoke will kill you first because all windows are closed tight. The mineral water dispense was empty for days till I left !
- Alexander (4/5): Consider some options - The only thing that I can say is if a traveler wants an enjoyable accommodation experience, book for a better hotel. But if you want a cheaper hotel to stay and good proximity and doesn’t care about the service and facility and convenience, as well as safety, then by all means this hotel is for you. I completely regret booking this hotel. Well, pictures can really be deceiving.
- Dahlia (4/5): Small hotel in a good location - Quite disappointing bec of the room size and elevator too small and slow. I think they need to change the picture so as not to mislead future guests. One good thing is the location, close to everything.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not many signs and very hard to find. They charge a cleaning fee when you check in even though the bathroom isn’t clean. One bathroom shared between 18 people. Is not a proper shower but a water heater on the wall connected to a shower head therefore the shower wets the whole bathroom.
- Bachir (6/5): - WiFi doesn't work very well, some of the staff didn't seem to care. Room was not as in the picture provided. But the room is clean it's in the Indian section of Hong Kong. Plenty of indian food convenient location. Easy to take the bus to and from airport. Bus A21 is good choice for that trip
- Angel (2/5): - Staff of the hotel was very accommodating but the hotel and the rooms are too small. We asked for towel for two but they told us that towels are only available in the morning! And the beds!? Bed bugs got all over my body that I couldnt sleep anymore, and when we were about to check out. I saw the bed bugs crawling in our beds with i think my blood on it!!! Worse experience
- kieran (6/5): - Was small, once inside in comments n areas was pretty clean, but outside wasn’t. Also the bed was enclosed and barley fitted into the room. I had to sleep diagonally - with my bags on the bed - to make myself fit
- Jesler Loise (8/5): Overall good - The Filipino staff is very helpful.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Very rude staff and cockroaches and spiders - I called to hotel as I couldn't find the location, but the rude staff ignored me and just cut my call. I called three times because the staff keep cut my call with any replying.
And the room was very dirty, smelly and small.
I was very shocked because cockroaches and spider were crowling on my bed.
I booked 10 floor but there was no room and staff asked me go down to 6 floor, and never informed how to find the room.
this guest house is very irresponsible and have no manners for clients.
- Richard (6/5): No towel - No towel was supplied, otherwise it was very good. Excellent wifi, late checkout and good A/C.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice location - It is located in tsim sha tsui.. in a busy indian area.. i like the location and the people there are friendly, if you ask directions they will help you
- James (2/5): Worst experience ever. - Buyer beware. Manila hotel is the worst i have ever stayed.. Pictures are a lie as to how rooms look...they are not as big as you think..they actually are smaller than a prison cell . You can barley move around in the room. the toilet area is your shower and its so small you can barely take a shower the bed is a wooden based that is hand made and the mattress is paper thin and very uncomfortable. There isn't any room service , they don't clean the rooms regularly, if you want it cleaned during your stay, you need to pull teeth and nail to get it cleaned.there WiFi is interment-ant always returning you a no signal or a page not found do to internet issues.buyer beware dont book a manila hotel room as it will be your worst experience ever.Dont pre-pay or book your stay here

- Verified traveler (2/5): VEry Budget hotel - Indian area very lots of indian food and money changer
they rate are pretty attractive
- cornelia (6/5): OK - nice people - Ok place we stayed there twice. Very small room, environment a bit scary at first but fun later. Great Indian street food all over the place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Convenient and clean and close to the Star Ferry - We would definitely recommend this guest house as a really budget priced clean place to stay. The access and the lifts are a little off putting but once in the room all is comfortable with daily room service.
And plenty of hot water.
- James (8/5): Good price great location basic room - Everything was great. Room was clean and staff was helpful. Wifi was fast and reliable. In room fridge was great to have and the AC kept it comfortable. Microwave and hot water available in the lobby. This was a great, basic home base for a few days in HK. I would stay here again. A little hard to find at first, but once you figure out the elevator/block locations it's a snap. Walking into Chungking Mansions the first time can be a little overwhelming. So much going on all at once! If it's your first time take it slow, walk around, get the layout, and you'll be fine and have a great time.
- Teresita B (10/5): - My first night experienced is to bad cause theres a guy was compitative to Manila hotel. He told to us that Manila hotel is very dangerous not safe they can come inside your room anytime because they have a duplicate key in everyroom. But i thanx god me & my family stayed there for 6 nights everthings fine.
- Ann Levina (2/5): - Before its good.. I think, there are changes in management.. Now i will not recommend.. I already booked this 5 times before.. I will not stay again..
- David (8/5): Manila Hotel experience - My stay was great. The staff was friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): Kind and helpful staff - During the stay, the staff were helpful. Specially thanks to David for his kindness help. It's value for money because the hotel room rate is too high in HK. Better save the money up for shopping or food.
- Kashif (2/5): - the stay in this hotel was not good. so dirty hotel. locks was broken. service was poor surrounding peoples and staff was planning to rapee us. most worse hotel i have ever been in my life and one hotel staff indian boy rapedd my friend at night
- TAT BENG (2/5): The worst hotel ! - The worst hotel that I've stay before.... smelly, room narrow enough, no bath towel provided after room keeping for 3 days, unfriendly staff.... I'll not stay here anymore! Bad memories!
- Travelled-a-lot (2/5): If you are DESPERATE, there are consequences! - Sometimes you have few options in life and need something cheap. If that's the case, then there's consequences. Chungking Mansions is not the kind of building you want to go to, let alone stay in. If you have to use Manila Hotel to save money, then before you walk into the building breathe, relax, and expect the worst. If it's better than expected, that's a bonus. The room I had was a double, not the smallest supposedly! Three of the walls touch the bed. There's no room to put your bags anywhere, but under the bed. So every time you want something, you have to go under the bed. There will be non-stop, 24 hours/day noise of one form or another: air-con, construction site. It attracts others with little money and so your neighbour could be two parents who talk till 3am (loud) and then their baby will scream and cry and they'll do little about it, but you'll hear it all. Before you get into the room, you may have to wait over 10 minutes, as the gentleman at reception ignores you and deals with another issue on the phone. He'll tell you he's sending you to a quiet room: 17th floor. Have a look at the room, then REFUSE it. After seeing 3-4 other rooms, you'll be able to get something slightly better. But before you see the man at reception, you have to endure the line waiting to get into the lift and the VERY slow speed of the lift. Breathe! Think, "It's better than Block A and B's line to get into the lift and you got past the sleazy (but harmless) men trying to sell you junk!"
- Iza Fithrah (10/5): Best Place to Stay for Budget Traveller - Hotel reception John and Sherie very friendly and helpful. This hotel near to public transport such as bus station, mrt, ferry China Kowloon Hong Kong Terminal and shopping place such as Mong Kok. This hotel also sell discounted ticket for attraction place in Hong Kong.
-Safe place to stay.
- Room quite small but ok with the price given.
- Small issue with elevator that can occupy 4-5 person only at one time but it ok. ;-)
- Form main enterance of Chungking Mansion find Block D lift.
- A lot of Halal food, money changer, sim card in Chungking Mansion.
- Excellent wifi connection.
- I will stay at this hotel again.. ;-)
- GERARD (8/5): - Just ok.
- Verified traveler (4/5): It's not a hotel, it is a HOSTEL! - Receptionist told me he would give me queen-size bed and so he expected 5-stars rating. I answered "As long as your air conditioner blows hot air, I'll give 5-star, bedsize isn't important to me." He gave me queen bed but no warm air. I requested extra blanket but he just gave me a blanket cover. When I woke up at 5 am I was f*king frozen. And it's not a hotel, it's just a sh*tty HOSTEL. Sheets were not clean, etc etc. Lots of things to tell.
- Marina (2/5): Very small room full of cockroaches!!! - First of all, they sent us to the 17th floor with the excuse that as we were going to stay many days and the rooms near reception with people checking in and checking out were going to be noisy (not sure if this was a favour or a curse).
The room was about 1.3 x 3, I am not kidding.. we just could access the bed through the feet. But the worst part were the cockroaches. They were everywhere!!!! small and mid size!! one day we killed two, and left them on the floor, so the cleanning staff can see them but... surprise!!! they didn't even sweep them up!!! we just found them on the floor just as we left them..
Long queues waiting for elevators... Building is a labyrinth.
Terrible. Don't come here. Location is good but doesn't worth it.
- Itik (2/5): - The so-called hotel is in a ghetto building. I stayed in a room shared with 5 guys and the one bathroom was shared by maybe at least 20 people. Why did they call it Manila when they were not Filipinos but South Asians. They are being misleading, I guess to draw in Filipinos as customers.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst hotel I've ever stayed in. - Spent 30 minutes arguing about the fact we'd booked 2 rooms, they obviously didn't want to give them to us. Only after saying I'd call hotels.com, did they give us the rooms.
The rooms were tiny, room not big enough to lie straight without hitting the other wall. The towel that had been provided to use with the toilet/shower, was stained with all kinds of nasty things. Killing cockroaches in the room was the rule of the day. Good job it was only for one night. If you're a student and its $50, then maybe, anyone else stay clear.
- ross r (10/5): - My trip was from August - September 2015.
Firstly, thank you so much to Sherie, Amen, Love, John, Leny, Dave and the rest of the staff that made my stay enjoyable and a great experience. I can recommend this hotel for anyone on a budget in Hong Kong.
My room was small but comfortable. Cooled / boiled water with tea / coffee is available at the reception free of charge. Staff offer to clean your room every day, and will also replace bed sheets and towel. The hotel security is very good with staff in reception 24/7, lots of cameras around the entrances, which are keypad locked. Hot water takes 5 minutes for a shower, shower gel and shampoo are regularly refilled for you. No problems with toilet.
Some not so good things about the location: It look a couple of weeks before people down stairs stopped asking me to buy stuff. Even though this can be annoying they are polite and do not feel threatening. The lift is small and regularly takes a couple of minutes to arrive at your floor. Taking stairs takes a couple of minutes to get to the ground floor, exiting from the side of the building avoiding the markets from inside ChungKing Mansions.
It's hard to write many negative things about my experience. I will definitely return and couldn't be happier with the hotel, the staff and the respectful way I was treated.
- Bastian (10/5): Very good location 24 hours reception fast wifi - 24 hours reception for late check in Use Block E along with Block D for faster check in and check out super fast wifi service with free coffee tea boiling water for noodles.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good stay close to metro - Very good connected to star ferry harbour city canton road china ferry terminal for ferries to Macau or China and I square All the staff are helpful and make ur stay memorable
- Robert (8/5): - Wasn't sure what to expect from such a cheap hotel, but was delighted to find very helpful and friendly service. Couldn't recommend highly enough to anyone on a budget!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent place to stay if backpacking! - The staff was wonderful. As soon as I checked in, they were welcoming and accommodating. A fantastic place to stay that's in the centre of the city life with plenty of places for shopping and touristing. Conveniently located by the harbour for siteseeing.
The hotel was a cozy place, quite tiny - but you get what you pay for. Overall, I've no complaints. Definitely recommend it!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The staff is nice. The room itself is VERY SMALL. I am 6"1 (188 cm) and I could not sleep straight; my double bed was probably around 5"8 (175cm).
It's a tough neighborhood, ChungKing mansions. I would definitely not recommend for parties with girls only; I would not feel good if my daughter went there.
Anyway, if this is a desperation room, I would go no problem. Otherwise I would spend a little more, $10 dollars to stay at a better place.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Excellent service - Excellent Service for a guest house, it was beyond my expectation.
The staff at the reception was super friendly and sincere n genuinely serving from they heart,I could not recall they names but the 3 ladies there 1 indian Depp, i think and 2 philipinos are superb. They are very hospitable and very surprised to have such service in guest house.
The house keeping Miss LOVE is exceptionally helpful and accommodative. Thank you and I am sure will return to Manila Hotel again.
To the MGT, you have excellent and examplery staff and they are your assets. Keep them well.
- Kevin (8/5): Affordable and well located hostel - The hostel is very well located in HK, 1min to the metro station. The staff was extremely friendly, especially Raj, Kevin, Peter, Sherri. Hope to come back.
