Guest Reviews
- Aaron (2/5): - The property is very dated. The room had a musty smell to it and was not very clean. The walls are very thin and the floor above squeaks as people walk around and we unfortunately had people who walked around a lot and all hours of the night.
- chris (6/5): - musty smell l.. hair in the fridge bathroom door was stuck to floor old school key locks dead bolt was hard to engage
- Terence (8/5): - Close to everything
- Hailey (4/5): - Rustic little out dated but very cute
- Francine (8/5): - The bathroom door was hard to open and close. The ironing board was broken, the hair dryer needs a blocker because it sucked in my hair, I have long hair. The room was wonderful, the bed was comfortable, the staff was friendly, helpful and courteous. It was great to have a microwave, refrigerator and coffee maker in the room. The drawer space was good. The bathroom was great
I really enjoyed my stay, especially since I could walk across the street from the bar.
- Janet (8/5): - Pleasant little inn with nice staff. Stair-climbing is necessary for all rooms.
- Richard (2/5): - We liked nothing at all about the Oswego Inn & Suites as it is falsely advertised. It’s an old 2 story house.
It appears to never been updated to accommodate modern day travelers.
Our room was on the second floor. There are no elevators, only creaking steep stairs.
Door locks are manual key operated.
The mattresses are made up of 2 double beds, one with a box spring covered with a rubber material zipper sack that we could not sleep on and the other bed was the top mattress of the set which was covered with the same type sack. The beds did have sheets, pillows and blankets. My wife and I had to share one bed!
The air conditioner was a window type unit that was wall mounted and did not blow any cold air. We asked for a better room but was told by the manager that it was not possible because the (Inn) was fully booked. But our vehicle was the only vehicle in the parking lot for 2 days. He explained that all the rooms were booked by people that just walked in from the street without cars or luggage.
All amenities that were advertised were not available.
So please, please do not stay at the
“Oswego Inn & Suites “!!!
Hopefully Expedia.com will investigate the deceitful property and remove it from their recommended stay list.
I have photos but a complete, in-depth investigation by the BB, Town code enforcement officer and Fire Marshal will show more than my pictures.
- Lucille A (8/5): - It was fine
- Verified traveler (8/5): - If you’re looking for top notch, keep looking. On a budget, it works well.
- Hayley (2/5): do not recommend - my partner and i rented a room here for a weekend getaway trip, was very unsatisfied with the condition of the room and environment so we checked out 30 minutes after checking in and found a room elsewhere
- Meredith (4/5): - It was just an old house with many stairs, and no amenities.
- Maddison (10/5): - This is our second year in a row staying here while we are in town for Super Dirt Week, will hopefully be back next year!
- Lisa (6/5): - It was a sweet homey place. However,
The bed had plastic under the sheet - it was uncomfortable and loud. There was bright light that came through the curtains throughout the night.
- Jennifer Krauss (2/5): - The beds were uncomfortable and I did not sleep the entire night. The blanket was stained. The check in procedure was ridiculously long. The air conditioner was filthy. Other than that it was fine.
- Tim (2/5): - Too expensive for what I got
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The room was fair. Bathroom had hair in tub and sink faucet was very dirty. The air conditioner was very dusty and took a long to cool the room.
- Frances (6/5): - I didn't get the single room I reserved, instead got a crowded double.
The bathroom is poorly lit, the 3 bulb fixture above the sink doesn't work.
The beds [I tried both] were extremely hard, even for me who uses a firm mattress at home.
The microwave is on a shelf under the fridge, about 2 inches off the floor, difficult to use without getting down on my hands and knees.
- Bruce (2/5): - Worse sleep
- Verified traveler (4/5): Disappointed - The place is incredibly run down. No amenities. No WiFi, code did not work. No hot water (at best warm). Toilet did not flush well and generally would continually run unless you jiggled handle. Check in staff were most gracious.
- Christopher (10/5): - Had a very nice stay. The staff is fantastic and the rooms are clean and nice.
- Kim (10/5): - Room was very nice. And clean. Lady at the front desk was very courteous and seemed genuinely happy to see us. And they happily gave us some plastic silverware when our food order from a local restaurant (a julienne salad and a scallop dish from Canale's restaurant) arrived with no silverware or napkins.
- Victor (10/5): - Nice settings, very comfortable and friendly service.
- Kristen (8/5): - Only comment I have is beds in my room were very
firm.
- William (8/5): - Service with a smile and clean
- Krystal (6/5): - We booked prior to seeing the reviews but I have to say that the Oswego Inn wasn't as bad as the reviews made it sound. The staff was friendly, the rooms were mostly clean, and the location was very convenient. That being said, our rooms were uncomfortably warm even with the window air-conditioning units at full blast, while there were ice buckets, there was no ice machine, and there was a smell of cigarettes, even thoughour rooms were non-smoking.
- Krisondra (10/5): - love the quiet
- Samantha (2/5): - Shzj
- Karen (2/5): - It’s pretty dirty and old and run down. Wi-Fi never worked. Only good thing it’s close to suny Oswego and downtown
- Tevin (10/5): - Wonderful
- Timothy (4/5): - The place was a $50 a night room, just in shambles paint was terrible, beds look barely made, couldn’t work the TV, no drinks available.
- Terri (2/5): - Let's start with the positive...
>It was very quiet, probably because no one else was dumb enough to book this place-
>The toilet paper was irresistibly soft
Our room was dirty, the beds were clearly unchanged (GROSS), outlets did not function properly, the a/c unit blew dust and hot air. Musty like smell in the halls, carpet in lobby in bad need of vacuuming, and there was no breakfast as advertised. Which is probably a positive honestly....
Heed the warnings that I did not!!
SAVE YOURSELF, STAY AWAY!
- Fred (2/5): - Walking up to the front door and up the steps that look like they will collapse any minute, I immediately felt a sense of dread. Not only will this motel (and I use the term loosely) not let you cancel within 3 days of your arrival, it also charges much too much for a place that's several notches below a Day's Inn. Cigarette holes in the furniture, a carpet that hasn't been cleaned in months, no service before my second night, a tv that yes, has cable channels, but can barely be heard even all the way to the top. The bed was much too soft, a microwave with no center plate, yes a small refrig but not much compensation for the money. Again, no change of towels, coffee pot that wasn't clean and a packet of coffee but no creamer and one (1) cup with an ill-fitting lid (had to go out for coffee). Very unprofessional demeanor from the "staff". Oh and due to my copd, I requested a lower room -- it's a walk-up -- but was told nothing was available even though there were maybe five cars in the lot. the chairs by the table had something very sticky I couldn't remove so I couldn't rest my arms on it. The a/c is pitiful.
- Richard (2/5): - No breakfast no ice didnt clean rooms bedbugs no service charge too much everything wrong bed hard fridge broken
- mynor (2/5): - This property is a triple decker. Not what I wanted or many people want for a hotel.
- C (2/5): - Too old , and the toilet so dirty
- Antonio (6/5): The Price Says It All - I was dropping off my younger brother at SUNY Oswego and this was one of the cheapest lodging options available. I was only using the room to sleep and take a quick shower, so I didn’t need anything luxurious. Well, the price says it all. My room was one step above me complaining. There were stains on the bedsheets and the carpets, but it was comfortable enough. The curtains were thick enough that the room stays dark when the sun comes up. I’m 22, so I’d say this was a decent stay at best and I’m glad I saved money — but older people with a bit more of budget might want to second guess staying here.
- TOM (2/5): - Did not end up staying. Disgusting property.
Guy at front counter could not run my card.
I went and stayed at the best western down town. They had no problem running my card.
Can’t believe you have this property on your site.
- Frank S (2/5): - Never again this place. Flying bugs in bathroom. Strained entrance rug. Smells dingy
- Frank S (2/5): - Never again this place. Flying bugs in bathroom. Strained entrance rug. Smells dingy
- Robert (2/5): - We didn’t stay our second night. The whole place was old and dirty. The bathroom was broken, beds are terrible, bedspread was dirty. There were holes in the walls. I can’t believe they’re open for business. I should’ve ask for our money back. I wouldn’t recommend this place for dogs to stay in.
- Soraya (2/5): - There was hair from the previous guest in the bathtub (hair balls). The sheets has yellow and orange stains. Do not recommend this place.
- Dottie (2/5): - I'm sorry to say that the room was dirty with ancient dust on every secondary surface. The toilet bowl and any sink surface was clean, the bed was clean, but the sills, fixtures, were all dirty.
- Hilary (4/5): - We were very happy to find a last minute room when our air bnb cancelled, but
- Kathleen (6/5): - Stains on carpet if they would steam machine would have been nicer. I was afraid to walk on carpet barefoot. Pretty gross. Air conditioner and curtains had many cobwebs. Towels were thin and coarse.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - First the property says it is non smoking and the place smelled like smoke and the room smelled like a smoke shop. There was an open condom on the bed. The tv didn't work the windows didn't lock and the shower knob was broken so you couldn't take a shower.
- Jose (2/5): Disgusting - The room was completely filthy, stains all over the carpet and chairs. Absolutely disgusting.
- Robert (10/5): Oswego Inn - Great place very well kept
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Booked a single queen room, received a sub-par double room with mismatched bedding and a lamp that had no shade. The A/C looked like it was from 1980 and barely kept the room cool. No ice machine, zero amenities. Originally from the area, I looked forward to staying here as it USED TO be nice. Don't let the photos fool you! Let's not mention how long it took to get checked in! Never again, and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone (not even my enemies).
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When I first arrived they checked me into a room that wasn’t the room I requested through my booking through Expedia. I requested a queen room and they tried to put me in a double bedroom. While I used to work in a couple of hotels, I understand what to look for between the difference in the clean room and not. The trash was not taking out, the soaps haven’t been changed to new soaps, there was hair in the shower. Those are things they could’ve done.
After I Splaine that wasn’t true I requested from the website they put me in a queen room which ended up being a smoking room which I specifically requested a non-smoking queen room. He told me they were booked but it advertised they had rooms open they were my select it was a non-smoking home.
When I moved to the queen room, the carpets were filthy the chairs were filthy the walls were filthy air conditioner was filthy. Everything was just filthy. The furniture was either old or broken down in the whole room just look like I was in a Traphouse.
They never put out breakfast as advertised either. The comforter was stained with either rust or make up but either way, the comforter was stained. The hotel was just poorly taken care of and you can see were overtime that lack of really taking care of the place has set in.
When I told a couple of friends where I was staying they called it “Bedbug Inn” and told her to be careful of bedbugs. That made my stay uncomfortable even more.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - When we went to check in, we went to check the room. There human waste in the toilet, hair in sink and air conditioning frame was held up by a piece of wire. We left and got another room someplace else.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Nothing at all like the pictures or description. Room had not been cleaned. Food and stains on carpet floor. 1986 AC took forever to cool down room. Bathroom door wouldn't close and very outdated. No breakfast at all. Disappointing overall
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Friendly manager, tidy room, convenient area. Room was Not like the advertised image.
- Barbara (4/5): never again - People were nice. Hotel was well below average. Carpets covered in cigarette burns, nonsmoking hotel reaked of smoke. Dirty stained towels.
- Michael (8/5): - My stay here was short. For a budget income, this place is very decent.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The place was dirty and there was a guess that live there and the kid(4-6)was running all night long. The ac stop working in the middle of the night. I will never stay there.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - When I check in the person was very gentle but my first room don't have a good ac so I ask a change the room so he did it inmediately. The bad thing I realize I pay for a room with breakfast wasn't any breakfast to served I will suggest if will be no breakfast please don't put it on the notes and also don't charge too high for a room if the facility smell weird you can tell lack of cleaning and no free breakfast like online says.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very disappointed. I figured as much with the dim photo shown but the room was not cleaned property either and that’s inexcusable! I could not spend the night and found another place.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Awful, old and dirty.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great for price - Spacious place. Good rate. Comfortable bed. Would stay again
- john (10/5): - Picking up my son at college. Easy access and close to SUNY. Room is nice and good size. Beds very comfortable.
- Visitor (2/5): - at the $100 price point, there were better options.
- s
sanders (4/5): - Looks nothing like the pictures, carpets were dirty, not vacuumed, curtains were half hung, missing hooks, windows were filthy, refrigerator was nasty, table had not been washed. found other peoples things on the floor, ie: pennies, colored pencil, lots of dirt and dust, ice bucket was dirty.lamp sades were visably dusty.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Booked using Expedia guy said he never got it so he charged me when I got here
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There was human hairs on all of the bed spreads and sheets. They had a bed bug cover the mattress. There was a strange stain in the tub, There were some type of paper pieces all over the floor by the bed. Poor lighting. Locks on the door did not work. I did not stay there once I checked in after I saw the poor condition. I immediately check out and stayed at another hotel. Not worth the outrageous price they charge. I would not recommend this motel when there are others in the area that are better kept and worth the money.
- Janice (2/5): - We came into the building and it was completely not as described under expedia. Immediately my allergies started responding negatively to the air in the building. The carpets were filthy and there was mold. He showed me the room up 3 flights of stairs. Couldn't handle the smell. Then he gave as an alternative one on main floor that also smelled bad and had dirty carpet, so we said we couldn't stay there. He said we couldn't find any place else that was better and that he couldn't cancel our room but had to do that through Expedia. We went out to parking lot and immediately called Expedia. A very pleasant and kind lady put me on hold and tried to call the Inn. She also was told that he could not cancel. She told us that her manager at Expedia would try to cancel on Monday when talking with the Oswego Inn manager. We were so upset and allergies activated, that even though we had planned to stay another day in the USA, we got in the car and drove 5 hours home. Very disgusted and unhappy.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Stayed 3 nights...room not made up the second day...dirty carpets...TV was not working right..
- Tonya (4/5): - It was very disappointing to see that the pictures on Hotels.com did not match what I saw. I walked in to a small cottage house that had a very odd smell. The room’s rug was disgusting. It looked like it hadn’t been shampooed in YEARS. The fridge and microwave were sitting on top of the dresser. The heat vents covers were off. The tub didn’t appear clean. It was yellowish inside. The Inn sits on the corner of a residential area and main strip. The people around the area seemed to be on drugs. I felt very unsafe and will never see stay there ago. The pictures are very misleading.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Really needs renovations - rug was nasty. Just not a nice room. Check in went ok - lady was nice, but would not recommend this place to anyone - just yuck.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The staff was helpful and friendly enough, however the room was in poor condition.
- Michael (10/5): - Room was ready and smelled clean and the fitness of the bed was awesome considering I drive a rig and when Salmon fishing for 10 hours, I needed that.
Thank you
- John (4/5): - Bathroom needed upgrade. Narrow stairs nowhere near the price paid. Breakfast milk was sour and bagels were non existent when we came down at 8:00am Owner had to get everything out from the back and he complained about the help. Then he had a row with a bunch of uninvited guys in the lobby. We were nervous going out to the car. Would NEVER stay there again.
- Susan B. (8/5): - Enjoyed the inn it was quiet, room was good size, clean, the manager was very nice. He asked if we were familiar with the area, and if we needed any information. Told us times of the breakfast. Very nice owner's.
- Sid (8/5): - Not fancy, but comfortable and clean, pleasant and helpful staff. I would stay there again.
- L (6/5): - I really cant explain in words how the lobby smelled, a mix between stale old woman and cat pee. I almost walked back out to find another place to stay. The only comfort i took was this place was cheep and other places wanted and arm or leg and your pocket book to boot. The room was okay. It looked clean on first glance but areas of the rug were stained and the window sill broken. The AC worked but it took a little to get the thing running. It was also broken around the face of the unit. Our view was of the house nextdoor and their roof. The breakfast served was cereal some drinks bagels or muffins. I went out to get food... the bed, well, it was a bed, sleapable, but firm, akin to sleeping on the floor or in a sleeping bag. It was a cheep place to stay, with a roof over my head, and did what I needed to do. If I hadnt made the reservations ahead and been locked in, I would have gone elsewhere
- Valcat (2/5): College Pick Up - I stayed at this hotel before with know problems! This time there was a bed bug crawling on the sheet across my chest! FREAKED MY DAUGHTER AND I OUT!!!!!
- nathan j. (6/5): Not Oswego's best - Oswego Inn served its purpose, albiet overpriced for the class of the hotel. Everything was done cheap down to the breakfast which didnt even serve orange juice. It served orange drink. The door of m room barely shut and you could see through it.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Lower your expectations - Chain on the door was broken. Windows don’t lock. Rug was stained. In the lobby they were calling the police on this guy that wanted to stay another night but owed too much money. Bedside lamps did not work. I did not feel safe
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel near the city - Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Close to downtown Oswego.
- José (6/5): Wonderful accommodations for the price. - It’s run & feels more like a B & B. The rooms were nice & clean. A family run business wherein the owners were attentive to us.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The building was pretty shabby and the inside smelled musty. It was pretty outdated and the breakfast was a joke. There was an attempt to make it clean but carpets were stained and furniture mismatched . This place is grossly overpriced.
- Frank (10/5): Nice , quaint and comfortable - 10 blocks from the Oswego river
- Linda (4/5): - This place smelled like stale cigarettes and the mattress was as hard as a rock. Woke up very sore.
- Radames (6/5): Hotel by the city - The gentleman that check me in was a pleasant and nice. The hotel needs some updating. The room was clean and the bathroom also was clean. The hotel needs new beds specially the box spring [ it had stains}. The breakfast was coffee small pastry and bagels. No hot breakfast. For the price and to stay a day or two is fine. The hotel is close to the city and everything is close by.
- Max (6/5): - Hotel was ok;could have given it a higher rating, but no elevator, outdated in general
