- Amy (10/5): - Amazing!!! Wonderful staff, onsen and soba restaurant. I highly recommend!!!
- Zuohao (10/5): - Excellent service and breakfast!
- Sooh (10/5): - We used this place for the 3 night accommodation while snowboarding at Kamui Resort. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return!! You can also buy the discounted lift tickets at the front desk!!
- Jerry (10/5): - Great staff and great place We will go back again
- Tony (10/5): - We enjoyed the stay, and the food was great. We drove 30 minutes to the zoo and a floral farm, as there was not really much to see or do in the immediate vicinity.
- Lihong (10/5): - The staffs are really nice!!
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent customer service, beautiful gardens, great Japanese breakfast, free parking and wifi, and a nice onsen bath all included in room price. Our tatami room was very spacious and quiet. The only improvement we recommend is better air conditioning, but keeping the window open at night maintained our room temperature comfortable.
- Vincent (10/5): - The staff the food, facilities and room are all excellent. First class in every way
Thank you to all who helped me
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was nice because the staff was kind and the room was spacious
- Fuk Sang (10/5): - The staffs are very polite and nice
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Martin (10/5): Tveka inte. Boka! - Traditionellt japanskt.
- Kwok Hung Joseph (8/5): -
- JUN BOCK (8/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Sin Sze (10/5): - Excellent service and scrumptious local meals. I am impressed with this hotel and its service
- KP (10/5): A very nice and affordable Ryokan - Excellent experience in every manner. But curtainless Japanese paper window might not suit city people when sun rises around 4:00am in the morning.
- Dong Sun (10/5): Nice service and food - They were kind and tried to give the best service. Food was really nice and hot spring is another good point fo this place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful experience of Japanese accommodation - Wonderful experience of Japanese accommodation! Everything was so clean and quiet
- Andrea (8/5): Great: Service and Food, Bad: Location and design - The staff were the highlight of this Ryokan, incredibly accommodating and kind, although no one spoke any English. As other reviewers have said, the hotel itself feels somewhat old, and not in a pleasant way. It has a faint musty smell and needs updating. It was less traditional than other Ryokans I stayed in, the entry, common areas, and hallways were identical to a Western-style hotel, and only the rooms were done in traditional Japanese style. Despite this, the restaurant was fantastic, I ate dinner there both nights even though it was not included. Everything was delicious. The included breakfasts had more food than I could ever dream of eating with a huge amount of variety. It was very enjoyable. The location left something to be desired, not near anything, you need a car to get anywhere.
- Javier (10/5): Great option in Asahikawa - Came here after a day of skiing in Kamuy Ski Links. The place was absolutely gorgeous with great accommodations in traditional Japanese style. The service, onsen, breakfast, everything was great. The ryokan is a bit far from downtown Asahikawa but we had a car so not an issue. Will stay here again
- Diana (10/5): Nice stay at traditional Japanese inn in Asahikawa - The rooms were very comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and gave us a good start to our days. The onsen warmed up our cold bodies each night and enabled us to sleep very well. It was nice to stay within the quiet neighbourhood where the inn is.
- YIN HAN (10/5):
- Verified traveler (10/5): Quaint ryokan - Quaint little place with beautiful gardens
- Verified traveler (10/5): Memorable experience - Very clean and well presented family run large size ryokan. Outstanding service , showed excellent Japanese hospitality. Food was great, the third generation owner greeted us at dinner. The son spoke very good English. I saw him left some feeds outside in the open car park during breakfast for birds, and birds came. The small shop sells nice stuff that were clearly selected by the owners. In all, if you want to experience Japanese culture and have the western comfort , this place is worth a stay. With onsens too.
- Kee (10/5): Experience of the real Ryokan. Feel like home. - Very nice and friendly staff. Great breakfast. Morning coffee corner with the Japanese garden view is superb.
- Yam Hung (10/5): Authentic Japanese Experience - Traditional Japanese Style. The Japanese breakfast is great.
- Angelina (10/5): Excellent customer service and big rooms - We were a group of 5 who stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The staff helped us with our luggages to the rooms, and when we changed room to a bigger room on the second night, they moved our luggages for us as well. The staff also helped us cut up the melons we bought from the supermarket. Excellent service which is very commendable. The rooms were clean and the toilet was very modern compared to other ryokans. Jacuzzi in the onsen was also nice. The location is easy to find, but recommended only if you have a car because it's not in town itself. The soba restaurant downstairs is also excellent. Only downside is that you need to find parking when you go to town, but my advice if you want to walk around downtown is to check out the restaurants that you want to go to first, because they usually have free parking. Overall perfect experience staying here, would highly recommend.
- Angeline (10/5): The best ryokan in our trip - Ryokan sensyoan is a family business, and is now managed by the 3rd and 4th generation. There is a lot of love and history in this place, and they try to manage this place as closely as it was back then. Having stayed in mostly ryokans this trip, I can safely say that this one is the best one out of all.
The room that we had was spacious and had an amazing view of their japanese garden. There were both indoor and outdoor onsens. As a small ryokan with only 16 guestrooms, they are able to customize the service a lot, and ensure that their guests feel special. Privacy was also a great plus because of the size of the ryokan. The most noteworthy experience was the Kaiseki dinner, it was AMAZING, the most unforgettable culinary experience that we've had. The quality was top notch and was probably the best meal we had in our 16 day trip in Hokkaido.
I would recommend Ryokan Sensyoen, not just as a place to stay, but for the experience itself of staying in a traditional japanese ryokan!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff, even the owner came over at dinner to welcome us
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff were friendly and accomodating especially parking and Japanese customs.
- Say Boon (8/5): Breakfast was delicious - The hotel staff are very helpful and friendly, especially after our long and hectic drive, it's great to be warmly treated. It's a great surprise to see my names on the door of our room and everything prepared for us in the room.
- Martin (8/5): Upmarket Ryokan - Upmarket Ryokan in Asahikawa. Lovely on-site restaurant and nice onsens. Grounds are pleasant and relaxing.
- Joanna (10/5): Amazing stay at a uphill with Fantastic view! - We all love our Ryokan Sensyoen stay for the room is very spacious for a family of 5 - 6 pax. There is living area, dining area and sleeping area. Came with Tea making set and love the green tea aroma and refreshing taste!!
We are staying on the 4th storey (highest) where Ryokan Sensyoen is located on the uphill. The view overlooking the town area was lovely, night view is fabulous! We should have stayed at least 3 days or more to enjoy the room stay with the scenic view!!!
- Edward (8/5): Attentive and Warm Service - Great little hotel. Service was outstanding - for example, our package didnt include meals for the kids but the hotel staff provided small meals for them regardless which was a great touch! Food was good and in line with what we expect from a Ryokan. English at reception was sufficient and we had no issues.
- john (10/5): excellent asahikawa ryokan - Excellent service from all the hotel staff especially Manager Hiro Takahashi and front desk staff. Very clean and well kept facility that is certainly worth the price. Would stay there again
- Alex (8/5): Rustic ryokan in Asahikawa suitable for self-drive - Check-in felt personal, with staff showing us to our room personally.
We used the onsen which included an outdoor bath area, and a see thru window from the bath area to the changing area, making it less intimidating for first-time onsen using foreigners.
Free morning coffee was provided in the lobby area. It should be noted that food options are limited to a hotel-operated soba restaurant in the hotel. A short drive out will be required for anything else.
This ryokan would be recommended for travelers on a self-drive holiday, as it is not located close to Asahikawa center.
- Kim Her (10/5): Superb hotel!!! - me and my family really like this hotel!!! room is huge and room condition is very new and clean.
we have a private room for our dinner with the name out of the dining room, and so do the hotel room, this make us feel like everything is well prepared and highness of privacy.
during end of the dinner, the owner of the hotel came to our dining room not only said hi to us, but introduce us the type of food that all hand made by them. When she know we going to Monbetsu the next day or icebreaker cruise, she ask her staff check for us about the weather and the condition of icebreak. this kind of additional service make us feel like home.
one last thing that I would like to give highly comment is the food. all the food is delicious and tasty, we keep eating even we feel like full because all taste good.
