Guest Reviews
- Michael (10/5): - A wonderful Japanese experience. The owners were great.
Highly recommend. Not a western hotel!!
- Hyun Chong (10/5): - Spacious room, very comfortable futon bed, clean, and friendly hosts. About a 5-minute walk from the ferry, a safe and peaceful walk to the hotel. Excellent Japanese dining at Miyama only footsteps away. We totally enjoy our stay and would stay again when we return to Miyajima.
- Alicja (10/5): - We really enjoyed our one night there. The owners are very welcoming and caring and the rooms are spacious and comfortable. Honestly, we wished we stayed longer!
- James (10/5): - Wonderful stay with very sweet owners. The largest, most comfortable room and best onsen/shared bath we’ve had in our time in Japan.
- Frederick (10/5): - Beautiful room, with lovely and accommodating hosts.
Bon accueil. Bain privatif. Bon petit déjeuner
- Andy (10/5): - Ryokan experience old school tatami mats and private onsen!! Great experience with staff. Wish I stayed longer, it was really peaceful there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice place, however a bit old. Service is very good
- Alexis (6/5): Very Japanese and Special - It was really misleading about payment. The website said they accepted credit card but they are cash only. Thank goodness my friend had money because I did not. I’ve been trying to figure out why this would happen. There is a fireplace and a massage chair and a public bath. I wouldn’t stay here again probably.
- Lili (8/5): - The private bath is really relaxing.
BE AWARE : CASH ONLY. When I reserved on Expedia I didn’t pay straight away. I choose to do it at the hotel. I was supprise that I coulnd’t pay with my credit card once there. Have I known, I would have probably paid on Expedia.
- Jessica (8/5): - The room was spacious and the couple who run the hotel are lovely. The onsen in the property was also very relaxing after a day of hiking Mt Misen. Great location, close to the shopping street yet away from the crowds of people.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Feel like home - Family hotel, where you feel like home. Traditional Japanese rooms, hyper kind service, free snacks in the morning (coffe, water, fruit, biscuits), fireplace, and relax chair in main living room. It was like visiting my parents or grandparents in my hometown. I would recommend it.
- J (10/5): - Great location. Very friendly. Lovely atmosphere.
- Cheung Lam Kevin (10/5): Great new year experience - We stay at Kotobuki on new year eve. I had a great stay and the hosts are very nice. They prepared the Japanese new year noodle for all guests, and told us what new year events to look for. The whole island was under festive atmosphere and we had a great time.
- AJJ Lombard (10/5): Great night on Miyajima Island - Very friendly helpful reception and welcome. Great place to stay to experience Japanese hotel with tatami mat room. Excellent location.
- DD (8/5): - Overall, good location close to ferry, shops, restaurants and sites on the island.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice guesthouse close to shops and restaurants. - I loved The Mijajima Hotel New Kotobuki. It was charming, clean, and spacious. Our room was very comfortable and the futons and bedding great! The room had heating, which some hotels in Japan do not. The public bath was very relaxing. The hosts were friendly and helpful. The street was just behind the main street so it was quiet. They had a common room with a large T.V. and a massage chair!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Cash-only - The hotel was fine for our needs - 1 night stay. Our biggest frustration was that the hotel was cash-only, so we had to withdraw money in order to pay. Overall, didn't feel like great value for the money.
- Hugo (8/5): Friendly and modern family hotel - Well loczted in the quiet second stret back from the waterfront, the Kotobuki is a great place to stay. The owners are very friendly and keen to help out with any advice (finding a place to eat can be a small challenge some evenings). Rooms very cofortable.
Recommended.
- Ricardo (8/5): Leave your key at the door - The hotel is well located off the main street, but ine block away from everything. It's micomanaged and all your needs are provided and accounted for. Outdated and charming place.
- John (8/5): Peaceful - If the room want non-refundable, I would have booked a more convenient location when my plans changed slightly. I also think it is odd that a credit card secures your reservation and guarantees that non-refundablility, but they accept cash only as payment for the room...
The couple who runs the inn were great. The island is beautiful and peaceful. The room was very large and the bathroom very small. It took a couple attempts to get the air conditioning working but I was eventually successful.
- Christopher (8/5): - It was a very pleasant stay. The owners are adorable. The hotel is a little bit old though.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Welcoming owners - The island is beautiful and this is a comfortable and affordable well located bed and breakfast to rest your head for the night. With wonderful hosts.
- Sunita (10/5): - The hosts were so nice. The area was perfect. Quiet but still in the middle of the action. Everything you could ask for.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Miyajima Island - Travelled to Miyajima and wanted to stay on the island for close proximity to shopping, hikiing and shirine. This hotel was perfect for our stay and the hotel owners are the nicest people. After spending all day on our feet walking and hiking around the island, the co-ed private bath really felt great. Its location, comfort and nice staff will definitely have me coming back in the future.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location in heart of Miyajima with easy access from Ferry and room felt like a Ryokan but more modern.
- raquel (6/5): Nice hotel close to shopping area - The hotel was cute but bathroom very small and uncomfortable, however, the bed and the room in general was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast included was very limited not too much to offer, but at least they provide coffee, tea, water, yogourt and fruits to start the day.
- Benjamin (10/5): Cozy stay on a wonderful island. - Our stay was wonderful. The staff were amazing and wonderful and so friendly. We immediately felt right at home. The rooms are large and comfortable. The kotatsu was perfect and the included tea, and yukatas really made it comfortable.
