The room we got was spaciius enough although i must say their towels are very old that the white color looks almost grey. They throw pillows smelled that we had to request for the replacement pillows. The hotel is affordable for short stay in malaysia, location is close to major site seeing areas and to the train. They clean the room daily, but somehow there is a distinct smell on the bathroom especially in the morning. Overall. For a short cheap stay in KL, this is not a bad hotel.

- Verified traveler (6/5): Nice hotel near to Chinatown - I arrived late at night and the chap in charge was very pleasant and had me checked in promptly after having to deal with some irate customers. They spoke Indian (whatever dialect) so I had no idea whether it was warranted or not but he handled it well. The room was very clean and after a hiccup (not cleaning my room whilst I was away shopping) the next day, they picked up their act and every day after it was thoroughly cleaned. Two complementary bottles of water every day was a nice touch in such a humid country. I walked from my hotel to the Butterfly Park, Bird Park and Aquaria and a lot of malls were nearby for me to shop in. I dined often in Chinatown but there were numerous other restaurants around for me to vary my diet. A Monorail and MRT stop were nearby which made traveling around KL a breeze and KL Sentral wasn't too far away making it very easy to get to Kuala Lumpur International Airport. If you're there to get out-and-about it certainly is a well placed hotel but don't think of spending a lot of time in your room watching TV because there are only two English speaking stations (BBC and HBO) worth watching and after an hour of news or a movie, it becomes very repetitive. An International TV package would've been handy for rainy days but on this visit that wasn't to be. Overall though, a pleasant hotel to stay at.
- Chan Seng (2/5): Smelly Room - Room is really smelly, pillow and bed smell of sweats and smoke and all my clothings smell so bad that I have to wash them at a laundry shop. Bought a can of air freshener and spray the whole can but still can't get rid of the bad smell on the bed and pillow. Did not get more that 2 hours of sleep per night in my 2 night stay at this hotel even when I put the towels onto the pillows. Location is ok but if you can't sleep, it defeat the purpose of booking into a hotel room.

Pros: Located right across a metro station and withing a walking distance (a couple of kilometers) from the main sights. Cons: Stayed in a so-called "deluxe" room. It is not even close to deluxe, the photos are misleading. The room is not maintained properly - dirty walls (including the bathroom), dirty ceiling, floor and windows. The breakfast is also quite basic, although it was not a problem personally for me.

- Laurence (2/5): Embarrassing - On my 2nd day here, I slipped on the forecourt of the Sandpiper Hotel, after it had rained. I received a small cut on my elbow. Unfortunately, during the night, the band-aid that I had on it, came off, and the wound reopened, leaving some smears of blood on the sheets. I informed the receptionist in the morning. He said it wasn’t a problem, and he would get housekeeping to change the linen. When I returned later that evening, the bed hadn’t been changed. I was then told that the hotels policy was to throw away linen with blood on it, and the linen wouldn’t be changed till I paid for the “damage”. I have worked at several hotels and at a hospital laundry, and none of them throw away bloodstained linen, (or charge a guest for bleeding on them.) I know that blood on the sheets sounds unpleasant, but it is no different to sweat, urine or vomit etc, all of which ends up on hotel linen, and get washed. I decided to pay them anyway, as I was staying for another 5 nights, and didn’t want to stay in a bad atmosphere. The house-cleaner told me later, that the hotel does this all the time, and not just with blood, and that they make it unpleasant for people who don’t pay up. When I checked out, and handed in my key, the manager told me, that I couldn’t leave the hotel, till “security” had checked my room for damage. They sent one guy up to my room, and placed another at the main door, so I couldn’t leave before they had finished checking.

It is just about 10 mins walking to Petaling Street and 15 minutes to Time Square and Monorail station. The price of the room is just reasonably cheap. Will choose this hotel when i go to KL again.

- Becky (4/5): Please don't. There are many better options. - I am not super picky. I think it's important to know that at the start. In a hotel room I am looking for clean, reasonable bed, quiet. This hotel offers a comfortable bed and sadly that is all. They only have single or twin beds which they will 'make up' to a double but this just means pushing them together. The walls are paper thin. I'm a heavy sleeper so this does not normally matter but WOW. I could hear the person in the next room put things on the counter, flush, etc. The doors and elevators all beep like an alarm when held open so throughout the night you hear this beeping. The room was cleaned but only basics. It appears as though they have never updated, repaired damages or repainted. There was mold throughout the bathroom. The room had no windows. We didn't think this was a big deal at first but it really impacted on our holiday. We rarely spend much time in our room and prefer to be out and about enjoying the location we're visiting. However I got sick so spent a little more time in the hotel and was terrible disappointed that I had to be there. The lack of window resulted in us experiencing jet lag. The lack of sun messes with your sleep pattern and honestly - who makes a hotel room without a window?! The breakfast provided only eggs and sweet potatoes for my gluten free husband and the rest was only basically edible for me. Not worth paying for- not even a little. We even considered moving to another hotel but had a non-refundable booking so stuck it out.
- Matt (8/5): Great location, close to Chinatown and shopping. - We had a fantastic stay at the Sandpiper. It was a great location and very convenient for Petaling Street, Central Market and some of the main shopping malls. The staff were great. We have a 4 and a 6 year old, and the staff were awesome with our kids. The door man Faisel (sorry if i spelled it incorrectly) was brilliant. Air con worked, shower was hot and clean. For the price, you couldn't ask for any more.

- Andrew (8/5): Value for money - I took my wife and her mother to Kuala Lumpur for a surprise weekend break from Jakarta . I am British but my wife and her mother are Indonesian so we knew there would be no language problems as Indonesian and Malay are virtually identical languages.. I chose this hotel mainly on the location being a few minutes by taxi [taxi less than £3] from the railway station so with the express train from the airport the hotel is less than an hour from the airport. I knew what to expect from this type of hotel and first impressions were better than expected as was the standard of English at check in, the foyer was clean and friendly with somebody permanently on the door to open it for you. Whereas that may not be a big thing to some people being welcomed with a smile means a lot to some people. We had rooms 209 and 210 which was quite adequate for our needs being reasonably equipped with wall mounted flat screen TV, refrigerator, hair dryer and the all important kettle, bottles of water, tea coffee etc, the hotel provides powdered milk but there is a 7/11 next door if you want the real stuff. There was only one cup in our room but we only needed one and I am sure another would have been provided if I asked. Most importantly the room and bathroom were clean and the bed was comfortable and the vital air conditioning was excellent, we had 2 good nights sleep. Breakfast was what I expected with the usual array of options my only criticism is that breakfast does not start until 07.00.

- Verified traveler (4/5): Bad Stay! - The hotel is well located, close to Butik Bintang and Chinatown. Unfortunately flaw in little things that put together become hard to digest. We had requested a double room with two single beds, we were given a room with a double bed. Bathroom with shower with no curtain and therefore tended to flood completely even because of the filling of the same. Little soundproof rooms, they could hear noises from other rooms. Poor breakfast: just a bit of bread and jam for dessert, while the salty noodles and some eastern variety. No milk, only coffee, tea and orange juice.

- Aveek (6/5): Good value of money with great connectivity. - It was my 2nd stay at this hotel. I love this hotel due to it's location n cleanliness. It's just opposite to Pudu Sentral which provides most connectivity to all around KL. I'll definitely try to stay here in future though the rooms r quite tiny.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great location - This was only my second time travelling overseas. I was surprised that my room had no window and that I needed my room key to be plugged in so the room could have electricity. Also surprised that there was no separation between the shower stall and the commode. So there was a bit of culture shock on my part about some of the lodging amenities. I have good memories of this place and should I ever return to Kuala Lumpur, I would definitely stay here again.
- KA (6/5): Think twice before you stay - The water in the shower was not hot - ever. There was a mouse running up and down the curtains during the night. It woke me up and I requested a room change, which they obliged - but only after they questioned me like I didn't know what I heard and saw.

- Evelyn (8/5): No hotel breakfast when promised on Hotels.com - Booked a hotel room - family nest - for 3 persons and it was not too small, had separate cubicles for shower and toilet, and it was clean (as the hotel is still quite new). There was no counter to hold our luggage so we placed it on the floor. The air-con in the room was blowing directly at our faces in bed so it was a little uncomfortable, but overall, the room was good for the price paid. Hotel is right opposite Pudu Sentral, which is convenient for onward travel to other parts of Malaysia (but be aware of the touts there). About 8 minutes walk to Jalan Petaling (KL's Chinatown). However, when I booked the room via Hotels.com, it was mentioned that there was breakfast included. When I checked in, the hotel concierge said there was no breakfast with the price I paid. I was not very hard up on the hotel breakfast but this was false advertising on Hotels.com's part so it's upsetting.

If you have the option to spend a few more $, do it, and get yourseld a better hotel! It will be worth it! Ah, and people in the rooms and hotel, so it does smell as a pub...

- Yousof (6/5): Nice and Clean Hotel - Location is great, a few steps from Pudu Station and approx 5 minutes stroll to Bukit Bintang. Staffs are ok but out that outstanding service as I would personally expected. The hotel building looks very new and nice from outside, but inside the lobby very pale, small and not attractive as it outside look. The rate is good compare with some other hotels next door. Breakfast is included. Buffet breakfast about 6 to 8 different selection on the menu, at least breakfast menus are different every morning, not same breakfast, but the buffet is very average. Restaurant staffs are very neutral, not so friendly. A double standard room is small (it is small actually) compare with a few of next door hotels that I have stayed there previously but the room is clean. A good size of bathroom, room facilities are near new. Overall, it is a good hotel, great budget hotel that include breakfast, location is good.

- Kenneth (8/5): Excellent budget hotel - This is a very good budget hotel, centrally located opposite the Pudu bus station and in easy walking distance to Bukit Bintang and the twin towers in one direction and Chinatown and petaling Street in the other. My one complaint is that there was no fruit (or cereal) for breakfast. The orange juice was really orange cordial, but with some fruit and perhaps some cereal options it would be a very good breakfast. I particularly commend the friendly, efficient service throughout the hotel.

The manager went up to serve my bro due to power trip. Breakfast is nice, unique breakfast You have to park ure vehicle at the private carpark. Due to no inhouse carpark.

- Corey (4/5): Some walk-in closets are bigger than this - The room was so small, it was hard to find a place to store your luggage or turn around. the desk is so small and so close to the bed, that it really is not useable as a desk at all and mainly serves as a shelf. The shower had great water pressure and was about the only positive. TV only had only 2 English channels. The buffet type breakfast was very limited in choice and the coffee was more like hot water with some color. Front desk staff and the doorman were very kind.

- Lonely Traveler (8/5): Good for the price - Pros: New renovated hotel. Clean. Masjid Jamek LRT station in 10 minutes walking distance. Near to main visiting areas. Cons: Only the main staff knows english. I choose "cuckoos nest" which had no window but still satisfied.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good and cheap - Good hotelfor its price. Rooms are New, clean and big enough for two People. Beds ar comfortable, aircon works properly. Staff helps and breakfast is Ok. On the other hand, shower doesnt have a courtain or Door so bathroom floor gets all wet, wifi didnt work 2 out of 3 nights and even though we checked in at 5 pm one of the Rooms wasnt ready. I recomend this hotel.
- Isel (10/5): Clean, basic, convenient and new - We stayed at the Sandpiper on the 7th day it opened. You can tell how fresh and new everything is. The staff was extremely pleasant, friendly and eager to assist. They held our bags until our room was ready as we went on a day trip on the day we arrived. The room was clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. The location was extremely convenient. We were across the street from the bus station (which we needed) and a short walk to Jalan Alor so we were able to get a great meal. In the morning, we took advantage of the complimentary breakfast and again received outstanding service.
