Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Check-in was fast, the reception staff spook OK English. Breakfast was OK, but not excellent. Shower head was broken. Reported but not fixed. Stayed for 4 nights. Good value for the price.
- Judson (10/5): The best hideaway in the middle of the city - This is an amazing place! Breakfast is terrific. The room was quiet, large, and well done and the staff is more than helpful. They literally have 3 rooftop terrace and it’s located on the edge of the historic district walkways to give you. Perfect escape from any crowds. An oasis truly
- Ana (10/5): - This was an excellent choice.
The hotel is very simple but nice and classy.
Excellent location, I will love to go back to it and have the chance to enjoy the pool and other facilities. Very good stay.
- Mariana (2/5): Not a good experience - We arrived at the hotel and the staff informed us that do to a pluming issue we would noty be able to stay there. No other possible room to stay in. We were only offered another room in a partner hotel called Casa del faro. The condition of the hotel was not good. It was deteriorated and the decoration looked old. The pool area needs a lot of work. The room had a bad smell and we were not given another option as to where to stay. The staff was helpful and tried to be as useful as they could, but it was definitely not satisfactory.
- Hayder (10/5): Très bon hôtel. - Hôtel très propre et très bien placé.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Estaba bien ubicado..
La habitación era amplia y limpia
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the proximity to everything.
And the fact it was quiet at night no cars or no discos next door.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pros:
Excellent location a quick walk to the core of restaurants and bars in Centro Historico
Friendly and helpful staff. Front desk fluent in English.
Room/bathroom/shower look modern and clean
Hot water shower with good pressure
Comfortable bed
A/C works great
Generous supply of shampoo and shower gel provided
Nice selection of meals offered for free breakfast
Hotel entrance is securely guarded by front desk 24 hours
Cons:
Noise from other guests slamming their doors frequently during the night
Hot tub wasn't operational
I didn't see the on-site 24 hour pizza place (?)
- Mike (10/5): Very nice experience - Friendly staff, nice facility and location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location and the rooftop is terrific to read or cool down.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - We had stayed several times in the sister property. Pros: the personnel is very attentive, and always keen to help. Cons: location, is on a pedestrian street just at the side of a busy intersection, getting taxis can be challenging as they cannot get just in front of the property; it can be quite noisy. I would suggest to provide separate towels for the pool.
- Sara (10/5): Great value for money - Amazing location, super friendly staff, excellent breakfast. Loved this boutique hotel!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Homey Comfy and Cosey. - Reception service was good. The breakfast was good and chef was very nice. The hotel is much smaller than others that will come up on search but the level of professionalism and warmth of staff is more of a homey feeling. The bathrooms are tiny and congested but the overall hotel gas a fabulous personality.
- Carol (8/5): Colombian Holiday - Very nice small but cosy hotel
- Neil (4/5): What did I pay for? - The power went out twice, I realize that these things occur but for a hotel charging $65/night one would assume they could budget for a backup generator like the shoe store directly in front selling Chinese réplicas of sports shoes. It was so prolonged and frequent that they moved me to another hotel. Pool was under contruction... I just don't know where to begin but I think I've done pretty well.
- Andy (10/5): This hotel is in the middle of history center - It was really good, the staff is amazing and the hotel is located in the middle of history center of Santa Marta..!
- Alejo (10/5): Amazing - this place was over my budget but the atmosphere and the location was perfect. walking distance to every little restaurant. Highly recommended for santa marta guests.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Cozy hotel. As described. Good thing is the AC in the room. Breakfast was good.
Pool on the roof with nice view.
- Francisco (4/5): Not what we thought we were going to get! - This hotel calls itself "boutique." It should be "boo-tique." The rooms are not very clean. The piano (I guess where they got their name) is completely a disaster. We needed to extend an extra night, and boy did they charge us for that. Almost double what we paid for the initial reservation per night. Breakfast staff was good and the dining area is very nice even though cramped. Not much selection on food, but then dieting has always been my thing. Rooftop pool was nice. Location was actually good, on a pedestrian mall. Rooms and hotel don't actually match. A bit deceptive. They are really sitting on a gold mine if they'd just make some changes and improvements.
- Roger (8/5): good hotel for short stay. - Hotel was OK for s short stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect location - Really comfortable hotel. really good deal for the price.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Sweet hotel - Super staff. Very solicitous.
Great Cuba Libre.
Excellent breakfast.
- Massimiliano (2/5): Just do you a favour do not book this hotel - The hotel is incredibly dirty and you will notice that as soon as you go in being welcomed in a dirty reception with not air conditioning. The counter of the reception is actually sticky and dusty. The photos you will see on any booking sites are wide angled to make the rooms look bigger in reality they are not apart from the high ceiling. There are not windows looking on the outside meaning there is no natural light making it rather claustrophobic. Now the choice of making the furnishing and the interior design white does not help hiding the dirt. I had a very bad service from them when pointing those things out I wanted to cancel my booking made through hotels.com and paid in advance. They told me about their not refundable policy and excused the dirt and poor maintenance of the hotel only saying "we are sorry this is an old building". I complained to Expedia ( hotels.com) and they were not helpful at all. When I suggested to at least change room they just told me it would cost me more. Something that I've never had before, on the contrary in other hotels they always try the best to accommodate the needs. I also suggested to move my reservation to another of their closer hotels and was told they were full, when I checked they actually had availability. Weird! So in my opinion you are better off somewhere else. Also the location of this hotel is extremely noisy and trafficked which doesn't help either with the heat and the humidity. So I would not recommend it even though th
- Andrea (8/5): Cute and affordable - booked this hotel for my parents. They enjoyed the room but were dissatisfied with the jacuzzi running on cold water.
- Andres (10/5): Great Hotel for a good price - Excellent Hotel, located in the area where are all the good resaturants and bars. Is also very near to Santa Marta's "Marina" and the staff are very friendly and help you with any doubt you have. The hotel room is very comfortable, the rooms are clean and they have plenty of space. My only complain was that the Wifi network is a little slow, but you will spend your time in the beach so this is not an issue. Very good hotel, I will come back any time, also the breakfast is great!
- Andy (10/5): Nice hotel, great location - We booked this place last minute as we needed somewhere to stay in Santa Marta. So close to great restaurants, bars, a huge supermarket, ATMs and the beach. The staff were so friendly and accomodating. At the price I don't think you'll find better - would stay again!
- Deyanira Barrero (8/5): Good time. Small hotel nice. - Pretty nice. We just stay for one night, every thing was good.
- Gavin (10/5): Fantastic hotel and great location - An absolutely fantastic hotel! Situated I'm a great area of Santa Marta. Very impressed with the decor, breakfast and the staff were incredible - especially Gian Franco who offered to keep our bags while we explored Tayrona for a couple of days. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great boutique hotel in fantastic location - We loved our stay at la casa del piano! Rooms were nice with comfortable beds and a/c. The location was perfect! It was located on a main street close to the best restaurants, bars, and shops. The pool area was a bit small but was enough to be able to sit and relax in the sun. Breakfast was fantastic with fresh fruit and your choice of menu item. Would definitely recommend staying here!
- Sandra (10/5): Well worth the money. - Friendly service minded staff. Charming building. Spacious room. Amazing breakfast terrace. Very pleased.
- Michael (8/5): Extended stay - Nice stay, extended to stay three days in total. Rooms were cleaned, after highlighting hair all over room - but no issue after this with cleanliness. Great location. Nice breakfast. Staff friendly, but the information they give is inconsistent with each other, and third parties (I.e. Time bus transfer is to arrive and depart, and the cost.) TV didn't work in either room
- John (8/5): Nice Small Hotel - It´s located in downtown, 1 - 2 blocks away from good restaurants and bars. Beach is about 8 blocks away. the entrance to the hotel is located in a walking boulevard, so you can´t get there in a car and you have to drag your bags a few yards on your own. Rooms are small but cozy. I couldn´t use the jacuzzy but I heard it was good. Breakfast is small but delicious. Parque de los Novios, is a nice little park two blocks away surrounded by restaurants and places to relax.
- Judith (10/5): - Small, very friendly hotel in perfect location for our needs. An oasis of calm away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets. Excellent location, taxis and buses a few metres away so traffic noise might bother some but no problem for us. Would definitely stay here again
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely hotel - In a great location with very friendly staff.the rooms were very clean breakfast is really nice and loved the rooftop pool.
- Chris (8/5): A Pretty & Friendly Hotel - From the warm and friendly welcome my stay here was a pleasant one. The location is good as there are shops, bars and restaurants a few minutes walk away. The layout with outside breakfast area, terrace and small swimming pool is really nice with some shaded areas. The staff are always helpful and English is quite well spoken. Considering the room with TV and Air Con, breakfast and service you really get value for money here. The only downside is the lack of hot water for showers etc....but it is very hot outside anyway.
- Thomas (4/5): The area has potential, but, no. - Very unfriendly breakfast staff overall bad attitudes . The area has potential to be a nice touristy place however due to lack of security and police presence the nearby tourist zone "parquet de pis novios" and adjacent patio restaurants are littered with drug addict bums and beggars. Also the narrow dark streets seem very dangerous at night . I have spent many nights out on the town in Bogotá and Cartagena with no issues, however due to the reasons mentioned above Santa Marta is a real dump .
If you're going to enjoy the nearby Tayrona natural park and beautiful beaches , I recommend staying at the nearby fishing village Taganga. There a decent reasonably priced hotels there and the people are very friendly and helpful . Just an overall better experience
- Verified traveler (10/5): Excellent location in the historical center - The people that work there really do go above and beyond to work with you and help you out where ever possible. They are a great resource for information and always have a smile. If I ever go back to Santa Marta I will definately stay here.
- Gustavo (10/5): Amazing stay - Everyone was wonderful, the staff was very knowledgable about what to do and when I asked where I could see the Super Bowl they found the place, gave me the address and phone number. The food every morning was amazing, I will definitely go back there
- Mario (8/5): Great location, friendly staff - Place is in a great neighborhood, right in the center of town- close to everything. There's a supermarket almost across the street. The same very street the hotel is located has some of the best restaurants in town.
Staff are friendly and helpful. While their English might not be the very best, they get full points for trying to make ones stay enjoyable.
Electricity can go off at times , particularly on gusty nights. There's a tree inside the hotel and on those same gusty nights the rustling of tree leaves can keep one awake if one is a light sleeper.
Breakfast is very good.
- Laura (10/5): - We had the Mozart room. Casa del Piano is perfectly located and everything in the room seemed new. Hot breakfast included, internet in your room, air, cable, pool, hot tub, good security and excellent customer service from all staff.
- Daniel (10/5): Two night stay - The hotel was beautiful. When we arrived, Valentina gave us a great walk through and advice on how to see the area. That counsel was invaluable as it saved us a great deal of research. Our room was very well appointed and comfortable. We did not use the pool or spa, but they were beautiful. Breakfast was delicious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A really cozy hotel - The hotel is located in the historical part of town and the is really helpful.
- Nicolás (8/5): Good hotel with nice location but no parking - Nice hotel with a cool pool at the top. The only problem is that it's far away from the parking lot, so if your driving you will have to walk with your baggage quite far. I didn't like the fact that checkout is at 12 and there is no extension for late checkout, which is a bummer.
The rooms are OK but nothing too great. The bathrooms are small.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very nice little hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. Excellent location.
- Johanna (8/5): Nice hotel. - This is a very nice hotel, new and located very near the best area of downtown Santa Marta. Breakfast has several options and staff is really nice. Pool is small but cozy. My only problem was overall cleanliness. It should be better for this type of hotel. Also towels are not sufficient and bathroom amenities are almost none existent. For the price I think you should get a lot more.
- Teodoro (10/5): LOVE LOVE PERFECT. - im in love with this hotel. PERFECT PERFECT again, PERFECT location
- Verified traveler (6/5): The hotel is too close to a very noisy area - Staff was nice and helpful but location was not good and facilities were very basic
- Andres (6/5): Things to improve/ lovely hotel - The hotel is in a ugly neighbor. The hotel is incredible. The breakfast is delicius, the transportation from and to the airport is not included. A lot of restaurants near the hotel. Great cost / benefit. The jacuzzi still broken.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Pretty Good I must say - To put it simply, I had a great stay here. The rooms were clean and the hotel staff were very helpful. I would stay here again.
- Rodriguez (10/5): Nice Hotel, amazing staff - We loved the rooms, the staff was attentive and incredibly helpful.
The street isn´t that nice, though it is well located in terms of places to visit near by.
GREAT HOTEL, recommended
