- ALtravel1223 (8/5): Overrun by dogs - We stay here often when we visit family in the area. There’s so many perks that others have mentioned but jfc you really need to love dogs. It’s like a zoo at this point. Huge dogs, small dogs.. you name it, they’re everywhere. There was a huge barking dog at social hour this past weekend and another barking drooling dog sticking its head up by the coffee tea display in the am. There needs to be more regulation with pets. Owners need to stop parading them around paying guests who may not want a dog near them. The rooms carpets are already getting gross; I can’t fathom how filthy they are with the amount of pets staying. Kimpton please get hardwoods and stop allowing the dogs in the common areas around food/drinks.

The reception and door people seemed to be distracted. They were absolutely nice when asked a question, but pretty reactive otherwise.

- Lori (9/5): Stunning hotel - The atmosphere, staff and accommodations were absolutely wonderful. The rooms were well furnished and the interior design was vibrant and stunning. We loved that we could walk to various restaurants and attractions nearby. We were going to use the valet service but the lanes were so backed up that we weren't able to get access. The easy solution for us was to park at the Smithfield/Liberty Street parking garage & walk up Strawberry Way straight to the hotel. Wasn't a bad walk at all.

- Maureen (10/5): Loved our time there, and we would definitely go back! - We loved the decor of the entire hotel and our room specifically. The hotel’s location was ideally situated for attending the ballet at the Benedum Center, and we were surrounded by great cafés and restaurants. They had a lovely happy hour as well as complementary coffee in the morning. There was even a desk to write some postcards, and both the cards and the stamps were provided. The room was very comfortable with great bedding. We ordered room service from the fabulous restaurant downstairs and it was delivered quickly. The food was wonderful and next time we go, we’ll dine in a restaurant in person. We used the valet parking and the guys who parked our cars were very professional and quick. The bell men were also super helpful with our bags coming and going. I would like to have been able to turn the thermostat lower than 67. I’m a hot sleeper! But honestly, that’s it, we really loved everything else.

Fit and finish was showing it's age and need freshened up. Some of the furnishings in our room had stains and should have been corrected prior to booking the room. One of the floor lamps was plugged in with an orange extension cord. 😳 Many manufacturers make beautiful fabric cover cords made for this application.

From the spacious room and beautiful décor to the incredibly comfortable bed and large bathroom, every detail was thoughtfully done. The overall atmosphere was stylish and welcoming, and the complimentary happy hour for guests was such a nice touch. Kimpton truly goes above and beyond, and I can’t wait to stay again. Nothing could have been better.

We stayed at Premium room with the bathtub. The only thing is terrible pillows (Please replace them ASAP !!!). During your stay make sure (TIP !!!!) you book a room with breakfast (to die for!). Probable one of the best breakfast we've ever had. TIP ! Park at the Public Parking around the corner. If you don't want to have your car dented (our was((( unfortunately park at lever 6 (lowest) since parking spaces are very tight. Overall terrific stay! Highly recommend!

- EdinDC (4/5): A disappointing stay from a good hotel. - We’ve stayed here several times over the past ten years. Unfortunately, things are changing for the worse here. The good stuff: The hotel is well-located. Easy to walk to many shops, restaurants and bars. And there is a large, inexpensive parking garage less than a half-block away. Decor is fun and funky while still serving guest comfort well. There’s lots of good lighting and storage space. There’s a large tv cabinet with a refrigerator and drawers for some clothes. Rooms are well appointed with high-quality bed linens and towels. They are extremely dog friendly. and there are lots of dogs here. The not so good: They need to work on their heat/ac/thermostat issues. Someone there seems to think locking the thermostats and restricting a guests ability to set their own temperature levels was the right way to address a finicky system. It was not. Our room was too warm when trying to go to sleep last night, and then wouldn't come on when we wanted to warm the room up in the morning. To help with our discomfort last night they sent up a dyson fan. unfortunately, the fan was delivered without a remote, which is needed to operate the fan. they then delivered a second, identical fan, but again without a remote making it useless...someone is not thinking through what they’re doing and how they’re doing it. water pressure at the sink and shower were very poor. i think they have a lot of work to do to get back to the higher standard of hospitality they used to provide.

One specific example being that they make promises for groups using the Commoner Lobby bar that were not true. When group showed up, they were turned away. Despite the fact that that the lobby bar usage was the primary reason for staying here. The bar staff of the Commoner were not welcoming and rude to hotel guests on arrival. Bait and switch when it was time to deliver.

- John (2/5): - We booked a corner room junior suite at this hotel. When we first arrived there was nowhere to park on the street to have the valet take the car. We were told to go around the block and they would hold an open space a few cars back. We went round and had to park the car ourselves in that space. We gave the keys and went inside to check-in. The room looked ok after check-in so we unpacked. When we used the bathroom sink, leaked right out onto the floor. We called the front desk who wanted to fix it but couldn't say how long it would take (and it was already late). We were moved to a new room by a front desk person, and told it was an upgrade, but the new room was half the size. The front desk texted me to say they had added "10,000 points" to my IHG account and credited me for the valet charge for my inconvenience. I said this was unacceptable but would speak in the morning. Now it's almost midnight and we lost an hour of sleep. We left our breakfast order on the door knob. The kitchen called repeatedly at 7am until we were awakened only to say the "steak and eggs" we ordered was a misprint on the menu, it was $41 not $14 as advertised, did we still want it? Another 90 minutes of sleep lost. I noticed when we woke I had a phone notification from my car app that said that our (valeted) car was unlocked on the street. I texted the front desk about this issue. Breakfast arrived, we had ordered two coffees and only received one. Then the front desk called, to s

Parking could definitely be a challenge if you aren’t familiar with downtown PGH and the way things operate, but valet was quick, helpful and very kind. The ladies at the front desk were SO friendly! They were quick to acknowledge me, check us in, and gave a very detailed rundown of the property, making our welcome warm and inviting. The rooms are cozy, the decor is chic and the beds are comfy! Bathroom was clean and stocked with amenities. We didn’t take advantage of their room service/ in room breakfast delivery - which I did find to be a mistake on our end because getting morning coffee was a task since there are no coffee makers in the room, but again, my fault for not ordering! Maya at the front desk, along with Matt, Jesse, and the whole crew, went out of their way to make us feel extra celebrated. Kimpton Monaco Pittsburgh will always be our favorite hotel!

We had such a lovely meal with friends in the restaurant, which was excellent! The seating area on the mezzanine was wonderful for chatting with our guests and it was located in a convenient area of downtown Pittsburgh. I would highly recommend anyone stay here for a luxury stay. The price was right to consider considering!

Valet took 30 minutes on average to retrieve the car every time so plan accordingly. I ended up using ride share twice because of retrieval time. Car also came back scuffed (not scratched) every time they brought it to me. Requested room with a bathtub for my daughter (Expedia listed it as available with my room selection) and did not receive it.

Front desk management/ staff of the hotel left a bad impression unfortunately. Even after sorting out a huge fumble upon arrival (apology given in elevator-not in front of staff after error which left me waiting for 45 mins at check in like it was my fault), valet and front desk staff remained unbothered, and uninterested throughout my stay. No hellos, no dinner recommendation, no ‘how is your stay going?’- perhaps they didn’t want to know. Was late for dinner because valet didn’t bring car. Room not made up even after being out all day- two times had to remind front desk. In full transparency I received a credit but too little too late. For this price I don't want to feel like I am a nuisance to the staff. Such a shame. It’s this property- not the brand.

The coffee was ready in time in the morning and changed. Even the restaurant looked appealing. Good water pressure, comfortable bed, working AC. The staff, however, is the greatest amenity here. Always head up, with a smile for the guests and usual recommendations. A very well managed hotel.
