Guest Reviews
- Simona (2/5): Horrible experiencia - No sabíamos siquiera si podríamos entrar.
- Miguel Ángel (8/5): - Cocina bien surtida y limpia.
- Louis (10/5): - Same as always, just what l need.
- Michael1983G (4/5): Just about ok.. - Make sure to book your car park before arrival to avoid disappointment. The ski cellar looks like it hasn’t been cleaned in years and the restaurant opens relatively late which means you either go to the centre to eat and rush to make the lift up before 19.45 or you walk a lot of stairs
- shane (8/5): Good trip - Good locations close to bars and ski lifts.. can be noisy at night
- Louis (10/5): - Just at 5 minutes from the center to go up skiing.
- MARIA JOSEFA (8/5): - Muy bien situado, el párking perfecto. Las camas no muy confortables.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We wanted cheap and basic accommodation whilst skiing. Being out alll day we just needed bed and bathroom! Basic but good accommodation and very helpful staff. Just what we needed. Added bonus of the underground car parking.
- sarahcU1229LX (2/5): There was no room at the inn - We felt like Mary and Joseph staying in the stables. When we opened the door to our room, we were greeted by beautiful plywood walls and furniture constructed from particle board. The heat had not been turned on in preparation for our visit, so I had to keep my snow pants on to keep warm for the first hour of our stay. The sheets seemed to have been cleaned, although I found a long black hair in my bed. The blankets, on the other hand, had obviously not been cleaned -- there were several suspicious white stains on dark blue blankets... gross! When we asked for new clean blankets, we were handed what seemed to be a table cloth. The shower is built of more cheap wood paneling which is actively molding from the moisture. I found some yummy brown stains on one of the hand towels, so I placed that on the shower floor so that my feet wouldn't be in contact with the unclean conditions. There was no soap/shampoo provided. Although the kitchenette would have been nice to utilize for breakfast, I was scared to use utensils provided in an accommodation which was so obviously unhygienic and filthy. This was a sad, sad stay. I cried.
- Jodi (10/5): Great location! - I stayed here with my partner and our 12yo nephew. The apartments were easy to find, check in was quick and easy. The room was basic (if you want a fancy room then this wouldn’t be for you) but has everything you need, the bathroom was very clean, the kitchen was equipped and the view from the room was fantastic. An added bonus was that the room had underfloor heating so was cosy and warm after a day of skiing. Staff pre-booked lift passes before we arrrive (which we arranged via email) which saves time queueing once we got there. They also recommended a place for equipment hire. Very helpful.
Overall a great stay, I would definitely stay here again.
- reyes (4/5): Pésimo - El apartamento no estaba limpio. Camas incomodas, no hay wifi, gel o champú.
- TaniaK939 (10/5): excellent - I recommend the apartments. They are close to the bars and restaurants. The apartments are clean and the underfloor heating keeps them warm all day. The reception staff are very friendly. For budget accommodation I can not fault it.
- 832Lynda (2/5): Be very careful - If you book with the office attached to these apartments be very careful, I booked these apartments via booking.com for a 2 bedroomed apartment in Monte Gorbea. Upon arrival I was told we were in a different apartment [and only 1 bedroom] on the next road up and definitely not of the same standard, also health and safety issues..!! nothing was done to resolve the problem and booking.com also do not want to assist.. very unhappy and disappointed with the standard and services of both parties.
We go every year to Monte Gorbea, so not to stay where you have booked is unacceptable unless we were advised or it is of the same standard in the same area.
- 705enzop (10/5): Super hôtel i love it - It was very good I love this hotel and the rooms are big and confort we passed a very good week in this super hotel near to the mecanical remontée. The garage is very big and have big places. The personal is super
- LoveTheSun71 (8/5): Great pit stop and location. - Stopped here for 1 night whilst on route to Granada
Cracking location - just up the steps from the main square (2 mins walk)
Parking was outside and the rooms were just the job, great value last minute booking
Room was clean and tidy - no air con but this was not needed as it was cool enough at night
- fatinhaalgarve (6/5): Weekend stay - Basic apartment close relatively to the slopes. Beds were very small but comfortable. In general, good value for money.
We only had three glasses.
Had to take quit showers as we ran out of water quite quickly.
- paulamaratona (8/5): Nice place - It is comfortable an warm apartment, very good location. Reception was nice and helpful. Few peaces to use in the kitchen. Furniture is somewhat old but the bed is nice and clean and towels clean and enough too.
- berruno (6/5): all fun expect for no wifi - so me and the wife never went to a ski resort, and for the first time we decided that this year is the year, we booked in GHM and went for a 3 day snow trip, it was really nice, sierra nevada has a real xmas touch and everything was how we expected, however, the house was not that clean, and it was a little bit messy, there was no wifi, and it had some loud people staying near us
- paulolivermcdowell (8/5): Snow snow snow - For a studio apartment, this was very large. Extremely clean and well equipped. Great location and close to the lifts. The car park was rather expensive at €15 a day. The reception is only open limited hours but the staff are very pleasant. No wifi as advertised.
- Seatizen_Pete (8/5): Not luxurious but decent. - Apartments are clean and warm though there was a smell of stale tobacco throughout (these are supposed to be non smoking apartments) and most importantly less than 5 minutes walk from the main gondola. After reading some terrible reviews on ta we were nearly going to go somewhere else but I'm glad we didn't. Complaints about noise seem unreasonable as the soundproofing is really good and we are here at one of the busiest times is the year. Also read complaints about the TV but we had a large modern flat screen with a reasonable choice of channels - mostly Spanish of course. We had a 4 person studio for the 2 of us so the space was good. With 4 it would be cramped. There is no sofa, just a kitchen table 4 chairs and 2 beds, one with a pull out other bed underneath in the main room. The 4th bed is folded in the entrance hall and if opened will prevent opening the front door so not an ideal situation in case of emergency. For 2 though, no complaints. On site parking a real bonus.
- snooty (2/5): Non findable cancellation through booking.com - I booked an apartment at GHM Gorbea through booking.com and had to cancel. They took the full payment from my account immediately and have refused to refund it despite me giving them 3 weeks notice. When I took this up with them they were very unhelpful and rude. They are total thieves. Do not book with them and judging by the other reviews are over priced and a complete rip off.
- Inma (10/5): - Todo normal
- Verified traveler (8/5): todo bien - Todo bien
- HaydnL (8/5): Basic and good value apartment for 2 singles - Basic facilities but hot shower and warm floor in the bathroom were great. We were there for the skiing and eating out at the tapas bars so this cheap accommodation suited us fine. Would be happy to return.
- Viajarpelomund (2/5): Bad Bad Bad - The rooms are bad and with no maintenance, it was raining on the room and bathroom, the hot water was not enough, I have complained about all of this but without succeed. The only thing that was high was the price....it was a horrible stay, a place to do not comeback for sure.
- Not Provided (6/5): Skidor i Sierra Nevada - Helt ok för kostnaden.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good for the price. - I think this is a very good option for staying at Sierra Nevada, considering the price .
We rented an apartment for 2, it was very small, basically a kitchen with a double bed and a bathroom. We knew from the start what to expect, and that was what we got.
We went for a snowboard trip, so we only needed a place to sleep and not much else. The room was clean, floor, kitchen tools, towels, bathroom, etc. The heater worked great and all the appliances as well.
It's also relatively close to the cable cars that takes us to the ski park. It took us less than 5 minutes by foot.
On the negative side, we had to pay extra for a parking slot(15€ a day), which we found very expensive. The view from the only window was ridiculous, we could see a little bit of the mountain, but mainly we only saw walls and roofs. The walls are paper thin, so we could hear everyone around us, which sometimes can be an issue with particularly loud Spanish people.
If I return to Sierra Nevada, I defiantly consider this hotel again.
- caroline (4/5): Room for improvement - No sign on apartments so very difficult to find.Limited hours to check in so long queue.Room not ready at 4.00.
Double room is a single bed with a pull-out.
No cooking utensils except frying pan, no jug on coffee/tea maker.
Broken heater dial, leaking shower and lights in the corridor that go out at any time leaving you in pitch darkness.
Impersonal
- Viajarpelomund (2/5): Really Bad and expensive for the value - Water infiltrariam on the bathroom and hall and it was not solved after the complain on the reception, the water was all over the apartment for the last 2 days of our stay. The apartment was cold and there was not enought heat water. It is expensive for the value
- Teresa1976_13 (8/5): One night stay - when we arrived, after four pm, as between 2 and 4 the staff have their lunch break, we went to reception and was told to ring a number as the hotel has a few different operators in there. The man Ricardo met us within 15 mins and showed us to our apartment and then let us in the car park under the apartments which was free of charge, he was so helpful and gave us some recommendations of where to have dinner that night. The room is very basic but as we were there for only one night it suited us fine. In the hall there was two bunk beds against one wall and the other side was the bathroom which was clean and a built in wardrobe. The water pressure and temperature of the water in the shower was good and there was a mobile heater to keep it warm. The main room had a single bed which underneath you pulled out another one and then on the other side there was a sofa bed. Small kitchen area and a small TV on the wall. Again there was a mobile heater in the main room which threw out loads of heat, unfortunately we forgot to turn them down when we went out so when it came to sleep the room was so hot even opening the window didn't seem to cool it down! I suppose if you were ski-ing (we were not) it would be crapped with all the ski gear and more than two people staying in the room. Check out is 11 am and you need to contact your hotel representative to let you back out of the car park again, keeping in mind it has to be before 2 or after 4 pm.
- JOHNNY_b0y_1969 (6/5): not too bad - Stayed here just after Xmas Dec 2013..myself, wife and two children under 12.
These apartments are rented out by several companies...It would appear that we chose the company that spoke zero English(via booking.com) which was a bit of a problem for us with our Spanish phrase book. Thankfully one of the other companies (AG apartments?), who have on site reception there were able to translate over the phone (you have to call them when you arrive).
He was also able to tell us how to get in and out of the building which the other lady didn't bother to tell us (probably could be bothered due to language barrier)
But these apartments are in a good location only a few mins walk from the ski hire shops and lifts.
We used Luis Sanchez sports for ski hire which was excellent at the bottom of the steps in the resort from these apartments. They held the skis overnight so you didnt have to worry about the plod back with ski boots on...massive plus...also spoke good English.
Main gripe with the stay here was the noise. Jeesus, I swear you could hear the doors being slammed from floor 1 right up where we stayed on floor 8. Spanish coming in at all times up to 3:30am. 3 nights without any decent sleep.
As other posters have said, its pretty basic and clean but fine if your happy with no thrills. Cheaper than most as well. Couldnt work out the thermostat which seems to have a mind of its own, but was very warm inside, and you could open the window if it got too hot.
- sarahjbh1 (4/5): AT BEST IT WAS AVERAGE... - We often stay in Pradollano as we ski regularly and enjoy the whole ski thing... we could get into our usual accommodation so we tried GHM.
Positive -
apartments were clean
Bad -
Couldn´t check in until 5pm and then we had to wait for 1 of our rooms
Manic floor heating that meant you had to open the windows and let in -10 breeze to keep the room bearable. No controls for heating.
Leaking taps and broken shower.
"1 bedroom" apartment was a generous description... our bedroom door wouldn´t shut unless we moved the bed....which was marginally smaller than the bedroom!
A fifty euro charge if you didn´t do your washing up.... which they don´t check as we had dirty cups etc
So if this was an economic choice or loads cheaper than a hotel then I probably wouldn´t be writing this but we paid 40 euros overall less than an aparthotel with none of the above problems. Plus these apartments are a very decent up hill walk away from ski lifts etc. I wouldn´t choose to stay here again because there aren´t any benefits over many hotels in the same resorts....
- eatoutdude (8/5): Ski-ing experience to remember... - When booking this accomodation we were looking for something economical with comfort and good facilities in mind also. We were met by our representitive Antonio who was very welcoming and professional in his manner. He explained everything to us as far as facilities etc.
The apartment was ideal for us as a couple. Very clean and spacious. We wouldn´t however recommend this to anyone other than a couple or a family of four. Access to the bathroom was via the room containing the bunk-beds. We slept in the lounge on the sofa-bed which was very comfortable and spacious. The facilities in the apartment were more than adequate with most things provided. For anyone who would like anything other than Spanish TV, we would recommend taking an IPAD or Laptop with them so they can watch programmes or listen to radio in their own language as the apartment is equipped with WiFi (own Wireless router) and the code is given on arrival for you to access the internet.
We wouldn´t recommend staying during "Semana Blanca" (White SKI Week for Schools) when the young teenagers have there vacation and can be very noisy. Check dates on the Internet as to when this would be. For information we stayed 5-8th March 2012 (Monday - Thursday).
The location was near to the Gondola´s which took you to the Piste, albeit quite a trudge down and uphill when you have your ski-equipment to carry (kept in apartment as no storage facility).
On the whole we were very happy with the apartment and good value for money. Ideal for those on a budget. Our experience overall was fantastic. We will however be looking for somewhere within the Plaza next year so we are right next to the Gondola´s with little distance to carry our equipment.
