Guest Reviews
- Rosemary (10/5): Élégant, confortable and excellent food. -
- Daniel (10/5): amazing place to stay for a get away - The cottage was amazing! Breakfast was incredible every day and we wound up eating at the Restaurant one evening and the food was first class.
- Drue (10/5): I used to stay there often 35 years ago and it was better than my memories - It’s a lovelyB&B, our dinner there was a great culinary experience and the breakfast was also wonderful.
- David (9/5): Quiet, elegant and homey - a wonderful place to stay. - My daughter and I had a wonderful time. We were given a room upgrade to the library room which was greatly appreciated. It was a beautiful room with a very comfortable bed, gorgeous bathroom and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The breakfasts that were delivered to our door in a basket were delicious. Definitely a cut above the normal fare.
- Deborah (10/5): Perfect Inn for a mini reunion! - Great location in the village and a welcoming staff. Bed was so comfortable and we had a gas fire place that we used! Beautiful interior decor. Comfy chairs and couches.
And the breakfast was a treat. Might be hard to find the Inn initially in the dark . Small sign.
- David (9/5): We would stay here again. - The fireplace was a nice touch, loved the bed and bathroom. The basket breakfast was very enjoyable. Great location close to everything. We couldn't get the ironing board to fold, and there was only one small folding table to eat the basket breakfast on.
- Sarita (9/5): We would definitely come again! - Good location, friendly staff, clean and good breakfast included. We also had dinner one evening and it was delicious. Rooms tastefully decorated and cosy especially with the fireplace. The pillows were a little hard. It was a bit noisy (hum sound) 2 of the 3 mornings in our particular room. We think it was due to the kitchen below or heating system.
- Stephanie (9/5): Very nice place. Would stay again - Location, staff, very large room The heater was a little loud in the room because it was water heat.
- James (10/5): - Very nice with pleasant staff.
- Aditya (10/5): -
- Christina (10/5): - Absolutely wonderful inn, breakfast was delivered to my door and delicious, despite what others said. Right next door to the Equinox, so you can walk to lunch and/or dinner! (The inn's restaurant wasn't the night I was there.) Only thing I can say is the hallway light was on, so it peered into my room. (I've reminded myself to always bring along an eye mask!)
- Tom (10/5): Delightful, accommodations were very good and staff was fabulous. - Both Breakfasts were good and dlivred on time. No negative experiences were encountered.
- Dan (6/5): Overall what's a nice place. - Breakfast and location where o k. Hot tub did not work in was very dirty.
- Catherine (10/5): Excellent in every way! - Reluctant Panther exceeded our expectations in every way. We had a rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks event for a wedding and the food was delicious, staff friendly and accommodating in all our requests and the location perfect.
The rooms are spacious and beautiful! Breakfast in the morning offered in your room or in the dining area was also a treat!
- Stephen (10/5): Love it there and will be back. - Nice breakfast Nothing. Everything was great
- Elizabeth (10/5): Highly recommend the Reluctant Panther. Would be happy to return and spend more time. - Loved the fireplace.
the staff is so friendly and helpful. Breakfast basket handle blew out and the breakfast spilled and broke but staff was very accommodating and returned with new set up.
- stephen (9/5): wonderful - the room was amazing, including the fireplace! the restaurant was not very cozy
- Philips (9/5): Very nice! - The presentation was darling!
The breakfast sandwich not great The mattress was very hard
I wished she had explained how to turn off the fireplace
The breakfast sandwich wasn't very good
- Richard (10/5): Great place to stay in Manchester Village. The staff is very accommodating. The special touches add to the charm of the - Charming and quaint. Great, central location in Manchester Village. Very good restaurant. Bedroom carpeting was dated.

- Eran (10/5): - Staff is very professional and kind.
Rooms are very unique
- Laura Dean (9/5): very pleasant. - Dog-friendly room had a nice
sitting room with a gas fireplace. Exit right to the outside. Breakfast is preordered and packed in a cute picnic basket waiting in the restaurant. Suggest a water station to self serve.
- Karla (10/5): -
- Christine (9/5): - Hotel was lovely with great bar and restaurant. Room was beautiful with huge comfy bed. WiFi was very patchy. Location was a good walk from main village tho good pub close by.
- peggy (8/5): Staff was wonderful Inn was charming - The breakfast was just sufficient Breakfast
- stephylew9 (10/5): Cute in with beautiful rooms and a warm welcome - My husband and I stayed at the Reluctant Panther Inn during our honeymoon recently and we had a wonderful experience. The staff were outstanding and the room that we had was stunning. We loved the cute breakfast set-up that they do - it felt really special. Location wise, the Inn is nice because it is ever so slightly out of the busier centre of Manchester, VT and this meant it was nice and quiet. In saying this we were a very short drive from shops and restaurants so really it was a win win. We would highly recommend this property. Nothing - it was wonderful!
- Joanne (8/5): Comfortable short stay at - Room were spacious and comfortable Building a little in need of renovation. Quite impersonable. Breakfast served in a basked was ok.
- Peter (10/5): - Very nice and clean. I would stay here again
- Puongtip (8/5): -
- Rodger (10/5): - Lee was very, very nice. She brought us to our room and explained everything. Excellent room. Will come back again and again.
- Bennett (9/5): -
- Susan (10/5): Excellent inn - Room was very pleasant and roomy. The checkin was friendly. The restaurant was superb.
- judith (10/5): I can’t wait to return. - We love the breakfast and it’s delivery to our room.
- Michael (10/5): - Excellant room with a great view. Really enjoyed the breakfast basket concept. The onsite restaurant is definitely first class. Our dinner was amazing!
- Mary (10/5): - Resturant on the site was excellent with friendly staff. The choice of entrees was somewhat limited but tasty. The breakfast delivered to our room was so convenient and delicious. They recognized an error from our on-line reservation reservations and corrected it resulting a lower nightly charge. We greatly appreciated me.them doing this. The staff was friendly and extremely helpful in answering our questions or getting us what we needed. We hope to stay there again.
- margaret (10/5): Perfect night in Manchester - Lovely inn, beautifully maintained older building with spacious rooms and bathrooms. Bath products were first class. Our room had a fireplace which opened to both the room and the bath, we didn't use it in July!
Breakfast is a nice basket of selected goodies. We ate ours on the side porch.
- Duane (10/5): -
- James (10/5): We lii oh bed staying there and will book again - Breakfast and presentation was wonderful. Very unique basket which was great All good
- Danforth (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (10/5): - We had a lovely weekend at The Relucatant Panther. The room was perfect. The area was quiet. It was convenient to everywhere we wanted to go. The dinner was scrumptious, and we loved the little basket with breakfast - just enough! The staff at both the desk and the dining room was amazing! We can't wait to come back.
- Smokiechick (10/5): Quiet luxury - The room was spacious and comfortable. The toiletries were thoughtful and delightful. The breakfast basket, delivered to the door, was just decadent. Locking the door from the outside was difficult and I feared breaking the key, but older buildings settle. Let's call it "character".
- tricia (10/5): - The inn consists of a beautiful old main building with modern bungalow rooms in a garden setting. We stayed in one of the modern additions. The room was very spacious and well-appointed. The bathroom was of a good size and the complimentary toiletries were especially good. There was plenty of space to sit and relax. We went for the in-room breakfast option, which was superb. The inn is in town, on a quiet side street, with lots of dining and shopping options within walking distance.
- Rhett (8/5): A very pleasant stay in a great room in a great location. - Breakfast boxes fine. Decent selection. Timely delivery. TV is horrible. Small screen and SD reception. Better to have no TV. Really a detriment especially during period of national crises. Also I found mattress very uncomfortable but spouse found very comfortable… So ??
Air Conditioner noisy and takes some time to get acclimated to the noise.
- Lamia (6/5): - Although the inn is in a great location and the public spaces are nice, the bedrooms are really very tired. Everything needs updating. There were stains on the ceiling, the cotton blanket was threadbare and had a hole in it, everything needs a fresh coat of paint. The caulk around the bathroom tub was coming off. Not what you expect from a 4 star inn/hotel.
- kathydS6757YS (10/5): Wonderful Inn in Manchester, VT - The Reluctant Panther is an adorable boutique inn located in the heart of Manchester, VT; we stayed for two nights and loved our suite and the place itself. The bathroom was huge (as was the bed!), the outdoor seating area was serene and peaceful, and while the restaurant was fairly pricey it was on par with other estabilishments in the local area. You are given a few options for breakfast every day and what you order arrives in a picnic basket - I thought that was a great touch. You aren't going to get an omelet with a side of toast but you are given both fruit and a pastry along with either a bagel/cream cheese, yogurt with granola or a breakfast sandwich (those were the options when we stayed there). Another lovely gesture was the homemade cookies delivered to our door and left out in the lobby! There is plenty of parking, the staff were all pleasant and helpful, and the location couldn't have been better. If we return to Manchester we'll be back!
- Jonathan (10/5): Adorable and comfortable - Sweet quaint service-oriented little place. Loved our stay! And the dinner was incredible! Adorable and comfortable. Helpful with us and our bicycles, since we are biking cross country.
- LTR2 (2/5): Shabby. - We've been to the inn prior which was nice. Now, simply put, it's in need of a great deal of TLC and updating. And it's very overpriced for the quality of the room. Also, they did not explain that the "breakfast in the dining room" would be a basket of food" on a single table in a room with a sea of tables without a single person in sight. When we complained in the morning, the front desk person's comment was that they're sorry our stay did not meet our expectations - said in a condescending manner. We won't be back.
- Brian (10/5): Great getaway - Very well located and the staff is really friendly. Our room was spacious and comfortable. It was peaceful, with a nice outdoor area including a pond and seating. Breakfast was fantastic and packed in a picnic basket so we could easily eat by the pond. Good value. Also, not included, but dinner there was fantastic!
- Richard (9/5): Great overnight break on our New England road trip - Really friendly staff welcomed us and looked after us. Nothing
- Susan (10/5): Kudos to the Panther! - Everything about the Reluctant Panther was amazing..the bed was the most comfortable bed we have slept on our whole vacation The weather wasn't cooperating (98 degrees), so we could not enjoy the grounds as much as we wanted to.
- Eugene (9/5): Superb -
- Shaun (10/5): - We had a wonderful time, it was like staying with family, not just a hotel. The staff were lovely and helpful and the food was amazing. You will not be disappointed!
- jaculgin (10/5): Very nice inn with beautiful rooms. - Each room in the Inn is beautifully appointed with lovely linens and antique furniture. The gardens are lovely and the staff couldn’t be nicer or more accommodating. The restaurant serves fabulous meals, and the breakfast in the picnic basket was by far the best we’ve ever had delivered to a room. Would highly recommend this inn to anyone visiting Manchester, Vermont.
- Megan (10/5): Exceptional - Location, accommodation. Plus the people at the Inn and restaurant were very kind and made our anniversary very special.
- Joseph (10/5): - Beautiful. Came with an unexpected upgrade!
- Katja (8/5): Very good -
- Russell (10/5): To tall bed - The location to everything. The beds to high! Im 6 foot tall and it was difficult to get in and out of bed.
- Geraldine (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were very nice, the room was excellent, and the food was phenomenal. Zero, that we didn't like.
- Molebait (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): One of the best restaurants in New England - The restaurant was exceptional (for dinner) Breakfast was not good. Would have much preferred a buffet breakfast in the restaurant
- Mackenzie (10/5): - We stayed and ate at the Inn the weekend of Valentine’s Day and we had a wonderful experience. The room was beautiful, cozy and clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and the town is very cute. I would love to come back and stay again—we still talk about it!
- cynthia (10/5): - Always a lovely restful stay at The Reluctant Panther.
- Edward (10/5): A Perfect Getaway - A place where old world charm meets elegants.
I cannot say enough about how great our stay was.
The staff was so friendly and amazing.
We have never stayed anywhere that has rteated us as if we were the most important guests.
Mary, at the front desk was so welcoming and accommodating.
She made us feel as if no request is unreasonable.
Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Let me add, breakast was very nice and informal its presented in a picnic basket sent to your room or enjoy it in the dining room. Dinner at the restaurant was amazing, expertly prepared and presented. 5stars Our stay was just to brief.
- Catherine (10/5): Delightful - Everything exceeded our expectations. Morgan and the staff was welcoming and willing to help in any way. We had to leave early and they arranged a delicious to-go breakfast for us! We will definitely be back.
- Michelle (10/5): Wonderful weekend getaway with exceptional staff and service. - Excellent property and wonderful innkeeper. We ate dinner in the restaurant, service and meal were exceptional. A great experience and would return. N/A
- 721jims (10/5): Wonderful Inn - We spent four nights last week to celebrate my wife’s 60th birthday which was in January. It was our third time staying at the Inn. Our third different room. We stayed in The Lady’s Slipper Suite. My wife couldn’t have been happier. A beautiful room and great staff !!! Thank you for a great stay !!!!!
- Peter (10/5): 4 Stars Done right 👍🏼 - The Little details , The shower, The cleanliness, the Location . A really nice place done correctly. Will stay again and again
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional -
- Candace (9/5): Superb -
- Rileigh (10/5): - The hotel hospitality was beyond our expectations, we were greeted and taken up to our room like VIP guests. Our room exceeded our expectations with space, cleanliness, and atmosphere. We tried to book our stay for our next wedding in the area here and we were sad to see it was fully booked for that weekend. We will always come here first.
- Jeffrey (9/5): Superb -
- K6819ZBelisab (10/5): Lovely stay in Manchester - Our suite was lovely. It turns out the main building was rebuilt (in the old style) after a fire, so everything is nice and fairly new. The furnishings are beautiful and the timer for the fireplace is a nice touch. The breakfast was good too (they will deliver a picnic basket to your room or the dining room). The staff was also very friendly.
- Arnold (8/5): - The "Breakfast Basket" is a poor substitute for a real breakfast.
- Frank (10/5): - Our absolute favorite place to stay in Manchester. The Inn is very nice and the staff is excellent.
- Philbrook (10/5): Exceptional - Nothing
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steven (10/5): Very relaxing trip, outstanding boutique inn. - Super friendly staff, unique rooms, tons of amenities. Nice fireplace, comfy beds. Fresh baked cookies and brownies. A++++ restaurant and bar on the main floor. Outstanding in room breakfast. The only thing was you could not adjust the flame on the fireplace.
- Frank (10/5): - I'm very satisfied with my stay. The area was beautiful the staff were very friendly and the room was nice. There were some things that I saw could be improved, which I noted to the staff, but nothing that would prevent me from staying again or recommending the Inn to others. I'm totally satisfied.
- Meg/Bry (10/5): - The staff was extremely attentive! Breakfast delivered to our room and it was wonderful! The room and bathroom were very large and comfy!
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (10/5): - The Reluctant Panther sets the standard for hospitality and warmth. This is a cozy inn with impeccable staff, accommodations and cuisine. We enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning. - George
- dmytro (10/5): - Excellent place to stay! Breakfast was amazing
- Timothy (10/5): First timer and blow away! - I can’t say enough about the room, service and dinning. Blown away. Don’t even bother looking elsewhere in Man VT. We skied Stratton and the value is so much better. Loved the small bar and food is outstanding and not off the charts. We will be back for sure. PS. The tub with pillows was the best! She loved every minute of her quick stay. The breakfast basket in am was perfect.
- Julia (10/5): A wonderful place to relax. - We stayed at the Reluctant Panther for just one night -- a little mid winter getaway. The gas fireplace in our first room was having some mechanical issues so the staff upgraded us to a suite. Such a treat to play cards on the couch in front of the gas fireplace and take a jacuzzi tub before climbing into the huge comfy bed. Great breakfast in the restaurant. We could have chosen to have it delivered to our room. All in all, a wonderful winter respite!
- Kristin (10/5): Relaxing - Everyone was so friendly and the food for breakfast and dinner was outstanding! N/a
- Katherine (10/5): Just a wonderful getaway. - So friendly. Served cookies when we arrived. Room/suite was cozy and large. Great bathroom with soaking hot tub. Very comfortable bed. Could order breakfast brought to room. Delicious! We loved the restaurant and little bar. Nothing
- Mary (10/5): - We moved our stay at the Reluctant Panther. Check in was easy with Mary. She lead us to our suite and got ice for us. We loved the in room fireplace although it really heated up the room. The Jacuzzi tub was a bonus. The breakfast served to our room in the morning was just what we ordered and was delicious. We really felt pampered and it seemed as though we were guest in someone’s beautiful home. We will be back.
- Stephen (9/5): Superb -
- 177sharmanf (10/5): PERFECT AND LOVELY!! - This small hotel has absolutely everything you need or want. The room was EXCELLENT, the service was great. I had breakfast in my room and it was brought inside a picnic basket! Wonderful. I just loved the room, it was period type furniture, comfy and relaxing. I will go back. This IS the place to stay. I also had dinner there, at 5:30 pm, so I was the first one in the dining room. So the host and waitress turned on the fireplaces, my table candles and treated me like a queen. The food was great too. I'm a pretty picky eater and everything was perfect. Wonderful place!!!PLUS I got a ticket that got me in for free at Hildene - a bonus for sure!!!
- Cucinell (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dominick (10/5): Exceptional - Great people and food.
Upgraded us to a beautiful suite with a great soaking tub
- Melanie (10/5): - Front desk staff Richard was fantastic. Very helpful and kind
- robin (10/5): - Great location. Our room was so cozy and the fireplace was great! Easy check-in. Can’t wait for next time
- Kattyhk (9/5): A cozy, comfortable, weekend getaway. - Great location, very friendly staff, easy parking, and access to multiple mountains for skiing. The town center is a short drive or about a 20-30 minute walk (in the snow). Additionally, multiple restaurants and bars are just a few minutes' walk away. It was a perfect short, cozy stay. The suite had plenty of room. It was definitely a little dated, but that's the feel we were looking for—comfortable and cozy! We loved having a fireplace in the room that was a huge bonus! The breakfast basket was a cute idea- I just wish they had a hot vegan option! WiFi wasn't great but that wasn't an issue since we were there to relax and disconnect.
- Regina (9/5): It was picturesque village to visit and the Reluctant Panther exceeded our expectations! - Loved everything about it!
- Karla (10/5): Exceptional -
