Guest Reviews
- Natasha (6/5): - Grounds are breathtaking. Staff were warm and helpful. Rooms were beautiful and comfortable! Amazing !
- Rajeshwari (8/5): - Beautiful property, remote detour needed to reach it. Restaurant has quality food but service is super slow! I ordered a thali and waited forever. There was some loud noise due to construction. There are peacocks, beautiful sculptures of gods and goddesses.
- Subrahmanyam (10/5): - This is a great place to stay. Aesthetically pleasing and serene ambience all around.
- Vilwanathan (10/5): - Very enjoyable experience with clean and unique facility. The staff were very service oriented.
Tres bon massage.
Petit dejeuner copieux.
Personnel au petit soun et tres compétent.
- Srivijaya (10/5): - Excellent property which takes you back in time and the simplicity of life. Excellent staff - very cordial and great breakfast makes for a total package. For folks who might need to be in touch with reality, one area that might need some improvements is the electrical part of the rooms with a little more modern sockets etc as nobody can stay far from technology…
- Saravanaselvan (10/5): - Absolutely Great Experience
- SANDRA (8/5): - Restes 2 nuits
- Krishna (10/5): - It was wonderful experience staying at Mantra Koodam. We will back for a longer stay next year.
- radha (10/5): - Already did
- radha (10/5): - It is a very unique property with exceptionally nice staff and food was great and whole set up was great . But it is inconvenient to get there from the airport in trichy which is not a direct issue of the hotel . It is the area
- Ravindra (6/5): - Like: landscape, setting and the ambiance
Areas of improvement: no proper hot water in the shower, food and water does not drain properly in the shower
- Vijay R (10/5): - Loved everything about this property! The cottage was amazing! The food was great! The staff was super courteous! And the location was amazing!
- Pamela (10/5): Elegant-rustic and Non-pretentious - Elegant-rustic and Non-pretentious resort, far from the hubbub of the village. Delightful and pleasant.
- Vaidyanath (10/5): - Amazing place, in the middle of a forest, lot of greenery. Food was excellent, breakfast and dinner buffet, live dosa station. Villa was very clean, great facilities, very friendly staff. Loved the swimming pool!
- Alka (10/5): - A beautiful, green, peaceful setting. Lodges and furnishings are so tastefully done, food is excellent- everything reminds you of a world gone by. Nestled far away from the crowds a perfect place to relax with family and friends. Highly recommended.
- RAJASEKAR (10/5): - Excellent
- P S (10/5): Green Stay - Amazing Stay in the middle of Tamil Nadu amongst greenery.....
- Roopa (10/5): Brilliant experience - Amazing place and we loved the experience although it was a short stay. Amazing staff and we loved every bit of the experience. Waking up to peacocks was the highlight of it all; such tranquility and we felt United with nature during our stay….. thank you !
- parthasarathy (8/5): - Good place to stay, good service and people, limited food options though
- Sudarshna (10/5): - My parents stayed in this property for two days and greatly enjoyed the experience. They loved the tranquility, the exceptional service and the traditional surroundings. My mother hails from Kumbakonam and she mentioned that the experience transported her back to her childhood days! Definitely they would be staying here again.
- Sourav (10/5): Oasis in Kumbakonam - Loved this property and it was such an oasis of comfort and luxury.
The resort did look like it needed some gardening, but the rooms were fabulous and staff very helpful.
Loved the food as well.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful resort! My mother and sister had a great time overall!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the architecture. When I walked into the cabin, the first thought was "I want a small farmhouse just like this one". So I grabbed my phone and took as many pictures as I can. The staffs (Jebi) are very friendly and a perfect place to relax. The greenery, the peacocks, their delicious breakfast are all exceptional. Left with good memories.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent experience and a beautiful resort. Very memorable stay with family and would night recommend this unique experience. Everything was very different and unique. The chai hut and the food was yummy too. People were so very nice and helped us in every way
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is absolutely beautiful in all ways and a sense of peace is throughout the space. The facilities ae lovely and the rooms large and the outside waterfall shower is "well another adventure" It was a joy to arrive here with such smiling faces and a sense of integrity in the food as well as the essence of taking care of our environment. We could have stayed a long time. Thanks for caring.
- P S (8/5): Great location for temple tours - Great location . Very well maintained property.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not bad, but not great - Not bad
- NAT (10/5): STAY AT MANTRA KOOTAM - Excellent service, good food, comfortable stay. Great staff! Wish could have stayed a little longer!
- Aarthi (10/5): - A relaxed and comfortable stay amidst the villages in a sophisticated and eco friendly environment
- Ashok (10/5): - Architecturally has captured old world south indian village house style with interior modern amenities. Property is well maintained but Spa is still under renovation. Not much to do within the Property except for swimming pool. Might get terribly boring after one night stay. Restaurant food was good but the tea stall fare was less than ordinary. Highly recommended for a one day - night stay if you’re visiting surrounding area temples which are very many.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very poor air conditioning. Quality of food is not commensurate with prices Too expensive
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful rural property - Beautiful architecture and rooms set in expansive grounds. Bathroom had an outdoor shower. Fabulous afternoon tea spot and an exquisite swimming pool. Lovely place to spend days relaxing.
- V (8/5): Inconvenient but nice hotel that serves great food - Access is poor. We could not drive to the hotel because the connecting bridge was too narrow. We had to park a mile away. This is terrible. Otherwise we loved the experience.
- rathie (10/5): - We stayed three days last week.we really enjoyed the village atmosphere. The staffs are very helpful and friendly specially Nagarajan at the reception and Rajarajan and Boobalan at the restaurant.thankyou
- vithyalakshmi (4/5): Reviews are misleading - First of all the phone number listed for the hotel at hotels.com is not functional. I tried calling the hotel several times since the property is not easy to find. It's hidden in a wooden area with no proper signs and there isn't a road you can take. The drive to the property is awful. My 12 year old thought we are going to get mugged and it was too scary for me too. I had to make an international call to hotel.com to find out about the location and agent couldn't reach anyone at the property as well. With so much difficulty we found the place. We were hoping that things will get better. I'm more disappointed that the reviews at hotels.com are so misleading. I totally depend on the reviews while booking a hotel but this one is a disaster. No welcome drinks as they mentioned in the website. The website still has breakfast included with the pricing I paid for. However, the reservation didn't reflect breakfast for 2. Again when I called hotel.com they couldn't reach the property and they ended up refunding me for the breakfast.I really tried hard to leave this issues behind and enjoy my stay. It's so hard to relax when you have mosquito's in the property and bugs in the toilet which one would expect with the open roof. This freaked me out even more. The food was really good. Staff members were very polite. The property is so secluded and it's so quite and peaceful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Suggestions - I suggest to put floor mats in the room specially in front of toilet and bed and also to install TV. And open toilet is concerned for safety-issue. It can be covered with fiber glass. Thanks
- Elizabeth (8/5): A haven! - This place is a complete haven. We stayed two nights in the town of Kumbakonam and while great, is just so noisy. So we moved here. 6km out of town and from the moment you enter the site there is calm.
Check in very helpful and individual villas large and comfortable with nice terraces. The pool is beautiful.
We found the food to be of average quality especially given the price. Indian breakfast is far superior to continental
If you wish to escape the noise of town then this is a lovely retreat. Just bear in mind that it is isolated and in a very local area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Resort out of the way - For people looking for an authentic indian experience blended with western amenities, this resort is a great option. From a temple bell that gets rung upon arrival to the ceremonial breaking of a coconut when you leave, the staff of Mantra Veppathur got it right. The only feature of our cottage that seemed weird to me was the open air shower as a part of the bathroom. There is a covered shower though, thank goodness. The one thing that blew me away was the quiet atmosphere that was a welcome change after 2 weeks in India where quiet is almost impossible to find.
- NATARAJ LAKSHMANAN (10/5): Where Genuine Hospitality is a Mantra! - We had a wonderful and very memorable stay at Mantra Veppathur. The staff are genuinely warm and hospitable and take good care of all your requirements. The hotel vehicle (we used an Innova) is also impeccably maintained and the drivers are professional. The food at this resort is Sattvik and very very sumptuous! A treat for the taste buds! The overall ambience of the resort is amazing and each area - be it the reception or the little pond with preening swans and an Annapoorani temple in the middle, the swimming pool, the restaurant, the rural tea shop and the Illams (rooms), is very thoughtfully done! The rooms are marvellously spacious with all comforts and a traditional flavour to boot! Missed a tea kettle and tea bags/coffee though. The bathrooms are spacious and well laid out, but could do with a little paint touch up in some areas that have started showing their age; especially the concrete jaliwork. The open air shower area could also be cleaner - esp the potted plant had withered and that was a bit of an eyesore. Except for these couple of points, everything about Mantra Veppathur is lovely and we definitely feel it is great value for money. I would like to mention a few of the staff who made our stay all the more memorable - Mr Nagarajan (reception) and Mr Pandian & Mr Karthik (drivers). The restaurant staff & the housekeeping staff (don't remember their names) also deserve special mention!
- Rita (10/5): Beautiful Eco Hotel in a wonderful country setting - We only stayed here as we couldn't get into The Ideal River View Resort for two nights. Had we known it was such a beautiful place to stay we would have rather stayed here, and probably for longer. We loved the vegetarian food, classical Indian music performance, outdoor (as well as indoor) showers in the room and tasteful art work and fittings. It is totally peaceful there with a beautiful pool to cool off in. Unfortunately we didn't have time to experience the massage and beauty treatments. We look forward to returning another year.
