- Carla (5/5): - Excelente localização Método de check-in.

- Nathan (1/5): DO NOT RECOMMEND! TERRIBLE - I REGRET BOOKING IT! - The double room was clean enough. Where to start! We didn't stay here at all. We were in the place for maximum 2hrs and then we booked other accommodation. We are in the process of trying to get a refund from booking.com for a deceptive listing. At writing of this review no where does the property state that it is an unstaffed self check in property. They make you use their app and the staff that respond to you are not local and cannot help in an emergency. They contact someone else to come fix things. The check in procedure is hard to follow and made worse because there is no staff on site. If you don't have internet you can't get in. We somehow managed to get in the first time and drop our stuff. But when we came back in the afternoon. The app they use was down so we were locked out of the building. We would've been locked out for 1 hour but we snuck in behind another build tenant. Which is also a safety issue because of how easy it was to follow someone else in. They said it was the first time the door unlocking app has failed but other reviews make it seem like it happens often. The bathrooms are dirty and everything is on a sensor light. So it always turns off when you are in the toilet and I assume it would happen in the shower as well. The kitchen is dirty and there is no sink to wash up. So people leave their dirty plates on the bench. The communication is poor and disjointed. Given all the new 1 star reviews. I am guessing there was a change in administration after we booked. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! BOOK SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!
- Denis (1/5): - La posizione Come prima volta in Spagna grazie a Diagonal House una esperienza bruttissima nel Hostel.
Tutto dalle pulizie l'assenza dello staff organizzata molto male. Io non lo consiglierei a nessuno.
- Diogo (1/5): Didn’t stay, booked another place right away. Didn’t cancel since I’d be charged ~250€ for doing so. Do not recommend, n - Staff was responsive in booking’s messages Outside the room itself, everything was wrong in some sort of way: Bathrooms weren’t clean, shower room wasn’t clean and didn’t have privacy, entering the building and hostel felt more like a gimmick than tech for ease of use. Warm water tank wouldn’t be enough for the amount of people staying there. We didn’t stay and rented another place as quick as possible, since we arrived late at night. Overall the cleanliness and the offered facilities were/are a huge miss. Took pictures of room before leaving so we do get our 100€ hold back.

- Lopez Franco (8/5): Placentera - Lo multincuktural El tamaño
- Catherine Mary (2/5): -
- Désirée (4/5): If you’re young and staying only for a few days, it’s ok.but otherwise it will just negatively impact your stay - There are metro stations and supermarkets nearby. The toilets were dirty and really smalls. The shower rooms even dirtier. I booked 2 beds for a friend and I and they didn’t place us in the same room. We had to wait to get access to our rooms (which is normal so I’m not complaining about that) and when we finally got in, the beds weren’t even made. The cleaning lady made us wait 30-40 minutes outside of our rooms. What’s the point of putting a late check in if nothing is ready on time?? We also noticed that during our stay, the cleaning lady did it too with other guests. She would also be on her phone really loud although we were resting.
- Alena (1/5): Not recommended - Location is near the metro There are no staff inside the hotel. I haven’t seen anyone for 2 days. They sent a guide on how to access the property, but the electronic button doesn’t work. To enter, I had to wait on the street until one of the guests opened the door for me. Not only me, all the guests had difficulties with entrance; no one could enter using the “electronic button” on their web page. And they have a lot of demands from you as a guest: check-out at 10, penalty for late check-out, and they demand a 100€ deposit. For what case? If I steal the towel?
- Midoul (1/5): -
- Eiker (3/5): -
- shivharik2025 (2/5): Not gonna book again. - I went there for a trip, upon reaching the hostel I was informed my booking had been cancelled with no prior information about the same.
- U6724TBjuliag (2/5): Worst attitude to client - This is the worst place ever if to start with basic communication with the client. From the beginning they texted constantly about my time arrival (which I couldn’t say exactly), then they suggested to switch the dates (cause I stayed before another place and could prolong), then they didn’t approve the dates of change (though there was availability of rooms), then they put status no show and blocked me everywhere, what’s app and booking. So I was charged money for misunderstanding and not desire to negotiate. Not the place I would recommend. The second night I booked, again we had misunderstanding so I was charged twice (I didn’t live this place).
I recommend always pay though booking, not option pay at property,
cause never it’s possible to prove anything communicating with the kind of hostels who are non negotiable and non client oriented, non trustworthy (On phone they tell one thing, act opposite).
- marcobW4159FM (2/5): DON'T GO HERE! - Worst hostel experience of my life.
We arrived late due to our travel delayes, so they didn't let us check in; it was Sunday evening and everything was closed we were begging them to let us charge our phones so we could go somewhere else but instead of helping us they screamed at us in Spanish, a language that we can't understand, they attacked us verbally and physically to the point we had to call the police.
They also blocked our number and on booking, and they charged us for the two nights we were supposed to stay even though they didn't let us in
THIS IS NOT A PLACE FOR TRAVELERS, DON'T GO THERE
- Travelwithmai17 (2/5): AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS - AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!
My fiancé and I, arrived late due to our delayed travel into the city. We tried to get in as soon as possible but unfortunately our phones were on a mere 1-2% each so were unable to keep the Diagonal House alerted every step of the way. We arrived at your hostel late around 10:45pm (to which we understand now is a late check in time). We are frequent travelers and have stayed in hostels all over the world to which, I’ve never experienced an issue so humiliating and beyond unbelievable like this. When we arrived, we knocked on the door of the hostel to which we were greeted by a young-20-30 something woman who claimed she worked there. She said she was unable to unlock the doors and let us into the rooms because her “boss” was home with a pregnant wife and could not be bothered. We understood immediately that they did not want to let us into the rooms that we paid for, but I asked her if it was possible that we charge our phones because we had just gotten into the city and we’re on our last remaining percentage and didn’t want to be stuck homeless in the middle of the night sleeping on the streets. She insisted that we would not be able to enter or charge our phones. My fiancé and I begged her to tell us where we can go to find a place to stay (mind you this was Sunday evening when most places were closed) and she said she would ultimately tell us. My fiancé and I do not speak Spanish well and I assume she did not speak English well because after I asked her one more time if she can please let us charge our phones then she slammed the small window stating we were giving her an attitude.
My fiancé and I were completely confused and thrown off because that’s when an older man approached the window screamed at us to leave then they slammed the door. My fiancé knocked at the door because we were so confused what was happening and genuinely needed help and that’s when the older man (who only spoke Spanish) opened the door and lunged at my fiancé as if he was going to hit him in the face. They both were screaming at us in Spanish and we - who didn’t understand were begging them to let us charge our phones so we can find another place to stay, could leave. That’s when the old man slammed my fiancé’s foot in the door, and his shoe was stuck completely so he couldn’t move. We then banged on the door screaming for them to open the door because he was now literally caught in the door and all we wanted to do was leave. But we couldn’t. They refused to open the door after 20minutes until another guest arrived and entered the hostel who then released his foot.
Finally, the police arrived and though while they tried to sympathize with us, they said because the old man didn’t actually hit my fiancé in the face there was nothing they could actually do to him. They suggested us to go to the local police office to file a proper report. We ultimately left the property because we obviously didn’t feel comfortable staying or fighting to stay at a place in which an old man who worked there just tried to assault another guest desperate to charge their phones.
This was the absolute worst experience I’ve ever had in my life and I can’t believe this business lacks the empathy to deal with paying guests.
The worst part about it was, we were booked and paid for 2 nights. If we arrived too late to check in for one night, we should’ve been able to check in for the following day. I wrote up a report to discuss the matter with the company direct and instead of attempting to alleviate the situation, they immediately blocked my number. I contact Booking.com to refute the charge because they refused to let us in and they sided with us but ultimately said it was up to the business to release the refund and they don’t want to.
DO NOT STAY HERE. There are much better options in this city!!! They are scams artists and wildly AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!!

DO NOT STAY HERE. There are much better options in this city!!! They are scams artists and wildly unprofessional. It’s not worth the hassle.. It’s not worth the hassle.
- ulysse2020 (10/5): Drop by there awhile - This is the best place. It is like a palace converted to modern living, you can mix in the kitchen and crash in the lounge or play with the dog, or go out on the balcony for air. The entry is similar to a temple, there is sometimes a doorman, an elevator from the past with mechanical relays, and outside an ATM machine. Down the avenue there are uptown stores and the other way there are hip locales. In both directions you'll find Gaudi.
Gaudi is everywhere (some in aemulation of Gaudi however), his works aren't all, there are castels too, also parks. And a trolley going to the ocean not very far (a couple miles however on the avenue and goes to all the beaches).
- NomadStrategies (2/5): BED BUGS!!! - This place in infested with bed bugs.
I spent two nights, on two different beds, and photographed/killed bed bugs on both beds. The itching began immediately and I didn't sleep either night.
After I notified the manager of the issue, he blocked my phone number. He also called me a liar on Hostelworld, claiming there were mosquitoes in the room. That is untrue.
Just look at the attached photos of my text conversation with the manager and read the other reviews. The photo of my back was taken in the hostel bathroom. Do you think I'm lying?
Additionally, I can assure you they have not remedied the issue, because they deny it exists.
These bites ruined my summer vacation - 4 weeks in Europe with welts all over my body...
Do not stay here. There are other, nicer places in this city. You don't need the trouble.
- 928michelen (4/5): It s disgusting - First point on my arrival and no one describes me the house where to find the bathroom, kitchen, living room I have to go to discover to find anything. Horrible and dirty beds, the arm in my photo is the proof. Horrible experience not to be recommended to everyone, bathrooms with timer showers without hot water and with the smell of sewers in all the showers. 2 stars only for the location
- DanisDay (6/5): Great location but not peace - The location of the hostel is great and most of the staff very friendly. The facilities are very basic but that is totally fine for the price. What put me off however is that there was absolutely no quiet at night. There are signs saying that people have to be quiet after 10pm but the person in charge did not say a word when a group of people in my room was absolutely inappropriately noisy the whole night even though I had asked them to be quiet.
- omidc2017 (2/5): BED BUGS!!!!! Disappointing experience! - BED BUGS!!!!!!!! YES. There are bed bugs in this hostel and they don't seem to care. After my first night there, the guy who was sleeping above me, in the morning had bites all over his body. He said he couldn't sleep so changed his bed during the night, and surprisingly he found bed bugs on the other bed as well!! I saw blood spots on the sheet myself, which are from bed bugs. When we told them about it, they said they're sorry and the manager is informed. They're going to disinfect the place. So I got another bed as well. Everything is good, right? No!!! The next night they give the infected beds to other people! And also the other night! They just lied to us and kept renting their dirty beds to other people! That's not acceptable. The whole place needs to be shut down and get disinfected. In the end I am bitten as well.
Besides that, the kitchen smells really weird, the bathroom mats are also quite dirty, and the water gets cold after some people taking shower, great!
Also it was really hot at night since there's only one AC for two rooms that are connected together. I am happy that I left there, but I'm afraid there are bed bugs among my clothes and in my bag! Bad experience.
- kalayatrafestival (8/5): Quite modern - Beautiful modern hostel with big double rooms. I liked the furniture and the interior at all. Realy fance-modern. With the fan i slept like a baby. Also the bathroom is big enaugh for two. Quite good choice on the Diagonal. Family freindly, bring your kids!
- mikev839 (10/5): location friendly staff - if you are looking for a very cheap place near all the important sites in barcelona this is it.. the guy (who's dog's name was winston i forgot his name) who welcomed us was very knowledgeable, spoke good english and was really helpful... the hostel didnt have an elevator but who cares!!!... subway was near, sagrada was near, la rambla was near... we got the room fronting the street but sleep was sound and perfect... thank you diagonal house we will be back again....
- Annadeec (2/5): Diagonal house scam! - Be careful if you are à tourist don’t go at this place they charge you more in’your Credit card some weeks after and if you call them to ask why they pretext that you check out late but it’s wrong .
It’s a shame !!
- krisadas2019 (6/5): Hostel itself is ok but not all the guests - Location is good, it’s near metro and walking distance to central street but have to check address number carefully as sign on the door is very small, no lift so heavy bag should be aware. Staff quite nice and helpful but no one there in the night so all the rules stop after 22.00, some guest brought friends and dog, drinking alcohol and party, etc.
- Iho9n (4/5): The hostel did not return the money !!! Why ??? - For booking a hotel, we removed the first half of the amount from the card, since there was no money on the card to settle the second half, we paid the full amount in cash. The hostel said that the first half will be returned to us. The hostel did not return the money !!! Why ???
- fimc101 (4/5): Would be great if staff weren't jerks - My room was ok - needed a vacuum/dust/general clean; window didn't seal and with low temps there were not enough blankets for that; shutters also didn't close and in the wind banged about. Facilites - kitchen, showers & bathrooms were clean.
I arrived before the 10pm cut off but couldn't find how to get in. I called reception and no one answered, I found the buzzer behind a pylon, pressed it and got upstairs. Although the guy acknowledged I had called and he couldn't answer, because i got to the counter at 10:06pm he charged me a "partial" late fee. Total late fee was €10 for arrivals after 10pm. He charged me €6. I came out later and I saw him just hanging with another guy playing guitar - not like he was desperate to go home. My flight was delayed. It's not like I was late on purpose. He didn't even bother to point anything out so another visitor showed me where the kitchen and showers were. The wifi didn't work in my room and all he could say was it worked for him at the counter so there were no problems. I could get it to work at the counter but the signal dropped out back at my room. It worked the following day so there was clearly something that needed to be reset. He just couldn't have been any less willing to help or be reasonable. The location was excellent but there are enough options not to go back there. That guy really put a spoiler on the trip.
- Katerinakay (8/5): Great value for money - Awesome location with great access to everything - metro, shopping, food, Sagrada Familia etc. The rooms were nice, I would stay in the mixed dorm rather than the female only dorm next time for the view and lighter room. The staff were always helpful and it felt really safe inside.
- 19charliem (8/5): Good location and good facilities - The location and facilities in the hostel are great. Staff were friendly and it was definitely good value for money. There were containers by each bed which meant there was a safe space for valuables and rooms were bright and clean. My only issue was that the rooms were accessible by keys, and didn't lock automatically. This meant if one of the people in the dorm didn't lock the door, anyone would be able to get in. Otherwise would 100% recommend. The staff also helped a lot with advising on directions from the airport which was really helpful.
- AnushaS233 (6/5): Not so great experience - I booked this hostel about 4 days before my stay and it was worth the price for that, especially for its location. But I would not recommend this place to solo travellers, especially those travelling alone for the first time and/or carrying heavy luggage. The hostel is on the first floor of the building, hard to spot and with no lift access. The staff wasn't welcoming or helpful and charged me extra for upgrading me to a dormitory I did not want. I would not choose to come back here.
- tumaraz (4/5): Ms - Good location but a super noisy room, so we had to have all windows closed to be able to sleep, so there was no air at all. At the reception they charged more then it said it costs. Also it said you can leave (1eu) your luggage on check-out day till 6pm, But on that day they said there will be noone in the hostel (?!?) between 1pm and 8pm so I had to completely reorganise my last day in Barcelona.
- stefaniesim (8/5): Friendly staff! - Had to have a really late check in due to a late flight, but the staff were so understanding and kind about the situation and were happy to help us out. They emailed us in advance to arrange everything to make sure it all went smoothly.
Thank you so much guys!
