Guest Reviews
- Evelyn (8/5): - Clean room, easy check in
- Juan (10/5): - Friendly stuff
- George (10/5): - Easy to get to many fast food places, rooms set every day and they leave little candies after they clean.
- frank (2/5): - Worst hotel experience of my life. Filthy & disgusting hotel
- Dave (4/5): - You all need to get a grip on the moldy atmosphere in your entire complex, rooms, main halls. Don't like coming out of your facility the next day, coughing up luggies the size of golf balls. Get it right, if the room is going to be occupied the particular day, turn on the A/C. This BS of letting a room or your facility get HUMID and MOLDY is unacceptable.
You won't see us there again EVER
- Hunter (2/5): - The rooms were not clean. Somebody had taken a crap in the room and left it before we even got in there. There were roaches in our room. It stunk most of the staff was rude. We asked to switch rooms because of the roaches and the lady at the front desk couldn’t have been any Router, but on a positive note the lady serving the breakfast in the morning was very nice.
- Wendy (4/5): - Security locks on out entrances not working, so anyone had access. Out room had not even been vacuumed, floor filthy dirty. Breakfast very limited. Room had strange odor. Wouldn't stay again.
- Sheryl (2/5): - This property - though listed as 'budget', ought to orovide basic services in the hospitality industry. Namely: cleanliness, front desk assistance (its not self-check in).
I waited 10 minutes for someone ro attend the front desk after having to use my phone & call a random # that was on a scrap piece of paper at the front desk. It took a regular amount of time to check in (appreciate that). Room was DIRTY. Floor NOT vacuumed, sink had water & hairs on the tray with soaps, cushions of sofa had crumbs & stains. After driving 14 hrs, wanted to use the bathroom & go to sleep. No toilet paper. Call the front desk from room - nothing. Call using the # from before - the lady huffs and says someone will bring me some. I waited 5 minutes in my room - nobody. A guy walks into the lobby, i ask him - he says he'll be with me in a minute but proceeds to deal with a guests dispute of some issue and i stand there for another 8 minutes. He hands me the toilet paper saying he was going to get to it.
There were random guys outside the room fixing a vehicle - banging tools etc. I called asking, via voicemail, that they move the guys or move me - never heard back. There were guys walking up & down the hallway with phones on speaker, in tank tops & underwear. Would NEVER recommend.
- Juan (10/5): - Kind stuff
- Juan (10/5): - Kind personnel
- roland (6/5): - The lighting was not good enough for doing my wife’s hair. Parking was convenient. Breakfast was just so so.
- Lary (10/5): - Reasonably priced, quiet for a good night's rest
- Rene T (10/5): - Great value for your money!
- Stephanie (6/5): - Could have been a little cleaner. Room smelled musty. Pillow hard as a rock.
- Linette (4/5): Terrible stay at this hotel - There was mold on the wall, door & bath tub
The carpet had not been vacuumed
There is no receptical outside for smokers to throw the butts into, the front desk told me to throw them on the ground. While I was outside smoking she came out and pretended to be looking at the flowers while watching me closely then went inside and watched me through the door.
VERY uncomfortable!!
- Linda (8/5): good - Inexpensive, clean hotel, good breakfast, and a nice bed.
- Rodney (8/5): - Friendly staff, easy check in
- Jorge Luis (8/5): - Nice place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The floor in the room had not been vacuumed for at least one day, maybe more, and there was a broken bar of soap under the sink. I showed all this to the front desk person who basically shrugged their shoulders and did nothing. They did help with a couple other things. The bed and bathroom were fine. The breakfast was minimal.
- Shawn (6/5): One star if you're lucky - The bedspread was gross and disgusting. The place needs a major upgrade, the decor looks extremely dated. Whether or not the property owners are willing to invest the $ and time to do that I seriously question. Also there's no more continental breakfast, which sucked because I was there a month ago and they offered it. Apparently they're cutting costs/looking to increase their profit margins. The adage "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here! You don't pay much and by the same token, you don't get much. Keep your expectations at zero and you'll be ok, otherwise do yourself a favor and stay at the microtel or Best Western down the street.
- Chris (10/5): - Nice place to rest your head
- Matthew (10/5): 5 stars - Great rates and price. Clean and comfortable
- Howard (10/5): - This was a overnight stay while traveling to Minnesota. Not Fancy but was affordable and worked for us for a Place to spend the night
- Bob (4/5): - No tv asked to change room they said no. Called about the tv and waited over 30 min for someone to come had to go down to the office to get someone still couldn’t fix it. They were rude and stubborn. Get what you pay for.
- Mark (8/5): - Good location. Decent price.
- Mark (8/5): - Bed was a little “lumpy”. The recliner needs to be replaced.
- Nancy (8/5): - Room was great. Bathroom had bar of soap from previous occupant left in the shower. Also, washcloth, while laundered, still had makeup stains on it.
- Theodore (6/5): - DOOR WAS HARD TO OPEN AND PROPERTY DID NOT FEEL SAFE.
- Jennifer (6/5): - Mold in bathroom, floor was damp from what I assume was recent carpet cleaning, but who knows.
- Maira (4/5): - The beds were comfortable. The staff is never up front. You need to use the phone to call them over. My friend wanted to rent her room for one more day and was told that there were already booked. She went online and came to find out that there were rooms available. She booked it and went to the office to show the lady who did not seem pleased.
- Daryl (2/5): - Dead roach on our lamp table. Smelled real bad.
- Gayle (6/5): - The price was appropriate for the condition with rooms and hotel needing updating. The couch in the room was VERY soiled and should be discarded.
- Gene (4/5): - Check-in, went fine when we entered the room. It was so dark and we could see why, when we turned the lights on, it was filthy.
The vacuum has not been run in this room. Probably, in a couple of weeks taking the pillows off the bed, there was dirt under all of the pillows on the bed. Shower had mold in it, and we had to walk in our shoes in the room. Because our feet got, it's dirty from walking on the carpet. There's mold in the top tile of the sink area that has not been taken out. And cleaned blessed, it looks like forever. Breakfast ended at 9, and it was poor at best.
- MICHAEL (4/5): - got smoking room...i dont smoke.front desk a bit rude..this morning found little critters in room. 2nd floor no excuse 4 bugs
- Chuck (8/5): - the place is inexpensive and fine. There is some breakfast but not much.
- Dan (8/5): - Room was clean. Quiet nights.
Breakfast very limited.
Exhaust fan in bathroom very loud.
- Sharon (4/5): - The bathroom had mold on ceiling. Ice machine broke . Torn up blankets on bed. Could not find a garbage can in common areas. Smelled musty. Nasty breakfast. Will not go back.
- Franklin (10/5): - Very pleased
- Joani (2/5): Very disappointing - My sheet had a brown stain about 18" long. Looked disturbingly like poop. When l asked to have the sheet changed they handed me a folded sheet and said here's your sheet. With disbelief l asked her to change it and she told me she didn't know how. What??? The tv had a wide black stripe running thru it that they could not rectify. I asked them to discount my room and they told me they could not as l had booked thru a 3rd party. They did not even apologize. Beds were also very uncomfortable. I rarely write bad critiques, but when they told me to change my own sheets they pushed me over the edge.
- Heidi (4/5): - Tv didn't work and the sheets had stains and had to request new sheets.
- Judith (2/5): Don’t waste your money - Dirty, staff was a couple of high school boys that had no idea what they were doing. No information provided
- Heather (2/5): Smells like cigarettes - The entire place smells like an ashtray. Couldn't even stay there had to find a different hotel.
- James (8/5): working travel - pillows could have been a bit softer but otherwise very comfortable, will be returning to area again , will definably check on availability,
- Dung (10/5): - Good
- Deiryana (2/5): - There’s mold in the bathroom and probably through the room because it feels damp all over. There’s lots of mold and it’s concerning. I didn’t let my kids shower because I’m worried they would get sick from it. I will not stay here again.
- Travis (2/5): Don’t stay here - The rooms were dirty on arrival and the beds had stains on the sheets and pillow cases
- Jurdan and Cathy (8/5): - In our party we had 4 rooms 8 days apart. There were odor and cleanlineshuses in 3 rooms.
- Lary (8/5): - Breakfast was listed 6 till 9. Shortly after 8, food was picked up and no waffle mix available.
- Susan (10/5): My stay. - It was clean. No frills and a good price. Not the newest place but again, it was clean and comfortable.
- Jurdan and Cathy (8/5): - Simple, clean, assessable.
- jade (6/5): - when i went to the bathroom there was like pee or liquid on the toilet seat, the floor was sticky, there was chip crumbs on the bed and under the couch there was food under it!!! and the counters were very dusty and dirty/sticky
- Carl (10/5): - Quiet place
- Tony (8/5): - It was good
- Lyle (10/5): - Super clean and quiet. Friendly staff!
- Tony (10/5): - It was good
- Vera (8/5): - All good, affordable, great location, comfortable beds, The only downside is that it was probably not no-smoking before and has not been renovated since - so for a non-smoker - the smell is there.
- gordon (2/5): Not satisfied - we asked for a non smoking room, once we arrived in the room. It smelled of smoke and had a real bad musty smell. The moisture and musty smell was irritating my wifes lungs and causing deep coughing. After 2 hours of trying to adapt, we couldn’t take the air environment of decided to check out and leave. Please refund our money!!!
- Sarah (6/5): - For the price, the hotel was okay. The hallways smelled bad and in definite need for updates. There were stains on my comforter as well. The price reflected the condition.
- mlt_scorp (4/5): Very rustic… - Hotel definitely needs a little TLC. I sadly did not bring air freshener with me. The room size was fine.
Concerned the pillows were used. Towels did not look good either, fortunately I had a beach towel with me.
Keep in mind rustic and extremely rough around the edges.
- Tony (8/5): - Everything thing fine and quiet
- Courtney (10/5): - The staff was very friendly and made the check in and out very quick and simple. The price was extremely reasonable as well.
- Dennis (2/5): - I prepaid on Expedia, and they did not let me stay unless I paid more money. I had to drive 4 1/2 hours home and lost my vacation and the $ for two nights.
- Theodore (6/5): - Staff was very friendly and the room was reasonably priced. Was very clean, but the bedspread had holes in it. When I flushed the toilet, I noticed a small leak. I reported this to the front desk. I wasn’t offered another room, but I’ll take my share of the blame for not asking for one. She did apologize however, and I was pretty understanding as these things do happen. Hopefully the issues get resolved.
- Bryan (6/5): - Checked out the breakfast one day. Only coffee, and cereal available. Poor continental breakfast. Smoke detector missing. Light plug was right behind top mattress, that should be a fire hazard. I was keeping my aluminum cans, and they took them the one day I asked them to clean the room, and they did even clean the bathroom.
- Mark (8/5): - Good value
- Mark (2/5): - Room was dirty, tin foil over smoke detector, no sprinklers, cigarette burns on comforters, sheets appeared not clean, dirty under mattress, heating/cooling unit along with other item were unplugged, lamps missing bulbs, bathtub had hair in it and there was a foul odor in the room. Had to leave hotel due to how filthy it appeared. Told by staff it has been very busy, which is not an excuse.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - There was dog hair and what looked like human hair all over the sheets, pillows and pillow cases. The room was run down, things were broken and it smelt like wet dog. When asked for new linens/pillows the staff was kind enough to provide a hair free pillow and pillow case.
- Jamie (2/5): - Bathroom was dirty. Hair all over tub toilet and floor. There was a post-it note with the wifi password on the floor when we arrived from the last person making me think they didn’t vacuum… went for breakfast at 8 (supposed to end at 9) and had everything put away and taken apart. Couldn’t even get a glass of juice because they were already cleaning the machine. Went to talk to the front desk and no one was there. There was a note that said they’d be back in 10-15 min with a number to call for assistance. Wasn’t able to call the number from hotel phone… waited almost an hour and noone showed up so we just left.
- Lary (8/5): - Older inn with polite customer service. Reasonable rates to get a good nights rest before traveling on. Several tasty dining options some within walking distance or a short drive.
- Wendy (10/5): - This place is a great value for the money!
- Heidi (2/5): - Yes the price was great but they advertise breakfast and there wasn’t any when we were in there and it was during the times that they were supposed to be. There was also no front to our refrigerator. Our room was dirty and never saw anyone that worked there. I think we were alone.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Cozy - Quiet and cozy, will go back
- Wendy (10/5): - This hotel was an excellent value for the money.
- Rhonda (4/5): - No coffee in the room. Tile part of the floor in front of the sink was sticky. When toilet seat cover was down there was dirt behind it
- Arlyn (8/5): - It was good
- Dillon (10/5): - Breakthrough location beautiful
- Sara (2/5): - My husband checked out 3 days early and the “manager” was extremely rude, called me names, and refused to refund the three days he was NOT there. So we paid for someone else to use his room.
They essentially made double the money on one room. I’ve never been treated so poorly by anyone working in the hotel business. I travel all year long, I sometimes need to check out early. It’s never a problem. This entire experience was a nightmare. Do not recommend.
You’re better off staying in your vehicle than giving these criminals your hard earned money.
- Lary (10/5): - A reasonable price for a break from traveling.
- Amy (8/5): - This was my first time in Iowa (from Kansas) and it was a good place to stay overall, but I must admit there were a few minor issues in the particular room I stayed in, hence my 4 star review. The toilet did not always flush well (no plunger provided) and the shower drain was somewhat clogged, as water started rising up while showering. One of the lights in the room was always out, and I could not get the TV to work, no matter how many times I tried to, with the remote control. All of the towels and washcloths provided were clean and washed, but some of them had a bit of stain. There was also an extra $30 fee for checking in early, and they only accept cash for that (no ATM machine there either, by the way) But none of that was actually a big deal to me, as I only stayed there for one day. The beds are big and comfortable, and the microwave, mini fridge, and air conditioner/heater unit worked well. I liked how there was a table, chair, lamp and phone in the room (but I only used my cell phone) and liked how the mirrors were large and not located inside the bathroom, so they don't fog up as easily. The staff is friendly and helpful, plus there is free daily breakfast and room cleaning service available. It's also conveniently located, within walking distance of a Culver's restaurant nearby. Overall, it was a nice, clean, safe place to stay when visiting Clear Lake and/or Mason City and I would still recommend it to anyone looking for a good value while on a brief stay. Thanks!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Only good thing I can say is I think they change the bed sheets. I think. The amount of human hair in the room was rather disgusting.
- Lary (10/5): - Reasonable rates for a good nights rest before moving on.
- More (2/5): - They did not respond
- Dawn (4/5): - No deadbolt on door, bit of a sketchy feeling place. Toilet barely flushed, water came right to top of bowl with every flush. Toilet looked to have urine in it when we first got there. Bathroom sink very slow to drain. Bed was comfy. Free breakfast was BAD! Cold cereal (cereal dispensers were filthy), a few bagels and slices of bread available, but had to hold button down on toaster the whole time. Only butter, no jelly. Did have a waffle maker but we did not try that. Hard boiled eggs, juice and coffee were only other items available.
- Craig (4/5): - Toilet was not clean and there was mildew on the shower curtain. There was a stain on the blanket, and the pillows were dirty and flat.
- Amanda (10/5): - It was quiet and peaceful there. Staff was friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed my evening there.
- John (4/5): - The beds and bedding need updated. The pillows were horrible. 3 pillows to equal almost 1 normal pillow. Breakfast was not good as there were zero protein options available. The cleaning lady knocked on my door multiple times - I even said through the door I was staying til checkout. But she kept coming back. There were no Do Not Distrub signs to put on the door. It was one quick night - so I know, you get what you pay for. If you need multiple nights go somewhere else. If its 1 night and you just need a spot to sleep - its a good value. Jusy expect to go next door to Perkins for breakfast.
- Barbara (10/5): - It was nice
- Stephen (4/5): - very old unkept
- Rickey (8/5): - He always treats me well
- Verified traveler (2/5): Worst Hotel Ever - Shower and toilet weren't clean. Hair everywhere - bed, shower, sink, toilet. Walls are paper thin, and the orange juice was watered down.
- Tony (8/5): - Everything was great
- Lorene (10/5): - Na
- Bob (8/5): - Clean basic room everything worked as it should not fancy but good value
- Verified traveler (6/5): A bit of a disappointment! - Room floor didn't look vacuumed, dirty recliner, ground floor window to parking lot did not close properly to lock, could be open easily from outside, big security issue. TV had big vertical line on screen. Lampshade was broken. Breakfast was a disappointment! Entrance doors were unlocked at late hours, anyone could walk in! Bed spread had burn holes!!! Non smoking room!
- DAVID (10/5): - Great place for the price. Older motel but clean and comfortable.
- Dakotah (2/5): - Not only am I giving this hotel a bad rating I want to put extra emphasis on how terrible the service here was. I stayed here for more than 20 days. Not once did they ask or clean the room. I had to track down employees for anything because the room phone wasn’t working nor was there someone to answer it anyways. The workers appear to live on site. An they’re always in their room. Out of those 20 plus days of my stay they had breakfast maybe 2-3 times. Even tho that’s supposed to be an included daily thing. I will never stay at this hotel again. Plus my room smelled really bad. Pretty sure they have bed bugs, was bitten multiple times unable to figure out where an how. I could go on n on. One good thing was the mini fridge was very good. Kept everything really cold.
- Tony (10/5): - Everything was great
- wade (4/5): - Room was very dirty. Burn holes in furniture and bedding. Very old and uncomfortable
- Ember (6/5): - One of the reasons I chose this hotel was for the free breakfast, but in the morning most of the breakfast items were either gone or the machines were being cleaned.
- Nicole (10/5): - The listing said that there was a pool and so did their books in the rooms, but when asked, I was told there was no pool
