Guest Reviews
- S (2/5): Booking cancelled without me knowing - Booking was cancelled and Hotels.com did not tell me. Only found out by chance when I contacted the hotel a few days before. Had no apology from hotels.com
- Birgit (6/5): Not first choice - The room is very basic, but to be expected for that price. The bed in room 2 is awful. Super uncomfortable, was like sleeping on springs.
The towel holder fell off the wall when I tried to use it.
The carpets could do with a good clean.
Very quiet, which was great.
- Tanya (6/5): - On arrival we were given a chalet type room, which had a sml double bed and a single. The shower took an age to warm up. Loose floor tile next to toilet. Beds were so uncomfortable, i would suggest a matress topper
There was a hole above the front door(needs filling in). On booking there were pictures suggesting food was available when we enquired they have no kitchen. Now the good bits, short distance from town and train station. Plenty of take away places. And only a short drive into Cardiff.
- Carl (8/5): - Average and and affordable
- thomas (10/5): - Is a very nice place to stay would be nice if they served food in the pub attached but other than that no complaints
- Kaysha (6/5): - Bed was really hard so couldn't sleep, very noisy with people talking loudly and shouting outside as are room was right outside beer garden. Had cups, kettle, milk, and coffee and stuff but no tea spoons to stir it with
- Ruth (6/5): - Swift and friendly check in. The lady was extremely helpful and ordered us a taxi when we needed one. Room was basic but clean and the bed was comfortable. Only problem was that the curtains wouldn't close properly. Would stay there again if needed as it is a good budget hotel.
- Maria (6/5): - Lovely staff, clean, soft clean bed. Needs updating or at least refreshing at least with some paint. For the price can’t really complain but I would rather pay a bit extra to have it refreshed with that paint I mentioned earlier
- Dave (8/5): - Good size room. Friendly staff. Friendly pub downstairs. Clean room. Bathroom ok. Free parking. Great value stay.
- Adrian (4/5): Tadross Barry - The room was tidy and clean wasn’t fussy on the sitting on the check in desk. The room next to us there were four in one room and they kept us awake all night talking and shouting for the price it was ok. Would I recommend it No
- Nicole (2/5): - Staff friendly our annex was ok had damp in it the hotel/ pub not so nice the locals made it very clear that you wasn’t welcome all we wanted was a quick drink but was told we couldn’t sit anywhere in the pub so it was best we left if we hadn’t gone especially for our daughters birthday and drove 5 hrs to get there we would of gone straight home
- Dean (10/5): - Left our room door unlocked all day no issues, daily cleaning, lovley staff everyone was friendly. Cant wait to go back
- Peter (8/5): - Staff & regulars were friendly & helpful. I found the rail station easy to get to.
- David (10/5): - Clean and tidy rooms. Fast check in and key to let yourself in if returning late. Saturday night noise from the venue below and later in the street outside that woke us up was the only issue and not the fault of the hotel.
- Michael (10/5): - Staff were excellent the 3 days i stayed there, could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Managed to get a later check out as my flight home wasn't until Sunday night. Would stay there again if I'm down that way.
- Sarah (8/5): Affordable and doable for a night - Don’t be put off by what it looks like outside. It’s a social club that’s tired and a little shabby with rubbish etc outside. BUT, the staff are very nice and helpful and the room (separate building by the car park) was very clean and comfortable, albeit in need of a little TLC (curtains handing down). I have paid a lot more for a far worse room in other places and for what we paid I think it was absolutely fine and for be night, would use it again. Plus, although a club, very little noise.
- Rachel (8/5): - Had a good stay here, we wanted to stay as the pub is used in Gavin and Stacey, me and my son are big fans, for the price we paid i cant complain, yes the room was basic, but it was fine, we had a twin room, double bed was ok but the single was not comfy, very friendly staff who we met there and a gorgeous cat Norma, definitely would stay again 😀
- Roy (10/5): - We had a double room on the second floor booke for 2 nights. Ensuite, double bed, TV clean. There were no wardrobes but an alcove with two coat hangers. Staff very friendly and offered to carry bags up stairs. I said we could do with a few more hangers, and within minutes she was at the door with more. I asked if we could have a couple of chairs and within minutes they were provided, Tea and coffee provided but no kitchen facilities. We were told they nearly never survived Covid and justgetting back on their feet. Welcome to purchase food several takeaways local and bar staff provide clean crockery and eating utensils. They even opened up the lounge for us so we hade somewhere quiet to eat. Bar staff friendly, prices reasonable, £4 a pint. We were made to feel welcome and at home, they waved us goodbye. It is budget but warm clean friendly, locals too. We would stay a gain good value.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice stay - The room was clean and a good size for our stay. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
- Karen (10/5): Friendly stay - Absolutely excellent value for money chilled relaxed great base
- Teri (10/5): - Staff were excellent. Made us feel very welcome and were very kind.
- Chris (10/5): - The staff were excellent and very friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice - A nice place to stay for a few nights. Beds were not the comfiest, but once you get used to them, they're okay.
Staff were nice, and there's plenty of shops nearby for whatever you need.
- Danielle (10/5): - The room we had was spacious, very clean, decorated in neutral colours and very comfortable. It was lovely and bright in the day and dark in the evening. It was the best night sleep away from home we have had. The staff were friendly, helpful and kind. The facilities were spacious and clean and a lovely hot shower. Highly recomend a stay!
- cindy (6/5): - The room is big enough, but the shower is poor flow and not hot enough. No wifi available in the room and public area despite the website saying there was.
- Edward (8/5): - Nice local people
- Gordon (10/5): - Great budget hotel. Enormous room, clean and recently decorated. Mattress a little soft for my taste but tremendous value
- Glyn (8/5): - Great price for a reasonable room in Cardiff, staff were helpful and very friendly.
- Michelle (10/5): Booked for the Festival of the Seas weekend, Barry - Don't believe the bad reviews, we stayed in Room 3 outside the hotel, highly recommend. They let us check in an hr early, lovely big room out in the beer garden of the hotel. Very clean and comfortable, staff lovely, will be back!
- Mervyn (10/5): - Brillaint place to stay, room was simple and clean. Staff were friendly.
- caroline (6/5): - The Hotel will need some refurbishment and investment. However the room was clean and tidy, bed linen clean and ironed and towels clean. Staff lovely and friendly. Ideal location for an out of Cardiff location . We went to a concert so it was ideal. Would also recommend A2Z taxi service.
Well done Barry, nice to see you
- Georges (10/5): - Highly recommend
Thx
- David (6/5): - There was no catch on bathroom door and the handle fell off . The holder for the shower hose wasnt tight. So couldn't be adjusted just at bottom of pole. Room was clean enough and price was reasonable. Just needed a bit of maintenance
- Timothy (8/5): - Pub from outside looked very disappointing but staff were friendly and our actuall accommodation was clean bright and comfortable
- James (10/5): - Would stay here again as long as the television is tuned in 🤔
- Sylvia (6/5): - The property was nice no breakfast included or the option of having one the central heating wasn’t working only had a small electric heater the room was very cold
- A M (2/5): Avoid - Right in the beer garden, boisy and no manager to talk to, booked for 3 days asked for a refund as i left after 1 nigjt and no manager available, Hotels.com then messaged them and bo response so because the manager didnt respond i dont get a refund, great customer service 🙄 not
- Matthew (8/5): - _
- linda (8/5): Helpful staff 👌 - Hotel was well presented. Had the privilege of having a bar downstairs this is not noicey much at night time .. Chinese around the courner was tasty .friendly staffs.
- Richard (2/5): - I got to the room on top floor opened the door to an unmade slept in already bed with rice in!!! The bed smelled of sweat walked into the toilet to be faced with a toilet full of no2 that was it for me im not one for complaining normally about slight issues but there was absolutely no chance my partner nor myself after a very pleasant evening out it the town, were ending the night here was an absolute disgace!!! I felt to embarraced to complain so left and booked with travelodge at a cosiderable expense in cardiff city center .......very poor standard wont ever be visiting again
- Sian (10/5): Tadoss - First time to Barry and came as a stopover for the Cardiff half marathon. Tadoss is great value for money. It is clean and well positioned.
- J (8/5): A great surprise of Gavin and Stacey! - This hotel was above a pub, so wasn't expecting much. On arrival we were greatest with a friendly guy and had a nice chat. Told him we were staying for the Gavin and Stacey tour, to this point he then divulged that the Christmas special was actually filmed there! We were showed to our room. Everything was very clean and tidy and had fresh towels in the room. I couldn't fault the look of the room, however the bed was the most uncomfortable I've slept in. I do however have arthritis and am used to an Emma mattress. This was the only fault we could find. I know if I'd have said something the staff would have changed it immediately as they were that helpful. We were only there for 1 night so didn't make a fuss. We visited the pub in the evening and the locals had saved a table for us, as it had featured in Gavin and Stacey, which was a lovely touch. Overall, I'd stay again. The staff were lovely and the accomodation was clean.
- A P (8/5): Perfect to get your head down for the night. - You get what you pay for, but couldn’t grumble with the room it was clean and tidy and what I can gather the rooms out the back are better than in the hotel. It was perfect to get your head down for the night and a cheeky pint before heading out for the night.
- Emma (4/5): - The room itself was ok. It is not luxurious but will do for the night. Needed a deep clean and a new mattress but it was perfectly acceptable for a night. The banister leading up to the top floor well I wouldn’t touch it and not had anyone else in months and someone had written “clean me” on the top floor which hadn’t been cleaned.
But for a night it’s acceptable. The staff very very welcoming and friendly.
- Anita (10/5): Barry Island - The Tadross Hotel was very good and great value for money, the people were very friendly. If you like staying in a pub type establishment and are not expecting 5 stars then this is definitely the best in Barry.
- Kamal (6/5): - I would say the service was great!!
Problem is noise and waifai.
- John (6/5): - Poor shower
Uncomfortable bed
Toilet not flush fully
Very stuffy in room ie no fans
The property was value for money
£50 per night double room / en-suite
- Przemek (10/5): - All good
- Hayley (10/5): - Wasn’t expecting the family room to be so big. All the things you need for a last minute stay. Tea and coffee facilities too. Very clean and comfortable for the four of us. We had a great stay. Thanks a lot!
- Tonny (10/5): Best walk-in hotel Cardiff - My stay was amazing and everyone at the hotel was amazing and so kind
- Elaine (6/5): - Lovely staff but accommodation could do with a little TLC. Very basic room that needed an uplift. Curtain over door was hanging off and it was cold despite there being heaters in the room.
- M J (6/5): I had a very relaxing, and quiet time here. - I was seen almost straightaway taken to my room which was outside as I requested, I found the room a fair size for one person, it was clean and warm, very inviting, I could use the shower with ease, there was plenty of towels, the double bed was very comfortable I was quite poorly during my stay and spent most of my time in it, I didnt see anybody only for an hour inside the bar where I met some old chums of mine and a had a pint with them, nice pleasant atmosphere there as always.
- Glyn (10/5): friendy and comfortable - Very comfortable stay in the annex. Couldn’t get wi-fi but room really comfortable and my welcome was very friendly. Direct access to car park from side gate opposite room was an added bonus when having to enter and exit in very wet weather. Very pleased with the stay thank you
- Verified traveler (6/5): Basic and typical pub room - not worth the money. - Bit run down. Room was extremely cold and only heating was a plug in electric heater. Breakfast was basic and in a room that was clearly used for an event the night before. So was old food and mess around.
- Marianne (10/5): Early check in, clean room, friendly staff - Arrived at 10.30am, I asked if I could change the room to a twin, rather than the double (a double was all that was available on the website when I booked), they gave my daughter an I a family room in the garden
and let us check in there and then!!. Very clean, lots of tea/coffee/milk, large shower. Had a drink the bar that evening, all the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast the following day was lovely and complimentary. All in all a lovely stay, very good value for money. I think we'll be back in the near future.
- Alwen (10/5): Great place for an affordable stay. - Had a really good time all the staff did their best to make sure we had a good time, they even sort out a problem with a booking for us.The room we had was really nice with plenty of room to move around and very quiet .We had booked Sunday lunch for 6 of us but then had to change it to 2 ,they did this without any fuss.If you want a great home cooked meal then there is no better place. Will be using it again Thanks to all.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Staff were friendly but the accommodation was absolutely disgusting! Carpets all ripped and frayed. Toilet and shower wasn't cleaned there was mould around the seals. Floors weren't clean. Walls had holes in and ones that were patched up weren't painted. The most upsetting part is our 6 year old son picked up a pill on the floor to which he thought was a sweet, luckily he is old enough to know not to put it in his mouth but couldn't say the same if it were a younger child? I know it was only £75 but we have stayed in cheaper places and have had much nicer experiences.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Budget 'OK' Accommodation - Position okay for local shops, however our bedroom was situated overlooking the main road/bus stop which proved to be noisy traffic wise, with the addition of pub users/public chatting and making a noise outside. Plenty of takeaways to choose between but enjoyed especially nice Greek meal in the only local 'eat in' restaurant further down the road. Bed comfortable, linen clean - though carpet, furniture and bathroom were all rather tired and neglected. Cereal, slice of toast and cup of tea were a surprise inclusive. Friendly staff. I guess for the money charged it was an adequate stop over but wouldn't recommend or use again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - An old hotel in need of upgrade but clean and comfortable and priced reflecting the dated condition. Friendly staff and good complimentary continental breakfast. WiFi was not working at all in our room. When we queried they said it was due to being an old building and WiFi was advertised on their website as working in communal areas only. That wasn’t obvious on Expedia when we booked. Handy location.
- prakash p. (8/5): It's good - The bed is poor. We couldn't able to rest properly.
- Trace (10/5): Very friendly and clean hotel - Very friendly welcome at reception, we arrived earlier than stated but lady on reception ( didn’t know her name but she had black hair) pushed them through while we had a drink at the bar. Rooms very clean tea and coffee in room. We only stayed 1 night for a concert in Cardiff close to train station.
Complimentary breakfast very nice
- Janice (10/5): - Tadross was great stay in Barry Wales
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The Hotel pub was great value for money. The staff were very friendly
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I always enjoy staying at The Tadross, its friendly and clean. Only tiny thing is the blinds were broken in the room so a few bits were missing and that could be changed but its only a very tiny picky thing.
Always love staying there and look forward to staying there again soon
- Beverley (10/5): Friendly old fashioned pub - Really friendly and helpful. The building is old, so we were up 2 flights of stairs and the bathroom was built into a corner with a noisy macerator, but we had all comforts we needed, room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was complimentary and great, branded cereals, great choice, fruit and toast. Staff couldn't have been nicer.
- sheila (8/5): Welcoming, clean and comfortable - This is a lovely stop over hotel, yes it is a bit tired, but it more than makes up for it in welcome and beautifully clean and comfortable beds.
- Steve (8/5): - We were made to feel very welcome and had a great weekend stay
- Megane (10/5): good value and friendly Victorian pub in centre - Cool comfy spacious room . Welcoming reception with bar . Simple breakfast included .
- Eddemi (6/5): It's about right for the price - This hotel was very cheap - the cheapest option around but you get what you pay for.
The room was literally in the pub garden - an extension of the pub. So there was music and voices up until around 11pm. No blackout curtains, just blinds that let the street light in. There was a stale smell of cigarettes and an overpowering smell of air freshener. They are pretty much all the negatives.
The room was clean and comfortable and I slept very well. The staff were lovely and it's very close to Barry town. I probably wouldn't stay there again - but if you want somewhere cheap, and don't mind pub noise then this place will do fine.
I didn't take up the breakfast option but it sounded nice.
- P (2/5): Not worth the money, dirty and run down - Terrible experience. We stayed in the family room. Youths drinking in the attached pub doing drugs outside our door. Room filthy and run down. Holes in towels, no lamps just full lighting, dusty, no curtains on main huge double glass doors, old thin cream office style blinds in windows, tares in carpet, hair bobble holding shower head in place, generally a dump and not worth the price charged of £80 for 1 night. Pub is very old and run down. Breakfast was cereal or toast which was fine, can’t go wrong with that, but we did expect a clean room to eat in. Hands stuck to the tables, a dirty smeared mirror and cutlery was a case of find it yourself in a cabinets drawers. It wasn’t even in a cutlery tray, just dumped in a pine drawer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good location - Very friendly and helpful staff. Always have a nice stay. Only thing i would say is need more pillows in the room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): A total nightmare!! - It was a total nightmare. Don't go there. There was loud music from the bar downstairs and traffic noise outside. Also rowdy people. There was no Wi-Fi in room. It is a drab, run-down, depressing place. Thank goodness I was only there for one night
- MJ (8/5): Nice hptel not too far from Cardiff - Room comfortable . good value for money. Basic breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location for the station. comfortable rooms with a basic but perfectly adequate breakfast
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Friendly staff, good location
