- julie02026 (2/5): Unwelcoming Staff - My niece recently got married at Camp Lucy, and while the venue itself is undeniably beautiful, our overall experience was very disappointing. The property and scenery are stunning, and it initially seemed like the perfect place for such a special occasion. Unfortunately, the staff completely overshadowed that beauty. Many of the staff members we encountered were rude and unhelpful, which made guests feel unwelcome rather than cared for. The restaurant service was another major issue. Multiple people in our group mentioned how long it took to be served, and when the food finally arrived, it was cold. It wasn’t just our experience—others we spoke with had the same complaints. To make matters worse, they refused to seat more than six people together, which made it impossible for our family to dine as a group. Because of this, we ended up having to go somewhere else to eat. It’s unfortunate because the setting has so much potential, but the poor service and lack of hospitality really took away from what should have been a joyful and memorable weekend.
- KevinV75 (10/5): Don't miss this experience - We stayed at Camp Lucy for our first visit in early Dec., 2023. We loved the property (and Tillie's) then, and loved it even more this time. We will be returning to the Austin area from Chicago at least annually and plan to stay at CL again for our next visit in about 9 months. We plan to invite friends to join us. Additionally, the Ex Chef at Tillie's (Andrew) was extremely welcoming and helpful to us, as we dined there both nights of our stay. The food and service is top rate. CL is one of our favorite travel choices in the US. Finally the spa is about to open in the next month or so. It looks stunning and we can't wait to use the services provided during our next visit.
- timkA2921AH (10/5): A Gem Tucked Away in the Hill Country - Camp Lucy is a truly special resort, with beautiful rooms, a secluded location, and a gorgeous landscape. Most rooms are in little duplex-style cabins, so you only share a wall with one other room and have lots of windows on the other three sides of the building. The layout makes the cabins feel private, and there are beautiful trees and gardens around the property. My wife and I stayed in an Estate room with our two dogs, and it was phenomenal. There is a beautiful stone soaking tub, a rain shower, and a nice kitchenette in the room. High ceilings and numerous windows enhance the atmosphere. The rooms also include delicious and easy-to-use pour-over coffee kits. Camp Lucy boasts some architectural gems: Tillie's restaurant and several other buildings were imported piece by piece from southeast Asia and reconstructed on the property, and they are beautiful. Speaking of Tillie's, the food was incredible and a major highlight of our stay. The resort also has nice amenities: a luxurious swimming pool with lounge chairs and a swim-up bar; hiking trails; alpacas; and even a chicken coop with a variety of breeds. For an additional fee, activities like a vineyard tour and olive oil tasting are available, and those were very fun.
- Betsy448 (10/5): Venue, Beautiful ;Food c+ - What a beautiful wedding we attended ! The grounds are amazing and well manicured! The appetizers wonderful but don’t pick the chicken for main meal - a leg/thigh piece & hard to cut. The baby carrots were barely steamed, so eating like bugs bunny was only choice ( but at a formal wedding ???) I realize cooking for a very large group is difficult, but this is what they do… The wedding itself wouldn’t miss, beautiful area & venue. Space limited for rooms there so stayed in airbnb cabin at Medrona Ranch which was lovely- very comfortable & only 10-15 min away.

Tillies was delicious and chefs menu was great! Grounds are kept so beautifully. Quiet and serene. We will be back! Thanks for everything!!

- kimmysue42 (10/5): Wedding Event space - I attended a wedding here in November. It was a great experience. Not an easy place to get to and not a lot of higher end hotel options so keep that in mind or have a designated driver to get you back to Austin in one piece. The outdoor service site is very intimate and beautiful with the trees & shabby chic feel. The reception building that we were in was lively. High ceilings with wood beams and romantic lighting. Spacious for the 100 or so guests- you could fit a few more in but it wasn’t crowded. Wish the wedding table was raised to see them easier. Pretty drive into the camp too.
- cherylsR3233RH (8/5): Beautiful place if you love your neighbors - Nice getaway after the holidays. Pros - beautiful property, pool area and restaurant, comfortable Vista room, responsive staff. Short hike with an expansive view. 30 minutes from Hye and only a little further to Fredericksburg; also close to Hamilton Pool. Cons - restaurant has a very limited menu although the food was very good. Vista room is pier and beam construction and has a connecting door to the next room, so kids running around sound like elephants. Nice terrace but looks immediately onto your neighbor's terrace. Imagine the whole place would be quite noisy during busy seasons.

- dtbreviews (6/5): Nevermind. - Went for a rehearsal dinner and wedding. Truly, no other reason to visit here as it is in the middle of nowhere. There is no room service and the food is average at best. Restaurant and front desk service was beyond slow. Olivia at the front desk was unpleasant and down right rude with every interaction we had with her. The property is nice enough. Loved the chicken coop. The sheets are so scratchy you will think you have an allergy. The chapel was very sweet.

The evening was a huge success. The service was impeccable, the atmosphere was unique, and the food was outstanding. Of our eleven people there, everyone agreed it was one of the best meals they'd ever had. And we had some real foodies in our group. As the organizer for my corporate event, Camp Lucy and Michaela made me look like a rock star. And the food at Tillie's was 5 star. We will be back soon.

Overall the pool placement feels like an after thought to the property layout. Also, worth noting the pool is not heated and they do not have any hot tubs. - I stayed at one of their largest lodgings (Lucy Cottage) and it did not have an individual outdoor fire pit. The property does have communal fire pits but those are a drive away from the cottage we were at. - Their Lucy Cottage is a charmless old looking 3 bed/3 bath house that was renovated on the inside at builder's grade quality. - For the price of the stay, I would have expected a golf card to have been provided since the lodging we were at was a drive away from the pool, communal fire pits, and restaurant. - If you want to eat at the onsite restaurant with 8 guests they require you to rent their private room that has a $750 tax rental fee since the main dining room cannot accommodate a party size larger than 7.

- Kyle (8/5): - Pros: Creekside cabin was secluded and relatively quiet. Beds were comfortable and the cabin was clean. Staff was very nice Cons: No BBQ grill at all. We expected to be able to grill renting a creekside cabin. Also no fire pit at the cabin itself. Only the community fire pits up the hill and near reception area. (About a half mile walk) Also a very bright, large street light/flood lamp in the yard takes away from night sky and stargazing at the cabin. One of the main reasons we wanted to stay in hill country. Was a little disappointing. Lastly, and not a huge deal for us but worth noting yard maintenance crew arrived fairly early one morning, I understand this is necessary but perhaps the scheduling of their arrival can be considered when guests are at the cabin. Overall, it was a nice relaxing visit but hard to justify the cost for us to return due to some of our family’s cons.

The grounds, rooms and food were all spectacular. The service was excellent. Everyone said that they are coming back to Camp Lucy for personal travel.

Stuff on wall. Bed is soft and kills your back. Attached restaurant is similarly overpriced/overrated. No spa or exercise room on property, none of which would be a big deal if they weren’t charging $400 a night. Nothing is included with that $400 except plastic water jugs one of which melted in the car. Save money and stay down the street

We enjoyed sitting on our balcony each morning and evening. We had dinner at Tillie’s, lunch at the pool bar and room service pastries. We had run out of coffee and the front desk asked how many cups we would like and brought them immediately. I felt like I had a personal concierge during my stay because of the attentive staff. The grounds are beautiful and serene.

We didn’t do any of the organized (i.e., pay for) activities but did it on our own. I highly recommend the Red trail through the woods for hiking – or just walking around anywhere – then hang out by the pool. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. While pricey, if you’re looking for a relaxing weekend I would recommend Camp Lucy.

The llamas are a fun surprise, make sure to get food at front desk to feed them :) Hiking trails were great, and well marked, the many fire pit hang out areas were so fun! Loved this place, will come back!

Camp Lucy is an oasis and a welcome respite from the crazy world we live in. We cannot wait to return!

- sharelife2 (10/5): Best Wedding Weekend! - We had the best experience at Camp Lucy for my nephews wedding. What an amazing place for a family gathering and the most beautiful wedding. What I want to focus on is the staff. I believe the first front desk attendant was Jordyn maybe- we arrived after 10 pm and she quickly brought more hangers and an extra towel. I had a small issue with the bed and the next day Mary went above and beyond to remedy the situation. She was delighted to help and didn’t make me feel embarrassed. The bartenders at the pool bar were fun and so helpful and attentive. Housekeeping staff were always smiling and joyful and arrived at the same time daily which helped anticipate when we should be out- when we were not they happily showed up later. I would 100% recommend a stay at Camp Lucy and if possible a wedding weekend or large event. It was wonderful.

For our adult family weekend we enjoyed a night out at a local brewery, then after chilling at the pool we celebrated at Tillie's the next night. The meal for 9 persons was served family style with a great selection of starters and entrées, the tomahawk steaks and fabulous desserts are real showstoppers. Dietary preferences were accommodated. Tillie's serves elevated cuisine, so please understand the cost before sitting down. Outstanding service in distinctive decor!
- W839VQmelissaf (10/5): Cheers to 30 Years! - It was Christmas in July as our sorority celebrated 30 years of Alpha Chi Omega sisterhood and friendship at Camp Lucy! From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed by the wonderful staff. We enjoyed a delicious dinner at Tillie’s our first night and had the most relaxing Sunday Funday with yoga under a Vietnamese pavilion, memorable family style brunch on the patio, and then cocktails poolside. Camp Lucy is a beautiful Hill Country get away and perfect place to unwrap the gift of friendship!

The restaurant, Tilley’s, is beautiful and has the best bone in ribeye I have ever been served. The staff are awesome and the pictures of the cottages do not even remotely do the place justice. Lots of nearby wineries, Dreamland for mini golf is a blast, horseback riding and....they said Camp Lucy is starting planning for an on-site SPA!!! (Thinking 2022/2023 timeframe).

The room had no towel or paper towels in the kitchen, one fork, one spoon and one knife. I stopped at the front desk and asked about paper towels and utensils and was handed a handful of paper towels. I was told that they can not stock the rooms due to Covid. I have stayed in numerous hotels in the past year and haven't had this issue. I also stayed at another ranch in the San Antonio area this trip and the rooms all had a roll of paper towels, utensils and a sponge and was half the price of Camp Lucy. $4 of disposable supplies would have made this place 5 stars, but attention to detail (especially the small details) makes all the difference in my world.

- Sue (10/5): - Beautiful setting. Pool capacity restricted so easy to social distance; loved pool side service, kids loved the alpaca feeding (we went 3 times), the archery and hatchet throwing. Room was ultra quiet and clean and easily slept 6 . The fridge was vital and even had a mini freezer to keep our cool blocks frozen. We brought sandwich meats and cheeses with us to minimize restaurant interactions. A perfect spot for a social distancing retreat. Nearby State Parks were beautiful; recomment Mckinney and Pedernales but book early. The room we had comfortably slept 6 people: 2 teenagers, 2 younger kids and 2 adults. My only complaint is that the construction and trucks beginning at 7:00am made sitting on the balcony in the cool of the morning a noisy experience (although in the room you could not hear anything).
- Nichole (8/5): Beautiful Place With a Few Mishaps - Hands down Camp Lucy is one of the most aesthetically designed places I’ve ever stayed. The bathroom tile, exposed beams, and antique doors set amongst the beauty of the Hill Country was relaxing and inspiring. With this in mind, there are a few things I would have expected to be better in order to justify the cost. 1. Our room was a little dirty. There were dirt handprints and smashed bugs on the bathroom walls, dirt and dust on the floor, and food crumbs and spills on the coffee table. 2. The food service was lacking. Upon check in, we ordered our in room dining for dinner and breakfast, except neither showed up when it came time. After calling the front desk numerous times and getting busy signals and an “it should be there soon”, we left the property in search for dinner after 1 hour past when it was expected. When we returned, the food was in our room and the cost was removed from our bill. In the morning, we were told to pick up our breakfast from guest services. The presentation was nice, the food meh. Mass produced grocery store muffins/croissants did not seem to go with the brand of Camp Lucy (maybe a partnership with a local bakery would have been better as the property’s own restaurant is working less due to COVID). 3. The organization was lacking. No one called to follow up about our late dinner, the skewers for roasting marshmallows were missing. All in all, I would stay here again for the atmosphere but not at full price and would plan to dine elsewhere.

- Eric (10/5): Family Getaway - The guest check-in person was named Kali or Kailey (sp?) and she was friendly and informative with all of the amenities. I called to ask about breakfast and she heard me speaking to my daughter, who is 2 and 1/2, and she asked if I would like a kid's teepee for our room. It gave my daughter a "fort", which she loved and some privacy for my wife and I.
- Courtney (10/5): - Let me start by saying that we stayed here during the beginnings of the coronavirus scare in Central Texas. We arrived on the day they were rolling out social distancing requirements. The staff was pleasant, kind and delightful upon arrival considering we were probably one of the only families at the resort. The grounds are gorgeous the rooms are so cute, there was plenty to do with my kids. We were there definitely during an abnormal time, but it was such a nice little break. There is plenty of open space for families to spread out and have quality time together. We enjoyed the hiking, feeding the alpacas and just taking strolls around the grounds. It was a pleasant experience and we look forward to returning. Tillies even stayed open during our stay, which I know was hard to do considering no one was going out to restaurants. The food was yummy and drinks even better. I wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else during this crazy time. Can’t wait to return!

Both rooms were amazing. We had a bit of hiccups with the housecleaning who didn’t show but the hotel front staff and manager really stepped up to help rectify the situation. We had dinner at Tillies one night which was exquisite and perfect for a date night. Enjoyed the quiet pool, s’mores, fishing and feeding alpacas. There are lots of other activities going on as well that you can sign up for. It really is a hidden gem.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - This place has so much potential but it seems they don’t want to put in the effort. We stayed 3 nights here during July, plenty of time to see what they offer. The place is gorgeous but there’s no staff. The whole time we were there we only saw the college girls reluctantly running the front desk. Housekeeping turned our sign from “clean service” to “do not disturb” to avoid having to tidy our room and when we got back they said they were gone for the day, no cleaning would be done but they could bring us some towels. For $300 per night I expect a daily room cleaning. Also make sure to pack enough clothing because there is no laundry services or facilities available. I along with 3 other Mothers who were guests asked about activities which were scarce. There is a list of activities and not a soul to coordinate them. You will walk around asking who what and where and get only the eye rolling college front desk girl who would rather argue with you about how she’s not wrong than attend to your needs as a guest. Beautiful place but they have a lot to learn about hospitality industry.

We loved the soaking tubs and rain showers. The rooms are beautifully decorated! The highlight of our stay was Tillies restaurant located at the resort. The food was phenomenal we ate there almost every meal. I only have 1 recommendation they can improve. The mattresses could be more comfortable.

Housekeeping failed to clean our room although we were out all day. Front desk immediately brought us clean towels. The location is a bit of a drive from anything that you might want to go do, but that is also the appeal - you will not hear any traffic noise or anything except nature.
