- Emanèse (9/5): Lovely stay, I would come back again. - The staff was very helpful. We are grateful for them. We've been served well, the food is amazing (generous on the breakfast!). The hotel is centrally located and I thoroughly enjoyed the activities offered in the lobby by night : concert, salsa night etc. The bathroom can be improved, the plumbing in general needs to be changed. There were some electricity shortage but that's general.

- Elisabeth (10/5): Dépaysement total - Très bel hôtel, dans une gingerbread house (comme on les appelle), qui sont les maisons typiques de Jacmel. Idéalement situé au centre ville, entre deux petites rues très calme. Le check-in s'est très bien passé, nous avons été très bien accueillis. Nous étions à l'appartement 8, très bien aménagé, et donnant sur une terrasse très très sympa. La chambre est faite tous les jours, elle était donc toujours propre. L'intérieur de l'hotel est très typique, avec des meubles et une déco qui renvoie tout de suite à l'époque des grands commerçants à jacmel suite à l'indépendance d'Haïti (Haiti etait alors un port stratégique). Le personnel est très à l'écoute, et nous a accompagné tout au long de notre séjour, avec simplicité et bienveillance. Vous trouverez les plats incontournables de l'île sur place, très très bien cuisinés, vous trouverez un chauffeur qui peut vous conduire sur les sites touristiques de jacmel, et surtout vous trouverez la tranquilité qui vous vaudra une expérience inoubliable. Je recommande et y reviendrai ! Encore merci au staff spécialement à Jean le manager, Peterson jeune homme très serviable et bienveillant, Reynold le chauffeur qui est très marrant, et tous ceux dont je n'ai pas vraiment retenu le prénom :)

- Verified traveler (6/5): - The layout of my first room was logistically unpleasant and forced me to change my room. I kept hitting my knee every time I passed the bed and only one outlet was available for use. My 2nd room was an esthetically lovely room (a surprise upgrade), but the exceptionally poor Wi-Fi connection, non-working TV, and lack of hot water ruined that ambiance. The historical features, in-house artistic events, and sweet/helpful staff members were helped improve my experience. Lastly, the location of the hotel was also perfect for historical and waterfall tours, nightlife, and boardwalk activities.

- Mardi (8/5): - We stayed here for one night based on seeing it on Chef Jose Andres' "Undiscovered Haiti" (a must watch if you are travelling to Haiti). It's an older building, beautifully preserved, with a large bar/ restaurant in the lobby where you can enjoy what we have heard on good (local) authority is the BEST rhum sour in the country. We stayed in the "old kitchen" room (one of the smaller rooms that has its own little courtyard (shared with other rooms, though we were the only guests) which was fairly basic but quite charming. Bed has a mosquito net and a fan. Hotel has a small courtyard where we parked our car during our stay. Breakfast was toast with butter/ mamba (the local spicy peanut butter - don't miss it!) and fresh fruit with great coffee (you can buy the coffee from the bar to bring home). A great base to explore the town.

Les (5 nuits suivantes on m'a fourni une belle chambre avec balcon Seul problème; les toilettes étaient régulièrement bouchées! Malgré tout, l'hotel est très agréable et j'en suis très satisfait J'y retourne d'ailleurs régulièrement pour me connecter à Internet et on m'y accueille rès gentillement Cet hotel mérite d'être recommandé

The food was good the coffee in the morning was great.

- Martine (6/5): Typical old hotel - You are looking for a typical old hotel. All right, this is the hotel for you. But you have to take the poor accommodations too. No clim, very little bathroom, not enough parking, and they could pay more attention to the maintenance of their accommodations (water running poorly in the shower, light on and off, …). If you have an appointment at about 9 o’clock in the morning, you’ll get some slices of bread with peanut butter and jam and some fruit, forget about juice and eggs. But, if you have time and you visit this hotel for diner, you’ll sit in a wonderful place with very nice art, … enjoy !

The house staff was very friendly, especially the bartender and the intern who was working evenings. The food was excellent and far better than any other food we had in the town.
- Karin (10/5): hemel op aarde? 1 adres: florita!!! - Het was er geweldig. Geen woorden om ons verblijf te beschrijven. De gastheer was fantastisch, dank je wel Jean voor alles. Tino zorgde voor een veilig gevoel tijdens de nacht maar ook buiten zijn werkuren was hij heel behulpzaam, correct en altijd even vriendelijk. Beleque, de supervriendelijke barman en het meisje dat ons 's morgens steeds met de meest warme glimlach ons ontbijt verzorgde, stuk voor stuk zeer warme bekwame mensen. Kamer heel netjes, rook naar bloemetjes, superkwaliteit van service, zalige douche, toilet dat werkt, heerlijk bed met muskietennet, superheerlijk vegetarisch/veganistisch eten waar vele Belgische chefs nog veel van kunnen leren, overheerlijke koffie en hemelse mamba. Locatie perfect: dicht bij de zee, in het centrum, overal dichtbij. Kortom: voor herhaling vatbaar en zeker aan te bevelen: wij gaan terug!!!!!

Great location, walking distance from the boardwalk and the ocean. No air conditioning system, it was quite hot and the two fans couldn't bring any relief.

That place is magic.The service is great especially the friendliness of their staff, they are very welcoming and accomodating. From the staff at the desk to the guys at the bar and the housekeeping ladies. Jean, the manager, always on site and always listening to make sure the experience is remarkable for the guests. I will also mention the great service and hospitality of Roody at reception, Beatrice and Dominique at the bar to name a few. Altogther a great experience. One can't say enough about the charm of that 19th century colonial building and how great the vibe is at that hotel. It's the '' Hangout'' place in Jacmel. I can't wait to go back.
- GEORGE (10/5): A lovely slice of history ... - The Florita is in a renovated historic old brick building with a lot of charm. The owner, who, like me grew up in Brooklyn, NY, lives in property, and is a very charming guy with tons of interesting stories. The food is excellent, and the Barbancourt rum drinks are exquisite. The staff is friendly & efficient and the rooms are super clean. The music in the lobby was an extra treat ... classical in the morning, jazz, blues, & reggae in the evening.

I have been in contact with the hotel and Expedia. There was an error made in the descriptions of the rooms which has now been corrected. - Rudy (8/5): Didn't Get What We Booked - The Florita is an aging queen straight out of a Graham Greene or Hemingway novel, complete with her own cast of characters. It is difficult to rate our stay in this hotel as there was an issue with the booking. We booked a Superior room with a queen and a twin bed as we were traveling with our adult daughter. The information also stated that it had a “view”. On arrival we were told that the Superior room only comes with a king size bed. Eventually they found a mattress to put on the floor for us. The room also had no “view”. There are rooms tucked into all kinds of corners in this hotel, so if you want a view you will have to make arrangements. I don't know where the error occurred; the hotel or Expedia. Other than the booking issue our stay was very pleasant. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We were told several times to just ask if we needed anything. The bar/restaurant area is a beautiful place to eat, drink, relax and connect with fellow travelers. The food is good and the rum sours are the best we had in Haiti. We hired their driver to take us to Bassin Bleu (a must see) and a couple of nearby beaches. If you are more adventurous you can take a “moto” which will be cheaper.The hotel is located in the heart of the arts district, which is what Jacmel is known for. There are lots of artisan shops around where you can haggle for handmade crafts and support the local community. There are a few bars and restaurants around if you want to try something different.

The food was great, service was prompt and the people are very helpful. Several people speak English and had great recommendations for places to see! Very historic! I would stay here again without question!!!!
- Meredith (10/5): Charming, old hotel with best food in town! - Both the manager and owner of the hotel are accessible to answer any questions and requests. The staff are also friendly and helpful. I was picked up in Port au Prince by a driver, which was great considering how chaotic the airport is. The rooms aren't air-conditioned, but the fans were fine for nighttime. Depending on the weather, I didn't always have hot water bc they use solar panels. Even the locals told me the Florita has the best food in town - everything on the menu was delicious, I ended up eating all my meals at the hotel. I was in town for a charitable cause, and the hotel arranges free transportation for charities, so I was able to deliver medical supplies, clothing, etc without any issue.

Mauvaise gestion de l'hôtel : j'avais réservé et payé sur internet pour 4 nuits et en arrivant, le gérant m'explique qu'il y a une erreur et que je ne pourrais rester que deux nuits car l'hôtel est complet. Cette erreur est arrivé à plusieurs clients de l'hotel et semble être une erreur courante. Au restaurant, personne ne vient servir. Nous sommes obligés de venir au bar passer commande alors que nous sommes très peu nombreux dans la salle. 1h30 d'attente pour avoir un sandwich. Je déconseille cet hôtel et ce restaurant
- Jefferson (10/5): Go back in time! - Hotel Florita is an amazing hotel in the center of Jacmel. It's style is reminiscent of New Orleans, balcony architecture. I loved the room and the third floor balcony! Worth every cent. The staff helped out tremendously. They have great water available which makes it good for meals or a hot day. Be ready to experience the elements as there is not AC. But I was ok without.

The hotel is old, and so everything is not neat and tidy, but especially the rooms in the main building are so interesting.

- K (6/5): Good location - The hotel is located near the seaside walk in the old part of the town. Although some buildings in the area collapsed in the 2010 earthquake, the atmosphere remains historic and appreciable. The hotel is also old, but in good conditions. I liked the calm artistic restaurant. In the room I stayed, there were several mosquitos as well as gaps between doors for more mosquitos to enter. When I asked for solution, the hotel sprayed insecticides. I found it effective. Thank you.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Lovely night at the historic Hotel Florita - The hotel florita is absolutely beautiful. I love how they have preserved the building and incorporated local artwork. The only drawback was not having A/C in my room, but I was aware of that going in and would still prefer to stay here than at a generic hotel that offered A/C. The staff were incredibly pleasant and helpful when I needed something. The cocktails were delicious and made to order - the best rum sour I've had while in Haiti. And breakfast the next morning was simple but delicious: strong coffee, freshly squeeze orange juice, ripe cut mango, homemade preserves, and hot crispy toast. The art district is beautiful and everything is in walking distance. I will definitely be staying here on my next visit to Jacmel.
- John (10/5): Cute historical building; great ambiance - There is not a lot going on in Jacmel unless there is a festival or other events in town. Nonetheless, there are a lots of nice little parts shops and galleries, as well as a very pleasant waterfront Boulevard. The hotel is a bit of a hang out for travelers – lots of interesting people and accommodating staff.
- Ange (10/5): Heritage hotel right in town - I love old buildings with character so of course I love the Hotel Florita. The rooms have fans, mosquito nets and the shower has hot water. The hotel is located on Rue du Commercial right in the middle of town with a nice bar & restaurant, art gallery, cafe next door, ATM around the corner. The staff are all helpful. I organised a trip to beautiful Bassin Bleu & also arranged a t/f from PAP.
- Natasha (10/5): Florita is a Daydream - From the wonderful staff to the wonderful location, staying at the beautiful Hotel Florita is like living in a Graham Greene novel come to life, complete with strong coffee and wonderful characters. I cannot wait to return. It is within easy walking distance to everything and the employees can assist you with whatever you desire.

- Janet (8/5): Love the Florita - A friend and I spent two nights at the Florita in early August. We've both spent time in Haiti but had never visited Jacmel and had never really been "tourists." We enjoyed it immensely. The hotel is an older building, and the architecture is amazing. The room was small, but comfortable; the only thing it needed to make it perfect was another small chair . . . the mosquito nets on the beds made it difficult to sit on them. The balcony was great! We ate in the hotel's restaurant both mornings, and the breakfast was good -- bread, peanut butter, preserves, fruit, juice, and wonderful coffee. We also ate dinner there one night and the food was excellent -- a little more expensive than some of the local cafes, but well worth the price (and much less expensive than a comparable meal would cost in the states). The hotel staff was very helpful -- the arranged transportation to Bassin Bleu for us -- and answered any questions we had about the neighborhood and the city in general. We had been advised to stay in a more modern hotel in a different part of town, but I am very glad we stayed at the Florita. I look forward to going back!
- Daniel (6/5): 3 belle journées a Jacmel - Très belle maison qui date de l'époque Colonial, construite en 1888, avec tout son cachet. Le bar qui servait d'entrepôt pour le café et le cacao,a été aménagé pour vous faire passé de bon moment. Bâtie sur trois étages. Apres le séisme de Janvier 2010 la maison a perdu son balcon au second étage ce qui a fait place a un magnifique jardin. pas de plage au alentour, 30 minute sans trafique pas vraiment belle beaucoup d'algue. Le personnelles ainsi que le patron sont courtois souriant et a votre dispositions. N'as pas de téléviseur ni d'air climatisé dans les chambres, 2 ou 3 ventilateurs. les petit déjeuné sons inclus. L’hôtel a un guide demandé Mr Michel.

- Kelli (6/5): Good location in Jacmel - We chose Hotel Florita based on online reviews and historic appeal. This aspect of the hotel did not disappoint. The hotel is in the heart of the old section of Jacmel and we were able to walk around the historic section easily and without any problems. Hotel Florita was built is 1888 and much of it is original. That alone makes it an interesting place to stay. The room was clean and the beds were moderately comfortable. NOTE: however they have a TON of mosquitoes and we were feasted on at night. Bug spray is a must! A simple breakfast (fruit, bread, coffee and juice) was included and was plenty filling. There is no air-conditioning but fans are provided.
