Guest Reviews
- Ethan (10/5): -
- Lukas (9/5): - the owners are amazing and do really a lot to take care of the guests its quite far from the town and the lifts but that was well known before the booking, it just might get tough to get out of there after 90cm dump over night. Other than that the owners would do everything for their guest, really amazing services from them
- Takeshi (2/5): 次はないと思う。 - 対応は親切。 お風呂が狭い。
- SHU (10/5): - 很温馨,就算步行到赤仓温泉滑雪场也能接受,老板夫妻服务很好
- Hsin Pei (9/5): -
- Belinda (10/5): We loved our location, a short walk from the business of the town. - OUr hosts provided an authentic Japanese experience in the comfort of their very personalized traditional lodge. We chose the Japanese room and loved the tatami mats and big duvets.
- Daichi (4/5): -
- Clare (9/5): Overall good stay. No complaints! - The room was nice and the dining area was really nice. Tons of board games for us and our family really enjoyed it. Our room had extremely squeaky boards. So walking around would wake up my family. We were also concerned it would wake up the guests under us. The walk back from town is a hike, but not too bad for our family of 4. Going solo is a bit scary since the roads aren’t well lit. The husband is the driver and is extremely punctual. Not the friendliest but the wife is super super sweet so makes up for it.
- Jasmine (10/5): The loveliest hosts! - Wonderful hosts, so accommodating and helpful. great solid bunks with excellent screening. Nice toilets and bathrooms. Very small rooms
- Sawyer (9/5): Lovely couple working hard for their customers. -
- Adrian (8/5): -
- Benjamin (10/5): -
- Christopher J (10/5): The most authentic part of my Myoko Kogen trip! - This felt like the most authentic part of my trip to Myoko Kogen. Getting to stay with Shun and Takako felt like I was experiencing a part of Myoko before the massive ski tourism booms. Personable, cozy, and real.
With that being said Myoko isn't even that blown up or monetized yet; it's definitely on a cuff. Nothing really; I mean if I'm being picky; maybe better pillows or something like that but it honestly felt like I was staying at someone's parents ski house so if you're into cozy warm homey vibes then stay here.
- Peasley (10/5): - Everything. It was lovely to be just out the village in a quiet and very picturesque setting. The hosts were amazing and couldn't do enough for us. Very traditional and welcoming They provided a complimentary shuttle service to and from the slopes every day as well as collecting and dropping us off from the station. The breakfast was superb,, the rooms comfortable and well maintained. We will be going back definitely. Nothing
- Kengo (10/5): -
- Luke (10/5): Stress free & friendly - Lovely accommodation
Amazing staff, I accidentally left my head phones and our hosts graciously sent my headphones to my next accommodation in Japan.
Very good value for money

- Ning (10/5): Love the guesthouse vibe here! - Fantastic service from the owners! A very cute and cosy guesthouse vibe. Breakfast was divine every morning and there’s even an option to have dinner at the lodge too. Guests are shuttled to the nearest ski resort in the morning and then picked up in the afternoon. There is also a shuttle up into town at dinner time. My only gripe is that the dorms are a little squishy - there’s not much room if you have lots of luggage.
- Phuong (10/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): Friendly and cozy place to stay in Myoko. - Breakfast was nice. It was the mostly same thing every morning but they changed up the presentation which was a nice touch. It was walking distance from the ski resort but the hosts shuttled people every day. I knew when I booked that there was no kitchen access but it's always nice to have.
- Geeb (6/5): Good value v, lovely hosts would stay again - Breakfast was good but no choice. Hosts were great, very accommodating. An additional shower would be nice
- Jehan (8/5): -
- Sheyka (10/5): -
- Tetsuo (10/5): 心まであたたまる宿 - オーナーのご夫婦がとても丁寧で、親切にしていただきました。
食事も美味しかったです。 特にないです。
- Leopold (10/5): -
- Filippo (10/5): Feels like home - Beautiful house run by the sweetest couple that makes the stay feel like home. We tried to sleep on tatami/futon beds for the first time and it was a great experience. The couple cooks great food and we had both breakfast and dinner. At day, the husband drove us to the piste of our choice, which is just the nicest gesture. Would highly recommend this place! Nothing.
- Eileen Liou (10/5): - 老闆跟老闆娘都很親切,像爺爺奶奶一樣。
下次會再去住!!
- Macy (4/5): Disappointing -
- Dylan (9/5): Superb - Semi-close to the ski hill and downtown restaurant area. Owners were super warm and welcoming and plan on returning in the future!
- Jack (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mick (7/5): Good -
- Flynn (9/5): Good friendly place to stay if skiing or boarding. - Lovely staff, homely stay with clean facilities. Had the option to buy drinks and snacks as well as additional dinner or breakfast for a small cost. They also drop you to a ski resort of choice in the morning and pick you up in the afternoon offering discounted lift tickets. Curfew. They have an 11pm lockout curfew which was not advertised anywhere which if your planing to go out drinking could leave you in a jam (this should be advertised). And although you can get a lift into town or resorts at allotted times. If you need to walk up to the town it is a 25min uphill walk. Walking back is fine however
- David (10/5): Excellent, thank you! - Friendly and helpful owners. Easy drop off and pick up to ski resorts! Dorm mattresses were a bit thin
- Paul (8/5): Very good -
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional - Shun & Takako were very accomodating hosts. You will struggle to find a more friendly, down to earth pair in Japan! They run a shuttle service every day to all Myoko resorts (Sugi, Kanko, Akakura), and do their utmost to ensure your comfort. Will definitely be back :)
- Timothy (8/5): Very good - Great option if you are looking to stay in Myoko. What really makes the place is the hosts!
- Bob (7/5): Good - Great hospitality and care shown towards guests
- Abraham (10/5): Lovely wholesome stay - The hosts made this a very pleasant experience. A traditional feel in a snow town that seems to be slowly becoming westernised. The hosts drove us into town and back each day, and had snacks plus drinks for cheap at the front desk.
- Erin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (8/5): Very good - The hosts are next level onto it and communicate well with guests, transferring people between skifields town runs for dinner and bus connections they go above and beyond . How noisy it could be the thiness of the walls
- Donna (5/5): Passable -
- John (7/5): I enjoyed it more as I met people. - The hosts are lovely. The room was much smaller than it appeared in photos. On arrival the room had 4 out of 5 beds full. This was way too crowded for the space and others in the room were very noisy and the room smelt very bad due to them. Things improved when two left.
The drying room is a but cluttered.
Very good service running people around in the van and very helpful hosts. As above. Please see that. Thanks. ...............................................................
- Joel (10/5): Comfy bed, warm, close to town, amazing service - Cutest little Japanese old couple in the world Couldn’t stay longer
- Dominic (10/5): Exceptional -
- Courtney (10/5): A very homey, warm stay hosted by a lovely couple who go above and beyond for all guests - The hosts were lovely and so accommodating.
- Dan (10/5): Exceptional - Breakfast
The owners are great very friendly and helpful
Nice place to stay
- King (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nesje (10/5): Exceptional - The hospitality and kindness. Pickup at trainstation and shuttle to resorts. Great service and support with sending luggage to airport. Been there many times now and cant wait for next stay.
- Walter (9/5): Superb - On-site meals were delicious and the hosts were really helpful and fun to talk to. House was clean and loaded with history. Shuttles to nearby resorts was wonderful and really appreciated!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was awesome!!!
- Chs (9/5): A warm and welcoming family hotel and great base for winter sport activity - A superb homestay in a well heated and hospitable family hotel with experienced and friendly hosts Mont Cervin doesn't disappoint in any aspect, even the off-center location is part of its charm
- Bella (10/5): Exceptional -
- Evan (9/5): Charming and excellent value. - The hosts are lovely and provide expert assistance when required.
The breakfast was great too. The Onsen room was a little dated but served the purpose.
It is a fair walk from the resort but the host was willing to drive us up the hill when required.
- Jessica (8/5): Lovely locally run ryokan! - Lovely hosts, couldn’t have made us feel more welcome despite such a last minute booking!! Our room was great, breakfast was delicious and they seem to offer great services in terms of mountain shuttles etc. we only stayed one night and had a vehicle, but would absolutely stay again!! Location without a car of your own could be tricky, but everything else seemed great!
- Jessica (9/5): Superb - Wonderful Hosts, Shun and Takako!
Shun and Takako were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The meals they prepared were delicious and made us feel right at home. Shun kindly picked us up from the train station when we arrived and also dropped us back on our last day. In addition, they took us to the ski hire shop and provided daily transportation to and from the mountain, making our time on the slopes hassle free. They even offered a drop-off service each night on the main street for dinner, which was a thoughtful touch. The accommodation was cosy and comfortable – a perfect base for our ski trip.
- Walter (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, cozy place and amazing hosts. They are very kind and will do their best to accomodate whatever you need.
- Kristina (10/5): Mont Cervin up the goods - This place was perfect for traveling on a budget. The owners bent over backwards to accommodate all their guests. I will definitely come again.
Be sure to get their breakfast in the morning!!! They may not be next door to an onsen, but their tub is a good second runner up for a tired person at the end of a long day of snow play.
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional -
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Loica (8/5): Very good -
- Rossi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Luke (8/5): Definitely recommend - Beautiful Japanese couple looking after you. They drive you to the mountains every morning for skiing and take you to dinner each night!
- Steven (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rianna (10/5): Exceptional - The hosts were absolutely wonderful! As a solo traveller this is definitely the best, home-away-from-home feeling accommodation I've stayed in on my trip thus far. Shun ferried us up to the slopes each day, and up again for dinner. Truly genuine, wonderful people who care about their guests and go above and beyond. I sent my skis here via Yamato Black Cat and they were happy to hold them for me until I arrived, and forwarded them to my next accommodation for me. Beds were comfortable, rooms were clean and breakfast was hearty and filling. Thank you for having me! I hope to be back in the future when there is a bit more snow 😊❄️
- Yee (10/5): Warm and welcoming hosts with comfortable accommodation and traditional Japanese bathrooms. - The breakfast was served mainly western style but it was still delicious and served its purpose. The hosts were attentive and ensured we had everything that we needed for a comfortable stay. This included pick ups and drop offs to the various resorts and when you check in they detail the services they provide. Whilst the location isn't central in town, it makes for a much quieter accommodation which is perfect. You get dropped off for dinner in town at no extra cost and the walk back is pleasant at night as it's all downhill.
In the morning you inform the hosts which mountain you intend to go to and they'll accommodate you with a drop off. Much more convenient than if you were staying in town!
- Luke (9/5): Very comfortable and I loved getting to know Shun and Takako. - Mont Cervin is a fantastic place to stay. It is an old school Ryokan style lodge with shared bathrooms and showers, both of which allow for individual privacy. My wife and I elected to stay in a Japanese style room with rice mat floors and futons on the floor. I recommend this type of room for a Ryokan like this. The facilities are clean, warm and inviting. What really sets Mont Cervin apart is the owners. Shun and Takako are wonderful people who bend over backwards for their guests. Shun would drive us to the ski hill in the mornings and to town at 6:00pm every evening do get dinner. They also provide a lovely breakfast. We happened to be there during the traditional Japanese "New Years" celebration which is the last day of winter. Shun and Takako held a lively celebration for the guests. It was soooo fun! I do not have any complaints. When you lodge at a place like this, you know you are signing up for small bedrooms and shared bathrooms. That is the way of things at the very economically priced Ryokans in Japan. It is great.
- Jodi (10/5): Very pleasant and warm. - The owners are so friendly and helpful. They make the stay easy and pleasant. Shared bathroom facilities.
- Noah (10/5): It was amazing! The owners made us feel so at home and treated us like family. Accomodation wise it was perfect for our - It had a real homely feel about it, the owners take you in like family and are so keen to go that extra mile to help you out. The facilities were always impeccable and the room was lovely. The house was only a short walk away from the centre of town and the 6pm shuttle bus drop off made it even better. That I couldn’t stay forever.
- Mulyono (10/5): Such a great time at Mont Cervin. Excellent place to stay in Myoko - Great service and comfortable home feeling from the staff. Prompt and helpful with all matters and concerns
- Emily (10/5): Stay Here!!! - Spent a winter wonderland of a week at Mont Cervin and can't recommend it highly enough.
15min walk from town but you never have to do the uphill yourself because the wonderful owners will shuttle you to and from the ski fields. At night they'll shuttle you up to the main strip for dinner and it's an easy walk back!
I recommend adding on the brekky option, saves a lot of hassle and is delicious every morning. Plus it's a nice time eating with everyone else saying there.
The big highlight of this accom is the lovely couple who run the place. They'll help you make bookings, order pizza. The free shuttle to the slopes as above. And just genuinely lovely people.
A big dry room for your ski gear, a huge hot bath (think onsen temps) to soothe your war wounds from the mountain and very comfortable beds.
10/10, stay here. We'll definitely be back!
- Felicity (9/5): Superb -

- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sophie (9/5): Superb - Exceptional hosts! Thank you for your hospitality. Very friendly and accommodating hosts.
- Steven (10/5): Great Guest House, knowledgeable people fo the area. Fantastic breakfast. - The people running Mont Cervin were very friendly, and the breakfast was fantastic. Nothing really, they made us feel very welcome in there guest house.
- Yusuf (9/5): A really charming house and lovely hosts. Homely and comfy, with everything you could need. -
- Chs (8/5): A warm stay in Winter Wonderland, just 3.5 hours away from Tokyo. - A warm, inviting and comfortable family run hotel. Located away from the busy Akakura main street, but a free shuttle uphill is provided daily to town and the nearby ski-lifts, while the pleasant downhill walking trips at night are a magical experience. With wonderful snowfall, there is little to dislike about a stay in beautiful Mont Cervin.
- Matthew (10/5): My aunt and my brother and I had a WONDERFUL time in Myoko because of Shunichi and Takako. They really made us feel righ - It was a very cozy property that felt more like a home than a hotel or guest house. The private hot bath after a long day of skiing was priceless too.
- William (9/5): Good skiing, great service, amazing bath - The service from the owners was absolutely amazing The house was a bit to old style for my taste
- Salome (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (9/5): Superb - Lovely Japanese couple .shun so helpful 11pm.kerfew distance down hill at night
- Joel (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay
Shun and Takako make you feel right at home. Mont Cervin is clean, tidy and organised. They offer to drive you to nearby ski resorts each morning and will book a cab for any hard to reach resorts. Breakfast is delicious and their dinners were some of the best food we ate in Japan. We loved staying here and will be back!
- Timmozee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Derek (9/5): Superb - Great couple very helpful and good transfers. Traditional Japanese. 11pm.cerfew and long walk down hill stops you goin' to hard at night so can go hard next day
- Kostachek (10/5): As an American who travels frequently I can say this was some of the best hosts I’ve ever dealt with. They care so much - As an American who travels frequently I can say this was some of the best hosts I’ve ever dealt with. They care so much that you have a good stay. It was so convenient, breakfast and dinner was provided as was a shuttle to and from the resorts. Six stars!
- Robert (9/5): Charming and friendly stay, great for ski trip. - Shun and Takako were the kindest and most gracious hosts. Going out of their way to help us ski right up until our last minute of time in Myoko Kogen. Breakfast was always great and love the rides to the ski hill and back every day ! The beds were pretty hard, tough after hard skiing
- Chris (8/5): Great place. The owners are very kind and helpful. -
- Tommi (10/5): Exceptional - Really cozy place, good vibes, the owners were really helpful and super nice.
- Dakota (10/5): amazing hosts in an amazing location. I’ll definitely be back! - Great location 5 minutes drive away from the main town.
- Bruce (10/5): Comfortable and friendly. - The owners were very friendly. The room was comfortable and food was great. We had a hire car but if we had known the owner provided shuttles so effectively then we would not have hired one. There is a drying area for boots where you could also dry clothes if needed but preferred to do this in our room.
- Bruce (9/5): Comfortable stay in lodge run by helpful friendly Japanese. - The rooms are comfortable, the food is delicious and the staff are extremely helpful and friendly.
One night we celebrated the setsuban tradition with the owners and other guests. Needs a dedicated drying room for boots and ski clothes or more facility for this in the bed rooms.
- Steven (8/5): Hospitable staff, good value - The staff are great, they offer a shuttle service to and from the sky area and we're incredibly helpful when I left something there. Good value, traditional Japanese guest house The Onsen was a bit small for my taste
- タツヤ (10/5): - 感染対策もしっかりされていて安心して泊まれました。
- Mahi (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bianca (10/5): wonderful homely stay, kind hosts, easy and relaxing stay - lovely hosts
daily bus transfers to the ski slopes and into town
cosy home feeling
- Goro (8/5): - Really luck for choosing this property, the morning of the check out it was supposed to snow so the owner really save my trip by recommending me to park my car on a uphill part of the village so i couldn't get stock. In the morning he took me there driving a 4x4. Felt safe and he really look after me. Definitely recommend this place!
- satsuki (8/5): 気さくなオーナーで安心出来るペンション - アットホームな雰囲気で旅の緊張が取れました。外国人利用者が多かったのですがオーナーの人の良さで楽しく過ごせました。
- Verified traveler (10/5): Good place - Great place to stay if you are looking to ski every day. Simple facilities, lovely hosts, they will drive you in to town for dinner each day.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is a pension run with a lot of heart. The owners are lovely people who do their best to serve each guest and make sure they have an enjoyable stay. I would highly recommend this lodge as a base to explore Myoko. You would be very well looked after!
