- Andy Shockett (10/5): Overnight stay and would recommend - From checking in at reception I was made to feel very welcome and had my room upgraded from a single to double. The room was very clean and comfortable. I didn't use the pool or have breakfast as i was leaving early, but I was made a bacon sandwich to take on my journey, which was a bonus. The bar in the hotel was very clean and comfy. The en suite was clean but very small. Nothing can be done and no real issue.

- Aaron Paul (9/5): Relaxing and comfortable stay - I found The Wight a wonderful quiet place to stay. It was very clean and tidy as you'd expect to see when staying somewhere. The room were perfect for my stay with the on suite shower room. I'm quite protective of my car and found the car park a very safe place to leave it there whilst walking to the town and seafront. I can honestly say, i cant find fault with The Wight in any way.

The bathrooms had a chronic water issue, not mentioned in Booking.com and as a result, ended up not being able to shower properly. The pool and hot tub was pretty dirty. Not even space for 2 adults in the hot tub. In addition, there were no changing room facilities. There were sinks inside the bedroom, which felt horrible. Though we had booked rooms next to each other on the same floor, we were given rooms on different floors. There waa just one bedsit for two beds, making it very inconvenient to use.

- Alan (10/5): A really relaxing and pleasant break. No problems. - We enjoyed our break. The hotel was lovely and warm on arrival even though it was cold outside. Room was spotlessly clean, breakfast was plentiful and nicely served. The swimming pool was a lovely bonus and really warm. The parking was great and the closeness of buses meant that we never needed to use the car for the duration. This was a very positive experience.Thank you. Totally satisfied.

Hotel has all the facilities you need for a comfortable stay it was lovely and clean and warm. In addition the pool, steam room and jaczzi (which were lovely and warm) were a bonus. The hotel is in a brilliant location for the beach. I enjoyed some lovely walks to Shanklin and up Culver Down which was fantastic. I would highly recommend this hotel. Not applicable

- Terry (8/5): We had a great time in Sandown and the staff made it memorable - The location was perfect for us just far enough from Sandown front with the restaurants a short walk from the hotel Also secure storage for our bikes was a nice surprise All the lady staff members were exceptional going above and beyond with assistance directions and information about the hotel and general Sandown questions answered without any issue whatsoever Reception bar and breakfast lady representatives were a credit to the Wight Overall the property fulfilled our requirements and was clean functional with good food However although in these austere times it may be hard to give the hotel a freshen up as it is dated Additionally the pool area does need a good overhaul as the shower to use before swimming was a dribble buttons on the jacuzzi were loose missing and generally misleading and foliage growing through the roof which could give rise to debris failing into the pool/ jacuzzi

- Vanessa (4/5): - The Wight was easy to find, easily accessible, clean, and the staff were friendly. It had an old-fashioned air to it, which I liked. The room was clean, and I had booked a small double, which was all I needed space wise. The bed was comfortable, but I was glad that I had booked a double bed. I like that I could buy a drink from the bar and take it back to my room. The information that is sent out once you have booked the room, I felt the email had a very passive-aggressive manner about it. I was feeling nervous on arrival as to what I was coming to. Lots of red ink with dont expect this or that, etc. Part of the information was saying that if you booked a smaller room (for a cheaper price), to expect that the bathroom would be smaller. I think perhaps that if you are sending out the email, you should say how much smaller it is. I was very surprised to see it, especially with the sliding door into the bedroom. You wouldn't want to come as a couple to stay in that room. Your loo roll is situated (in the only place it could be) behind you, making access to it a little awkward. The facilities provided in the room were adequate. Perhaps provide a half kettle so that it can fit in the sink to access water for the coffee. When half asleep it took a few mins to work out the water needed to be put in the mug then the kettle. The cold tap in the sink started off with warm water and took a min to run cold for teeth cleaning, etc. The shower was a little disappointing as it took 4 mins for the hot water to run through, and because the head is so high up and did not swivel, after having a freezing blast, to turn it on to leave it running to warm up, the water shot out of the shower doors, unless you wanted to stand in the cold till it warmed up. Breakfast was ok. The first day I had a full English, which was really adequate. I was surprised to be told that my toast (fairly well done, if not a little burnt) came first as they would have to cook my egg from fresh. I would have assumed that would always be the case. I had asked for a very small amount of beans and was told I wouldn't be given a lot anyway. When it came, there were quite a lot of beans, and my hash brown was sitting in them, and they were spreading over the rest of my food.

The bathroom had a bath and toilet in it, the sink was actually in the bedroom! As I was travelling alone this was ok, but it would not have been appropriate if I had been with others. There was no mention of this arrangement in the hotel details.

High price for the condition of the hotel.
- John (10/5): Absolutely wonderful - Absolutely superb place, wonderful staff, very clean, close to all amenities, couldn’t fault it. Wonderful breakfast too great choice of food. Not being able to walk your dog on the grass in the garden
- Angela Mary jean (5/5): The dining room staff were excellent and cheerful and helpful, and the meals we're excellent - Excellent Water pressure, we paid £40 extra for a bath, but the water was a trickle, and took so long to get hardly enough water to bath in, my husband said he would use my water because it would take too long. Plus the windows didn't close together, and it was windy and raining, so the water came in, and it was cold where the wind was blowing through the gaps, we had to put tissues all round the gaps, also there was no heating on that night, not untill the morning
- Barrie (10/5): The Wight Holiday - Our stay at the Wight Hotel in Sandown was absolutely brilliant. Full Monty breakfast was first class. The staff were great - nothing was too much trouble for them; so friendly and helpful. we were made to feel very welcome and soon made ourselves at home enjoying the friendly Wight atmosphere and all the services which were available. some great nights in the bar with the entertainment. The hotel is located close to all the amenities and bus stops. what more could you want for a great holiday in a great hotel.

- Catherine (10/5): A comfortable and relaxing mini holiday - The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms have everything one needs. Breakfast was served immediately and was very good and the staff were quick to made any adjustments to orders.( e.g. I like hot milk with my coffee!,) Parking was never a problem as there is a large, safe car park. Oh, there is a vast selection of books to borrow, always a bonus.

- Kassa (7/5): It was overall ok - The swimming pool and game room We were asked to put £5 deposit to take table tennis rackets which was inconvenient. They should not ask for deposit to play tennis
- Brady (9/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our week on the island, and much of this was due to everyone at The Wight. - Staff are very friendly and helpful. Excellent choice of breakfast menu and beautifully cooked. It was lovely to have a swimming pool available as well as pool, snooker and table tennis on site. The bathroom was a bit snug, though we had been made aware that in certain rooms this is the case.
- Meekat (1/5): It was a nightmare - Nothing just the breakfast Terrible hotel – only the breakfast was decent. We paid £680 for 4 nights and got a tiny, filthy room with mould, a broken flush, and even blood-stained sheets on arrival. No apology, rude staff when my baby was unwell, and we left covered in rashes from mosquitos/bed bugs. Disgusting and not worth the money – avoid at all costs.

Times for breakfast, and bar, Friday nights entertainment very unique and very enjoyable. The pillows were fab. Our room.was clean but basic it needs updating, bed was uncomfortable felt springs, not good for someone with osteoarthritis and awaiting a hip replacement, light over bed next to the bathroom would not go off, small window wouldn't open, sliding door very difficult to slide, chairs very uncomfortable, TV in wrong place,

- Annmarie (9/5): A friendly hotel and perfect location to the beach in Sandown. - Loved the fact that there was a pool. The location was brilliant and the breakfast was delicious. All the staff were lovely. I think the decor is a little bit dated but it kind of added to the charm.

- Ian (8/5): - Excellent car park especially as hotel 200 yds from beach. Also close to High St , local eaterires & bus stops. I.O.W.buses are EXCELLENT. Lovely breakfast. Note there is no evening meal, but it didn't bother me. Hotel provides 10% discount vouchers for 4 local eateries.
- Lee (10/5): - For all the important stuff: staff knowledge, information given when checking in (in regards to local services etc), peace etc. The Wight was exactly what I needed. I was allowed to check in early with no hassle/extra fees. The staff were always friendly and helpful if I needed anything, but the welcome book provided so much information that I rarely needed to ask questions.

- Kevin (1/5): Dissapointing!!!!! - Staff were good as was the breakfast. We checked out early because we were very unhappy. We reported 3 times that the toilet did not flush and were given excuses not a room change. The AA 4star rating on this property was very misleading. The property is dated and facilities well worn. We did not have the confidence to use the pool etc. Sandown promanard was littered with derelict properties and the town very down beat. Would not recomned it to anyone.

- Laureen (8/5): - Great location, clean, great pool, great breakfast. Friendly staff. Entertainer could be better. Maybe tribute nights or a disco to dance on the dance floor. The room needs a mini fridge to keep drinks cold in hot weather.

Decor of hotel needs modernising, too much dark wood. Pool and jacuzzi were used by schools at the times I would like to have used them.
- manmohan (7/5): Not ideal will not recommend if with family and want a peaceful relax stay - Good staff eager to help Too much noisy and old style building which I did not notice until I reached the property meant , if the guest don’t behave or are noisy you will not have a good night sleep all you want during a holiday . If you get a ground floor room , than good luck as if I had guest over my room waking and don’t know what they were doing full night I could hardly sleep .

Privacy respected .The pool was superb with the use of Sauna and steamer, nice to have these facilities .Nicely secured parking .Overall excellent stay , and good location. The beach is just 5min walk , and you can enjoy a lovely stroll to the nearest town Shanklin within 20min. Perfect for us
