- SheharaJayakody (2/5): From Luxury to Letdown: Anantaya Chilaw’s Shocking Decline!! - Currently on a visit at Anantaya Chilaw with a group of 9 (Rooms 403, 404, 414, 415) and highly disappointed at the huge fall in standards. We feel completely ripped off-This hotel has a lot of audacity to charge essentially 5 Star Prices for a 2 Star experience! The hotel management seem to be running such a once grand resort into the ground. I invite the GM to eat at his own buffet and tell the customers to their face that they are getting their money’s worth.
The buffet spread was sad and pitiful for a hotel of this size and price point, very very limited, poor spread of seafood, curries and meat. The head chef is clearly incapable of planning a proper spread and maintaining basic kitchen standards. some chefs had worse uniform cleanliness than our vehicle garage staff. On a more disgusting note, most of the new plates placed at the buffet were not properly washed and were grimy or had visible pieces on them. We brought this to the attention of the staff as well because we cannot even accept this at a roadside boutique much less a so called luxury resort, but they didn’t seem to care. Maybe it’s just the usual standard at the present Anantaya. Some of our party had stomach upsets from the restaurant food and it’s not surprising given the terrible standards at the restaurant.
The room interiors are badly lit, poorly maintained and kettle and even room phone did not work in some rooms. All the mini fridges had been removed from our rooms (even basic motels provide this facility nowadays) . There were no hairdryers except in 1 of the 4 rooms and we were informed by Reception that the hotel did not have any hairdryers to provide. We were also astounded when the housekeeping team informed us that the entire ‘’resort’’ was out of stock on 1L bottles so they had replaced 1L bottles with the same number of small 500ml bottles of water, after we requested for at least more 500ml bottles to make up the overall qty the staff promised to provide water but never did so we had to go out and get our own water for our basic necessity. What kind of luxury resort runs out of water bottles?
Only the reception staff were friendly and courteous and everything else was a terrible experience. It’s very sad that such an originally well built resort with great facilities and location is in this sorry condition and the owners should consider handing over the management to an experienced operator like Jetwing or Cinnamon, because this gross incompetence by the current management reflects very badly on the image of the entire FindMyFare group (the new ownership)!
The Anantaya website asks customers to ‘’Step into a world where infinite pleasures await’’ but unfortunately the only infinite pleasure for all of us will be not having to spend more time at this hotel!
- 147indikar (8/5): Great entertainment and excellent service!! - We enjoyed the stay very much. Special thanks to Mr. Viraj. He made our trip truly enjoyable. He entertained us with fun sports activities and showed great hospitality throughout our stay. . A very friendly and dedicated staff member. Also thanks to the staff member Tharushi for being friendly and made sure we had a great stay at the hotel. Highly appreciated!
- Prasadpathirana (4/5): Inadequate staff and facilities Reception is confused and confusing guests. It takes ages to get things sorted out. - Poorly organized.Inadequate staff and facilities.
It takes ages to get the rooms and baggage s sorted out.
Cleanliness and service is horrible in the restaurant due to inadequate staff and fasciitis.Restaurant is full of flies.Common washrooms are worse than public toilets in bus stations. There are no buggies to travel to rooms that are far away from reception. There are no elevators .When you check in you have to walk 500m and climb 3 storied buildings to wait another 2hrs to get the baggage by DIMO batta lorry.
Hotel needs professional staff and renovations.I have been to this hotel 10yrs ago. Those days it was very nice.
- senali_sen20 (2/5): very Bad hotel - We had an extremely bad experience at Anantaya Resort & Spa, Chilaw, especially considering it was Christmas Day, which we expected to be special.
The food was very poor – tasteless, limited options, and absolutely not up to the standard of a resort that claims to be luxury. For a festive day like Christmas, the food was a complete letdown and felt careless and rushed.
What made the situation even worse was that the hotel was doing maintenance work during Christmas Day. There was noise, disturbance, and an overall unpleasant atmosphere. It is completely unacceptable to carry out maintenance when guests are paying premium rates for a peaceful holiday stay, especially on such an important day.
The experience felt unplanned, unprofessional, and disappointing. Christmas should be about relaxation and enjoyment, but instead, it was frustrating and stressful. This resort failed badly in delivering even basic expectations.
Definitely not worth the money, and I would not recommend Anantaya Chilaw to anyone looking for a relaxing or festive getaway.
- banchanad (10/5): Perfect Company Staff Outing at Anantaya - We visited Anantaya Resort & Spa, Chilaw for a full-day outing with the staff of New Jayasekara Auto Motors (Pvt) Ltd company ,and it was an excellent experience from start to finish. Everything was well organized and ran smoothly.
A special appreciation goes to Mr. Dharmasiri, who beautifully organized the entire event, and Mr. Viraj, who handled the coordination and entertainment activities. We also want to thank DJ Ashan for the great music and lively atmosphere.
The hotel staff were friendly and supportive throughout. The welcome drink, buffet, and overall food quality were very good and tasty. The rooms were comfortable, and we truly enjoyed every part of the day.
Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and we look forward to visiting again.
- 606sidneye (10/5): Fabulous Experience - Excellent and superb service! The warm welcome and the friendliness of the staff were truly outstanding. The cleanliness of the hotel is highly commendable. I also appreciated the lovely location, beautiful décor, charming atmosphere, and the sense of freedom throughout the property. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and this is definitely a place I would love to visit again.
- Dhanajaya123 (10/5): Good Experience - Overall really good experience . We had a good OBT session with the Animator Mr.Viraj. it was a very fruitful session . Overall hospitality also good and staff also very friendly
- 705fmf (8/5): Such and wonderful experience and fun - We went to Anantaya Resort from our office, and we had such an amazing time! The view was absolutely beautiful, the rooms were super comfortable, and everything was just perfect. A special shout-out to Viraj, the Anantaya Hotel Animator, who made our day even more fun with the games and activities he organized. Thanks to him, we enjoyed way more than we expected and had an unforgettable experience! 💫
- jeromi2025 (8/5): - - Really had some good times with my friends at Anathaya resort.
Well maintained environment and friendly people.
Rooms were really clean.
A beautiful place to relax with you family, team members or solo as well
Special thanks to the animator who conducted really good games.
Animator was really friendly and a calm person who explained the rules of the games in simple terms…Really good person hope he will do better in his stay
Highly recommend to the animator.
- tuanimtiyask (8/5): Feedback for Viraj - Viraj (Animator) did a great job in conducting the games for the team. They had great fun and brought the people together..
- _M6676LD (10/5): October vacation - A perfect getaway for those seeking peace and quiet. The hotel is far from the city, and in October weekdays it was almost empty. Special thanks to our guide Viraj for his great company and entertainment! The beach is excellent and the staff is very friendly. Highly recommended for a secluded retreat. You can take a one-day transfer to touristic places from the hotel.
- 237asangab (2/5): Worst experience ever - Stayed: 24th–26th (Premium Room)
Our family weekend stay at Ananthaya Holiday Resort & Spa was unfortunately far below expectations. While the welcome at the main gate was warm and professional, the experience quickly declined. There was no assistance with luggage upon arrival, and accessibility is extremely limited — especially for elderly guests. Thankfully, a very kind and attentive reception lady helped relocate our room closer, which we truly appreciated.
However, we encountered several serious issues. The walkway to the room had a strong, unpleasant odor, likely from the lagoon area. The room initially had no locker, and it took until evening to receive one. Much more concerning were the cleanliness and hygiene problems: we found dead and live cockroaches in the bathroom, and when we switched on the Jacuzzi, dead cockroaches and ants came out of the jets.
The buffet was the biggest disappointment — extremely limited variety, poor food quality, and unhygienic conditions. We even discovered dead flies in the cutlery tray and had to request staff to clean it. Unfortunately, we developed upset stomachs after the meals and decided to check out early, skipping breakfast and lunch on the second day.
While the reception lady and gate staff were excellent, the overall standards of cleanliness, food safety, and maintenance were far below what is expected from a hotel marketed as a star-class property.
“Ananthaya” means Infinity, but sadly, this resort feels infinitely far from meeting true star-class hospitality.
Until major improvements are made, I cannot recommend this hotel.
- Thishdilhara (8/5): Enjoyed the stay and overall experience was great! - Overall experience was really good & service was exceptional.
Buffet spread needs improvement and was very low number of items.
- 154sujithm (10/5): Amazing Staff, Best Hospitality and Superb Property - I stayed at Anantaya Resort and Spa for a night on 13th Oct 2025 enroute to Anuradhapura from Colombo. I booked 2 sea facing rooms for 4 adults which included my wife and in-laws. The best part of our stay at Anataya was the staff's hospitality. There were several occasions where the staff went above and beyond their call of duty to make our stay pleasant. Firstly, the staff readily agreed to change our allocated room from the ground floor to first floor. Ruchit was awesome. Such a great guy, always smiling and willing to help! Secondly, the girls at the reception were very helpful to exchange some high value lkr notes to lower values (5000 lkr to denominations of 20, 100, 500 and 1000). Lastly but certainly not the least, Nilmini the Restaurant supervisor was a God sent Angel. She went to the extreme to ensure we had a good meal. She found we were eating very light dinner, enquired if everything was ok, ensured we had the best breakfast the following day by customizing the entire breakfast just for us. Almost all of the food offered on the menu was customized to our liking. If she wasnt there, our stay wouldnt have felt this good. Please keep Nilmini happy Anantaya. She is an Angel!
- ayos_traveldiary (10/5): Stay at Anantaya resort Chilaw - My wife and I recently stayed in a suite at Anantaya Resort & Spa, Chilaw, and it was an absolutely wonderful experience from start to finish.
The view from our suite was breathtaking — overlooking the calm lagoon and lush surroundings The staff were friendly and attentive, always greeting us with genuine smiles and making sure every need was met.
The food / buffet was excellent
Overall it’s a great stay to experience for somebody who is searching for a resort type stay
- sheharaz2024 (2/5): Worst Experience Ever at Anantaya Resorts, Chilaw – Extremely - Worst Experience Ever at Anantaya Resorts, Chilaw – Extremely DisappointingWorst Experience Ever at Anantaya Resorts, Chilaw – Extremely Disappointing
Traveled all the way from Colombo expecting a peaceful and luxurious getaway, but sadly, Anantaya Resorts in Chilaw turned out to be a complete letdown.
First off, the food was absolutely bland and tasteless — definitely not worth the price you're paying. For a resort of this category, the culinary standards were shockingly poor.
What made things worse was the lack of basic cleanliness. The condition of the room and common areas was absurd — far from what you'd expect from a so-called "luxury" resort. Hygiene seemed to be a low priority across the board.
Overall, this stay ruined the whole getaway experience. With high expectations and a long drive, I was left frustrated and disappointed. Definitely not recommended — there are far better options in Sri Lanka for the same (or even less) price.

- AndreaH744 (8/5): Beachside resort - Staff very friendly and look after you well.
Public facilities very nice clean and comfortable
Luxury room opening to pool and beach view. Beach not really suitable for swimming and lots of rubbish at edge of water. Some items eg blinds in need of replacement and my room lock was missing from external door.. could not lock it when I went pool side
A bit isolated if you want ‘city’ life with shops in walking distance.
- dasunj (2/5): Disappointed with the experience! - Disappointed with the Experience – Lost Item Not Recovered
I recently stayed at Anantaya Resort in Chilaw and, unfortunately, had a disappointing experience that I feel compelled to share. Upon checking out, I mistakenly left behind my Apple hands-free in the hotel room. I realized this shortly after leaving and immediately contacted the hotel, assuming that the staff would locate the item and keep it safely for me to collect later.
However, to my dismay, the hotel management informed me that the item was not found. I'm certain I left it in the room, and I genuinely expected better accountability and assistance from a hotel of this caliber. From a reputed star-class hotel, one would expect a higher standard of integrity and guest service, especially in situations like this.
This experience has left me disappointed and has unfortunately affected my overall impression of the hotel. I hope the management takes incidents like this seriously and improves their lost-and-found protocols to ensure future guests don't face similar issues
- yfallonr (2/5): Not worthy of a 4 star. Terrible experience - This hotel does not deserve to be in the 4 star category at all. The hotel is run down not maintained at all. The entrance and sofas at the reception was full of dead flies and dirty when we entered and the staff was not at all bothered by it. The entrance of the hotel smells of dried fish. We were given what they call a suit which was absolutely awful,it was dirty and poorly maintained. the room phone didn't work and we had to use the stairs to get about as they do not have a lift. So for people who have medical issues this hotel is a definite no. They allowed a party at the hotel to light loud fire crackers which we managed to stop because of the complaints. The hotel dinner on A Saturday night was awful. It was the identical lunch buffet watered down by 50%. There was absolutely nothing. No action station. No variety. The lights were switched off and there were no service staff at the buffet. Absolutely disgusted with the way they handled everything. Ended up going to bed with just a soup. As I mentioned before please don't be fooled ,this hotel doesn't deserve to be in the 4 star category of hotels. We didn't know when to get out of this place. Poor maintenance and cleanliness. Ordered coffee and it came in cold and the coffee tastes horrid.
- OyOyOy (6/5): Disappointing - We spent a couple nights at the Anantaya in Chilaw at the end of our SriLankan tour as it’s a stop prior to going to the airport. It’s located about 15-20 mins out of town and there is absolutely nothing in walking distance. The town is very much local with little western influence but worth a visit and walk around for an hour or two.
We have stayed in 7 different hotels over two weeks and this is the least impressive. The approach is not very welcoming, it’s quite desolate and even the car park on entry looks like a desert. This was supposed to be a 5 star, but it’s somewhere between a 3 and 4 star. The place is fairly run down and dated throughout with an absolute need for some quality maintenance.
Having said that, the rooms are spacious, comfortable (apart from the wierd lumpy quilt) and mostly clean. Just daggy décor. The rooms also look out to the ocean with all rooms having a view. The beach is not really a swimmers beach as its very rough and sandy waters. The beach can be walked on but it has lots of rubbish, not sure why the don't invest a couple hours and clean it up ?
The complex is quite large, with two large swimming pools that look out to the beach. They were nice and warm the first day we were there but there was a constant wind and it cooled them on our second day. We had a ground floor room which was great as we could pretty much just walk out to the pool and sit on comfy chairs outside our room.
The restaurant is also large and lacks any real ambiance, but does the job and there was some ‘entertainment’ on the Saturday night. We had buffet meals as part of our package and there is a good range of local food/curries etc for breakfast and dinner. We didn’t think service or the food was that great, we almost had to chase down a waiter for service in the restaurant and had to call reception for pool towels.
Overall our stay was a bit of a downer after a fantastic couple weeks, but its price point and was a stopover place for the next run to the airport. Negambo would be a better stopover but the distance was too great for one days driving.
- ludovictX2923BE (10/5): Our stay at the hotel - Our stay at the hotel in Sri Lanka was truly exceptional. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and always willing to help with a smile. From the moment we arrived, we felt warmly welcomed and well cared for. A special mention goes to Viraj, the organizer, who went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly. His professionalism, local knowledge, and genuine kindness made a big difference in our experience. We highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable stay in Sri Lanka.
- giot580 (8/5): Beautiful Stay, Warm People, Slightly Worn Charm - We had a wonderful stay at Anantaya Resort and Spa in Chilaw. Overall, it’s a very good hotel, made truly special by its super friendly and helpful staff. A big shout-out to Viray, who went above and beyond by arranging our trip to Colombo—his service was exceptional. Also, a special thanks to the taxi driver (unfortunately, we forgot his name), who was not only very friendly but also engaging and informative throughout our journey.
We stayed on a half-board basis, and meals were mostly buffet-style. However, due to fewer guests during our visit, we occasionally had à la carte service, which was a nice touch. The food quality was good and offered a diverse selection of tastes.
The pool area is nice, but it could use some maintenance. Our room was spacious, featuring a separate living area and bedroom (with a divider), and a large bathroom with both a shower and a big bathtub. While the room layout and size suggest that this was once a luxury property, it’s clear that some renovation is needed to restore its former glory and maintain its upscale status.
Lastly, the location is a bit remote—about 8km from Chilaw town—so you’ll need transportation to get around. That said, we didn’t mind the distance and actually found it quite peaceful.
In summary, Anantaya Resort and Spa offers a relaxing and enjoyable experience, made memorable by its amazing staff and generous hospitality. With a bit of refurbishment, it could truly shine again as a top luxury destination.
- Coastal06028456242 (10/5): Little slice of paradise - Stayed here at the end of a tour to wind down and relax. This place is amazing, away from the hustle and bustle set on a peninsula by the waters edge. have never had such a large room with sea views and very large swimming pools. Everything was positive, housekeeping, food and interaction with staff was great and they smile when talking to you making for a more pleasant stay. House keeping coming back in the evening checking everything ok was a nice touch. Viraj the activities manager went out of his way taking me to the village next to the resort to see the fish market and I enjoyed the games of pool with him and other staff. All in all a great place to stay.
- tiyanadayanthiea (10/5): Home away from home - Excellent place to relax with the family. Super buffet spread, home away from home.. comfort to the maximum. Two pools and the beach front.. excellent bar and menu. 10 minutes to the town if required. Staff are super friendly and attentive.
- majnz (8/5): great hotel with one major flaw (IMO) - Really loved our stay here. We were blown away when we saw our room. A lovely sea view with a balcony, a huge batroom with a massive bath and a walk in shower; and to top it all off the bedhead is a room divider between the sleeping area and a useful workspace.
The bonus was a ceiling fan as well as AC.
A really great idea was the TV drops into it's own cupboard giving you an unrestricted view of the ocean.
Outside a massive pool had a number of sunbeds around to lazy away a few hours.
The restaurant had a reasonable breakfast buffet with the usual choices....No juice though only cordial.
The evening buffet varied from night to night, but was more than passable.
You can choose to go 'A la Carte' if you choose, but beware it's not that 'A la Carte' as you might imagine.
Now for my only complaint. The hotel blurb says, "Fast internet"......that is completely wrong. Our internet connection speed was 1.6mbs which is DREADFUL and not fast at all. Plus they have their own website protocol monitoring, which is also wrong (IMO). Other than that this is a good place to stay.
PS.... I ought to mention this is an out of town hotel, so you'll need transportation to go anywhere.
- roberteL1460UI (10/5): Away from the crowds but brilliant transport. - The resort and spa is exceptional. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms comfortable and clean, the swimming pools are the best. We used Athula transport with driver Dinesh, totally professional and reasonably prices. Dinesh is a truely a careful, safe, courteous and knowledgeable driver. Our stay and travels could not have been better. Thank you to everyone.
- sharonalexander (2/5): Dirty, tired and poor service - to name but a few! - From the moment we arrived we found the service poor. Staff appeared disinterested. Our room was grubby and tired , the safety deposit box was not secured to anything and could be easily carried out of the room, sockets did not work. Our meal in the evening was poor. Slow service and waited an age to order - had to ask ! Waited over 50 minutes for food to arrive - if we hadn’t asked where it was then we may still be sat there! Food was so undercooked , seemed to have just been flashed under a grill - half ingredients were missing and it was inedible . My husband went to hotel toilets which were dirty . We are both expecting an upset stomach in the morning! We spoke to duty manager to no avail- just a shrug of the shoulders and production of the bill, a sad start to our holiday 🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
- andream0402 (8/5): First impressions…. - First impressions are fabulous! As you look through reception to the beautiful view of the ocean you think you’ve arrived in Paradise. The pool area is lovely as you walk to your room.
The rooms are very spacious with a dressing and sitting area. The ground floor units have outdoor seating and direct access to the pool.
The bed was very comfortable . The bathroom had an enormous bath which could have been overlooking the ocean but everyone passing would have been able to see you ! The bathroom floor was very uneven.
This resort is far from town. Once you’re there you’re a bit stuck there. The place felt almost closed. The restaurant is open 7.30-9.30am for breakfast and 7.30-9.30 for dinner. It’s a buffet and the food is good but there are a lot of flies, some birds and the odd cat in the restaurant. You can order snacks at the bar during the day but there is nowhere you can buy a packet of chips or a cracker or anything so if you have children take them with
you. There are a couple of shops selling jewellery and clothes but we never saw them open.
The beach looks nice but the sea was too rough to swim in .
The place felt a bit desolate….
- dilankam802 (10/5): Comfortable getaway - Very nice and relaxing place. The rooms have a great view and the rooms are very comfortable. There are 2 swimming pools with great views, too. Only their menu and the food need to get better. Overall experience is very good and I highly recommend it for couples and families.
- penhuel (10/5): What an experience - Just perfect :-)
Nuwan, Vishwa, Sanchuthan are wonderful guys at towel arts :-)
Thanks to housekeeping team also.
Special thanks to Virag’
The chef is also very good whatever you order.
Beach, palm trees: everything is awesome here.
Feel free to come here and enjoy :-)
- 868vianneyp (10/5): Exceptional service and friendly staff - The hotel has a local view great service should not forget Nuwan who gave us an exceptional service. Thanks to the staff and for the great service. We stayed is room no 504 which had all the services we needed. Such a beautiful room and hotel. Highly recommended
- L5211FMricharde (4/5): Terrible - Just finished a tour of Sri Lanka with Inspiring Vacations, stayed in 7 different hotels, this was the worst by far. Lovely site, lovely pool, very tired hotel and terrible service. First room we were allocated could not be locked, the latching arrangement for the pool access door was smashed, we were given another room. this room had no fridge and they seemed surprised when I asked for a fridge so they went to our first room and brought that fridge to our room, All this changing rooms and waiting took the best part of two hours for them to sort out, very frustrating when you just completed a long road trip from our last hotel, it was at least two hours plus before we were settled in.
The second room - TV did not work, the phone did not work, we could not get wifi in our room, we had to go back to the reception area to get wifi. I advised the front desk (could not ring them as the phone did not work, had to walk some distance to the front desk several times ) of these issues at 6:00am, at 2:00pm and 4:00pm, finally got a tech to come and sort things out, left the tech in our room while we went for pre dinner drinks and then dinner. Got back to our room at approx 9:30pm - nothing fixed and no attempt to contact us to advise us of the situation - went back to the front desk again at 10:00pm and complained again - staff member knocked on our door at approx 10:30pm offering to move us to yet another room, by this time my wife was already in bed so no moving rooms again. we were leaving the hotel ( were there for 2 nights) at 6:00pm the following day, no point in moving rooms that day.
3 out of 4 of the available plugs in the room did not work. If we left the pool access door open a foul smell emanated from the flood overflow drain in the toilet floor and would fill the toilet /bathroom with a sewer smell- I can only assume that with the aircon going and the door closed it created a positive pressure in the room thereby holding the odour back, as soon as the door was opened the bathroom smelt like a sewer. Staff smiled politely and did nothing, not their fault I suspect, very poor maintenance and staff training. Worst hotel I ever stayed in.
Will be giving feedback to Inspiring Vacations
9could not ring them as the phone did not work)
- Hasareli (8/5): Relaxing stay away from the busyness - The overall experience was satisfying. Breakfast and dinner had a decent spread and to top it up the food was quite tasty. We enjoyed the breezy weather and the endless garden area which gave us ample space gaze around. Friendly staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Location, facing both the pool and the Indian Ocean was superb. We had an ongoing problem with the toilet which kept running - it was attended to unsuccessfully twice before being completely replaced on our third and last day which also did away with the intermittent unpleasant smell. There was no fridge until we asked and the one then provided sounded like a steam engine. But we loved the property despite this and the buffet food was excellent.
- Tushar (10/5): loved the stay - Amazing Stay worth the money and the staff was very much helpful
- Verified traveler (4/5): - AC didn't work properlly. Washrooms was not cleaned properlly when moved in... lots of stain.
- David (2/5): - A poor experience overall.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful atmosphere, Excellent service. The Villa was breathtaking ❤ Thank you team
- Venus (6/5): - I already mentioned my boyfriend is Vegetarian when I booked hotels through Expedia but all Sri Lanka hotels ignore Expedia request box...Especially this hotel, set dinner don't have choice in Main Course of Vegi food in dinner. It caused me had big arguments with my boyfriend and I cried to ran away from this hotel restaurant due to no staff can speak English. I will never come to this hotel again which screw up my romantic holiday.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing . - If you compare the dinner buffet with what you get at the Kingsbury , Shangri La or Cinnamon Grand in Colombo at the same price this is poor . The staff are very friendly but poorly trained .
- Hishan (4/5): - It’s good if the reservation team be more aware about the guest booking instead of getting panic when the guest checking-in, infact about this reservation I have already informed some officials (Nalika) in advance to prevent such inconvenience which I have noticed haven’t even passed through which I didn’t expect.
Other than these unhappy moments the property, its ammenities and the rest service cannot be matches with many Hotel. Superb hotel and the location. They have spent thousands and millions to make this hotel so fantastic and to make the guest happy.
Will recommend to others and will visit again.
- Gershon (10/5): Well maintained property. - The resort was amazing only bad thing is that there was a lot of flies. But besides the flies very clean and really well maintained. Defiantly recommend it.
- Bertrum (8/5): - It’s licated in a calm coastal location and has all the amenities for a spa hotel. Check in staff were excellent and maintained the hospitality Srilanka is well known. Rooms are a bit dated-didn’t have a fridge and the safe was movable. But this was rectified promptly. We were on half board but the first night was a ala Carte menu with minimal options.
All in all the staff are excellent and went out of the way to make our stay memorable and pleasurable. Some maintenance and updated is much needed.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The food was good. The room was excellent. However, the staff were at times not very helpful. Overall, a good stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Pools were fabulous. Beach was pretty
Staff were friendly
- flapper (6/5): - Good pools. Needs maintenance. And cleanliness. Restaurant and bars need work. Expensive for external activitivities
- Paula (6/5): - The resort is located on the beach and has two great pools. The rooms need some maintenance and cleanliness could be improved the restaurant and bars could be improved a bit
- Numal (8/5): - Nice place in chelaw.beautiful hotel setting, amazing swimming pool very large. Excelent
- Chami (6/5): Break at the other Anantaya - Pleasant & helpful staff but the condition could have been improved a lot. We always loved Anantaya after spending an amazing time at the Pasikuda venue but was disappointed to witness the status at the Chilaw branch with torn bed sheets on the additional bed and the aged status of the same.
The rest of the hotel looked great with a good Gym and recreation facilities. The resting chairs at the pool are a great feature and also the water villas.
Not too far from Colombo and an easy route.
Thanks
- Verified traveler (10/5): best beach property - Exclusive property , amazing very large pool, courteous staff, and a life time experience
- Sudarshana (2/5): Poor organisation - We booked this hotel though the Expedia app and it clearly showed we booked 2 double beds including breakfast. However when we entered the hotel they said we weren’t illegible of owning a room with 2 double beds then we payed (EXTRA) money for 1 single bed. Yet when we entered the room we realised it wasn’t cleaned properly as we spotted dead flys and stains on floors as this situation is not good enough for my kids ! The toilet paper was not refilled at all as we were left with a quarter only! And we had no soap , shampoo or conditioner as this is very poor organisation . We went to the hotels cafeteria for breakfast and the stuff member at the front showed us to the food and she told to go get our food and showed us to our table yet when we filled our plates and got to our table another member came up to us and he said we have to pay for breakfast but we booked the hotel room
including breakfast, we are completely confused and unhappy about this situation, and we are Australians and every 6 months we travel around the world and we stayed in a variety of hotels and this was our first ever experience of having a horrible day ! We are unpleasant about what had happened! (This is no at all a 5 star hotel) by the way good job editing your photos! We won’t recommend this hotel for any one ‘’ Ananthaya chillaw Srilanka “
- Rachel (6/5): - Room was delightful, a large space and lovely views of the beach. The staff were disappointing, turn down service was poor and had to serve ourselves water at dinner.
Pool was really lovely as was the general setting of the hotel.
