Guest Reviews
- EMcDee2013 (2/5): Mold fest. - Run away! Mold fest. Grimey surfaces. Black streaks coming from air conditioning vent. Eight inches in mold on wall from floor in back of and next to bed. Bathroom mold thich and growing. General neglect of overall maintenance. Many other great hotels in merida at similar pricing. Run away from this one. I did.
- R2537GIjorgeg (2/5): Not a good property - The room had a foul smell, half a rolll of toilet paper, empty tissue container, 1 hanger, tv with garbled sound and intermittent to no digital images. I canceled my 12 day stay after the 1st day and was denied even a partial refund . Would not recommend
- Ana_Goinhas (2/5): Never again! And do not recommend. - Going to Merida for a wedding ceremony was the long waited vacation I was looking for, and unfurtunatly started like a disaster.
Arrived in Merida by bus around 20h00 and went straight to the hotel. Check-in process was smooth, staff was ok, not rude but not super friendly, and the receptionist did not speak English at all, but I could manage with my little Spanish.
As soon as we get to the room, immediatly I wanted to leave. Pictures in the website very nice, but the room and the building where this room was located was in very poor condition. No hairdryed (picure of the website showing a hairdryer was removed after I complained), dirty blankets, broken bin, furniture damaged, no terrace, humidity, lock on the window broken.
I went right away to the reception and complaint. The face of the receptionist said everything, she didn't even apologize, no explanation she just asked to the colleague to show me another room. They showed me another room with the balcony, I asked the gentleman where are the outdoor chairs that appears in the pictures? He mentions they are all at the pool. They showed me another room, broken tub, among others. One worse than the other. After I inform the reception I was going to check-out from the hotel the following morning as I was too tired to move, they showed theyr best room - Lights where shivering, broken furniture, and didn't even stay more than a couple of minutes, otherwise I am sure I would find more. I complained and inform that I would sleep in my room that night, but would leave the next morning and demanded compensation for the 3 nights not used. The next morning no one could give me an answer, just to file a written complaint on email and to wait 30 bussiness days. More than a month have passed no one replies my emails or messages anymore. Just ignore. Very very bad. Do not recommend at all.
And on top of this they have 2 different breakfast: American breakfast, and a full buffett breakast. When I booked directly on their website it didnt even had the option to choose, out of curiosity (one of the few messages they have replied) I asked what is the difference between breakfasts as I found the american option very poor and would deffenetly prefer the other one. They reply that the full buffett breakfast is for the guests that book directly with them trought whatsapp or email. SO WHAT DO YOU CALL BOOKING DIRECTLY ON YOUR WEBSITE?? A THIRD PARTY??
Nothing makes sense. Breakfast was poor, rooms were poor, half of the staff didnt speak english and didnt smile. Luckely I was able to change hotel the next morning were I was very nicely treated, and all the staff were very friendly and helpfull.
- Izayda Leonor Viera (10/5): - Great hotel. Muy buen hotel
- vanesss (4/5): - Lost they Quality
- Victor (2/5): - Floor not clean, bathrooms doesn't work, showers terrible, jacuzzi doesn't work and dirty.
Administration didn't resolve for a better room. They gave me similar.
Service in the restaurant Excellent. Excellent actitud . The Hotel its actually Diferent.
- Guadalupe (6/5): - .
- Rosa (10/5): - This hotel was clean. Quiet and very friendly
- fernando m (10/5): - was clean
- Zazil (4/5): - One of the worst hotels in Merida, building with no maintenance, no hot water. I need to ask for some basics like soap & toilet paper! The only good thing about the hotel is the swimming pool and its location. It used to be one of the best hotels in Merida 18 years ago but not anymore.
- tarangpagarwal (2/5): Shabby Unprofessional Hotel - During check-in, they just handover 2 water bottles and 4 coffee pods and a coffee kit right over the counter which is a courtesy from hotel. Basic courtesy is that these should have been placed in the room beforehand. Foul smell in the room. I had to go & tell reception, they then sent someone to apply room freshner. The hotel room is just shabby, no great cleanliness, mosquitoes around. Took a Junior Suite, but it has no telephone in the room to communicate with hotel desk. I had to go multiple times at reception for any requests I had. When I said, there is no phone, they said they are in process of changing. No glasses in the room, no TV remote either. Took the glasses & remote from reception. TV remote given was not working. They don't even give you a digital locker/safe to put your things. Bathroom fittings/accessories were missing. Most of the reception staff is not cordial, they hardly smile and have no politeness towards the guests. On Day2 evening, the passage where my my room was located had a horrible, foul smell like defecation as if some leakage had happened since 6 PM in the evening. Hotel staff was totally unaware of this, until I told them at 10 PM. Only after i told them, they checked and addressed it. Just waste of money for a Junior suite. Staying in this hotel is a pure waste of money. There are much better hotels in Merida Centro, this hotel is a strict NO-NO. My worst hospitality experience in Mexico in over a decade.
Me encantó!!!
- Oscar (10/5): - Muy confortable
- Amy (8/5): - Very well located for our stay in Merida.
- Indira (8/5): - It was a nice experience. The area was clean! Only problem I had was no internet in my room.
- JOSE LUIS (10/5): - Pasamos unas vacaciones maravillosas
- KEY (6/5): - The buffet that is included is eggs, toast, refried beans, and chips. Don't think it'sorw than that ! Staff was not pleasant, my room changed 3 times and when I told here the whole floor of the bathroom was leaking she did not believe me so I took her to the room and had to show her. I won't back
- Pedro (6/5): - Our stay was not that good, every time we went to get our breakfast we were ask again and again about our room . The service for breakfast terrible had to wait to get service. Made it so hard on us since we had a tour and wanted to take advantage of the breakfast.
- Juan Carlos (4/5): Not bad for the price - Not the normal extra firendly staff you'll fiend in México. Most of the employees doing the very minimum especially de servers. For the prices is not bad.
- Rosaura (8/5): - Nice closed to centro& shopping.
- Paulina (10/5): - Excelente ubicación
- Rosi (10/5): - Muy céntrico !!
- Ruben (10/5): - Buena
- Dulce (2/5): Terrible pet friendly policy - terrible pet friendly policy, it seems like the deposit is pre planned to never b returned to the customer, is just a scam, might as well call it a pet fee, not a deposit
- Denise (4/5): - The rooms in this property are in bad shape. Leaking roof in bathroom, loose and missing grout, non working tap in bathroom sink, old rusting fixtures, hot tub was not working ( as part of a junior suite). Hotel went on strike and we were placed in a different hotel, w weren’t notified beforehand. The best part was the staff. Very friendly and did their best to accommodate us.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice place to stay - The stay was nice, location perfect for exploring the city. The breakfast was ok nothing special (Americana breakfast review only). If you stay there be careful when laying down your head as a cement decorative ridge is perfect to hit the back of your head on. I have an egg on my head from doing that twice. The personnel ere all very kind. Overall nice place to stay.
- Carlos (2/5): - Place is rundown
- revfredt (6/5): Not motel 6 but not the Marriott either - Hotels Los Aluxe in Merida was a little disappointing. First, shower was lukewarm. Second, The restaurants do not open until 7:00 or 7:30 am and there's NO coffee complimentary or otherwise. Staff is so-so courteous and very unorganized, and lFood is very bland and mediocre.
Construction is underway in Lobby. I think it will be a bar/lounge. The elevator was inoperable during our visit, so we were lucky we were on the first level. The place was quiet and clean, although it needed a little updating and minor repairs. I would likely not stay here again.
- Anamaria (10/5): - Everything was great the service is amazing
- Antonio (8/5): - Everything was fine till we were about to check out downstairs that we’ve noticed the comforter we slept on ., had a big dried blood stain
- Hector (6/5): - The hotel is in the right place of what we were looking for, but it was too noisy at night.
- Albert (2/5): - This hotel is outdated but it has a lot of potential. It is in an excellent location on Calle 60, midway point between there famous attractions to the north like Calle 47, Santa Park with its outdoor mercado, Paseo de Montejo, La Plancha park and the historical district, El Centro, Plaza Grande, Plaza Santa Lucia to the south. Along with many other notable sites like La Negrita bar and Mercado 60. All within walking distance to the hotel.
- Alonso (2/5): - Hotel is in extremely bad shape the cold water faucet was not working in the room. The shower head was rusty only one elevator was operating.
- Guadalupe (10/5): - Great location.
- Miguel (8/5): - The staff is very helpfull and friendly. The hotel is in the main street abd surrounded by excellent restaurants
- gilf435 (10/5): Nice 2 Night Stay - Puzzled at first when using my phone for directions and it said hotel was permanently closed. Drove through the area that was a total construction zone but found the hotel to be open.
Workers have removed the old cobblestone from the street and replacing them with pavers. I miss the old world feel the way it was.
After being greeted very kindly at the front desk, was escorted to the third floor suite. The unique floor plan had a triangle shaped enclosed terrace that looked down on the front street.
The bed and pillows were very comfortable. Given its location, the hotel was bigger than expected with a quaint courtyard and good size pool. Free parking in the adjacent lot was very convenient.
Real reason for booking here was its proximity to La Negrita, a block away. Walked there for dinner and had a great time with the live band. Highly recommend and hope to return someday.
- Pascale (8/5): - Hôtel bien situé.
Personnel sympathique et lit confortable.
- Francisco S (4/5): - Facility is very outdated bathrooms needs updating, toilet need also updating, staff some seemed did not care for the guest. This was my first and last time coming to this facility. Will not recommend
- caryonsuitcase (2/5): poor management resulting in bad expierience - The staff are wonderful, but management appears not to care in the least about client experience or basic needs. The elevator and room key did not work, meaning I had to run up and down 4 flights of stairs repeatedly as the desk staff tried to fix the room key. On the fourth trip each time, time, a porter would come with me to open room. I did this 3 or 4 times each day-- a lot of stairs and aggravation. the parking garage weas locked and I could not get my car out one morning. The hotel did not provide minimal drinking water. The sheets and towels were stained. I do not recommend this hotel. Many others to chose from in Merida.
- Miriam (8/5): - I liked your staff and the janitor - immensely helpful.
I did not like the sex noises coming from the room next door - they were playing loud music and that didn't work to mask the obscene moans! What if I had kids in my room! I called the front desk to report it, and nothing was done - you all need to put up signs to curb this behaviour!
- Luis (10/5): - It was nice and clean. The only one suggestion is to have almond milk old fashion oat meal.
- David (10/5): - Lots of gorgeous outdoor covered areas. Amazing views. Ocean breezes made the property very comfortable. Beautifully colored home with everything you need.
- David (10/5): - Very clean and kind staff.
- Francisca (10/5): - Location
- Valerie (10/5): - We are so glad we found this pet-friendly hotel 5 blocks from the tourist center. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable and very quiet. We could sit with our dog on the terrace and have breakfast. Will definitely use again.
- Jose (6/5): - I didn't like that they gave me a room with no balcony.
- MANUEL V (10/5): - location is perfect for me and the places i like going
litle bit to noisy at night from a bar close by
this was our 4th time using the facility and no doubth we will do it again
- Luis F (6/5): - It's an old hotel that has not been maintained properly. Old does not mean dirty
- Luigi (10/5): - Excellent service. As a parent of a child with autism its hard to find places where my son is comfortable but this hotel surpassed all expdctaions. Highly recommended and when i go back to merida will stay here for sure 👌
- Jorge (10/5): - _
- 587yvesg (2/5): Bad service - We went last week end to this hotel that is very well located in the center. It offers a parking and that was very convinient.
In our room there was one tiny bottle of water for the two of us. I went to the reception to ask for one more and the answer was no. They only privide one snall bottle per room for the duration of your stay. This is so bad specially in a warm city like Merida. So I purchased a big bottle for our comfort.
We decided to enjoy a drink at the bar before going out for dinner. For 15 minutes we were there, not a single waiter or bartender came to us. Ok, forget about the drink and lets go out
The sink in our bathroom was cracked at multiples places and the shelf next to it was not clean.
Only one lift was working, and you cannot know if you called it because the light at the button does work. Arrived on friday and leaving on sunday, the other lift did not get repaired !
All hotels in town with a parking were full due to the Independence day of Mexico.
I certainly not recomand this hotel that is not what you normally find in this great city and wonderful country.
- Jerome (10/5): - My history staying at the hotel since 1987, and knowledge of the neighborhood.
- Trev (2/5): - Didn't like the property at all.
Location of the property was the only good thing
- jose (2/5): - I like it’s location, it is close to downtown and all of its amenities. I didn’t like the hotel conditions, and they did not respect the previously room fees and they ended up charging more than agreed at the time of booking.
- ggasque (2/5): Very poor experience - My general experience was very poor at Los Aluxes. We arrived late on June 29, 2022, due to a delayed flight, and upon arrival to the hotel, we were, firstly, charged the difference from our reservation and THEN told that they overbooked and we couldn't stay there. The sent us to a MUCH better hotel for the night (Gamma) and were told to be on call for them to tell us when we would move back. They called us later that day and said next day we will move back, checking out at 11 from Gamma and waiting in the lobby until 3pm, when our room at Los Aluxes will be ready. When we complained, they agreed to let us stay at Gamma until 6 pm. Once we moved back to Los Aluxes, the elevator was broken and never fixed, our room was never cleaned, and they allowed a big crowd to take over the swimming pool, litter the area with beer cans, and smoke in smoke free zone. The personnel was friendly, but either insufficient or poorly trained. It was a very poor experience and would NEVER go back or recommend it. However, the weekend breakfast buffer is really good and would recommend you try it, once you stay ELSEWHERE.
- Jacoba (6/5): - The personnel was very kind, friendly and knowledgeable, however the air condition in rooms was awful, every time they cleaned they turned them off. Bar closes way too early, no coffee in rooms, no ice available in halls, no mini fridge , very stingy on the towels, and the food in the buffet was way to salty. The front of the Hotel was dirty, glass doors very dirty specially with COVID should be cleaned at all times.
- Eduardo (10/5): - Nice place and safe!
- Lorena (6/5): - Service was good, they were very friendly. The room was ok but the shower was old, rusty and no pressure. I needed to flush the bathroom like 4 times to work. If the bathroom would of be better I would of stay longer.
- Fabian (8/5): - Clean , walking to distance to every where
- KIMBERLEE (4/5): - Hotel needs major cleaning. Upon arrival, our bed didn’t have the bottom sheet, our floor hadn’t been cleaned, our towels where holey and frayed. Water was brown often, no warm/hot water often. No tv remote or operable hairdryer. Tried to cancel our remaining stay and no response from hotel. Overall not a good hotel stay.
- Rodrigo (4/5): - The restaurant buffet but this hotel is not a 4 star hotel
- Allen (8/5): - Only problem was room was not ready until after 5. Othwise nice, unique place
- Elizabeth (8/5): - Convenient location. Nice amenities
- Joshua (6/5): - Nice, clean, modern hotel. However, there is a bar directly next door that plays heavy metal at top volume to midnight. Also, the sheet for our bed wasn’t big enough. It didn’t even cover the mattress. It took multiple phone calls and much convincing to get a proper sized sheet. Otherwise, though, a nice hotel, good location, clean, generally friendly staff. Good breakfast.
- Manuel (10/5): - I was visiting family, so I only slept and had breakfast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The place is very clean and quiet and the staff is very helpful. The location is excellent, it is very close to downtown.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything fine everything very fine everything very clean excellent service
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Muy comodo, fallaba la televiosion y pocos canales
- Verified traveler (8/5): - location , its located in a point between el centro and close to santa ana park, church nearby and lots af places to shop and visit. Price is very modic . service is very cordial from all the staff a very good restaurant and many other things and also I have to mention a good size swimming pool to refresh yourself and all your family
- Miguel a (6/5): - No intenet in the room
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Everything was good nice and clean and also near good restaurants and other entertainment places
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pool was dirty because the busy weekend but the personnel waited until Monday 3 pm to started cleaning it up , when it is 37 + degrees Celsius you expect the hotel to have the pool available during the day, instead of cleaning up Monday during the day they should clean it up Sunday night after closing it so they would have no complains from most of the customers.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The bathroom don’t have hygienic, the towels the toilet no have good función, the bed need be change are old
- Lidia (8/5): Regresariamos con gusto. - Confortable y con excelente ubicación.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Toilet didn’t work. I had to use a bucket to flush it. Hotel is not clean. Water leaks in the bathroom sink.
- E.H.R. (8/5): - Great location, very clean room.
Staff is very helpful.
It could get very crowded since they organize conventions and the public areas are very noisy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location and great price. Friendly staff and nice restaurant
- manuel (6/5): - close to places I like going like Montejo santa ana and walking distance to el centro
- Rafael (8/5): - Very nice hotel with amenities such as pool and resturant. The only thing is that the drinking water at the room should be courtesy of the hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great value , convenient, clean and very friendly employees.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Avoid it, it is not a 5 stars... 1-2 max, everything is outdated, hole in bathtub, weird shower, no wifi in rooms, ghost hotel...
- Verified traveler (4/5): No - Not comfortable. Old towels, linen, pillows. Had a bad (bedbug) experience in the “Torre B”, the building that is not renovated, which btw doesn’t have wifi in rooms. I was moved to the renovated block. Better but not great. Can’t see out windows, it had plumbing issues and such. Didn’t try the food but had a look at the breakfast buffet and food didn’t look good to me.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location and clean - Let me check-in early. Very friendly and clean room. Walking distance from Paseo Montejo and downtown area.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible - They gave me a room on a side of the hotel where wi fi did not work . We called and their answer was : “ internet does not reach some rooms “
After trying in different areas out of the room and not getting Wi fi , my wife requested a change of room . They changed our room and the wi fi still worked badly.
Cleaning ladies would come in without knocking on the door . Then it would them hours to get the room cleaned despite us asking them to clean the room.
Staff just did not seem to care about the well being of guests.
We were not the only one ignored or dismissed by staff.
The hotel was quite noisy . The noise would come from building works , other guests partying till early hours of the morning or staff talking on corridors .
Restaurant was always empty and unenviting.
No fridge in the room.
old building . Needs maintenance
I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL
- MANUEL (8/5): VERY CONVIENENTE LOCATION PASEO DE MONTEJO AND CEN - VERY NICE , CLEAN AND GOOD AND SINCERE TREAT OF ALL PERSONAL
WALKING DISTANCE TO EL CENTRO AND EL ,PASEO DE MONTEJO , VERY GOOD OF VARIETY OF PLACES TO EAT OR GET DRINKS.
EASY ACCESS TO GET ALL KIND OF TOURS TO MOST IMPORTANT PLACES TO VISIT
WE, MY WIFE AND I HAD A GREAT TIME
- Dana (8/5): A Few Days in Merida - Came to town to run the Rock-n-Roll Half Marathon and got to know much more about the hotel staff, locals, and tourist sites. Still has small-town warmth in today's age! Wi-fi in rooms would have been nice!
