• Charles (4/5): - Poor security - main doors to building do not lock and anyone can access the buildings from the street. Had a random knock on the door at 4 in the morning. Facilities condition is poor with cockroaches and grime on surfaces.

The whole room was filthy. I've never seen dirtier walls anywhere. The bed is rock hard and instead of the king size advertised it was 2 singles pushed together. Avoid at all costs! It would be a more pleasant experience contracting HIV off Charlie Sheen

• Chris (2/5): - Room seemed like a last minute solution to an overbooking situation. The bathroom was mouldy, there was no seal on the glass shower door & water just ran out onto the floor. Which made the perfect environment for cockroaches to breed. The wood on the bottom of bathroom fixture swollen from water damage. I had killed 2 cockroaches within 30 mins of my arrival & could tell where a previous occupant had killed one on the wall as it was still there. Badly patched walls, wall in bathroom still had the hole. Tried to cover with a poster. No second blanket and no air con remote. Cockies crawling all over coffee & tea tray. I decided to pass on salmonella, e-coli & gastro. Sign out the front was so badly sun damaged it couldn’t be read. Other guests smoking out the back with the door open allowing smoke to enter the building. I don’t really like smoking in the shower.
• Tina (2/5): - This was the most dirtiest scariest stay we’ve had, if we hadn’t come in late and been so tired we wouldn’t have stayed. Expected the car to be gone in the morning but luckily was still there, we only needed somewhere to stay for a few hours as we left early. Never met staff but there was no problem with getting key.
• Gerald (2/5): AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE! RATING SHOULD BE 1 STAR - This was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. With a 3-star rating, you would expect at least a decent level of comfort (without any luxury), but I honestly wouldn’t even give it 1 star. Luckily, I was only staying for one night — had it been longer, I would have immediately booked a cab and found another hotel, no matter the cost. From the moment I arrived, the experience was appalling. I was greeted by what appeared to be a cockroach, and on entering the room, I found a large, unmistakable hair on the blanket. To make matters worse, there was even a printed notice stuck on the ceiling — yes, the ceiling! — reminding guests to drop their keys in a box outside reception if checking out early. Do not expect to enjoy a shower either — the water pressure was painfully slow, nowhere near what you’d call a power shower. The entire place was filthy and neglected. Please see the attached photos for proof. Hotels.com should seriously reconsider listing this property on their platform. It is a complete disgrace to be advertised alongside legitimate hotels
• Nicki (2/5): - This old property is old and no upkeep done. Bathroom was useable . Full of mould. Walls were filthy. Beds were ok but I itched all night.

The guy behind reception was ok and understood when I showed him the pictures. The place obviously need a huge overhaul / re-furbishment but that should take away the need for cleaning.

On bringing the problem politely to the attention of management. The manager started screaming st me telling me he would call the police if I didn't leave. Absolutely disgraceful

Its filthy dirty and the perskn in charge seems to never be around. We left the next day as it was just too disgusting to stay.

Got there and the room smelt weird, opened the bathroom door and the smell of mould was so bad I became physically sick. There was also no smoke alarm in the room, there were bugs and the walls were dirty. Rang reception and they agreed to provide a refund, did then charged me again. Had to fight to get a refund again! Don’t stay there!!!!!!!

Sheets were clean, but the thin crappy blanket on the beds were both stained and kept us cold all night. Next to the main bed was revolting. 1 bowl, 2 plates and 1 fork in the room. Yet had coffee sachets and milk to make a coffee….not sure how you meant to drink one though? I wouldn’t stay here again, and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. It’s really a backpackers style accommodation but too pricey for that

• Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible and Dirty! - Terrible and Dirty everything without any exageration, mouldy bathroom & tiles, no Wi-Fi, I had to go to reception to replace the one dirty towel and ask for 2 towels as we were 2 people, no hand towels though, I had to ask for 2 replacement pillow covers as the existing ones were uninspiring. Everything was beyond dated. Dated and Dirty damaged walls. If you want to survive do not open the fridge door. I do not think that the flooring was cleaned in years. The entire place should be shut down by the authorities, as it is a public health hazard! Do not even stop, keep driving... The attached photos are of the second room, the first allocated one was far worse.

The room smelt like chain smokers had lived in for 10 years and left their butts in the pillows, under bed etc. Only 1 towel, no bathroom floor matt, not a single place to hang towel. Ended up checking out early as we couldn't stay in room.
• roslyn (10/5): - I had no great expectations. It happened to be an exceptionally busy weekend, and most hotels were charging $1000 per night, so this one at $100 was definitely a bargain. The property was not impressive, being old and dilapidated. But the room was a surprise. Despite the rust and peeling paint, the room was very clean. The bed was super comfortable for my troubled back, the sheets were quality, and the one towel was large and thick. A bath mat would have helped, and given the many power points, a bedlamp would have been an easy attribute. For an old place, the AC was modern, and the shower fittings were clearly new and quality. I felt comfortable and safe, and I overlooked the scruffiness because of the money I was saving. I would choose this room again, because it was so clean

However the shower, bathroom and around the bathroom door had black mold, if you touched it, it rubbed part of it off so try not to touch the walls. The water pressure was terrible and the shower head was broken. The bed was like laying in a metal trolley, you could feel every spring and i thought we where getting a king bed but we had 2 king singles pushed together. The bedding and lining consisted of a bottom and top sheet, a blanket that was as thin as a sheet, 2 thin pillows and 1 towel for 2 people. I came home with bruised hips, shoulder's and bum from the bed.

First is the building should be demolished, wondering how they are still allowed to operate without complying with the WH&S standards, safety and rules. The bed really smelled like it has never been covered with clean sheets, very old pillows, exposed electrical wirings, filthy dirty, and they are posting pictures that aren't really how they look. Dirty, really dirty, noisy. and the people in that place, oh the bathroom, hasn't been cleaned maybe since the building was built...........

Roaches that crawled into our clothing overnight. Mold. Public areas covered in dirt, mold, and cigarettes. Eight parking spots for two buildings-worth of rooms. I understood that I would have subpar accommodations for the price, but this was worse than I imagined. This place should not even be licensed for operation.

• Ronda (4/5): Rude staff, uncomfortable beds, cockroaches - Staff were rude, didn’t even acknowledge us when we arrived. We had been in a cruise and disembarked early do i thought we would go early to drop off our luggage then find something else to do while waiting for our check in time. Then discovered our room was at the bottom of dangerously steep stairs. May not be a problem usually but we had excessive and heavy luggage. Then the beds were uncomfortable, the pillows flat and offer no support, thin blanket on the bed (in winter!) walls were dirty and there were cockroaches. I’m adding a photo of the one on the fridge, but there were more. My sister found 6 when she moved the kettle. I wouldn’t stay here again. Also, there’s not much in the area in terms of food and shopping.

All in all an absolute dive and not very impressed with the false advertising.

Room had no safety features (door lock is questionable), room smelt like cigarette smoke and mould, cockroaches everywhere and running under loose floorboards and all of over coffee table, dirty shower, dirty bedspread and sheets, towels had hair, walls very dirty and water damaged, A/C didn’t work, bathroom fan didn’t work, and couldn’t open window because screen was broken on floor window. Also the wifi didn’t work in the room at all, and there’s a huge gap underneath of the door to the room, and no doors blocking anyone from coming in from the street. Uncomfortable night to say the least.

I am elderly and use a walking frame. The management did allow me t sit in the foyer and wait for a friend to collect me. I had been evacuated from southern Morton Bay Islands ahead of cyclone Alfred due to my medical condition. Unacceptable that wotif was uncooperative re refund when the venue was unable to accommodate me.
• christine (2/5): - it’s not what was advertised, dirty everywhere, lots of bugs i killed 12 cockroaches in 2 days, curtain in bathroom window was broken so male staff kept looking in, jeffery on the first day kept touching me on the shoulder and my back, charles the manager was easy to deal with and understanding so he refunded me for 5 days. the main entrance door is chained opened which is bad security wise but i didn’t get one of the roaches and the room door had hugh gaps that the bugs could easy come and go until they get workers that actually want to clean i would NOT recommend this accomodation. the only good thing is bus stops right outside the door and city by bus is maybe 15 mins and bus costs 50 cents each way oh and the river look out is the next street over
• Ceilidh (4/5): - This is more a hostel than a hotel, not clean, cigarette burns on the blanket and sheets, bathroom dirty, cockroaches in the rooms, not good waking up to one on your face, no parking within 6 blocks as limited spots on site. Was cheap and convenient for our needs as close to the hospital but would we stay again? NO definitely not

Bed seemed to be okay but the room had a very mouldy smell could only have been the mattress as there wasn’t anything else in the room. Hallway was very smoky from smoking guests. Air conditioning was nice and cold. Parking was okay when I first arrived but after going out to dinner and returning had to park 3 blocks away and thus had to cart all my stuff 3 blocks back to the car in the morning. For supplied parking was very limited. Don’t say you have parking if you don’t have sufficient.

• Claire (2/5): - Please don’t ever stay here. I traveled alone and was duped by the photos on the listing of rooms that are not of their actual rooms. It said non smoking room but it reeked of smoke and there was an ashtray in the room. Door had a flick lock that could be opened from outside with a butter knife. Dirty, cockroaches, blood in the shower that wasn’t cleaned up, dirty toilet, unmade dirty bed, dirty towels on the wet floor. I could hear people screaming fighting shouting and banging all around and thank god I had furniture pressed again my door because someone tried getting in. Was here less than 2 hours and only to stay locked in the room while I found other emergency accommodation. After this nightmare I was refunded by the venue only 2 of the 3 nights I booked to spite the room clearly being used before I got there and not cleaned and being completely dangerous and unsafe. PLEASE do not ever book here.

• Joswim (2/5): Do Nor Book - criminal flophouse - Scariest Experience Ever … the photos are very deceiving - room was tiny, with no security apart from a standard privacy lock. Shouting, screaming and within 1/2 an hour some tried to break into my room. Police are regular visitors here. Dirty and stank of cigarettes. Could not stay and made other arrangements. Needs to be shut down.

• Matthew (2/5): - This place was extremely grimy and unsafe. The bathroom was covered in mould and looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The so-called “veranda” was outright dangerous, with a floor made of loose wooden planks placed on top of a corrugated tin roof. Stepping onto it, you could feel the floor flex and buckle, making it feel like it could give way at any moment. The door leading to the veranda didn’t fit the frame properly, leaving large gaps that could allow pests—or worse—to enter. It was “secured” with nothing more than a flimsy slide lock. To make matters worse, our bathroom window faced the veranda of another unit, and the blinds were missing slats, offering no privacy at all. Finally, there were cockroaches in the room and even in the limited cutlery the room provided.

• Melina (10/5): - Not bad for cheap accommodation, close to the cbd and shops. The attendant was very helpful and the cleaners are nice and helpful. However I feel bad for them as some of the guests were terribly noisy late at night.
• Pioneer07080132260 (2/5): Disgusting, dodgy backpackers slum - Absolutely disgusting a dodgy backpackers not a motel Overflowing ash tray and beer bottles as you walk in , should’ve been the first sign but had been travelling all day then walked down rickety stairs to what can be only described as a basement The room smelt revolting , we turned around and walked out , we lost our money but no way I’d let my family or anyone I liked stay there. Should be shut down
• LOU (2/5): - This property should be condemned. I felt unsafe walking on the patio because the boards bent and threatened to break as I stepped on them. The patio railing was held in place by a shelf bracket and the boards had broken as someone stepped on them. The power board to the rusty fridge and kettle just lay on the floor. What I saw on the web page was nowhere near what we were given. The room was exceptionally small and pokey. The shower had rust and mildew in it. The building itself was horrible with old mattresses lent on walls for who knows what. There was about 12 parks for the 50 odd residents and the drive so narrow it took a long time to maneuver to get out. We will NEVER go back and nor should anyone else. It should be condemned because it is unhealthy and unsafe. They should refund our money
• Gerhard (4/5): - Room not aired, no teaspoon to stir coffee, television only had a few channels, not even the local channels, very very basic room, community type kitchen filthy.

• Kyle (2/5): - The Cliff House was truely terrible. Health services should take a proper look at this place, it was disgustingly covered in mould, bugs, dirt, and other unhygienic conditions. Wasn’t even worth a cheaper price, within hours of getting there I asked for a refund and to move somewhere else. The lobby was dirty, each door had dirt all over them and the hallways and stairs looked like they hadn’t been vacuumed in years. As I stepped into my room, the first thing I noticed was gross walls and mould covering the bathroom, it looked like it hadn’t been even wiped over from last guest or vacuumed. Second thing I noticed, was a TOE NAIL on my bedside table, unwashed marks on bedsheets, tobacco crumbs in drawers, and unwashed utensils. I stayed one night, it seemed unsafe and doors were wide open for anyone on the street to walk in. The neighbours were loud but I did hear someone else asking for a refund, definitely was a drug house. There were scratches on the floors(?) and just bugs everywhere. I’m a 19 year old solo traveler trying to find places for cheap, but would absolutely NOT recommend even if you’re looking for backpacking accommodation. Saw the “cleaners” as I was leaving, just one guy with his pants down to his ass. Just go to an AirBnb instead.

• Sharon (6/5): - It was ok but waking up to a wet floor in the bedroom and the shower leaking water on the floor also the lock on the door was difficult to use

• Lisa (6/5): - Very accomadating staff...rooms need a proper clean but they do have air con, the beds are comfy and its well price with each room having own onsuite. Clise to the cultural hub and walking dustance to some amazing view
