Bonne chance pour dormir si la personne a côté de vous bouge beaucoup la nuit. En réservant à l’hôtel avec Booking, j’avais sélectionné l’âge de mes enfants (14 et 17 ans) et j’ai été surprise que le déjeuner (à la carte) était pour eux un déjeuner d’enfant seulement. C’est vraiment dommage que mes adolescents n’aient pas accès au même choix de repas que nous, les adultes… Je pense que ça ne coûte pas si cher d’ajouter un œuf, une tranche de pain et une tranche de bacon pour avoir un repas comme les adultes. Et, en plus, un petit verre de jus plutôt qu’un format régulier. Décevant de la part de l’hôtel.

Bathrooms big enough. coffee, soap, hair drier provided. Room clean. Check in is very slow. Staff not overly friendly. Gave me worst room in the hotel - one told the other, give her room 118. I explained I was jet lagged and tired and needed a quiet room - and it was right by reception on ground level, parking lot right by window, and the elevators, and lots people noise. Awful nights sleep. Woke to a woman yelling in the hallway for “painkillers”. So left promptly.

Check-in was a bit slow and the person on the desk needed to speak a little louder. Even with hearing aids, he was difficult to understand.

It had a nice sitting area - two comfortable arm chairs, and a comfortable and useful office chair and desk. The outlets were convenient to access for laptop and phone charging. The room had a small fridge for drinks or food. The room and bathroom were very clean, and the carpet and bedding and furniture were quite modern / new. The bathroom looked a bit dated, but well maintained. The bed was a bit firmer than my preference, but otherwise just fine. I appreciated the room still had an alarm clock. Many are starting to remove them. The TV was a smart TV that allowed you to use your own login credentials for the popular streaming services (Netflix, Disney+, etc.), as well as regular TV. There was a vending machine on the floor I was on, that had amenities / accessories / health items (tech chargers, cough drops, etc.) and an ice machine. The room I pre-paid for the breakfast for the two days I was staying at the hotel. It was reasonable, and provided a smaller subset of the full a la carte menu, I had the two-egg, toast, meat (ham, sausage, or bacon), and hashbrowns option both days. It came with coffee, tea, or juice. It was a good start to the day. I was in Ottawa to attend an event at Carleton. The hotel was a 10 minute drive / taxi / Uber to campus. Very convenient. It was also easy to jump on the Queensway to get downtown, or elsewhere in Ottawa. Beds were a bit firm for my preference.

The gym, located in the basement level, is also renovated and contains new top of the line exercise equipment to include a "Peleton" stepper. There is a restaurant on site. Breafast is not included, however, there is a modern coffee dispenser in the lobby which is available from 6-10 AM at no cost. Parking is free. Excellent location, walking distance to the Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus and less than 10 minutes drive to Quebec via the Champlain bridge. More importantly, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

I liked that there was coffee for the adults, but a little pouch of hot chocolate for the kids would have been a nice touch, especially when coming in from the extreme cold and with the restaurant not open all the time.

It would have been nice to know prior to booking so that one can make an informed decision. Especially for those travelling with kids. Also, one should not have to call to get essential toiletries in the room.

- myra (9/5): Very happy to have discovered the best western plus Carling after changing from another nearby hotel - The staff was extremely accommodating. Our rooms were beautiful and had everything we need for our comfort. We appreciated the gym access. Location of the hotel is perfect for our needs. Our rooms were very quiet, which provided for a very good sleep, much appreciated. Proximity to food and supplies across the street is helpful. Everything went very well and we will be returning over and over again starting sometime soon. Thank you. Little bit of dust, which I pointed out to the staff thermostat numbers were not fully legible and service person advised they needed a repair. Espresso machine needed a repair.

The room was clean and we'll appointed. Parking was included in the price making it very affordable. We also enjoyed our breakfast at the on sight restaurant. Our only complaint...we were unable to access any channel on the TV, not even the news. The front desk did not offer any assistance.
