• Tricia (2/5): - I made a online reservation the morning of the day I was to arrive. When I stoped hours later at a restaurant and saw the email from the owner advising me of the walking and stairs and parking a block away that would be involved. I knew I would not be able to handle it. They would not give a refund. One of my first impressions of Canada, thankful that every other experience in Canada was pleasant.
• David (6/5): - Liked how they can accommodate 3 person in a room, each with their own bed. Staff is excellent to deal with and room was modestly renovated. Shower was not hot.
• Suzanne (6/5): Glad it was only one night stay. - We had to walk up a steep incline, then climbed two lots of steps to get to front door of guesthouse. Reception member was very polite and helpful. We then had to climb a lot more stairs to the top to access our room. I booked the 3 single bed suite we received a double and single but couldn’t be bothered going down and up stairs to complain. We only received two bath towels and one bath mat for 3 people and when I did complain I was told they didn’t do hand towels and I should of brought own. We received another bath towel but had to use bath mat to dry hands in bathroom. Shower worked well and room was provided with a kettle and a small amount of tea coffee sugar and two tiny biscuits. There was a stain on pillow case and bed sheet had wee hairs and I stopped looking as again had no energy to go back downstairs.
• Nicola (10/5): Would stay again. - We had two rooms booked, one for us and one for my daughter, it was very comfortable and clean and had everything we needed for our 1 night stay. Very quiet and a good breakfast.

• Richard (6/5): - Aside from the big hill you walk up to get to it, it is in a quiet area and safe as a primary school and a dental hospital across from it. Check in was comical as I could straight away not work out how to switch off the bathroom light. I had to leave the room and walk to reception to get the guy to come and have a look. He didn’t have a clue either so went off to call the manager. He came back a short while later to tell me it was activated by a motion sensor. This information should have been presented to me or made available at check in or displayed in the room. It also then raised the issue of having to keep the bathroom door shut to avoid the light and ceiling extractor fan switching on everytime I moved in the bedroom. Given that there was no other source of natural light or fresh air it made the room very stuffy and dim. The room was clean enough and tidy and there was a tea / coffee making facility but the room looked tired with marks on the wall and ceiling. Needs a paint job. The wires were hanging down below the TV as well - cable tidy required

• Laurie (4/5): - The steep stairway to reach the entrance is super dangerous. The steps have old, deteriorated lips. I tripped and fell and got a bloody hash on my foot. I was suppose to have a parking permit upon arrival but there were apparently none left. I was assured it wouldn’t be an issue. While trying to obtain a bandaid for my injured foot, we received a parking ticket five minutes after arrival. The reception was pleasant about it, apologized and told us they’d pay the ticket. But this was an unpleasant start to our short stay. I limped around Glasgow the next couple of hours in search of bacitracin. The room itself was clean enough. Way overpriced though. And the breakfast - was done on the cheap. I wasn’t comfortable taking anything from the continental area as it gave me unclean vibes. A huge jar of Nutella instead of individual packets. Strange tasting canned fruit. I was anxious to leave the basement area where breakfast was served. Surrounding area wasn’t great either. You have to walk down a steep hill to get to the general shopping area. Reception was pleasant and tried to be helpful. I would not stay here again. And if you have a physical disability, stay away from here!

• ANGELA (8/5): Not best for solo traveler - Great location, city center and public transportation walkable. I had a very small, single room but was disappointed that I had to walk down a flight a stairs to the shared bathroom. Had some issues with the TV which staff took care of quickly.
• Heather (6/5): - Property is surrounded by the art school, boarding school and primary school. There was noise late and early. It’s off the beaten path and is not the most comfortable.
• Verified traveler (6/5): Disappointing - Even though the location is a bit out of the centre it is still only a about a 10 minute walk away, it seemed to be pretty quiet at night as well considering how close it is to the night life. We were welcomed by a lovely gentleman to the premises. We were staying in a double room which was pretty much what you would expect; bed, toilet, shower, kettle and a tv. The toilet seat was broken so not sitting on the bowl properly, handle on the shower door was broken, shower itself was dirty, duvet was ripped. I dropped a mug on the floor which shattered (reported it to the desk straight away and had to pay £5 to replace a white ikea mug) the replacement mug that I was given is pictured. I’m not one to usually write reviews about somewhere I stayed but I just feel like this place held incredibly high standards for its guests as a lost key was £10 as well as a damaged towel, broken mug was £5. Obviously I understand that having a charge in place will most likely minimise the chances of it happening and means you’re not totally at a loss if it does but the fact that the staff/owners do not uphold the same standards is incredibly disappointing especially for the price I paid for a nights stay.
• Mary (8/5): Very good, lacking in comfort. - Very good service particularly at brekfast. The downside was regards to the pillows on the bed which can only be described as being like solid blocks.
• Kirsten (10/5): - The breakfast was great and the staff were incredibly warm and friendly. I ended up upgrading to the ensuite room and it was very clean and tidy. Fast, reliable wifi. Couldn't ask for more!
• Rob (8/5): Gig weekend. - A perfect place to stay for gigs at the garage and for the centre of Glasgow. Be aware for those with disabilities or who can't walk far thst the hotel is up steep incline and has steps up to the entrance. Service was excellent and they even offered to move my bag between rooms while I was out.

• linda (8/5): Overnight stay. - Stayed here for one night only. Room was small with an en suite loo and shower. Fine for us. All was clean. Coffee facilities and soap and shampoo. No air conditioning but left the window open and turned off the radiator. Lovely breakfast included. Only negative was it was an up hill walk to get to but thats not the fault of the hotel but mine for not enough research. Would stay again.

The only problem we faced was in bringing heavy bags from the station. We had noted the distance on a map, but were unaware of the steep inclines leading up to the hotel.

The front desk staff was friendly and they allowed us to store our bahs when we arrived too early for check in. The hotel is a close walk to the many pubs and restaurants on Argyll St. and the kelvingrove art gallery. I wouldn't reccommend to anyone with mobility issues, many stairs and hills in the area.

• Verified traveler (2/5): - Although it was booked with “payment on arrival@, the hotel tried to make me pay upfront, threatening to cancel my booking otherwise. They did the same with a friend and actually cancelled her booking days before her arrival, just to offer her room for 6 times (!) the price because it was a busy period with hotels booked out in Glasgow. They also didn’t answer the phone when I tried to call to enquire about my reservation. Avoid at all cost.

• Morag (10/5): Little gem - Had a great stay here. Was about 5 or 6 years since we stayed and very surprised with the updated modern rooms. All done to very high standards. Tea and coffee facilities in room also hair dryer. Lovely Staff and very friendly. Excellent breakfast with great choice from cereal, fruit juice, yoghurt and fruit to full cooked scottish breakfast to eggs cooked to your choice. Plenty tea and coffee and toast. Early check in too but then obviously earlier check out. Good quiet location and easy cheap parking on the street. Overall very enjoyable stay and will be back. Definetely recommend.

• Verified traveler (8/5): A quiet location, yet close to the city sights - The location is slightly off the beaten track but still only 15 minutes or less from most city centre locations. The single room was a decent size and the hot and cold breakfast was more than adequate.

Movement sensor controlled the light in the shower room which was annoying when it went off while using the shower. The shower was under powered and lukewarm. Exterior a bit shabby.

The area is a wonderful location but has construction/renovation, but safe. However inside our room was quiet. The only thing we would have liked was a top sheet or a different fabric on the duvet. • Alexandra (8/5): Great Value for Money - Comfortable room, located close-ish the main strip in town. Spacious room, which was very clean, outside of the stains on the bedding. The radiator curtain hung so low it sat on the radiator, so we tied it up to ensure we wouldn't burn the place down overnight. Overall a very nice stay with great value for your money, as long as you don't mind having to walk a bit.

• Sachin (4/5): A low budget hotel - The room size is considerably small with no intercom or room service. This is a low budget guest house which one should choose only in dire need of saving money. The hotel main entrance is one level up so without elevator facility. So, if you are carrying heavy luggage/ suitcases, you would find it difficult to reach to the reception as well.

• V (6/5): Nice hotel with housekeeping issues - The hotel is located on a hill, so it’s a very long and arduous climb up if you’re hauling your luggage, so I suggest take a cab, über, or gett. All in all the room was fine and clean. No air conditioning, but there’s a huge window you can open to let in the breeze. We had some issues with housekeeping: - we were given a towel that was frayed and yellowish - shampoo was not given consistently twice - we were not given a hand towel twice - we were not given a bathroom mat a few times as well as regular towels
• Verified traveler (6/5): Not easy to get to withave all roads blocked. - It was okay not keen on breakfast. Ffelt it was cheap bacon sausage greasy egg old tomatoes and mushrooms.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel - This hotel was nice to stay in for 2 nights. Be warned it is steep to get to. Lots of construction in the area during my visit which made it slightly difficult to get to the hotel. The room itself was clean and big enough. The shower could have used a small wall shelf or caddy to help reach shower items brought in. The shower was quite narrow and hard to reach down and grab items to shower with. The bed was comfortable. The staff was kind and allowed us to store luggage before we could check in. Breakfast was good. A variety of cereals, yogurts, and cheese to select from and they also had a hot breakfast option. That was also good. The breakfast staff was efficient and kind.

• Caroline (6/5): Not bad not great - The food served at the inclusive breakfast was very good but for £157 for the night it was very disappointing to realize we were sharing a bathroom with another room. This was particularly difficult as the toilet and shower were in the same room. The room wax clean enough but very small and the bed was not very comfortable
• James (8/5): Have a nice climb. - Very clean, nice and friendly staff. Close to all the amenities on Sauchiehall Street. Only downside is not disabled friendly, lots of steep steps up to front of hotel from street and steep steps inside.
• Paul (10/5): Excellent value :) - Lovely newly fitted room, comfortable bed, desk and chair perfect for working or having a bite to eat. Really good room rate and great nights sleep. Only issue was the 10:30am check out. In my opinion it's too early. Other than that excellent. Would highly recommend.

• p (8/5): - Was in Glasgow for Stag & Dagger festival and this hotel was close to most of the venues. The connecting roads from Sauchihall Street to Renfrew Street are pretty steep - suited fine for May however would think again if it was icy. Price good, wi-fi good, comfy bed and accommodating lady who cooked a nice breakfast (included in price) - cereals etc also available. Hotel is up some steps and breakfast room is in basement (via steps) so wouldn't suit those with limited mobility. The young man at front desk/check in was helpful in looking online for one of the places I wanted to go to. Would happily stay there again.

• Richard (8/5): Reasonable cheap option in Glasgow - This place is pretty cheap, so you need to adjust your expectations accordingly. It isn't luxurious, but it's comfortable enough. It's fairly central, and it allows for check-ins up to midnight which can be handy if you've arriving late in the day as I was. The breakfast was nothing special, there was a bit of competition to get into the shared bathrooms, and the view from my cellar room was of a brick wall. But as I said, it's cheap, and reasonable enough value. I would stay here again, though if it had rooms available I'd suggest you stay in the Victorian House Hotel instead which is similar price, similar location (about 50m away) but slightly nicer, with a better breakfast, and also usually available on Hotels.com.
