Guest Reviews
- Winslow (8/5): -
- Robert (4/5): - Lovely spot next to water overlooking harbour ,close to resturants and bars Noisey at night with incessant bird chirping in trees
Dive compressor start at 7am ,neighbours dogs barking
- camilla (9/5): beautiful location and friendly staff! - We stayed in the cottage, its was perfect for what we needed, super close to everything and a short walk to the closest beach and only 35min walk to cannon beach! staff were super friendly and had a lovely view of the little dock area. there was even a little sound bath paddle board session we saw one evening which we would have love to have attended! liads to do and staff from sailing/sports center were incredibly friendly! they organised a driver to collect us for the airport and was just a lovely experience! could be a little loud in morning due to being right next to the center for scuba/activities but we were normally out and about by then! would highly recommend staying here!
- James-Pennyfeather (1/5): Poor - Location was good Everything
- Sari (9/5): - Perusvarusteltu toimiva huone, jossa oma keittiö, vesss sekä suihku. Todella rauhallinen, ja lyhyt kävelymatka kaupoille tai ruokailemaan.
- Anna (6/5): If you’re on a budget this place is good! But you need a car to get around. - Quiet, some places to eat nearby Too far to the beach for me
- aubron (5/5): -
- Steve (8/5): - Overall very good 👍🏾 🤔
- Inga (6/5): Acceptable - It’s walking distance to Nelson dockyard and beach It’s a side business so nobody really pays much attention . And at night I was totally alone in the whole building
- Sara (1/5): Bad - Unfortunately, it was the worst accommodation I've stayed in. The location was the only thing that was perfect. Cleanliness was not even close to the minimum standards. Full of dust everywhere and stains in every piece of fabric. In 10 days, they only cleaned a couple of times and changed the rubbish bin once, which was full and stinky. Also what you see in the pictures are a mouse poo, we saw it in the room. It was eating our food and leaving poo everywhere, kitchen dishes and even our clothes. They only came with a solution ( rat traps) the day we were leaving. The shower takes ages to have hot water and its impossible to adjust so you either have boiling water or cold.
Very little appliances in the kitchen. Not even enough for cooking and everything is rusty and bery old. This place, generally talking wasn't pleasant at all.
- Avni (8/5): Very good -
- Rosemary (9/5): We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here; it made a relaxing base in a very desirable location - The staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a bonus being based at the Sailing Academy; we were able to hire a kayak and swim off the jetty. It was lovely sitting outside watching the boats and activities. There was a good choice of restaurants and supermarkets within walking distance as well as the historic area and a couple of nice beaches. The accommodation was good value for the cost and provided all that we needed. The road was quite noisy, though it did quieten down at night-time, and the hot water supply for the shower took some getting used to.
- Daniele (10/5): Perfect location to visit the best of Antigua - Our stay was fantastic! The hotel is located in the heart of a perfect area for water sports enthusiasts, with direct access to the pier, ideal for scuba diving. The location is really quiet and convenient to visit the best of the island, but also walking distance to the main attractions of English harbour. the free parking was a huge plus. The room was spacious, with a small kitchenette. The check-in and check-out were smooth and hassle-free. We were also really impressed to learn that the hotel’s revenue goes towards funding sailing courses for kids. A truly positive experience that I highly recommend to everyone! Lots of mosquitoes but not room fault! Bring repellent
- Deborah (7/5): Good -
- Marsh (6/5): Was perfect for what I needed, missed having a kitchenette though, - Fabulous location , good wifi Beds are uncomfortable, no kitchen
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Nicola (8/5): Great location, friendly helpful staff - Location Our apartment ‘Omega’ was very basic with a view over the water tanks - would recommend booking one of the other brighter apartments which have a newer bathroom.
- Ed (8/5): Very good - Great value spot with own front to harbour and great views A short walk into the centre but that probably helps it be quieter
- Richard (6/5): I enjoyed my holiday. - The location of the site was very good for what I wanted to do and most importantly the staff were excellent - extremely nice and very very helpful. I am afraid the facilities were more far more basic than I had expected. Bathroom and toilet were separate (posibly shared?) from my room and the temperature controls to the shower were temperamental. The room walls were thin so much so that I could hear next door's phone conversations. Most concerning was the state of the electric supply. The one socket was duk-taped to the wall and I was not convinced of its safety. Trying to run my UK appliances was impossible which was particularly unsatisfactory given I am a CPAP user and need it to regulate my breathing during sleep. Fortunately there were USB connections to charge phone/ipad.
- John (9/5): Superb - Splendid location, very friendly staff, good cafes and restaurants very close
- Lynne (7/5): Good - Location
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good -
- Alex (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (7/5): Excellent value for money -
- Adrian (6/5): Pleasant -
- Brian (7/5): I liked the quite location, and it delivered at the right price - Quite location Coded door locki like the venue very much, it was what I needed in the right place and right cost..
- Martina (9/5): Superb - Very peaceful place. Very friendly people.
- Nige (8/5): Generally very good. - Good aircon, good fridge, very nice location. Water delivery from the shower could have been better!
- Elizabeth (9/5): Excellent location and very friendly staff. - Excellent location and good size self contained studio apartment.
- Samuel (10/5): Peaceful & Relaxing - The Lodge was a beautiful small community run accommodation with direct access to several activity companies of site of the sailing club grounds where it is situated. The money made from bookings is put towards paying for local children to learn how to swim and sail for free - essential skills to help with getting work on boats on the island. The rooms were simple and just what I required for 2 weeks away from corporate life to switch off. Highly recommend staying here. N/A
- Matthew (8/5): Very good -
- Simon (9/5): Great location, lovely people and a great cause. - Great location and the room was exactly what I thought. These rooms are let to support the sailing academy which provides sailing for children on the island and the location is convenient for the harbours. It's basic, but that's all I needed once I'd stocked up from the local shop. Not sure I should share this, but they are building new chalets that overlook the water and I look forward to trying one out next year! Nothing I didn't like but if there was a cafe for breakfasts or a bar it would elevate the 'resort' considerably. There may be plans to include such with the new rooms.
- Dave (5/5): Passable - No hot water and very little water for the duration of my stay
- Gianmarco (8/5): Generally happy - Very nice people, great position. The price is too hight for the structure it is.
- Rosemary (7/5): Good - Nice location, walkable in to the village. We went during low season so not as many places open but in high season there's lots of restaurants etc to choose from.
Took a kayak out from the jetty around the harbour and over to a sandy beach nearby. Couple of jetties where you can sit and watch the pelicans fishing etc. The light in the communal hallway shone through the bedroom door and we couldn't find the switch for it anyway. Also no curtain in the kitchen window - could see straight in from the street and have to walk through the kitchen between bedroom and bathroom, particularly with the light on at night.
- Christopher (7/5): the room could be so much better with just a little bit of furnishing, hooks for towels, etc , however even without hot - good location near the port no hot water during my visit and very basic
- Antony (9/5): A great base to enjoy English Harbour - nice clean apartment with everything you need a short walk away, and very friendly and helpful staff
- Paul (7/5): Good -
- Emily (9/5): Superb - Location perfect, support was great seeing as our flight was delayed and we didn’t get to the Lodge until late, but staff still picked up the phone and helped us with check-in! Can’t fault it, especially as it was the best value accommodation we found in the Marina area. Thank you for contributing to a perfect holiday!
- Colin (4/5): Disappointing -
- Jacqueline (4/5): Good Location - Disappointing accommodation - needs attention. Hosts were almost non existent. - The location was great, nice and central for English Harbour, nice view over the harbour. We understood it was a Yachting School/Charity and Diving Centre before we booked, what we didn’t know was that we would be woken at 7am every morning by the instructors getting the equipment ready for that day and schooling the people literally right outside our room, we weren’t even able to open the curtains as they were just outside the window. The photos do the room justice this was not the reality. We tried to make the best of it by moving the little table and chairs outside to have breakfast (the photos show a nice bench and table - these were no where to be seen) it made us feel very uncomfortable as there is zero privacy. There was no security whatsoever and we felt quite vulnerable. The key for the room was left on the table as host instructed, however, we arrived in the pitch black and had to wander around using our torches on our phones to see where our accommodation was, I recognised the chalet and tried the door and managed to let us in. The hosts didn’t even bother to introduce themselves, or check if everything was ok. The only contact we had was when there was no water. This accommodation is probably OK for back packers or similar.
- Tfiets (9/5): Superb - The location is really good. Supermarkets and restaurants right next door, very close to beautiful beaches such as Pigeon Point and Galleon. The rental of 2 mountain bikes at Bike Plus Limited , Independence Drive, Camacho Ave, St John's,
made our holiday complete. Absolutely recommended to rent bicycles and explore the island. Excellent service.
- Christopher (10/5): Great value for money, welcoming staff, comfortable beds! - only a few steps from Falmouth and English Harbour.
- Laura (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): Perfect retreat. Great alternative to multinational all inclusive hotels. - The National Sailing Academy in Antigua is a one off. By staying there, you get to support its mission to make sailing available to all children on the island. Like everywhere in Antigua, the people are warm and genuine with thanks to Emma for looking after me. The accommodation is functional and comfortable with everything you need. Sandra makes you so welcome at the onsite Island Fusion restaurant which serves a good variety of high standard meals throughout the day. Breakfast overlooking the moorings is especially recommended, watching the dive school preparing for the day. Return in the evening for great views of the sunset over English Harbour. The location is good for exploring English Harbour, which is lively in season, and its nearby beaches. If you're feeling adventurous, there is a bus stop nearby for a trip to St John's. Shout out too to Skullduggery and sitting on the dock of the bay with a glass of house rum. Nothing
- Beverleyg (7/5): Nice for a short stay, with good basic facilities. - Cute looking, handy for English Harbour. The cottage is immediately adjacent to where people get ready for dives. Some of these are very early starts and noisy. Whilst a good location in general, it wasn’t relaxing.
The room is very dimly lit. You have to keep the curtains closed due to lack of privacy with seating area outside the window. The lighting inside really was not great.
- Sal (10/5): Exceptional - The harmonious feeling between the people that run the sailing academy and the people that use the facilities. We were also made to feel very welcome indeed by Emma and Kate . I'm so happy that the payment for our accommodation went towards teaching the children to sail . Bless 🙌🏻 Nothing at all
- Lorna (10/5): Exceptional - Was met at the property on arrival by Emma, who very kindly showed us to our rooms. The rooms are basic but very clean and comfortable; all you need really with linen and towels changed frequently. Everyone onsite was extremely friendly. Emma and Kate are both lovely, welcoming, knowledgeable, helpful and approachable.
The facilities are great and even more so when you become aware that the money from your stay at The Lodge is helping to fund local Antiguan children to learn to sail. The program for disabled children is fantastic with swimming lessons and Sailing. They have a small pool/jacuzzi to help disabled children learn how to swim which as guest we could use in the evening and in a stunning location overlooking the harbour.
The Lodge has a very relaxed and welcoming feel. The Lodge has lots of outdoor space and seating areas. Paddle boarding, Kayaking and Sailing Lessons available at a great price. Onsite parking if you have a rental car.
- Amy (8/5): Great location, very friendly hosts - Great location in English Harbour with everything around we could possibly need. Emma sent the most comprehensive advance information outlining everything which was great, and responded instantly to messages on arrival, giving us a lovely friendly welcome in person later too!
The room was very spacious, with plenty of storage, very powerful air con and a great fridge. Very soft beds, which was not our preference, so to be aware of! Only one shared bathroom, but it was spotlessly clean.
It was very quiet and we enjoyed lovely picnic breakfasts on the beautiful terraces by the sea.
We walked to Pigeon Point beach everyday which was a definite favourite, and even though the onsite restaurant was closed, as well as some in town (low season) we had plenty of options to eat and drink nearby.
- Ella (9/5): Superb -
