Guest Reviews
- JACQUY (2/5): - Terrible, no water to shower.
- Berline (10/5): - The servers were attentive and welcoming. I look forward to return
- Roland (8/5): - It's a very nice old hotel Hotel.
- Lisebethsa (8/5): - Beautiful property filled with rich history. Convenient location in Cap-Haitian! Walking distance from everything. Only Cons I had were mosquitos and small flies in the room and the shower head was broken.
- Marie (10/5): Paradise in OKAP - My stay was excellent. The staff was well train. Belinda was very nice and tried to satisfy my needs. What I like the most is the environment. I did not have to go outside to have a good time. I already recommended it to some of my friends.
- Raphael (6/5): - Well located in town. Nice grounds.
Rooms are a hit or miss. Within 2 weeks, 2 stays, 1 room was very spacious and nice, the other one was tiny, cramped and with a super soft terrible bed.
For the price, you would expect A/C more hours but very limited in super hot weather during the day and was turned on only around 7pm to 6 am at nights.
Restaurant food is excellent, good portions, super tasty. Well worth it.
Drinks are reasonably priced.
- Kenneth (10/5): - very quaint place
- WISLET (8/5): Like it - It was amazing
- Jose (8/5): - Service acceptable
- Julien (6/5): - Like the room ,did not the food.
- JAMESLY (10/5): - It is a historical hotel. I enjoyed my time everytime I stay there.
- WOOLLEY (6/5): - Some of the bar staff was rude and behind the hotel has a dirty canal which created unlimited amount of mosquitos.
- Maritza (10/5): - It was a great place to stay
- Oxana (8/5): - Old boutique hotel in colonial style. Convenient proximity to the airport.
- Kenneth (10/5): - building and grounds seemed appropriate and fit in with a Haitian/Caribbean setting. The place looked like it was supposed to look.
- Stephanie (10/5): - This hôtel beautiful and clean❤️❤️
- Hudjy (4/5): - I’ve stayed at this property a few times before over the past 10 years. It got more expensive, but the service hasn’t caught up to the exorbitant price. I got to the hotel early at 10am, and was told check-in was 2pm, which was fine. I was able to leave my bags and went to explore. At check-in time, I was told I could come in but no towels were available yet until later on, they were still being washed. There were mosquitos in the bedroom, water drop coming from the ceiling. The TV and electricity worked ok. The WiFi was ok, in some specific spots. The location is good. The front desk staff was very unprofessional, even got super angry at me because I cancelled a taxi pick-up shortly after I placed it. Might you, the taxi pickup with their people was 8 times more than regular taxi you can get right outside, which I only learned about after they told me the price. Last but not least, I was attacked by a dozens of bees, got sting everywhere in my body, just walking toward my room. There was no notice about bees on the property. Some of the staff rushed in to help. A terrible experience overall.
- Leonid (4/5): - Friendly staff
- Jenny (10/5): - The Glen next to the Hotel.
- HUGH (10/5): - Hotel Roi Christophe is a beautiful oasis in a busy city that can be chaotic. I have stayed here many times.
- Leon (10/5): - It was a beautiful garden and peaceful place .
- Saudly (8/5): - Mud and in the streets
- Dukens (4/5): Bad hotel - You can't reach the hotel via telephone
They don't answer. Room wasn't ready upon arrival, toilet wasn't working. Receptionists are rude, on their cell phones and you need to wait for them to finish their conversation. 2 beds requested but only had 1 small bed for 2. No towel provided. No bottle of water. Power was out in the middle of the night. No.Tv in the room. No light in the toilet.
- Jean (10/5): - I like everything
- Princelot (10/5): - Property interior has poor upkeep and very outdated. Damaged water fixtures, broken appliances, no microwave, signs of water damage. But exterior is excellent. Very safe and helpful staff. I love it though
- CAROLINE (6/5): - Staff was very nice but hotel needs to be renovated urgently
Also they should have some complementary product for mosquitoes
- Luc (10/5): - I enjoyed it. Excellent staff. Even though the phone was removed from my room and never put back. Amazing breadfast. Special thank you for Carmene the front desk employee. Thank you to all the gentlemen that assisted us during the breadfast time. I will stay there again during my next trips. Special thank you to my cleaning lady. My bathroom needs a socket immediately. Thank you to all. I loved it
- jennifer c (10/5): - Pool
- Junior P (4/5): - too much noise and the bed was not comfortable and long wait to have without offering any sweets. I hope do better in the future thanks
- Islande (10/5): - There wasn’t any hot water in the home I was.
- Lorenzo (4/5): - I did not have a good experience with the place cause as soon as I get in the room there was a water leak in the bathroom contacted them they acted like I was being a problem for doing so and there were no towels at times the sheet were not being removed they just fix them the air conditioning is on a timer even if you are hot u have to wait for their time and lot more
- Lorenzo (4/5): - Stuff we're nice but they could not provide the best service cause of limited supplies
- Dudley (10/5): - All employees were very nice and also ready to assist people in our needs , every Saturday night have a Dj by the pool, I really love this place
Everyone must stay there.
- Rood (6/5): -
I recently stayed at this hotel and had a mixed experience. The exterior is quite nice, featuring many spots where you can sit for a drink or get some work done, which I found quite pleasant. The staff were friendly and accommodating, making the check-in process smooth and welcoming.
While the overall cleanliness of the hotel was satisfactory, the maintenance left much to be desired, particularly in the rooms. Unfortunately, the rooms did not reflect the charm of the hotel's exterior. The facilities provided were basic, and the bed was not comfortable, which affected the quality of my sleep.
Given these points, I would recommend this hotel primarily for solo travelers looking for a short stay. The charming exterior and friendly staff are highlights, but the rooms and facilities could use significant improvements to match the overall appeal of the property.
- Levitique (4/5): - Wasn't looking good
- Nicole (10/5): - I booked the hotel for my dad he loved it everyone there was so sweet they made him feel like home I will definitely recommend this hotel
- JAMESLY (10/5): - Historical buildings
- Stephane (10/5): - The front desk was not as welcoming. The best thing about my visit was at the breakfast where the staff was extremely friendly and helpful .
- Jean Robert (4/5): - The property was not too clean for the price. Outside was very dirty and noisy, smells all around. There was a lot of mosquitoes in my room.
- Robeans (10/5): - the experience was good, but the breakfast, if you don't go quickly you won't get it, the customers won't let you get it, the breakfast is so good
- Darline P (2/5): - No AC it super hot in this country
The ac use just for 4 hours in middle of the night
Last night no Ac at all I don’t sleep and I can’t live door open for fresh air cause of mosquito bite
They really need some new management
Who ever responsible are not doing there job
This hotel is to nice to be like that it was my first and will be my last
I just fall for the beautiful pictures online that’s why I choose it but worse service ever
- JAMESLY (6/5): - Historical building
- Oxana (8/5): - Nice and friendly staff
- Valery (8/5): - N/A
- Pierre (8/5): - Great experience
- Lauture (4/5): - No Air conditioning, room very hot, muskitos, staff was not available when needed. No breakfast was ready until I left the hotel at 9.30 Am.
The room was flooded during heavy rain. I was charged $224 for the night.
- Davidson (8/5): - Clients should be aware that there are some basic stuff like potable water in quantity that is not available. But overall the service was good. Highly recommended.
- Suze (8/5): - I really like the safety, the breakfast menu and the server staff . But, the customer service needs to be rethought.
- Jeannette (10/5): - Garden , goid Breafast
- Marie (8/5): - Good
- GUYLLIANO (4/5): - The room was full of mosquitoes because the balcony door was left open. Even though we left the AC on very low, the mosquitoes did not leave room.
The room also smell stuffy.
- Reynalden (6/5): - This hotel is a very nice historic place, the staff is very friendly except the owner of the place who doesn't even greet her guests whole she's always around. Food choice is very limited. Rooms are clean but they don't offer iron and microwave.my room was just next to a canal and the smell was very disturbing. Our last night was crazy it rained the whole night when we wake up in the morning the room was flooded I'm glad we left early that day because this was insane
- Falonne (2/5): - The people
- Wesley (2/5): - Only one personel was qualified .. her Name Is Carmelle
- MOISE (8/5): - It’s a nice place
- Godofredo Jr (8/5): - I like the the attitude of the staffs. I don’t like the electricity service
- LauraMali1980 (2/5): Totally overpriced - This hotel is probably the most overpriced hotels I have ever stayed at.
For the impressive price of 160 USD, the hotel only provides electricity from 7 pm to 2 am and then again from 6 am to sometime in the morning (I left during the day for work, so I am not sure when they turn it off). Also, a horrible smell pervades the lobby and outside areas (including the pool), coming from the sewage somewhere close by, and the smell is around every day.
Finally, the hotel is next to a bar area, and it usually very loud.
Do not stay here.
- Marie (10/5): - The hotel is beautiful & huge and it base on historic, the pool is nice breakfast is great I wouldn’t even talk bout the staff they’re awesome specially for camela in the front desk she’s a sweetheart I have nothing bad to say bout the hotel it was my husband first trip to Haiti and he enjoyed his self 10/10
- Robeans (2/5): - I had a bad time, I didn't get hot water to take a bath, the wholesale service was not good for me
- Daphney (8/5): - Good: I like the hotel very cozy and some of the staff were excellent specially the cleaning team Rocked. Good food
opportunities: lunch or dinner are little expensive. We felt like we were spending more than the States. We can here all the noise’s from outside and other guests’ room.
Other than that our stay was nice.
- Adler (10/5): One of Cap-Haitien Best Hotel - Great Stay for a quick trip to Cap-Haitien. Love the decoration and the service.
- Gracia (8/5): - That was ok just more work on de electricity
- Luc (10/5): - Nice place to stay for vacation.
- Harris (4/5): - Likes: Conveniently located close to the strip of restaurants and bars. It has a restaurant and bar on premise. Free complimentary breakfast. Also the garden, grounds and pool area is nice.
Dislikes: TOO MANY TO WRITE THEM ALL. Customer service is poor. There should be someone Bi-lingual working at the front desk at all times. Simple asks like borrowing an iron to iron clothes or a cup of ice seemed like an inconvenience when asked for. My Stay was for 6 nights but I checked out after 5 nights due to my experience. The sink was stopped up from the entire 5 nights even though I made many requests to have It unstopped. It took asking 4 different staffers and over 1 hour for someone to come to clean the pool that had a lot of debris and pollen in it while there is staff in plain sight standing around doing nothing. With this hotel It’s like if the person is hired to do one specific thing that is all they are going to do. I went to the lady at the front desk for a bottle of water because the bar was closed or closing. She left the front desk to find someone who works at the bar area to get me water when the bar was just a few feet away from her. There were so many other instances like this. I don’t normally write reviews like this but I am hoping that the management will see this and make some changes for a better customer experience.
- Luc (10/5): - Everything was perfect with the "Hotel Roi Christophe". The staff was helpful, friendly and knowledgeable.
- Edy (10/5): - It's safe
- Osny (8/5): - Thanks it was great experience they take care of us good
- Marceau (2/5): -
Room was not convenient. There was no blind on the doors. no a/c, no water. Lights reflect inside the room and disturb me to sleep. It was a very bad experience for me.
- Sean (10/5): - Great oasis near the center of Cap Haitien. Staff goes above and beyond to make guests comfortable. We were there during a severe shortage of gas and numerous demonstrations. Somehow they kept the generator going most of the time (off in the afternoon). Owner was even able to find some cash for us, as ATMs and banks were not working. Safe and comfortable during a difficult time for Haiti. Would recommend!
- Remy (2/5): - The restaurant staff was very friendly but the maintenance is less than zero, every day there is no electricity from 3am until 7 am .
- Virginie (10/5): - Feels like home! Very clean, and professional, friendly staff.
- Leyna (10/5): - I loved the placed.
- Falonne (10/5): - People nice
- Jerry (2/5): - Room service is ok, but the security check is very poor
No one question you about your room number or anything else just opened the gate and drove in
Need a lot of changes
- Walkens (8/5): - Trees
- Josey (2/5): - I'm don't like the room to small and no elevator
- Gregory (10/5): - In the heart of the city, near the boulevard where you can find many restaurants and bars!!
- Hazel (4/5): - The room that was supposed to be an executive class type room was no more than a "regular" mattress (1) and not even a Queen size nor the king bed I was supposed to have. The shower was broken tile with stained mildewy prints and mold stains on the ceiling and wall of the bathroom; mosquitos we all over and biting because of the moisture in the bathroom; loud music was played into the night! The staff that served us breakfast each morning was "excellent"...the one thing that made the trip bearable! Otherwise I felt the value was way overpriced for what was given; my room should have cost 50.00 at the most for the condition of the room; continued blackouts of electricity, door knob to bathroom came off and no one came to repair it, cold shower water for most days! All of these things affected my enjoyment of the trip; only the service of staff for breakfast and cleaning the room was excellent; otherwise not very friendly or customer service oriented
- PETERSON (10/5): - I had great time in Haiti. The hotel staffs were very great, hotel food was very delicious, clean room and bar with the music was perfect and overall my experience there was amazing. I would definitely go back again.
- Walkins (10/5): - My stay was very good and the staff was very friendly
- Frisnel (2/5): - No hot water, home dirty, dirty towels and mosquitos.
- Falonne (10/5): - Good
- Amingo (10/5): - Everything
- Reginald (10/5): - The hotel is good, the staff listen the customer, I had a good experience and the breakfast was excellent in the morning!! Thanks for your service!!
- Guila (6/5): - Not good. No electricity, 2 hours during the day then the night, black out several time at night. no internet, some ver weak connection if in the lobby or seaying room but zero connevtion in the rosome staff was very rude and could not resolve some issues. The environement it great because of nice plants, seating area was very good.
- JEAN (6/5): - There was no welcome from the staff
- Walkins (10/5): - Very nice and secure
- Johnson (8/5): - The hotel was good
- GINETTE (8/5): Ginettc - This hotel needs a lot of work to be done when it comes to inside of bathroom, the tv didn’t work I went three times to the front desk I was told someone will come I never see anyone until I checked out
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Just couldn't use my phone , no signal in the room they put me, also lots of mosquitoes.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The space is really cozy! Love it!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The property and staff was very inviting. The property is beautiful and historic, one of my favorite spots to visit in Miami is Vizcaya museum and this property reminded me so much of it. Felt like I was staying there. I forgot I was in okap and that there was so much chaos going on in the city at the time that I was there. The food and drinks was amazing and the waiter was friendly and professional. I only stayed for the weekend. I regret that i didn't stay there during my whole stay. The only negative side was that the room was a little dated, however the rest of the property made up for it. I would definitely go back for a longer stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Exceptional hotel, and a true oasis in the middle of Cap-Haitien. Cozy, authentic interior, friendly service, excellent food and a beautiful garden.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I like the foods. And the front yard of the property the trees the flowers it is beautiful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very relaxing environment, clean and good amenities
- Steph (8/5): - Overall, I had a great stay! The hotel is secure because the security guard closes the front gate at a certain time. The hotel is near all the good restaurants and nightclubs. The pool was super clean and very pleasant. My only issue was there was no light on the premises during late night. Customer service was great
- danoeb2020 (10/5): I love ,love love it. - My stay was very peaceful, i felt safe, the customer service was on point, the food exquisite, the manager Sheila was so kind, she offered us a ride to the airport the day we were living because our car broke down, the staff was everything, the bartender at night OMG, overall great experience, i will definitely book with them again..❤❤❤🇭🇹😉
- Jordan (10/5): - It was a very nice experience. I would recommend it to all my family and friends.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I enjoyed the Roi Christophe monument and other beautiful things outside.
