The whole hotel does need a bit of an update, its not really accessible and its quite old school, from the bathroom all to the reception and eating area. The breakfast was rather minimalistic. There are steep hills and stairs to be walked to get to the breakfast from the rooms.

• Bianca (9/5): We would definitely return to the property. - The grounds were beautiful. We enjoyed the happy hour at the bar followed by watching the amazing sunsets. All the staff were wonderful. Nothing. We wondered how we’d do without AC in the unit but pleasantly surprised how cool it got at night with just the screen doors closed.

• Esteban (10/5): Recomiendo Hotel Montaña Monteverde - Las habitaciones son muy cómodas. Amplio restaurante y el bar está muy bonito. La ubicación del hotel y su maravillosa vista. Tienen un sendero con una laguna que es un plus valioso. Disfrutamos mucho la estadía y Monteverde. Resaltar la amabilidad de todo el personal y el apoyo con los tours. Recomiendo disponer de mayor información sobre el restaurante para almuerzo o cena en la habitación. Los restaurantes en Monteverde son muy caros, por lo que, podría aprovecharse aún más el restaurante.

• Catherine (8/5): Fantastic views in Monteverde - Great location with spectacular views, five minutes walk from a few restaurants. The hotel has grounds you can do walks around. Big room with a huge bed, really comfy and good quality towels. As previously said it's a little dated but in my opinion the views make up for it and the price reflects this. Lovely breakfast and dining room has the best views. Was a slight drain smell in room when we first went in but cleared really quickly.

Muchas aves en los mismos jardines del hotel Está un poco apartado para ir al pueblo de Monteverde, cadi tienes que coger el coche, pero hay restaurante en el mismo hotel

• Edwin (7/5): Ruim verblijf op een mooie locatie, veel technische mankementen. - De ligging en het uitzicht. De wc pot in de badkamer zat los. De wc bleef soms doorlopen met veel herrie. De raampjes in de kamer konden niet dicht.

• Mary Alice (9/5): Great spot other than the breakfast staff! - Comfortable beds, views, very good breakfast with many choices, and location within Monteverde. My husband and I booked two deluxe rooms (ours and another for our daughter & her husband) for six nights in order to visit our son and his family who are living in Monteverde, just about a 15 minute walk away. Our son, bringing his own coffee from home and eating nothing from the hotel, walked up to visit with us each morning at breakfast, but he was made to feel unwelcome by breakfast staff and we were all made to feel like we were possible thieves. One of the usual breakfast staff even seemed to begrudge allowing him a chair at our table!

Buffet style breakfast was good with enough options to choose from. Hotel staff was very freindly and accommodating. They gave us recommendations for attractions to visit and helped to book one. All was good.

• Sushama (9/5): Beautiful Views and Friendly Stay - We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Montana Monteverde. The room was spacious, very clean, and had gorgeous views that we loved waking up to. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming, which made our stay even more pleasant. The breakfast buffet was good with nice options to start the day. Overall, a comfortable and relaxing stay — we would definitely recommend this hotel.

Hotel is close to Monteverdi if you don’t mind walking up and down hills and also near the cloud forest. The reception staff were really helpful

Abbiamo chiesto di cambiare la stanza e la ragazza cortesemente ci ha offerta più varianti, ma purtroppo anche lì era lo stesso odore simile alla naftalina forte. Abbiamo lasciato sempre le porte del balcone aperte. Poi è’ diminuito molto, ma non è’ passato del tutto. Ma dopo, cambiando gli alberghi, abbiamo capito che molti usano questo detersivo o mezzo anti insetti?

• Suzi (10/5): An absolutely fantastic stay. I will definitely be back. - The rooms were large and ours had a patio with a view out over the small on property lake all the way to Lake Arenal. Absolutely beautiful! There was a small fridge, wine glasses, water glasses and coffee cups, coffee maker (espresso). The breakfast was excellent! Fresh tropical fruit, coffee, juice, eggs, plantains, toast, pico de gallo, and meat (I’m vegetarian so don’t know what kind, but my traveling companions who are carnivores enjoyed it!) Also, incredible pineapple jam for the toast. There were other options, but we had to keep asking for refills of the pineapple because we were slathering it on! Two for one cocktails in the bar for happy hour. The trail down to the lake was beautiful and the views out to Lake Arenal were fantastic. Of note: the staff were all exceptionally friendly and went out of our way to make us feel welcome. We stayed two nights (group of 8 in several rooms) and all of us want to come back. For lunch, highly recommend Stella’s (their passion fruit/mango pie is the stuff dreams are made of). The menu is wonderful and everyone loves their sandwiches. Across the street is a fabulous coffee roaster/coffee house (Cafe de Monteverde) that monkeys visit early in the morning. We went to Treetop for dinner and can’t really recommend it. Expensive and the food was pretty bad. The live music was great, though, so recommend it for beverages and ambience only. Also recommend Monteverde Brewing. Nice selection of beers and fun people. The only thing I can think of is that the tv is kind of small? We didn’t turn it on so it didn’t matter. Why go to Monteverde to watch tv?!? 😉
