Guest Reviews
- Christine (8/5): - The hotel staff service was very good, property itself needs a lot of maintenance, having said that we enjoyed our stay, language was a barrier, but we survived with google translate.
- Verified traveler (4/5): It's not good! Low Cost effectiveness. - It's not good! Low Cost effectiveness. High Cost, Old Facility, Poor Food, But Good View, Not Good Wifi Speed
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Suite room is quite spacious but sofa must be cleaned.
Breakfast is so poor that I usually go to buncha restaurant near the hotel even though I was given breakfast vouchers.
- Verified traveler (2/5): -
- JJP (6/5): - Chose this hotel because it was in the quiet area of West Lake. The rooms are very nice - but the breakfast was poor in terms of both choice and quality. They paid little regard to customer service and even could not supply a street map!.
It could be a fabulous hotel - the management needs a good 'shake up' and staff should be trained!!
- Sanminhhoang (6/5): Old facilities, paid for swimming pool - Bascially, the hotel is so so. Staff is okay, not totally friendly but still good.
The room is a little old. Swimming pool is inside but not free for people living there.
The food is nice, both Vietnamese and western cuisine
- PANG (6/5): A hotel near the lake - The lake view from my room was excellent, Walking along the side of the lake whether in the day or night is refreshing.
However, the walkways are not condusive as access to the lake from the hotel especially with the heavy traffic.
- Joseph (10/5): A splendid hotel - The service was wonderful and the staff was splendid. While it was a little far from the main area of Hanoi, it was right by a wonderful lake lined with all sorts of cafes and delicious delights.
- 163lilyb (8/5): Visited July 2015 (late review) - I like this hotel because their male receptionists were very helpful and professional. The breakfast buffet is fine. The only thing I find unusual is to find food at dinner time as it seems they don't serve dinner but am not sure because I didn't bother to ask. The location was confusing at the first time I arrived but since Vietnamese people are so helpful and with the lady I met on the plane who took care of me well I felt welcomed. I love my Hanoi travel experience all in all. The hotel room is clean and has a nice view of the lake and the people around the community here are so willing to help! I liked my stay here because I feel safe and taken cared of by the very nice gentleman staff at the reception. Thank you CWD and staff!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It's a government center for development and support of women in Vietname (or something like that)
The rooms need refurbishment as of 2017 but comfortable enough, very big and good views from the balcony to the lake.
- KWAN JIK (4/5): -
- JosieR372 (4/5): Decent facilities, poor reception staff - The facilities are nice enough, great views of hanoi from the top floors. The cleaners and servers at breakfast were friendly however when I got locked out of my room a man at reception said he would open my room for $100usd, thats more than what it costs to stay there one night. After I refused several times he then said he would contact room service to open the door. A crap end to an otherwise okay stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5):
- Untold (6/5): Basic Hotel with OK rating - The hotel look really old, the room is overall OK.
Good Point
1. They have balcony with nice sea view
2. Facilities/hotel room are clean.
3. The hotel staff is approachable and will assist you if you need anything.
Bad Point
1. The queen bed is really stiff and hard there is no cushion at all, you can feel every bed spring on the bed when you turn/move in bed.
2. The WiFi is unstable and slow, which is really frustrating.
3. The breakfast entitled buffet is daily repeated.
I gave a 3/5 star rating for this hotel, I think it can improve better.
- Michiel (6/5): Value for money for experienced Hanoi visitors - stayed here with my wife for a few days.
the location is a bit out of the city centre so not too convenient if you want to stroll around and visit the city (have to take taxi).
hotel is quite outdated and basic, with mold on the walls on places. big rooms, quite hard beds, simple breakfast and seems more tailored to local/domestic tourists. but the views (especially from the higher floors) are very nice. friendly and supportive staff
- terriw538 (4/5): CWD is a dive - We stayed at CWD for 2 nights. The photos looked very good but they did not live up to expectations. The place was a dive right from the get go. It was difficult at first to determine if it was actually a hotel or a business. We didn't get any help with out bags on arrival and we found it very difficult to talk with the reception staff about our booking. The room was alright for the price but a bit beaten up. The bed was hard and we woke up sore in the morning. WiFi is very poor in the hotel and bedrooms. The TV works okay. The pool was a dive! The glass doors to the pool were cracked and falling apart. The pool was out of action as they were sanding the roof. I am very surprised that they were doing this work during their peak season. We were going to leave after the first night as we were really unhappy with the hotel however we decided to carry on with our booking. I was pretty shocked to find out that I needed to pay to use the gym. Overall we had a very poor experience at this hotel and wouldn't stay here again.
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Li Kieng (4/5): Should not be classified as Hotel - Nice view of lake, that's all. Good air con.
Have to walk 300 m to get food, if hungry, but only during the day. I arrived late, nothing to eat, not even in the hotel.
Maps have to be purchased.
If big tour group stays in hotel, breakfast will be a nightmare. No seats, no food. The staff do not replenish fast enough.
Not recommended unless you have no choice.
- sureew (8/5): The best view of Hanoi. - I have been to Hanoi last December. The traveling was for 15 people from Thailand when I came to here, I was so surprise. The hotel area's so better cause side of a small Hanoi river.
I have got a reservation for 1 people from Thailand then I reached, I got a largest room. Inside has a living room and kicthen. So Breakfast was good also.
- Verified traveler (6/5): great view at great price - great view West Lake at bargain rates. Wifi a bit slow, but easy to connect multiple units. Steamy hot water with good pressure. spacious room. Breakfast was okay, coffee black & thick as oil, but good.
- BeccaScottNZ (8/5): Nice hotel off the beaten track - We really loved our room here it was nice and spacious with a good bathroom with one of those giant shower heads. I did find the shower would start to get cooler if I stayed in too long though.
The view we had from the 11th floor over looking West Lake was great!! There was free breakfast each day which was just average but they did have someone there to cook eggs etc. There was traditional Vietnamese food but nothing amazing. We found the best choice was the chicken noodle soup.
While you did need to get a taxi to go to old quarter, where a lot of the restaurants and shopping are, it only cost about 50,000 - 70,000 dong to get there. It was also nice being in an area less touristy and the lake was nice to walk beside.
It was also very close to the botanical gardens and from there not far to the Presidential Palace and the Mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh.
We were very happy with our decision to stay here.
