• Matias (10/5): Affordable hotel stay in Paris - Hotel Liberty is an affordable hotel that does the job near two main train stations. I've stayed there four times over the years due to being affordable & location next to the main train stations Gare D l'Est & Gare du Nord. Twin beds, small TVs, & sinks in your room. Decent, French customer service at front desk.
• Adam (4/5): - Incredibly dirty property with very limited facilities (1 toilet per floor). Had to sleep ontop of clothes as the bed sheets were blood stained. Also surrounding area did not feel comfortable to walk around in at night. Had to hand back keys whenever we left which made us fear for the security of our belongings. Amazing staff though who let us take our breakfast in a bag with us

• Peter (2/5): - We arrived in Paris late from Mauvais airport and had tried many times before 7pm to call the hotel to say that we would arrive close to midnight and please let us in. We received no response, no answer and as a result we had to spend the night (three of us) on hard chairs on the pavement outside a cafe across from the Gare du Nord. We had absolutely no sleep!
• Verified traveler (4/5): - We were allotted room no39 in 4th floor.There was no lift facility and we had to carry our luggage through steep stairs.It was really disappointing. We got bugs in our bed.Only 2 small towels were given and was not changed daily.Only plus point was behaviour of staff at reception. Breakfast was not at all good and that too very limited amount, no buffet system. We had to eat as per their choice. Location is somehow good.
• Amy (4/5): - Staff are very helpful and friendly. Great location close to metro stations and restaurants/cafes. The room is cleaned daily, but the general state of the property is terrible. It’s very old and not well kept. It does the job for the price, but I won’t be staying again.
• Vivienne (4/5): Very dirty showers and uncomfortable sleep - Cleanliness and efficiency is a major factor and concern. There is no cleanliness in the shower facilities or toilets - it’s very dirty. The beds don’t have thin cotton sheets on the inside, just hot thick sheets which is uncomfortable at times. There is no air conditioning system or fan provided in the room to reduce the hot temperature.

• Lina (4/5): Worse hotel - This hotel was absolute the worst in the world I ever stayed at. I actually had contacted Hotels.com because of it and I left one night early. It was filthy, disgusting and extremely noisy. There was no air conditioning so had to leave the windows open, which made it even worse. I don’t recommend this hotel at all.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Just not good enough - To be honest the one guy in the reception in the evening was really nice other then that it was a disappointing stay … bed bugs and dirty sheets, room and mouldy bathroom.. the fully sticks of Cigarette smoke, dampness and mould…… Too hot to sleep in the room without leaving the windows fully open

The room smells horrible, like smoke and dirt combined. I had to keep my windows open in the night to be able to sleep. Tge walls, carpets were also dirty. I got what I paid for 1 night in Paris. Other than this, my stay in Paris was pleasing !

I find bad bugs and crab louse. I will upload pictures of bugs. If you want to be disappointed from Paris stay at this hotel.
• Yolanda (4/5): - I was not expecting much from a cheap, 2 stars hotel BUT it was more disappointed than expected. At first I choose the room with bathroom and somehow they gave without it. I needed to pay extra money for the private bathroom. I have to say that the front desk was able to help me with the issue. Expedia photos are not even close to what the actual room and hotel is. The only good thing about this hotel is the location. It is walking distance from the train station and from multiple metro station as well as bus service. No AC and if you sleep with the windows open the street is really loud. You can hear absolutely everything around you, so be prepare for everything. If your main focus is save money in hotel and enjoy the city, and you are not looking for comfort sleep. this hotel might be a good option for you.
• Guillermo (4/5): - The staff is actually pretty nice and helpful, however… the actual rooms are a mess, very cheap and extremely outdated, the floors cave in the hallways, everything looks rusty… and this is coming from a very low maintenance person! the location is right next to a police station which is good, because the neighborhood is pretty sketchy in some parts. But the staff is really nice tho 😕
• Verified traveler (6/5): Basic - Nice enough staff. Inexpensive. Clean where it mattered but smelt strongly of smoke and in serious need of a refit. Even the top bedding. Dodgy area but convenient for access to main tourist attractions. My room gave me front row seats to the next door police station and seemingly the late night/early morning noisy arguments between officers and detainees.
• Jalle (8/5): Perfect location - I had 2 night stay in this hotel. Hotel kindly offered me to see more rooms as i was not happy with first option. Im not going to say that you are looking to stay in good hotel. The star rating 1 star is correct. Location is perfect in Paris, walking distance for centre. Rooms are old, dated and bit smelly. This hotel is for a person who wants to have a good location and don't care about anything else, friendly staff. I would stay again just because of price and location, thank you
• J (4/5): - This is a very old building with minimal amenities. My room was clean and had plenty of room for what I needed. For the value, it was an appropriate room/hotel. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The city view room looks out onto a noisy local street and does not give a view of any Paris skyline.

• Anonymous (2/5): - I don't recommend this place as they have bed bugs, on our first night we woke up to find out about these bugs, we talked to reception and they didn't seen surprise, were moved to another room but our stay was ruined as we were worried about the bugs, the are where the hotel is located is not the very safe, in our return we have to disinfect all our clothes.
• Vernon (6/5): - The best thing about this hotel is its location: very close from Gare de l'Est and with good metro connection. The bad things: quite run down, ONE shared toilet for a whole floor, ONE shared shower for two floors, the walls are rather thin, and I could hear my neighbour watching TV and then snoring. The room was rather cold, and the blankets provided were just enough not to freeze. I only stayed for one night and was ok, but I would definitely not stay for longer than that.
• Verified traveler (2/5): - It is horrible, there is no elevator (we were in the 5th floor!), the hotel is in a terrible location, the rooms are too old, there is only one bathroom for 5 rooms. I do not recomend for anybody.
• FreddyP (8/5): - The place is safe and secure (next to a Police Station). The staff is friendly and accommodating. The location is good; 10 minutes walking from a main train station; 5 minutes from the subway; 25 minutes walking from Palais Garnier. Facility is aged, no elevator, small or shared bathrooms, rooms smells to persistent smoke (smoking is prohibited) but place was "clean." Conditions of the facilities correspond to what we paid for; we MAY stay there again. They have an OK $6.00 breakfast.

Not convient to metro or coming from garde de nord. Would not recommend. Also can't help but construction began at 6 am down the street.

Breakfast is available (at 5E/day) and no cooking amenities on site, but when you're flying solo and your in Paris - only an idiot's going to want to stay in a hotel and cook.

The shared bathroom actually meant a shower on floors 1 and 4 only - not great for a hotel of over 40 rooms. There was also just one WC on each floor, so good job we didn't all want to go at the same time. On a positive note, it was a short walk from Gare du Nord and Gare de l'Est and a very handy metro station just round the corner (plus a few local supermarkets, restaurants and bars).
• Verified traveler (2/5): Bed Bugs!!!! - I was attacked by bed bugs and the welts are everywhere. Absolutely disgusting. Add that to the fact that there was no AC (not mentioned on listing) and this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. I want a refund!

Really designed for people travelling by car, even to the extent of having to enter via the carpark at the furthest end of the complex from public transport. Breakfast was good. I’d expect slightly nicer rooms for the price given it’s distance from everything. Also 3 fire alarms in one night and at no point did staff give any instructions to guests. Didn’t leave me with a great impression.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Good location. WiFi could be a bit poor, particularly in the mornings - at night it was fine. I knew from reading other reviews that I would need to leave my room key at reception each time I went out. I will say I have mixed feelings about this (though I had struck it in Brussels as well). Having worked in retail previously I know the sneaky tricks that can be played by thieves/ fraudsters. Not much of a problem with my clothes/ books as I don't imagine anybody wanting them, but a bit of an issue with items such as credit cards/ passports (especially!) - I wasn't leaving them in a room that could potentially be accessed by someone other than the cleaning staff.
• Tye (2/5): Bedbugs, blood and fecal matter. Blonde lady rude. - Bedbugs everywhere. Blood and fecal matter stain on the beds and curtains. I have bites all over my body from bed bugs and the receptionist is rude as can be. I've never met someone so rude in customer service before. Also your not allowed guests AT ALL and they shut off the wifi at midnight 12 am for some odd reason. They make you keep the key at the front desk and I heard from a couple guests their belongings had been stolen while they went our exploring. Do not stay here unless you want bug bites everywhere and to maybe contract scabies. Also I asked to switch rooms because of bedbugs and the lady made me pay 6 euros extra and then switched me to the room right beside the room I was staying in and then about an hour later she put someone else into my old room that I got bit by bedbugs all night and needless to say I still got bite by bedbugs in the new room.. I want my money back.
• Verified traveler (8/5): Yeah its ok for what you pay - Yeah was alright, didn't realise that the rooms didn't have toilets, or showers but use a shared shower / toilet. Yet they do have Bidets.Rooms very basic, had a TV (No English channels) but good for charging USB devices., we were on floor 4 & 5, so lots of stairs. Towels changed daily, beds made though only very small towels provided. WIFI didn't work for us, we could connect but do nothing else. Staff were pleasant enough and helpful when we asked questions. Location near the Gare d'Est is ok, close to some i would say rougher areas though we had no problems. I don't want to dissuade anybody really because it was cheap and did the job as a place to sleep and would use it again maybe but would probably look elsewhere 1st. It was as it looked and performed as expected for the price

The bed is filthy, the bathroom is shared and gross, didn't even think to use the shower. the floor is rotting. the area is pretty great and clsoe to the train station, but otherwise avoid at all costs.

• Verified traveler (4/5): not great - not at all what the photos looked like, photos showed an average room and we did not receive that at all. pics showed a shower AND a bathroom and what we got was no bathroom, no shower, and instead a bidet and sink right beside the bed. room was not very clean, almost no outlets, and the bed was not comfortable at all

• Verified traveler (6/5): - Is it the worst hotel I’ve stayed in? I mean, yes. But it’s also the cheapest hotel I’ve ever stayed in. Pros-no bedbugs, no mice, no cockroaches, staff spoke English, decent WiFi, walking distance of the louvre. Cons-my laptop screen is bigger than the TV, weird stains on carpet and walls and quilt, no elevator. If you stay here, you probably won’t want to stay here again. But, it will be an iconic experience.

• Patrick (2/5): Não Recomendo - Péssimo hotel. Sem elevador tive que subir 5 andares com mala sozinho. Pois não existe ninguém que possa ajudar. O banheiro é compartilhado. No andar de baixo. Um banheiro para dois andares. Banheiro lixo. Pequeno e imundo. Cama suja. Carpete mofado,sujo e úmido. A janela presa tive que chamar o recepcionista para abrir a janela. Internet de baixa qualidade. Café da manhã pago por fora que custa 6 euros um pão com café e leite. Não recomendo. Um lixo fui embora no mesmo dia. Impossível ficar dentro do quarto com o mau cheiro. Sem falar o mau atendimento,péssimos funcionários. Lixo, lixo, lixo.
• Verified traveler (8/5): - Ok. This is not the Ritz. At these prices it is never going to be. The hotel is in good location. The building is old and that’s where most of the bad reviews come from. It is old, and needs redecorating. The room was cleaned every day and new towels supplied everyday. Yes, the towels are small - so what? My closest shower was on another floor, but I knew that may be the case. Bed was ok for me. Breakfast at €5.50 was fine. On the whole - you get what you pay for. I’d stay here again with no issues.

There's no lift so if you stay at the 5th floor you will have to climb up the stairs yourself (staff won't help with your luggage at least). When you leave the hotel you have to leave the key with them (????). They turn off the WiFi every night, if you wake up before 6 forget about WiFi, unless you call them and they will tell you that you haven't connected properly. Very dark hallways during the night, uncozy and cold during winter.

Bed was rock hard, towels were a joke (bigger then hand towels but smaller then a bath towel), cleanliness was not great (room was acceptable clean but you could definitely tell it was quickly cleaned), Wifi didnt work well and shower was on another level. Price and location were good, however I'd recommend finding something a little further out that's next to a metro station if this hotel is in your price range.
• Marek (6/5): Poor hotel, but close to station Gare du Nord - Very poor condition of the hotel, toilet and shower were outside the room, need to share with others on the floor. The desk service was really OK, good English speaking & helpful.
• Verified traveler (4/5): Mice and moving - When I came home the second night of my stay there was a mouse in my room. The receptionist gave me the keys to an alternative room. Someone was actually staying in that room so I had to move again. I was put in a different room which later on also had a mouse in it. I had no food in my bag at all, despite the receptionist suggesting that was why I was having a problem with mice. They said there was nothing else they could do and that in Paris mice were common in hotels. The windows were left wide open each day after the rooms were cleaned, perhaps to try and get rid of the cigarette smell. I have read reviews about theft and with the windows being left like that I'm not overly surprised.
• Ankit (4/5): Better options available...this one is worst - Location is around 10-15 min walk from Metro station. The issues i faced during my stay are: 1.Congested Entry door..just next to the other room and difficult to open using the key.No lights in doorway. 2.Bedding is very bad and smelly..i was scared to use it. 3.Charging /Switch spot was broken and not working 4.Bathroom: Toilet was clean but Shower was broken and you can hardly fit in it 5.No hangars near shower. 6.Very Old rooms & Bad Ventilation. Good things: 1.Local area was fine its 5 min away from main road where lots of shops are there 2.Bus stand is 3-5 min walking Its cheap but add 10-20 Eur more and go for a better place.This is not recommended for a family at all due to surroundings which i felt is unsafe if exploring the city.

You definitely get what you pay for and if you have high expectations you may be disappointed. $50 per night for a private room in Paris was worth it to me even if the room smelled a bit musty. The staff was pleasant and accommodating.

It is a pity that there is no lift for the luggage....we stayed on the fourth floor. I am not usually fussy about hotels, but this one does need a little bit of upgrading for example the carpets can be replaced. But we still enjoyed our stay.
• Oliver (2/5): WARNING - BEDBUGS!! - THIS PLACE HAS BEDBUGS!! Do not stay here! I got bitten more than 30 times and it was one of the most uncomfortable nights sleep I’ve ever had in a hotel. Also the hotel has only 2 shower rooms for 40 rooms!! The nearest shower in 2 flights up the stairs. There is no lift. Also towels are far too small...you cannot even wrap it around your waist. Overall by far the worst experience in a hotel stay I’ve ever had.

• Victoria (8/5): Good for a budget hotel - pretty worn down, but clean. If you're looking for a budget hotel just to sleep in for a couple of days I would recommend but it is a very old building with no renovations done. Breakfast was great! We were there for 2 nights and it was great, but the hotel is definitely not for everyone, good location though we were able to walk to a lot of the sights!
• Adrian (4/5): Get what you pay for - If you're looking for a decent hotel, this is not it. If, on the other hand, you're looking for a hotel which is just going to be a base and you will spend little time in it then this is for you. It is a shared toilet and shower. I was on the top (5th) floor and there was no lift. 93 steps to the top. There was no shower on the top floor so I had to go to the 4th floor. An alarm sounded in the hotel at just gone midnight which woke me up. We were not evacuated but it went on for at least 5 minutes. This felt like a lifetime when you're typing to sleep. I would only recommend this hotel if you are not bothered as to where you stay. The problem was that all the other surrounding hotels wanted a minimum of £170 a night. This was £46. Unfortunately you t what you pay for!
• Verified traveler (2/5): Roaches and dust - Stayed here 1 night and saw 2 roaches and the room had a lot of dust that caused me to have some allergies. Would not recommend.
• keegan (6/5): Simple hotel . Handy location . Value !! - Pretty happy with the experience . Friendly staff, easy check in/out, very simple and no frills , but remember how little you are paying ! Bed was comfy , room was clean. Best cheap option if you plan on being out most of the day and only using the hotel to sleep

• Tom (8/5): Basic but comfortable, with good French breakfast. - It met my needs as a comfortable but inexpensive hotel for one night. The room had everything needed and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful in general. A French breakfast (with very good bread, croissant and coffee) was available in the morning for a small extra charge. My only criticisms are that the bedroom furniture was rather old and one light bulb did not work. (The staff were unable to replace it that evening, but that is unimportant. There was enough light without it.)

• William (8/5): Budget hotel, hood transportation links, friendly - This hotel was perfect for what it is. It's a budget option in city that allows visitors to link public transportation easily nearby. The staff was very friendly also and helpful. There's restaurants and stores around it so that helped also. Would recommend it.
• Ekaterina (4/5): - Bathroom was always wet and moist and I saw mold in the bathroom and also bed area. Bathroom fan does not work so the moist can't exit. The room quality is low, bathroom is very small and shower is even smaller. Good location and VERY friendly and nice staff, all very polite and helpful, but unfortunately the hotel itself is not nice. They definitely need to remodel this place. There are cracks and damages to the walls, especially in the bathroom area, which let water get in to the wall and create smell of moist and mold. Basic hotel, very nice staff, good location, poor room condition. I won't stay there again, only because the rooms were not good. Or may be this is typical in Paris. i compare it to the hotels in US which are nicer and cleaner and newer and more modern, for the same price or even cheaper price.
• Lynda (4/5): Cheap, good transport links but not comfortable. - My stay was not great as there were no lifts to our room which was on the 5th floor. The toilet and shower were out of the room with the toilet on the same floor and the shower on the fourth floor. The room was partially flooded and was damp and instead of two single bed as advertise it was a double bed. Will not recommend this hotel to an elderly or someone with mobility problems.

• Richard (8/5): Simple, good location, friendly staff - The Hostal was good value for money. It was in a good location of Eixample, good walking distance to La Sagrada Familia, the shopping square area, and Verdaguer Metro stop. Receptionists spoke good English, very helpful and accommodating. Facility required shared toilets and shower rooms, but they stayed clean. The building had old school lift system, but wasn't an issue. I love that I have a window in my room. I would patronise this accommodation again when back in Barcelona.
• Gemma (6/5): Not for everyone - Good location as easy to get on the metro to go to all main attractions. Meant to leave your key at reception when you leave or you get told off. Rooms have no plus sockets apart from the TV one walls are thin and can hear everything! I was hardly there so was fine for me but if you want to be in your room a bit or are going as a couple I wouldn't recommend this hotel as it's very basic and not pretty inside the rooms at all with mould on the walls etc and smells funny.

• Verified traveler (2/5): Insect ridden hole - My friend and I had to share a bed in a small room with no fan of aircon. There were small ants crawling all over the room. Staff weren't able to offer us alternative rooms or separate beds. Most disgusting experience of my life.
• Zoltan (8/5): Nice cheap hotel near the train stations - I staid two nights only in a single room with toilet on the same floor and shower one floor above. For the price I was positively surprised. It was simple but overall clean and airy (except the carpet), the staff were friendly, and the breakfast good value at 5,50 euros. Buses to the centre are around the corner, or you can walk. If you are on a honeymoon, this is not for you. If you're just travelling on a budget and can't find a cheap place in the centre, it's fine.
• Rajender (2/5): Waste to stay. - Room on 2nd Floor, Net speed was in KB.. less then 2GB. Staff was not cooperative in nay meaner.
• Aimee (6/5): Cheap and Cheerful - The hotel was comfortable and the staff were very helpful. I was slightly put off the hotel because we were not allowed to take our room key out of the hotel, this made me slightly nervous about the security of my belongings.
• Verified traveler (2/5): Terrible! - The room was filthy upon check in and it was very "sketchy." Would NOT recommend this hotel.
• Jun (2/5): Maybe one of the worst hotels in Paris - You can hear every noise in the next door. There is no elevator but the hotel staffs never help to carry luggage to the third floor.
