Sadly the lift was out of order for part of our stay. Staff happily carried out heavy suitcases down for us, so not really a problem.

The only issue was that the glass in the windows were not very soundproof and since we were right over Chulia street and next to a mosque, it did get a bit loud, but nothing that impacted our sleep too significantly. There was free ice cream which you can enjoy over the nice rooftop area. We were spoilt for choice at the breakfast buffet and it was a great way to start the day. Overall, it's a great stay in a central location.
- Ferdinand (8/5): Good hotel - worth the stay - We just had a night and really it wasn't enough. Check-In was basic with no fuss. We arrived an hr early but was told room wasn't ready and had to wait till 2pm. No worries there. Our room was suitable enough for 2 on a short stay. It was clean, tidy and with all the usual amenities. The buffet breakfast was good and quite filling with many East and West dishes. Hotel's location was spot on with lots of small shops and full stalls all around- also a number of pubs n clubs all in walking distance. My only gripe was reception staff were less then friendly and came across with a not interested attitude. But I think that's subjective. Dinning and rooftop staff though were great!! Overall we enjoyed our short stay. It's a good hotel and recommended.

- Chandler (6/5): Nothing special, location is the biggest asset - The location of the hotel is very good! Close to many places to eat and drink. The hotel had a nice rooftop that we had a drink at each night, which had a nice view. The staff were not so friendly and didn't seem to care about making our stay comfortable. There was an odd yellow and dripping stain on the wall by the bed and when we brought this to the attention of the girl at the front desk, she quickly cut me off and said she'd send the cleaning crew. They came to look at it, but never actually cleaned it or offered us any type of resolution. We were next to something which made noises all night. It sounded like someone was constantly hanging and rehanging clothes on a rack ALL night, each night we stayed. The location was great, but the hotel was average with less than impressive customer servuce.

- See Min (10/5): Improved! - Each time I re-visit with a stay in CM, I get more impressed with the service staffs there and not forgetting that the room lighting was a vast improvement from my previous stay. I'll be back!
- Paul (8/5): - Overall the hotel was very good.The hotels location was excellent as it is located on the main street where the nightlife is and close to all the small street eateries. The cleaning and breakfast was excellent and staff with the exception of front of house were very friendly and helpful. Special mention to the security door man and chefs who were always friendly, helpful and professional always had a smile. Its a pity the front of house staff were not the same. We found they would not interact unless prompted and sometimes still did not acknowledge you as they were more interested in they're phones than customers. Without this the hotel would have got an excellent. Hoping this can be rectified and I would recommend hotel to others.

Only negative was reception staff were not very receptive. There was no genuine hello as you walked in or out of reception. The staff tended not to make eye contact and kept their heads down.

Beds were firm but very comfortable and AC was quiet and effective. I like this hotel in almost every way except for one small thing which was unfortunate—the front desk staff seemed to show very little interest in their guests. Going in and out numerous times, we were never greeted or acknowledged—they just kept their heads down behind the counter. This was not the case with kitchen, dining area or cleaning staff. They were all excellent and friendly.

- Verified traveler (6/5): - Air conditioner in our room was not functioning well. It was too warm despite at 16° (set by hotel). Two other rooms at the same level had the same problem. Thank you to patient hotel staff who finally changed us to a room at another level which has good air condition. I was tired and sleepy from the travel hence quite disappointed with this waste of time. This is very different from my previous stay at Chulia Mansion two years ago which was super. The hotel management should ensure the air conditioning has proper regular maintenance.

- Kiatichai (8/5): An OK hotel in the middle of old town Georgetown. - It is an ok hotel with very good location near the old town. Breakfast is above average for the same price with very good mix of local and international choices. Everyday free drinks and ice cream was really additional good service. However, the staff especially at the reception(except one chubby guy) has no service mind and does not seem to be willing to provide any info . We checked in the first night at room#206 of which a/c not working properly and can only be changed the later night.
- Izah (10/5): Good vacation. - Good place to stay with many places to visits within walking distance. Only issue for Muslim tourists the hotel should have "kiblat" marker on the ceiling for Muslim to perform prayer in the room.

Lots of cafes and bars surrounding the hotel. Room condition are OK, toilet water pressure for showering are weak, shampoo are general dispenser type so advise you bring you own. Pillow are way too soft and flat imo. Free cookies and hot drinks at the cafe at non meals timing.

Hotel breakfast as said by every ppl is very good. Location is also good.

- Joannda (10/5): Practically Perfect! - This is an amazing little hotel!! So welcoming, friendly staff (special thanks to Khair at the rooftop bar for his excellent service), clean and with an amazing breakfast spread! The jacuzzi was a welcome break after a long day of exploring as was the ice cream and free drink at the bar. The only thing we would change is the firmness of the bed. We found it exceptionally hard but of course this is personal preference. If we come back to Georgetown this is definitely where we would come and stay!

And then as soon as you pass through the doors, you're right in the middle of some of the best restaurants and shopping in Penang.

Cons: shower head fell off the tube a few times. shower water pressure could be nicer. cleaning staff made the bed but didn't change the bed sheets. safe vault in the room didn't work; was missing batteries for the keypad. air conditioner in the communal hallway didn't work so it was muggy. reception staff in lobby were not very helpful when asking questions; didn't elaborate much on responses or insufficient explanations. Just did their job to do their job; not really customer service oriented. could be more helpful or friendlier.

The view from the roof top bar is fantastic and having a relaxing drink at sunset was wonderful. Helpful reception. Breakfast in the morning was varied and buffet style. Fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt, and Asian food included. Would recommend.
- William (8/5): Chulia Mansion - in the heart of George Town - Great little hotel in the heart of George Town. The hotel was close to lots of food options and many tourist sites. The front desk staff could smile and say "hello" more, but aside from them the rest of the staff were super friendly and kind.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Always my first choice to stay when I travel to Penang. I enjoyed hanging at the fabulous rooftop bar with free welcome drink + snacks & ice cream. The breakfast spread was good. However, my last stay recently found the coffee machine is no longer freshly brew, was told upgraded the room but not actually, the room has some uncomfortable watery+urine smells (highlighted, they immediately sent housekeeping to spray the air freshener but still not much improve, did not request to change the room as they told no room is available). The snacks selections left 3 choices only, and the shower water pressure is extremely low. Still a good place to stay, hope the hotel management will take note on the comment for improvement.
- Patrick (10/5): We will come back ! - This hotel is wonderful. If you don't really need a swimming pool, you will find everything what you need... Room is relatively small, no wardrobe, but has all what you need, and VERY clean ! Breakfast was very good, egg station, 10 choises of warm food, salad bar, fruit and yoghurt, desserts, waffles, pancakes, cereals, ....... Very unique was the possibility to drink coffee or tea 24 hours and from 2 PM until midnight there is free ice cream in the sky bar. This location is excellent after sunset and you will have a free drink (glass of wine or soft drink) every day. The bartender is very friendly and helpful in planning your visits. Hotel location is excellent for visits by bus or walking and in the neighbourhood of many restaurants of all choices. By the way, if you need private transport, use Grab car, very cheap and very quickly available. Example: official taxi from airport to hotel was 44,70 MR and to go back to airport we had to pay 19 MR to Grab driver.

The breakfast was excellent for the price we paid. location cannot be faulted and so easy to find good food just outside the hotel. You have to try the hawker stall Grandma Oyster Omelette near the hotel. Plus point? Free parking in the hotel!

- Pei Ling (8/5): Perfect location. - Location is perfect. It is a 2mins walking distance to the night hawkers and 10mins walk to The Top. Getting around is convenient using Grab. The only bad condition in the room is the shower curtains which are black at thr bottom and the pillows which feels old and lumpy. Otherwise everything else is good.

- sharon (8/5): Great budget stay! - Great budget hotel. Clean and cool with great roof terrace. Breakfast was plentiful and help yourself to rea coffee all day. Free evening wine too. Nicely situated in heritage area and also near bars etc although this could not be heard from our room.
- Christine (10/5): Favourite hotel in Georgetown - This was our 3rd stay and definitely our first choice for next time. Comfortable rooms, fabulous breakfast, free drinks and ice-cream in the evening. And the ideal location for everything in Georgetown

- Elizabeth (8/5): - Service is still very good, as is the comfort level of he hotel. We stayed here last year, and things aren't as good. Breakfast is excellent, but not as good as last year. Things need repairing, including the shower. Still a very good place in an excellent location.
- Jane (8/5): Great location in Georgetown. - Budget hotel with some nice extras. A complimentary drink each night, help yourself ice cream and breakfast. Great views from the rooftop bar. Also had a hot tub on the roof. Basic room but clean.
- Ritche (8/5): I would totally come back. - Cute hotel in center of Georgetown. Free breakfast in morning. Staff are helpful with directions. Clean rooms. Affordable. Rooftop bar is nice to overlook at night.
- Jamie (8/5): - Location is great, with a wide variety of really good local food all within walking distance. Hotel facilities are quite good as well, free coffee and biscuits at the cafeteria, good selection of food for breakfast each morning, there's also free ice cream, a bar and jacuzzi at the rooftop, perfect way to end the day. Really enjoyed our stay and will return again.
- Susan (10/5): - We took a deluxe king room. Huge room although abit bare. But we liked it. Food available all around. Good spread of breakfast. Especially loved the free wine, ice cream and music every night (we stayed 2N) on the rooftop.

Starting with a breakfast buffet, in the afternoon with coffee and different cookies and finishing in the evening at the roof top with a glass of wine. That and a nice room with all amenities was included in the moderate price you paid for the stay right in the heritage centre of Georg Town! We really appreciated our stay there. Worth to mention is also the service and the barkeeper at night.
- Yvonne (4/5): Major turn-off by bedbugs - The location is ideal, being walking distances to many tourist spots such as the wall murals, cafes, eating places. A decent room size with rooftop bar and 1 free drink(including wine/beer) every night. I would rate it clean and an overall 4.5 score at least if not for the bedbugs that has left me sore for a week now. I seriously hope the hotel has sorted out this issue(room 418) so that the next occupant need not suffer the same fate as me
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Simple (but not basic) hotel well located for a short trip to Penang. Friendly helpful staff, good buffet breakfast and great rooftop bar for pre-dinner drinks (first two FREE!)
- Jos (8/5): - The hotel is great. I booked a premium room and it was worth it. Though the room lacked a decent view, it was decorated nicely. And the buffet breakfast spread was impressive. The night food market is a couple of blocks away to the right. You get a free drink every night at the rooftop bar.
- Heung Kwan (8/5): Friendly and clean - Staff was nice. Gave language storage, and allow us to use roof top even after check out, and help us make call. Good breakfast, with varieties. Basic, clean, and great location!
- Maria (10/5): - Nice hotel rooms very clean and Aircon very good, it is centrally located and good breakfast
