Guest Reviews
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautyfull,well maintaned bungalow hotel.
Pleasent and serviceminded staff.
As told on the website, you can not swim in front of the hotel(many rocks),but there is a small beach 2 minutes away.
We loved our stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - it is goof if a safety box is in a room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Property is being updated, new roofs and paint on bungalows. Overall beautiful property and ocean views. Property also shares the beach area and pool of the sai keaw property next door. Only 300baht a day for moped. Go to the other end of Kho Samed for beautiful sunrise and sets.
- Stefan (6/5): - Overpriced for what you get good for 1 night but not more, mind the rocks broken Glas bottles all over don't feed the birds come after your breakfast make sure find the right boat pear if come with your own car coz shuttle is include
- Ken (6/5): Disappointed - This is a cute place but there wasn’t direct access to the beach and at the pool we did have access to, we weren’t allowed to use the chairs. I wish we had stayed at a neighboring resort with direct access to the beach.
- david (10/5): Cute cottage close to the beach - Well had such a lovely stay here. The staff are friendly and the resort is right on the beach front. It’s a rocky beach access so you can use the neighbouring resort for powdered sand beach only 5 mins walk. The transfer from the pier to the hotel is seemless and well organised (and free). We hired a scooter from the resort to explore the island. There are many small coves to visit each with their own character. We look forward to coming back!
- John (10/5): - Lovely quiet place near the main beach and town but secluded and peaceful. No one walking by or through. Cabins right on the beach.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Maiju (10/5): Amazing place! - The only thing I'd like to change is to have own beach for a hotel (guests need to use neighbour hotel beach and their chairs are not available to Baan supparod guests). I know it's not possible to remove rocks and make the beach better for swimming.
Also own pool would be nice, nearer the cabins.
I'm not afraid of small lizards but there are people who are, so the cabin door could be tighter so that there wouldn't be holes for lizards to enter the room.
- Jan Arne (10/5): Fantastic. - Me and a lady friend rented a beach side bungalow for two days at this lovely resort. Had two lazy days and got pampered by a helpful and poite staff. Didn`t even get bothered to walk up to the village for our evening supper, just walked up to the beautiful hotel restaurant and had delicious Thai food for favourable prices in a fantastic atmosphere. I will highly recommend dinner at night time at the hotel retaurant for couples. Absolutely beautiful surroundings. Only a short walk to the near by beach. Highly recommendable.
- Kehm (8/5): 4.5 Stars - the hotel is 4.5 stars. No beach and swimming pool. If you want to lay down on the beach you have to walk to the another beach near by. However, the hotel staffs are very good, and the environment is nice and peaceful. The security system is very good. However, during my stay, some room are under renovation. So, the painting smell is bad and those renovation are walking around.
- Yee Yung (10/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Great getaway for couples - Baan Supparod was a great hotel. Pictures of the resort cannot replicate the actual beauty. I was amazed at the landscaping. The Thai people really have worked hard on decorating the facility. You are given a wristband which allows you to use their "sister" resort next door. The beach area there is awesome. At night it is all lit up with restaurants on the beach. Very similar to another I have visited in Bali. The villa in which we slept was small. However, for what my wife and I needed it was great. The bed was comfortable, shower was hot, and the air conditioning cold. Great place for couples. Very romantic there. I honestly felt this was the nicest resort in Koh Samet.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good for the Value - This property was good for the value. The staff make the experience better. I was disappointed they didn't have the breakfast buffet that they advertised.
- Ajay (8/5): - It's a really romantic place. Loved it.
- Lai Ha Regina (10/5): Convenient and clean hotel - Very enjoyable stay. Can see very beautiful sun rise from room. Room is a bit small but clean and comfortable. Staffs are friendly and helpful. Convenient as just few minutes walk to beach and food place.
- Neil (8/5): Idyllic Hotel in a Superb Setting - Nice hotel, simple facilities, beautiful setting, good service. The use of facilities in the next door resort was a boon.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great value! - We really enjoy this little piece of paradise. Hotel staff makes it even better.
- Shayan (8/5): decent hotel but basic - Good location as its secluded but close enough to main beach. clean and comfortable rooms but slightly pricey for their size and amenities. service is really good.
- Kortney (10/5): - Was well taken care of -- I would totally book again!
- Robert (10/5): Fantastic, outstanding, extremely dedicated staff. - Fantastic hotel, one of the best for quality and value. Staff were outstanding.
- Catie (8/5): It was a nice place near the beach. - It was an ok place, but it had no pool, no beach, and no spa. They did have an agreement with the resort next door, but it was weird to book a place on the beach, that had no beach. I was also a little surprised to find no hand towels or washcloths in the rooms, as well as no hand soap to wash your hands. The staff was amazing!
- Usman (6/5): Slightly pricey but worth it for beach proximity - We went for one night to koh samet and stayed at this resort out of a 5 night Bangkok stay. The resort was expensive for 1 night over 6000 baht but we were impressed by the fact that they gave us free ferry from banphe pier and then free pickup truck to the hotel once we arrived on the island. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We got a sea view bunglaw which has a rocky beach not recommended for swimming. The real beach is accessed via 4 to 5 minute walk through adjacent sister property sai kiaw resort. You can swim in their pool and use private marked beach, however you do have to rent your own beach chairs for 50 baht each anywhere as the private beach chairs are only for the sister property guests. The beach itself has amazing soft white sand and clear blue water. Be careful to swim in the marked off areas as there are many jetskis and speedboats loading offloading passengers. Lots of restaurants and hawkers on the beach and good massage is available right on the beach. Fairly cheap when compared to Bangkok prices. The restaurants have fire dancers at night 8:30pm and you have a good selection of menus to eat from. The resort itself is well lit and you can expect the odd critters because it has beautifully kept gardens all around the individual huts.
- Darren (8/5): good stay - Good value
- Adam (10/5): Great location, staff and breakfast! - Great location in Koh Samet, a quick 5 min walk to Sai Keaw beach (the main one on the island) via a sister resort / 10 min to the main road and its shops, yet far enough from the crowds to be serene and peaceful. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly with any questions or requests to make arrangements e.g. recommended us to also check out Ao Prao beach and helped us call their colleagues in Ban Phe to request a minivan back to Bangkok. The Thai breakfast option of fried rice with shrimp is delicious!
- Munira (10/5): - I really enjoyed my stay here! Location is great and the staff are lovely! Always willing to help. Even if some don't speak English well, they will still try their best to understand what you need and always get what you need. I loved the beach cottage! Definitely recommend this place to everyone!
- GO (8/5): Nice hotel with very good housekeeping - Really enjoyed our stay. From the pier to the resort, everything was taken care of by hotel staff without a glitch.
I had to add an extra bed as there was an addition of a friend last minute. Hotel staff was very prompt on email. My seaview room couldn't accommodate 3, and the staff transferred us to a garden view room for us without extra charge. Really happy and impressed with their service.
Be ready with insect repellent as the mosquitos are big and fat! Hard to get rid of them as they flew into the room with you.
Hotel location is next to the sister-hotel where the pool and private beach area is. We were allowed to use the facilities for free. And the main beach area where food and parties are is about 10-15 min walk.
The sand is very soft and fine. Koh Samet is really a nice place to chill and relax.
- Noam (10/5): Amazing - Great staff, great resort. words can't describe the beauty of the place. just perfect!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fabulous views and best dining enviroment in most hotels. Great service and fantastic place to chill out in. Easy walk to beach and resturants nearby.
Ferry service also excellent.
- Christine (8/5): Great service at a haven on peace. - The Baan Supparod was a haven of peace on an island I found to be much less peaceful than I'd hoped. We loved our simply furnished but delightful little cottage among the trees and flowers. Mai, the Manager, was exceptionally helpful in finding us extremely convenient, inexpensive transportation back to the Bangkok international airport. Be sure to call and ask where to find the ferry that the hotel provides from Ban Phe to the hotel -- I only knew about it because of reviews on this website..
- Eunice Quek (8/5): Excellent Service - Our stay was fantastic, comfortable and clean. Staff was welcoming and patient and has exceeded our expectations.
Though the resort is quite a distance from Hat Sai Kiew which is the main area to get food and necessities, it's still a walkable distance, perhaps about a 15-20 mins walk. I would suggest rental of motor bikes at 300 baht a day and explore Koh Samet.
Also to note that this resort provides transfer from the ferry terminal to the pier of Koh Samet for free. Save you the hassle from getting scammed on your trip to Koh Samet.
Just beware of mosquitoes at night while staying at the resort.
- Kale (10/5): Relaxing times at Baan Supparod - Very nice property if you want to be a short walk away from all the resorts. There is a walkway to the Private beach that belongs to sister property that you are welcome to use, including their pool, restaurant, and bar. The room was very clean, and the air conditioner worked to cool us off from the humid nights. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even accommodating us to check out early and ride the staff ferry so we could catch a flight in Bangkok that afternoon. There is a private ferry that is included in your stay at the pier a short walk away from where the bus drops you off. I wish we had known that instead of walking to the resort, which was not a bad walk at all. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return in the future. Thank you for everything during our stay.
- Thomas (6/5): Paradise not found - The Kai Saew Beach area is trashed. Inside the hotel areas are clean enough but as soon as you walk outside it's a virtual dump. Really sad to see such a beautiful island so poorly maintained.
Sup pa rod is nicely situated and the cabanas are cute, though a little small. But be aware that you will here a parade of speed boats, seadoo's and all types of other craft from 8 in the morning to dusk. It is noisy and quite distracting if you are there to enjoy a nice beach scene.
50 meters from the hotel beach is an area for snorkelling. But surprise, they offer no rental of mask or fins. Instead if you want to snorkel you have to do a 1/2 day trip around the island on a speed boat or a slow ferry. One word for that... stupid.
The staff tried to be helpful but with so many foreign guests you would expect the front desk to always be English speaking.... not so.
- solo traveller (8/5): A truly stressfree experience - Being a solo traveller I found this resort a little lonely as there didn't appear to be many people around. However that is no fault of the resort or staff..I had a wonderful relaxing time. The transfer from Ban Phe was brilliant and included as part of the room. They also arranged my transfer to Bangkok..so my whole experience there was stressfree.
The bungalows were lovely and adequate with TV channels which played non-stop movies. .. I loved it. I felt well and truly relaxed.
The walk to the beach and main street with bars and restaurants was also only about 10mins.
My only negative was the cost of their laundry service...which I thankfully did not use as I later came across laundry places 50 baht/kg.
- paul (10/5): Romantic weekend getaway - Baan Supparod is a great weekend getaway location. It is very well priced, located and the staff are exceptional.
Whilst the resort is a little basic, given the price this is understandable, it's location is stunning and you have access to all of the facilities of the 5 star resort next door, to which Baan Supparod is a sister hotel, including the spa, wellness centre, pools and most importantly the private beach area.
The rooms are simply decorated, exceptionally clean and well appointed for budget accommodation and given the location and the access to the sister hotels 5 star facilities Baan Supparod delivers above and beyond expectations.
Whilst my wife and I only stayed two nights the service from the hotel staff was second to none and we came away truly relaxed.
I can not recommend this accommodation highly enough.
- gary (8/5): BEACH HUTS - the staff was friendly on arrival greeted with fruit juice the huts are small but clean there is a kettle and fridge but no tea or coffee the views from the hut are fantastic the only complaint i had we went the restraunt at 8.15 and they said it was closed early so we had to go the next doors resort restraunt which was not nice food there but overall i would stay again
- jonathan (10/5): A really decent place. - This place has great staff, you get your own little house, bedroom and shower. It's quiet and a little ways from the beach, maybe a 200 to 250 meter walk. For the price it is great, clean well taken care of places. The food is really good too. They have good cooks. The grounds are well kept and pretty. My Laos girlfriend loved the place and wants to go back. If I had to nitpick I would say the soap dispensers in the shower were lame and no room safe. Other than that, I was really happy.
