• Steve (7/5): Good hotel but they take payment immediately upon booking contrary to their booking.com advert. - The room was actually very nicely decorated and presented. The location is also good, close to Southern Cross station. The supplied hot breakfast was also quite decent. My main gripe with this place was that on booking.com, it said that I would not be charged now and that it was book now and pay at the property. But literally a day or so later, they took full payment. When I queried this, they just referred me to their T&Cs but these are not displayed on the booking.com web page. It does actually say this on their own website but that is not the platform that you are booking on if going through booking.com, so really it is a breach of contract. I was only staying one night and the hotel was fine but they should make it clear on their booking.com post that they do take payment straight after you book the room, despite what it says on booking.com so please beware of this.

• Torpy (7/5): We had a very pleasant stay at Hotel Sophia over a week long period. - The three bed room was spacious and clean and included all required gadgets like kettle, coffee machine, mini fridge, tea and coffee. Good ventilation and the heating worked well, TV was functional. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Room was cleaned on request. Location is the best one can find close to Spencer Street station and as such in the heart of the CBD. There aren't any really. One concern was the availability of staff at the reception but we did get the attention of the managers fairly quickly via the phone.

El desayuno es suficiente pero muy básico y sencillo, muy poca cantidad. El hotel estaba casi vacío y nos pusieron en una habitación contigua con otros huéspedes con tan mala suerte que hablaban muy fuerte y reían y ponían música hasta las 2 de la mañana y no pudimos dormir.

• Lachlan (9/5): - We really like this place. Very convenient location at the better end of King St, so it's comparatively quiet. Plenty of nearby options to eat, including "Koreatown" in Healeys Lane, or better, there is a natural agglomeration of restaurants in Rose Lane nearby. Appears to be family owned and run, which I love. 24 hour reception with actual humans at the desk! Amazing. The room I last stayed in was recently refurbished and very clean. Coffee bags and pod espresso machine in the room. The Buffett breakfast is actually quite good value.

• Ito (3/5): I wouldn't recommend this Hotel if you are looking for somewhere responsible, higly maintained, and comfortable. - I liked how the hotel was located at the city, many restaurants and shops were around with few minutes walk to the tram. Enjoyed talking to the owner's cheerful father. He helped out me to carry my huge luggageAlso I was able to sleep well on a king sized bed. The WIFI internet was broken for most of my stay. It stopped working fter less than a week I moved in, and didn't get fixed for the whole 2~3 weeks. Although I asked when it'll be fixed, they kept on lying and end up me leaving without the internet. Another thing was that I got charged more than I supposed to be, in the process of refund. Also, didn't expect that water would start dripping from the ceiling, although they fixed it and dealt well afterwards. Some other micro concerns such as floating bug inside breakfast orange juice, overhearing from rooms next door, and insufficient 'un'made up rooms, ultimately led me to this dissatisfied stay.
• Ben (6/5): Good location, decent stay. - Had a very spacious room and decent sized bathroom. Room was basic but comfortable enough. Aircon in the room. Great location with very easily accessible public transport close by. We arrived at around 11pm, and waited an hour for someone to finally come and check us in, when the receptionist finally arrived after another kind customer helped us out, the receptionist didn’t say a word, no sympathy that we’d been waiting for an hour after a long travel day. Was horrible customer service. Says 24h check in but didn’t see a single person at reception for the whole week we stayed. If you’re looking for somewhere with actual 24h check in this place isn’t for you.
• Trin (3/5): Overpriced especially for a place that can’t even get in contact with you and give you money back like they said they wo - It was clean The service was questionable and they didn’t state having to give extra money for a “bond” We drove 3 and a half hours and they wouldn’t budge. We could’ve been left without anywhere to go and we still had to find and cough up $150 that she said would be sent straight back into my bank within minutes to 24 hours after checking in. It’s been 48hours and they are hanging up on me and refusing to answer the phones now. I’ve left messages and when some young lady did answer she said the main guy wasn’t available to talk to me.

Could not even get the email from the person who was answering the phone before noon . Breakfast was not available until 7.45, it was the day before leftovers of bacon and eggs, stone cold . No toast, no bread, no coffee, nothing hot at all !! The breakfast was to start at 7am. They changed me $150.00 , security bond, and are now telling me it could take up to 5 days for the return to my credit card ?? Booking.com customer service is also Terrible, I have now started using Exlepedia ( they seem to actually seem to be able to care about their customers and resolve any problems).

Young girl on reception kindly came to fix the dodgy connection from the ceiling, which had fallen out. Older man at reception not very friendly or helpful.

Good bathroom space The reason why I gave a 5/10 instead of a 7/10, when I made the booking the advertised rate was $460+, however the very next day I got charged $500+. This was also charged 2 weeks before the check-in date. On the invoice at the bottom a $45 card fee was tagged on which is ridiculous! Feels like a scam as card fees are also non refundable and I have free cancellation within 24 hours according to my booking. Aside from this rooms are dated. Corridors leading into rooms are very narrow and have steps making it difficult with luggage. Better value for money elsewhere if including the added sneaky fee

Algumas ofertas aqui da booking incluem o café da manhã, foi o meu caso. No entanto, depois o hotel me enviou uma mensagem dizendo que o café é cobrado a parte. Questionei e eles incluíram o café da manhã novamente. O senhor que atende na recepção é muito rude. Durante toda a estadia ele me atendeu meio seco, mas até aí tudo bem, ninguém é obrigado a ser simpático. Depois do check out, deixei minhas malas para buscar mais tarde, um serviço oferecido pelo hotel. Quando fui buscar, ele me atendeu como se eu fosse um bandido querendo roubar as malas. Quando fiz menção de usar o espaço do saguão para guardar umas compras de última hora na mala que iria despachar, ele disse que eu não poderia usar o espaço porque estava sendo limpo pela equipe (não tinha ninguém limpando o espaço!) e foi me expulsando do hotel, gesticulando com os braços... foi muito bizarro! rsrs ¯\(ツ)/¯
