David (7/5): Staying at the Thunderbird renewed my appreciation for family owned and operated motels. - I was pleasantly surprised by the overall cleanliness and comfort of the room. It was well-equipped with fridge and coffee maker. Staff were friendly, despite my late arrival. I'll be sure to stay at the Thunderbird next time I pass through Elko There were some paint repairs needed in the bathroom, but nothing indicating real neglect.

A bed was missing with the headboard still attached to the wall.

Zoltan (9/5): Amazing place, amazing town. beautiful. - This place and Elko in general was a really positive surprise. Basically we had no idea about the area and the place beforehand. Was supposed to be only a pin/dot on our map on our road trip. Turned out one of the best little town on our Honeymoon. We loved it. Those garden/suburb area nearby with those beautiful autumn colored trees were amazing. A short trail to the "E" and the view of Ruby Mountains and the sunset ...Wow...just wow. A fantastic place. none

Olivia (7/5): A cheap, quick stay. - It's cheap and in a good location, felt safe. Room wasn't the cleanest. We ended up sleeping in sleeping bags on the bed instead of using the sheets, plus the room was cold.

Floors were made up of all different carpet squares that looked dirty. There were no designated areas for the dogs to go potty. TV buffered the whole time we were there. However, the manager did try to help with the buffering with no success. Motel is a little shotty. Won't stay again.

Lenny (10/5): Older motel, but clean and had everything we need - A convenient place to stay at the edge of Elko. Plenty of food and casinos in the vicinity a short walk away. There's a simple but adequate breakfast, and even an outdoor pool. Will stay again if we pass by here.

Stephanie (8/5): Not as bad as other reviews let on to - My stay was fine. It was clean and quiet and had all the basics, fridge, microwave, hair dryer and nice toiletries. Bed was comfortable enough with simple sheet/blanket combo. You have to remember this is an old motel with a lot of history and nostalgia so you are not going to get anything modern or fancy. Location was good with everything being with-in 5-10 min away. For a two night stay it was budget friendly.
Jeffrey (8/5): Always excellent lodging when staying in Elko - Our room at the Thunderbird Motel in Elko was as clean and tidy as they always are. This motel is thoroughly cared for and always offers an excellent stay. The only downside to this visit was a slightly disappointing continental breakfast. With the exception of the microwaveable breakfast sandwiches, everything else was sugared or sweetened. Please offer unsweetened oatmeal and/or cereals for those who cannot eat sugar or sweeteners. Thank you.

Benjamin (10/5): - The staff is great! They’re very friendly, understanding, and helpful. I messed up on my reservation. I thought I’d booked two nights instead of one and it was completely my fault. Instead of kicking me out, they let me reserve another night at a little bit higher rate and keep my same room. It was also all worked out over the phone, which was so accommodating of them. The location is a little noisy but that’s the nature of Elko. It’s a bit of a rowdy place.

Kevin (10/5): amidst other motel this is a winner! - During a vacation that included many hotels and Thunderbird turned out to be the best. We had a myriad of good rooms, with one upgrade to a suite at a big name Hotel. The sweet was okay the toilet was dirty and they were still wet washcloths in the shower. We stayed at some econ friendly hotels that were basically life or death. The Thunderbird is tucked amongst historic hotels of tourist driven Elko Nevada. Great checking experience, friendly staff, clean, inviting swimming pool, a clean and comfortable hotel room. Out of the many places we stayed on our multi-state vacation a Thunderbird is the only one I would recommend.

Linda (5/5): Wouldn't stay there again. There are better motels at the east end of town. - The location was easy to find, and we appreciated that it was pet friendly. This room had seen better days. The chair in the room was torn in the seat. The bed had only two pillows that were micro size little lumps. The breakfast hours were posted as 6:30 am to 9:00 am. We got there at 6:45 am but there wasn't any food put out. We had to wait about 20 more minutes for the one staff member to put out food little by little while he checked out other people.
