Guest Reviews

- Dustin (10/5): - Amazing service, really friendly people and beautiful hotel. Nothing, can't wait to return.
- STEFANOS (10/5): -

- Tony (1/5): Ended up in a damp smelly room - Looked nice Things can go wrong what matters is how it is dealt with.
When we returned to the hotel to check in we were told they could not honour our booking because there was a problem with our room. I wonder if they had over booked
We were told we would be transferred to a sister hotel
Instead of being equivalent, it turned out to be a very ordinary city hotel nothing like the one we had paid for. Our room, the last left, was damp and smelly
They even expected us to pay for our own taxi.
To top it all they did not organise the full breakfast we were promised so we were left to argue with payment
The real test of a business is how they deal with customers when they have made a mistake
This hotel made it clear they did not care

- Robert (9/5): Nice, quiet hotel near all the attractions - Nice hotel in a quiet part of town. There's an amazing brand-new park nearby to stroll around in the midday heat (covered walk ways).
There's a pool to relax at, and there is a simple breakfast with fruit an yogurt.
The room is large (I had the top-floor room, number 6), had a good AC and two ceiling fans for when it's not that hot.
On the ground floor there's a bar with an honor system (you take drinks out of the fridge and tally in a notebook), and you enter the property with a key code, so you can have access, even when the staff isn't at the front desk.
The parking was around the corner, and while not large, I could always park my rental car there for the duration of my stay.
The hotel is 3 blocks from the main street. Just far enough to have none of the noise, but all of the convenience. On your way to the main street, there's laundry, and a convenience store.
I had a great time in Merida and would book this hotel again!
- Eckhardt (7/5): Although there were some issues, we liked the location of the hotel and the staff service. - The room was large but it was somewhat short on amenities: number of towels (only one (face and bath) towel/person was provided (a second set was provided on request) for two people; limited soap for sink and bathroom (also provided on request); sheets did not match the king bed—these were minor problems. The location was fine…a bit of a walk to restaurants and attractions—10 min taxi ride. Our concierge host, Carlos, was excellent! He listened to our complaints and acted to remedy problems; he gave us good directions and assisted in arranging Uber/taxi rides. Our biggest complaint related to the supply of amenities. The continental breakfast was somewhat limited—it comprised of a small bowel yogurt and fresh fruit, toast, small buns, butter and jam.
- Axel (8/5): -
- Andrew (8/5): - The location was good but still a bit of a walk from the main attractions. There was private parking very nearby, the included breakfast was good as well and the staff were very helpful and friendly
- Vicky (8/5): -
- Martha (4/5): - Plantean Luxury y nada de eso
- STEFANOS (9/5): -
- Angel (8/5): -
- Rafaela (9/5): -
- Ilaria (10/5): Staff molto gentile, camere pulitissime, confortevole - Curato, buona qualità prezzo Un po’ lontano dal centro e strade irregolari; colazione da rimediare includerei le uova senza supplemento
- Martina Ulzega (6/5): - Struttura trascurata e poco pulita.
- Elvia (10/5): Very comfortable.and safe - Personal is excellent. Distance from main blvd is good. Cleanliness was excellent. Privacy and very peaceful. I did not dislike anything.
- giovanni (10/5): -
- Rhys (10/5): - Nice place, would reccommend
- Miriam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melendez (8/5): Confortable, clean, quiet, friendly staff - Very private A couple of blocks from main avenue Paseo Montejo, very walkable but not on main street… price make it worth anyway
- Jan (8/5): - The air conditioner was musty and loud, however, the rest of the stay was pleasant. The breakfast included is continental, and decent, albeit small. The cost for the egg option is fine at 85 pesos. The keys provided for the front door were confusing (all same shape) but luckily we did not need them late at night when the hotel is apparently unattended (which seems a bit odd? what if guests have issues or an emergency?). For these reasons, I would probably not return, given the sheer volume of decent hotels for similar or lower costs currently available in central Merida.
- Rafael (6/5): - The property is well located near the center of Merida, just a couple blocks away.
No restaurant, just a small kitchen that serves breakfast, no lunch nor dinners. Also there's no room service.
The rooms are well equipped.
It has a small pool where you can relax, closes at 21 hrs.
Overall, it's a good hotel if you want something without any noise, however, it's just a room. Don't expect nothing fancy if that's your thing.
- Amanda (10/5): - Very nice and clean. Central location.
- Aileen (10/5): - Really liked the pool and the service the staff provided
- Camille (7/5): Not a location for tourists - Staff was friendly and accommodating.
Beds were comfortable and bedding was very good
Room was large and had a fridge. No elevator … Stairs are an issue as the railing is not connected all of the way to our room.
Breakfast was minimal , given that the property is classified as ‘ luxury’. ..that includes breakfast.
Location leaves a lot to be desired…dark streets and a more of an industrial feeling.
Access to Restaurants is limited to a large Food Court at La Plancha …two blocks from the hotel
That venue is basically a glorified food court of fast food.
- Jose (10/5): - not noise, very quiet
- Thomas (10/5): - Short walk to La Casita Spanish school. Close to lots and f restaurants. Very friendly and helpful staff at the hotel.
- Alfred (8/5): Very good - Location, parking in Garage View and sound of a nearby grainmill
- J1403ICdavidd (10/5): Lovely property, arrival less so. - It should be easy to rate Casa Italia 5 out of 5 among Merida accommodations. It is beautifully refreshed, with spacious spiffy guest rooms, a colorful tropical pool courtyard, and stylish common areas. Breakfast is good, staff can be caring. The location is near perfect--few blocks from Paseo Montejo to the west and Calle 47 to the south, even as the auto repair shop across the street and factory stacks a block away remind visitors of the limits of Merida's recent gentrification. And in a city whose hotels are in a Condé Nast Traveler-fueled race to out-boutique and out-price the next, Casa Italia remains reasonable and friendly. For most guests, this will be a five-star experience at a two-star price point.
I am giving Casa Italia an excellent review, but doing so in spite of my awful check-in experience. In short, Casa Italia promises reception until 1030p, but when I arrived at 914p and called at 932p from the airport cab stand--the staff member on duty directed me instead to head to a sister hotel (Art 64) to check-in as she only wanted to remain until 10p. Doing so forced a 1.6 km walk through a city with which I am unfamiliar, with a now broken luggage wheel. Not the welcome anybody wants. The manager at Casa Italia wanted to make things right, but processing a refund took 20 days, and several conversations with the hotel, Agoda through whom I had booked the stay, and American Express. If your arrival is timely, I think you will love Casa Italia. If not, consider yourself warned.
Compliments are in order to Alfredo at Art 64, and Marie at Casa Italia who dealt with my abundant frustrations well. I also appreciate Cristall's efforts to make amends. Nothing happened quickly though, and I have to believe that late arrivals (and these can happen to anyone with delayed flights out of a traveler's control) can be a problem at Casa Italia.
If all had gone smoothly for my check-in, I would strongly recommend this delightful accommodation for your Merida visit. Instead, I am providing a strong but honest review of Casa Italia, and hope your arrival goes well if you choose this property for your stay in this wonderful city.
- Elvis (9/5): Superb - Great location close to a lot of food options . It's about a 4 block walk to several excellent restaurants. The staff is friendly. Rooms are clean and comfy. The breakfast was less than desirable. Other than that it's a great place .
- Aleš (8/5): Very good -
- Marco (8/5): - Camera molto grande e con buone finiture. Letto comodo e parcheggio privato nelle vicinanze.
- Hélios (7/5): Good - The patio and pool
The breakfast included
The balcony Too far from the center to walk
- Caryharri (9/5): Good - Big room, comfortable bed and hot water. Good location. Breakfast was included with coffee and fruit and yoghurt and toast with the option to pay extra for eggs and bread. However the bread they used for the toast was already like crispbread before it was toasted so when you tried to put the butter on it broke up into small pieces.... this seems inexcusable especially as there's a bakers less than 50 meters down the road. There's only 6 rooms surely it wouldn't be difficult to get fresh bread in every morning. rather than charge an extra 40 Mxp..( It's 10 in the Pasteldaria,)
- Yuen Yee (8/5): - The staff were excellent - helpful and friendly. The hotel was nice and it had a “trust bar” where customer serve themselves and record their purchase in a book to settle at checkout.
The room was clean and very spacious - but the shower was very weak and most days had no hot water.
The area was convenient but the paving was very uneven and it was very dark at night. But it was safe and quiet.
- Myrthe (9/5): Superb -
- felipe (10/5): - Excelente lugar
- Apul (9/5): Superb - The staff The pool
- Razvan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mireya (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ronald (10/5): great staff and very nice rooms - The weather was very warm and the air conditioning system was not too good.
- JORGE (8/5): - Balcony was just fine, not fancy
- Manh (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (9/5): Yes, I would stay here again - Cooked breakfast daily was very good. Our room was spacious. Interior of hotel is well appointed and maintained. Staff was very helpful. Small outdoor courtyard inside the hotel was very nice. Hotel has no elevator and only has six rooms. Very quiet inside the hotel. Location surroundings. Would have preferred to be closer to central attractions.
- Mendez (8/5): Very good -
- Shannon (8/5): Great value, beautiful property. - Limited front desk.
- Chris (9/5): Superb - The friendliest team in Mexico, helpful at every step. The room may not be stunning, but with a comfortable bed and plenty of space. The nice breakfast. Nice recreation area. The area is average, the view too.
- Thomas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (8/5): Very good -
- Carlos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nikolaos (5/5): Passable -
- Nikolaos (5/5): Passable -
- Carmen (8/5): Very good -
- Juan (9/5): It was very good - The breakfast was excellent and the personal very kind There is no personal in the reception after 10 pm
Zona tranquila
- Andreas (9/5): Beautiful hotel close to the Center - We have slept perfectly, had a nice balcony, the breakfast was great with fruits, juice and additionally with a fresh prepared hot plate. Super nice service. The pool and garden is a relaxing location. The hotel is close by the main CityCenter, all in walking distance, just the last 300 meters to the hotel are a bit uncomfortable to walk.
- Sarah-jane (9/5): Superb -
- Claudia (10/5): nice hotel - but far from downtown - spacioua and clean rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff rather far from centro
- Ricardo (10/5): Peace - very nice and peaceful place
- Elisa (9/5): Pretty and comfortable - The place is lovely and the staff is very helpful and kind. The location is very close to Paseo Montejo The location. Is convenient but not very inviting.
- María Cristina (8/5): - Estuvo excelente!
- Marc (8/5): Very good -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Will def stay again - Cute hotel. Clean- service was awesome. Adult only is a plus. Will recommend to friends stopping through the area- and look forward to returning myself.
- Rob (7/5): Good for a 2 night stay - Big room, big comfortable bed, close walk to other restaurants and town centre. Easy to get to ado bus station, used Uber which was cheaper. Very quiet street so no noise at night. Limited options for breakfast, traditional Mexican or fruit and granola. The hotel is quite old and in a quiet part of the city. Would expect more from a 5 star hotel.
- Annabel (9/5): spacious and nicely decorated rooms - very spacious and modern rooms nothing
- Christian (6/5): central and good value - location near the paseo nothing to say as a critic, was very good value for money.
- Terry (8/5): Well located comfortable boutique hotel - The hotel is small...6 rooms...some with private patios overlooking the pool and garden. A short walk to Paseo Montejo. Merida's large boulevard of shops and restaurants, and 15 minutes on foot to the city centre.
- Nicole (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Daniela (8/5): Overall I would stay here again. - George was the best. He helped get us around and also provided very good suggestions. His customer service as well as the gentleman on the evenings were so courteous and attentive to me and my friend. Maintenance was also so great with our particular requests. Thank you so much for that. The hotel was quiet and comfortable. AC and light was great. Balcony was perfect for sunbathing. Check in at night for a solo female traveler is very dangerous. I was not emailed or texted to go to the other hotel to pick up the keys. Finding an Uber so close to midnight was nerve-wracking. The breakfast was ok but did not seem very fresh. The fruit was the best part. The lady at the front desk on my last day to check out could use some customer service training. I felt so ignored. There is no elevator and the stairs are definitely a danger if you are not careful. But Overall I would stay here again.
- Cathy (10/5): Exceptional - We booked online and arrived 15 minutes later at the hotel (slightly earlier than normal check-in time at 3pm). We assumed we'd need to wait given we had only just reserved, but they had the reservation already noted and the room ready for us.
The hotel is small and personal, with very well designed spaces and parking - and just a short walk to the Monetejo. Perfect for us.
- Gloria (10/5): definitely going back - location, pool, English tv, food, friendliness
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - beautiful hotel with very nice and helpful staff. I had a room with a beautiful terrace, breakfast was fantastic. wifi good, pool was enough to cool off. very good location close to the street with good restaurants. the hotel has private parking which was very helpful.
- Theo (8/5): Very good -
- Anne-sophie (6/5): Pleasant - beautiful hotel, with a private free parking lots of small hidden defaults in the room, shower did not work properly
- Yolanda (7/5): The stay was fair but overpriced. - Breakfast Was Good 1. The location
2. Maid service not supplying coffee
- Daniela (8/5): Very good - great staff and nice design the shower 🚿 was uncomfortable
