Guest Reviews
- Debbie (9/5): Lovely boutique hotel in pretty suburb near table mountain. Nice homely touches and attentive staff. - Lovely boutique hotel in a pretty and quiet suburb of Cape Town. Easy to get to the table mountain cable car. Generous all day beverage service and delicious breakfast menu. Our room was over the parking area so there was a bit of noise from waiting chauffeurs. We would have liked tea making facilities in our room, although it was brought up by request when asked for.
- Victoria (10/5): Fabulous few days great location - Relaxed and clean and safe

- SherryP814 (10/5): Quiet location in a residential neighborhood.... - My husband & I searched for a quiet location with personalized attention. This Inn exceeded our expectations. The entire staff was kind and helpful. I want to give a shout out to Marlene, Hope, Niki & Gillia for their warm hospitality. The kitchen & bar did an outstanding job with meals. Prompt service and wonderful presentation. Top notch. Our room was well-appointed, super comfy bed and spacious bathroom. We slept well. The staff made arrangements for wine tours and a guide for the Cape of Good Hope Drive. We were also given helpful information about the waterfront area. Even though the hotel is a distance from the waterfront, Uber drivers are plentiful in Cape Town. We highly recommend this hotel!
- 830veral (10/5): What an amazing start for our honeymoon!! - We loved our stay in Kensington place! Immediately felt a really warm welcome of the staff. They were all very friendly, extremely attentive and helpful. Every detail is carefully thought through in this hotel. We had an amazing room and little terrace all to ourselves. And our honeymoon special treat was very memorable and much appreciated!
Highly recommend this hotel.

- Philip (9/5): Exceptional from start to finish - 3rd time staying here need I say more. Our
goto place in Cape Town Nothing
- emmamagee (10/5): A honeymoon stay full of thoughtful touches! - We had the most wonderful stay at Kensington Place! From the moment we arrived, everything felt beautifully thought out and welcoming. The botanical Fijn amenities were a real treat, and the heated carpet beside the bed was such a thoughtful touch – it made the room feel extra cosy. The whole building smelt beautiful and the interiors were stylishly designed with a warmth that felt like a true home-from-home. We loved the little turndown touches each evening, which made the stay feel extra special for our honeymoon. The staff were also incredibly helpful with our table reservations and made sure we felt relaxed and safe throughout our time there.
- Travel747084 (10/5): Welcoming, Luxurious, Beautiful Boutique Hotel! - My husband and I stayed at Kensington Place for 5 nights. It was absolutely wonderful! The location is beautiful, super close to Table Mountain as well as excellent restaurants on Kloof Street.
Every person working there was extremely helpful, attentive and went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the best it could be—from making dinner reservations for us, providing tasty afternoon snacks with tea and little extras the whole entire time.
Kensington Place is luxurious and comfortable all at the same time. We felt welcomed and truly hope to return here again!
Thank you!!
- Eric (10/5): Warm Welcome in Peaceful Neighborhood - We loved the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff, the quiet of the neighborhood, comfortable beds, and ease with which we could call an Uber and have one arrive within a few minutes. Easy walkability to Government Street and from there to the V&A Wharf area. Also, they gave us a physical map, which helped us plan routes/etc., rather than having to be too reliant on our phones. Lovely rain shower, but tended to spray the bathroom.
- AGthing56 (10/5): Great Stay at Kensington Place - We will return - My husband and I traveled to South Africa for my birthday, and can’t say enough about the Kensington Place. We loved it here. We stayed in room 8, which had a wonderful view of Table Mountain. The rooms were well designed, so lovely, and literally spotless. The beds were comfortable, and they provide hot water bottles in the bed during turn down service for chillier evenings. The bathroom felt like an outdoor oasis. The grounds overall are so beautiful, and the entire place has an art deco feel. This is boutique hotel at its finest. Lastly the food was awesome and included gluten free options, such as bread! The service is top notch, and we appreciated the security staff that greeted us every time we left or returned back to the hotel. Kensington is in a great location near Kloof street and in a safe area. We will gladly come back anytime we are in Cape town.
- Kimberly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cassandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Monique (10/5): Absolute perfect stay. Luxurious and quiet. Great service of abundance - Service. Abundance. Luxe.
- slorachsamantha (10/5): Beautiful Location, Staff were amazing - Stay was 10/10 - From the moment we arrived, we loved the location, atmosphere and vibes. Kensington Place's receptionist greeted us with a drink and cold towels. She even went through our trip itinerary to give us tips and ideas for our stay - we received a complimentary wine bottle in our room when we arrived. Every night there was a lovely sweet treat waiting for us, with the temperature of the next day! The breakfast was nothing short of amazing - the golden turmeric latte and pancakes were my face. Such a beautiful hotel, Thank you Kensington Place for a wonderful stay!
- petereN6686LM (10/5): Great Stay - Book it - My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the four nights we stayed at Kensington Place. It is exactly what we were looking for: small, well appointed boutique hotel with spectacular service in a quiet location.
The facilities were in great shape and everything was always very clean. The only thing I could recommend improving, and it just might be personal taste is that the mattress was more firm than I prefer.
The food was nothing but great. We enjoyed complimentary breakfast each morning with no complaints whatsoever. The menu was the same each morning, but great variety.
We also had one dinner there, which again was fantastic. I had the mushroom ravioli, and it might have been the best ravioli dish I’ve ever had.
The service is where I feel this hotel really separates themselves and shines. Every single person we came in touch with exceeded our expectations. From security, to front desk to food service. They bent over backwards to make sure you were well taken care of.
This hotel checked all of the boxes. Don’t hesitate in booking.
- Thomas (10/5): - A special boutique hotel. The staff are super attentive, happy and helpful.
The place is beautifully decorated and the quaint courtyard is nicely designed to offer an intimate place to dine, relax in a garden setting or lounge by the plunge pool.
The room (#1) was neat, clean and tidy. The beds and stuff were quite low as an FYI. The staff offered a complimentary chilled wine in the room, as well as still and sparkling water in the mini fridge and apples every day! The room was equipped with a well thought out ‘emergency’ pack including tampons, recovery sachets, diarrhoea relief, condoms and pain killers! Didn’t need them - but it was a nice touch!
We didn’t dine for lunch or dinner but they had a small vegan breakfast menu which we tried and the creamy mushrooms and truffle scrambled tofu on vegan croissant were delicious - the best vegan breakfast we had during our week in Cape Town.
Not really walking distance into the centre/V&A water front but a good place to be based for Ubers into town (15mins), out to Kirstenbosch (20mins), south of Cape Town as well as to Camp’s Bay (10mins).
When we come back to South Africa we will definitely be staying here again!
- Geert (10/5): Perfect in any way - Amazing. Friendly staff, very close and clean, free water and coffee al day long, just next to the table mountain. Just perfect
- Mats (9/5): The perfect boutique stay in the Gardens - Very nice breakfast, extremely friendly and helpful staff, nice interiors, nice and cosy small pool area perfect for relaxation Only a minor detail: They didn't have proper espresso/cappuchino coffee, that would give the breakfast a nice extra touch of luxury
- Ashenhurst (8/5): Very good -
- Claire (10/5): Amazing boutique hotel - Amazing! We loved every minute of our stay! The staff were very attentive and responsive to our needs and the hotel felt safe and welcoming. The location was spectacular right at the foot of Table Mountain! We had an amazing vacation and would love to return!
- Terry (10/5): Exceptional -
- anthony (10/5): - Amazing location, hotel, team, rooms are great and it’s all very cosy and private
- MRoseSully (10/5): Love! - I wish I could live at Kensington place! The location was fabulous, being set back from the hustle and bustle of the city in the garden district with lovely views. The staff were top notch (Mathias, Hope, Gillian, Bright, Nikki to name a few) in their friendly nature and being helpful in terms of navigating the city and any of my needs at the time. I absolutely loved my spacious and very comfortable room, it's view and the complimentary bottle of wine I received upon my arrival. The food there is also quite amazing! I love the quaint nature of this boutique hotel and would recommend it to anyone. I hope to return one day!
- 11092511 (10/5): Delightful place to stay. - Our first Corrientes was perfect. Arriving after a long flight we immediately felt relaxed and at home. We ate our evening meal in the hotel. Congratulations for choice and quality. My burger was memorable. Cooked exactly as I asked. Our room was very well appointed with a lovely view of the mountain. The lounge is a fabulous place to return to. It was fairly cool whilst we were there so each evening the log fire was lit. So comfortable and homely
It’s a total winner for us.
- HeavyTravel (10/5): First class luxury boutiqe hotel - Expectations were high due to previous reviews, but they were exceeded on our first day. This small luxury hotel with 8 rooms only, were set in a beautiful garden with a small outdor pool and a few sun loungers. The location was prime uphill, close to the foot of Table Mountain. We were embraced by a warm welcome at check in and served a glass of sparkling wine while waiting for our room to get ready.
The weather was nice and sunny, so we enjoyed a few hours of sun by the pool in the garden.
Our room located on the top floor was spacious with nice interior and balconies on both sides, one overlooking the city of Cape Town. Our housekeeper kept the room and bathroom impeccably clean and tidy. Very Comfortable beds with luxury bedlinen and nice throws. Designer items and contemporary art gives a nice impression and special touch throughout the hotel.
The service was more than five stars from Gillian and Mathias and their team. Breakfast was delicious with a la carte menu and special coffees made to order.
We had lunch one day, and the salads were really tasty. Free water supply in the minibar in our room, which was highly appreciated.
The guys in security were kind and helped with luggage and even with the drivers when Bolt and Uber picked us up or delivered us back at the hotel.
My sister and I agreed, we would be happy to return to Kensington Place one day.
- David (6/5): Pleasant - Good location to explore town, and cute little garden. Kind complementary upgrade. Great breakfast served all day! Ordinary rooms and no attention to details, especially in terms of design. I was hoping for more given the guest house nature of the place, and the prices they charge.
- JustinF1903 (10/5): Superb Accommodations and Location - Kensington Place is the perfect home base from which to explore Cape Town and the Western Cape. Luxurious but friendly and relaxed, Kensington Place offers comfortable, beautifully decorated rooms, a lovely garden and fantastic food. From the welcome drinks to the minute we reluctantly checked out, the service was impeccable. The location is excellent--just a short distance to all of the restaurants and cafes on Kloof Street and easy Uber trips to the Waterfront, the Table Mountain cable car and beyond.
- mamadr1 (10/5): Lovely hotel with excellent service in quiet Cape Town neighborhood - This was our hotel after completing our safaris in Namibia and Botswana. The staff was truly amazing and the hotel itself was beautiful. The bed was comfortable, lovely room and the food was excellent. The Fynbos soaps and lotions were just delightful!
- Benita (10/5): We felt indulged and nothing was too much for the staff. A perfect break of relaxation. - The location is wonderfully tranquil, surrounded by nature yet close to shop and restaurants.
- misac962 (10/5): A serene spot, close to everything - Kensington Place was a perfect little oasis and introduction to Capetown. We stayed here after a week of safari, and our cravings for privacy, luxury, and a bit of upscale city life were certainly met. Our room had the bonus of a fireplace, perfect for the cooler September days. The warmer days were equally as lovely, spent next to the gorgeous, quiet pool. Dining here was outstanding, and it was lovely to have in room options available. Breakfast set up for us on our balcony overlooking the mountains was unforgettable. Very close to table mountain too. We had the most serene visit to Kensington Place!
- Bernadette (10/5): - Beautiful place. Excellent location. Helpful and friendly staff.
- itsmel2 (10/5): This hidden gem is nothing short of incredible - I had an absolutely fantastic stay at Kensington Place!! WOW!!!
Their best asset is their staff who provide unmatched service with a smile. The security (both when I arrived and left) felt like old friends, they were just wonderful! This boutique hotel is nestled up against Table Mountain so you feel like you're in a little nature wonderland. I cannot recommend Kensington Place highly enough!! Stay here, you won't be sorry!
- Ross (10/5): Spectacular - All parts of our stay were spectacular. Matthias in the evening and Marlene in the day were so, so nice. Beautiful boutique hotel! My wife said at least 5 times that our room was the nicest we ever stayed at!
- sharonbee1 (10/5): Relaxing lodging - Kensington Place – Mathias greeted us. He was very pleasant and the accommodation was quaint. It was close to the airport and rest was needed after such a long flight from the U.S. We had two delicious dinners and a breakfast at the lodging’s restaurant.
- Trail284976 (10/5): Tranquil luxury minutes from tourist attractions - A luxury boutique hotel away from the bustle and noise of Cape Town's tourist hubs. Kensington Place has lovely, attentive, knowledgeable staff and great food. Our room was large, with a desk and a sitting area, and always impeccably clean. We'd recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to be somewhere quiet enough for a great night's sleep but only a quick 15 min Uber to the main tourist attractions of Cape Town.
- Melissa (9/5): Great stay with thoughtful touches - We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Kensington Place. From the check in process, to the breakfast and room, everything was great. Nice hospitality touches throughout and we feel very taken care of. Room is clean with a great view of Table mountain and Lion's Head. Great amenities, comfortable bed. Safe location as well, we were able to walk to the nearby Kloof street. -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional -
- Juergen (10/5): perfect stay - ... > ... wonderful for smooth & easy relaxating - will be bach for sure
- brandyu2002 (10/5): boutique hotel a hidden gem in Cape town - Our first stop on a South Africa tour (we spent 3 nights) and it was perfect especially after a long flight from the USA. Tucked away on a quiet street with views of Table Mountain. You are away from all of the hustle but close enough to get to 5-10 min away. Private and secure. The garden and pool are soothing. We had a beautiful large comfortable modern room steps away from the pool which we enjoyed every afternoon there. The breakfasts are delicious made to order and plentiful! We had one dinner there and the food and service was great. KP is a perfect boutique hotel would highly recommend and stay again if in CPT.
- tasheer (10/5): - wonderful boutique hotel. Very comfortable rooms. Decor throughout the hotel is really charming. Great staff and service.
- Assheton (10/5): Perfect stay, hihgly recommend - Perfect setting. delightful attentive staff. Nothing not to like. building work next door, was unfortunate, but not in the control of the hotell
- Christopher (9/5): Superb -
- Philip (8/5): Very good -
- Andreas (10/5): Best hotel for calm - Perfect small hotel with impeccable service and great breakfast
- Nitesh (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samuel (9/5): Superb - We enjoyed the style of the hotel, and the staff treated you as if you were family. The food was lovely, and if you requested something that was not on the menu they made it for you. The only thing that disappointed us was the distance from the V & A waterfront. We had to uber to and from it and this meant we had to add time to our journey if we had booked a restaurant for dinner. It also added to the cost of your stay.
- Chantal2 (10/5): A Customer Service Masterclass - This was our first stop on our first trip to South Africa. We arrived slightly tired from the night flight, and were immediately put at our ease by Hope who patiently discussed our itinerary with us. She gave fantastic advice, helped us make bookings, and made us feel welcome, safe and very happy to be there. We had a lovely room ( no 1) although i think they all share a good view of the Mountain, when it doesn't have it's table cloth on! We were a bit worried about the location which was as 15 min Uber drive to Waterside and 10 mins to the centre of town, but in fact it was perfect. An Uber journey generally sets you back about £5. It is a little oasis and very handy for so many excellent restaurants eg Black Sheep and the Kloof Street house. When Hope wasn't around, Gillian took over and wa equally proactive and helpful. All in all, this is not just a wonderful place to stay it is also a masterclass in customer service.
- Anonymous (9/5): 2 night stay from London - - very helpful staff
- great location
- little perks (teapot tea and free bottle of wine)
- great room - dining area could be improved to feel more upmarket
- Daniel (9/5): Superb - A very modern and stylish hotel, located in one of the trendiest neighbourhoods of Cape Town, where I enjoyed perfect service, a nicely furnished room and an excellent breakfast. The small pool area in the front yard is perfect to chill a little bit (although the sun goes away in the late afternoon). Unfortunately, the rooms are not very well insulated against noise from the street and from other guests. Moreover, having myself recently stayed in other hotels of the same kind, I can definitely say there is better value for money to be found in this neighbourhood.
- Roam24096093189 (10/5): COZY, HOMEY VIBES WITH GREAT FOOD! - We loved Kensington Place! This was the first stop on on our honeymoon and we're so glad it was. The breakfast was exceptional each morning. The hotel itself was stunning and everyone made us feel at home. We would 1000% recommend to anyone staying in Cape Town!
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- 266divyac (10/5): Kensington Place is A+ - My stay at Kensington Place was truly exceptional. The staff's warm and attentive service made me feel right at home, and their dedication to ensuring a wonderful experience was evident throughout, starting with the warm welcome we received from Jillian, the front desk manager and the bottle of wine in our room.)
The delicious food was a highlight, especially the breakfast (be sure to try the Salmon Rosti!), the rooms were incredibly comfortable (yoga mats and weights were included!) and the bathroom had luxurious toiletries.
If you're looking for a boutique hotel in Cape Town - Kensington Place is the perfect choice for a memorable stay.
- MrHendu (10/5): Great Place To Stay!! - Stayed two nights prior to safari in Botswana. Staff was very welcoming with a bottle of wine in our room and recommendations for dinner during our stay. Rooms were very comfortable and security made you feel safe at all times. There are a couple restaurants/bars just down the hill within walking distance and Uber is readily available if you prefer dining in the city/harbor area. Breakfast started at 7:00am with made to order meals and was a great way to start the day. Thanks for a great stay!
- Blake (10/5): Great hotel for the Value - Great hotel for the value when visiting Cape Town. Beautiful property and the staff was very helpful. They also serviced a menu style breakfast every morning that was included. The rooms were small but for the value, it’s hard to beat this hotel.
- kokoro0407 (10/5): Boutique hotel with class - Gilian was always around to provide assistance and she has really stylish spectacles. The room was big and clean. We even had a private patio to ourselves. Breakfast was delicious and the hot choc was a must for me at least once a day. Good restaurants are only 2mins' drive away.
- Stephen (10/5): Perfect Cape Town accommodation - The hotel and staff were faultless. Nothing.
- Jeffrey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Modadeola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ian (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely wonderful hotel. Nothing
- Nicole (9/5): Superb -
- Max25 (10/5): The most wonderfully charming and well located boutique hotel in Cape Town. - I'm often wary of small boutique hotels as being heavy handed with their style, and light on service. This is not one of those hotels - in fact I can't remember a time I've been more impressed or felt more attended to than at Kensington Place. First it's in a gorgeous bit of Cape Town that is quiet and green nestled at the base of Table Mountain, but is so very close to the action of Kloof St, the city bowl and over Kloof Nek the Eastern Seaboard that you couldn't ask for a better combo.
Second - it's got what I'd call an almost LA-like design style - perfectly manicured - the gardens, the cleverly considered public spaces, the pool area - with muted understatement punctuated with dashes of African flair and expression. A very comfortable place to be - with a lovely big room with wonderful views and right up to date with amenities like USB chargers next to the bed.
But the lingering impression was the wonderfully friendly service - such a warm welcome, followed by super-attentive things - I needed a plaster and they provided, I needed a birthday card and they provided; the breakfast you can have almost any time of day, and it's good, they welcome you to use the hotel as your home, and it felt like they really meant it. I can't think of a better boutique hotel experience I've had, ever. So they're doing something very right. Wish we were staying longer, and would definitely come back.
- Philip (9/5): Superb - would thoroughly recommend and excellent staff. quiet corner of Cape Town…
- Jacqueline (9/5): we had a wonderful stay here with views to Table Mountain . very helpful with planning how to spend our time and dinner -
- Ornella (10/5): fabulous and totally recommended - The staff and service are amazing. the pillows - more variety for different preferences would be great.
- Derek (9/5): Superb -
- Smriti (10/5): - Amazing Stay!
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynda (9/5): Superb -
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alex (9/5): Peaceful hotel in a fantastic location for exploring CT, Kloof Street and Camps Bay -
- Carina (10/5): Outstanding Hotel - Highly Recommend! - We absolutely loved our stay at Kensington place. Our room was modern and had a spacious balcony with amazing views of Table Mountain. The breakfast was fantastic, could be served to the room, and was available late for those of us who like to sleep in. The service was also outstanding - they had plenty of suggestions, were very attentive, would put hot water bottles in our bed at night, and would offer to send tea up to our room when we got back from dinner. The lobby and grounds are also beautiful. It was too chilly to use the pool, but we enjoyed sitting around the fireplace. The area is very quiet and peaceful, and was convenient for exploring the rest of Cape Town. Our only two (small) criticisms are that the pillows were too firm and the bathroom was a bit small (not much counter space for toiletries).
- Luke (9/5): Superb -
- Becky (10/5): Brilliant - Fantastic. Friendly. Would highly recommend. Nothing seemed too much trouble
- Andrew (10/5): Great choice - A really nice place in a quiet location in the centre of town.
- Andrew (10/5): Fantastic place - This is a really lovely place in a very nice location. The rooms are beautifully fitted out. The staff were all really friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Stay here! - LOVE LOVE LOVE KP. Service was amazing and the room and grounds just perfect. Highly recommend when visiting Cape Town
- Alex (10/5): Honeymoon - Amazing stay. Beautiful location, hotel, food, staff and city. Must stay for anyone visiting Cape Town.
- James (10/5): Great boutique hotel - Great service and attention to detail a bit remote but cheap and easy to get around by uber
- Verified traveler (10/5): great place - fantastic service - We really enjoy this fantastic place in Cape Town. Best hotel we ever stay in South Africa !
- Georgia Shafia (4/5): Good vacation - Hello,
Everything was lovely. You could have offered a glass of wine and crackers before dinner as other hotels in the area do. I purchased tickets to Table mountain thru you but your suggested guide Rory did not wish to go that day. Next day we were busy and the15 Feb. It was impossible to go as funiculars were not going due to wind. I asked Jocelyn for a refund and she said not possible to take off our credit card or to sell to another guest. This left a bad feeling with me for a hotel of high caliber. I wish you would refund our money.we would like to come again next year. Sincerely, Georgia Shafia
- Shekoe (10/5): A Bit of Heaven In Cape Town - Spent four nights at this lovely, small hotel slightly off the beaten track of Cape Town, at the base of Table Mountain. The architecture is contemporary, the decor eclectic with an African flair. My room (#2) opened to a balcony that had a beautiful view of Table Mountain to the right and Cape Town Central including the harbor straight ahead. The queen bed was very comfortable and the heated floors most welcome on the chilly July mornings. Complimentary breakfast served in the sunny dining area included a selection of fresh-squeezed juices, speciality egg dishes, brewed to order beverages, and freshly baked breads. Service by the staff was seamless and always with a smile. The hotel was spotless. The staff was very knowledgable regarding tourist venues and willing to make such arrangements. As the hotel is located in a residential area, I heard several dogs barking in the early evening (a bit annoying) but they did not awaken me during the night. If you or a member of your party is physically challenged, be aware I did not see wheelchair ramps or an elevator nor do I think the showers are wheelchair friendly. You will need taxis or a rental car as well. You can't walk to most of the typical tourist attractions. Despite these few drawbacks, I still rate this hotel five stars.
