We absolutely adored Ben and I thought it was very sweet that he remembered my daughter from the night before and asked about her dance competition. In fact, every staff member we talked to about why we were staying at the hotel asked how she did and wished her a happy birthday on Saturday! I know we were in downtown Richmond, but I thought it was a bit expensive for a 2 night stay that didn't include breakfast or parking, not even complimentary coffee.

- Virginiagal123 (4/5): Don't Trust the Front Desk - The hotel was having computer issues that day. I had booked a corner room with 2 queen beds. We checked in for our Corner Room, but were told there wasn't one available. The last available corner room had been given to another couple requesting a room upgrade. I was told the front desk person who did this was new and should not have done this in light of the computer issues. I was told by the supervisor, Catherine Bautista, we would be put in another 2 queen room and the first night would not be charged. We were also told we could have a complimentary breakfast at Starbucks the next morning. We were switched to a corner room for Saturday night. When we checked out on Sunday, not only was the room given to us for Friday night charged to our bill, but the charge was HIGHER than our corner room nightly charge AND all of the Starbucks items were charged to the room. I called Catherine Bautista several times and left messages asking for assistance as well as sent her an email on December 8, 2025 and none of this communication received a response. I was very disappointed and have been staying at the Quirk Hotel when in Richmond since this occurred.

- Paolo Ennio (4/5): Great hotel if you skip breakfast. - Location, room layout and overall cleanness. Breakfast is not what you expect from a 4 star hotel. Hardly any choice. Only 1 type of bread (white toast) that run out when we came and had to wait 10 minutes to get it filled up. No cheese or any premium ingredients to hope for; only industrial food. In light of this, spending $400 for 1 night appears on the high side.

I tried calling the front desk MULTIPLE times, however, nobody answered the phone one time!! Also, the fact that a shuttle only runs from 7 am-7pm is crazy!

My room was clean but I had to flush the toilet a few times for it to clear. Valet parking was located right at the front. Cliff, the valet attendant, was friendly and thoroughly explained the process for requesting your car.

- victoriafV8641JS (2/5): Terrible customer service experience and untrustworthy valet service - As we attempted to check out and retrieve our car from the Marriott valet, we discovered that the valet who took our car in the night before had misplaced our car key, failed to register that our car was checked in to the valet lot, and even put the wrong state for our license plate. Luckily we were able to confirm that the car was in the lot using our own vehicle app, but the valet on duty was unable to locate the key. The resulting 90-minute delay led to a series of absolutely awful customer service interactions with Marriott staff. We had been speaking with the valet, who indicated he had called his manager and then continued to fetch cars for other guests while he waited for that individual to arrive. The overnight front desk customer service rep noticed after 45 minutes that we were still in the lobby and finally came over to ask if she could do something to assist us. She was, however, unwilling to make the effort to call her manager or the valet company management contact. Following the conversation, during which I was certainly frustrated and worried that we would not be able to retrieve our vehicle if they had lost our key, the employee returned to the desk and began talking loudly to another employee about me - still not doing anything to contact hotel management or the valet company to help us. Upon arrival about 1 hour into this ordeal, a Marriott manager (who did not provide his name) gave us conflicting information about whether our key had been located, stated he would add Bonvoy points to our account, and told us repeatedly that although the valet is a service promoted by the hotel, the valet company is a third party so he (the manager) was not responsible. After about 90 minutes, the valet on duty managed to locate our key and we were finally able to leave. He did not tell us where he found it, just brought the car around and hurried off after giving the key to us. This was about 7:30 am on Saturday, 11/30. The manager advised that 1) we would hear from him and 2) that the points would be applied to the account soon. I verified verbally that he had the information he required to add the points, and he said he did. I provided my cell phone number for contact and watched him put it in his phone. But guess what? As of this writing, there has been zero follow up and zero points added to my account for the unacceptable situation Marriott delivered. To their credit, the valet company manager did follow up by email the next day, providing a full refund for the valet fee and an apology for the wait time. We were shocked to have such an awful experience at a Marriott and would highly discourage folks from staying at this property. If something were to go wrong, appropriate accountability and response is unlikely to occur.

- savvyconsumera (6/5): They Fell Short of Expectations - The room was initially clean, and bed very comfortable. The staff were pleasant, though not well informed about the local tourist sights. Internet connectivity was poor. My main complaints are two: we were charged for two purchases from the lobby “market,” though we had purchased nothing—so check your bill carefully. Also, no one came to clean our room during our stay (ie, beds were not made, wet towels not replaced). That seems really off when you are paying more than $200 a night for the room. Thanks to the other reviewers who warned me against the hotel’s valet parking. At $44 a day, it is a ridiculous ripoff. Right across the street from both the front and side of the hotel are commercial lots that charge $12-17 a night. Come on Marriot, stop being so greedy.

Staff was so friendly and atmosphere is really nice which is why we stayed again. Great value if you are a Marriott BonVoy member. On this trip we give a shout out to Cliff at Valet. He belongs on stage and on tv. He's funny while also being professional. He's an asset to Marriott for sure.

The courtyard in the middle of the property was nice and quiet at times. The bar wasn’t great service, the food was subpar. They were out of several items. The flatbread I ordered was more like pizza with a thick crust. The server did not make the basic whiskey sour or margarita properly. I had to ask for several additions to fix her ratios.

- annabU977UT (10/5): Good hotel in a great spot - Solid hotel in a great location. Rooms are clean and large, the staff is friendly and helpful. The front desk and valet both went out of their way to be helpful. Of particular note, Cliff at the front door recommended the best coffee spot (Urban Farmer) and walked me there himself! He was an absolute delight and made our stay!!
- Annalyssia (10/5): Great location, across street from parking garage. - While my stay here was very short I would like to say that the service by Lenin and Athena was immaculate. They were so sweet and welcoming from check in to check out. I’ll be returning to Richmond in the future and plan to stay here again and hope to see them. I also loved how clean and spacious the rooms were. The neighborhood view was nice as well and the lobby had a very welcoming feel to it.

- John (10/5): - Everything was great! Just be forewarned if you own a large truck there will be no garage parking available and if you’re lucky you can park on the cobble stone street out front for your stay. Other than that it’s a rough parking lot option and if your truck is loaded with valuables good luck sleeping at night.
- Vincent (8/5): - Nice hotel staff for the most part. City was pretty wild and a lot of late night noise. There were some rowdy patrons on our floor running around at 3 in the morning.
- Brian (10/5): - Hotel was clean and comfortable. Some outside noise, but it’s to be expected in a downtown location. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Convenient location with plenty of restaurants and bars in walking distance. Easy to uber to and from. Would stay again
- Isabel (8/5): - Area outside the property is mainly eating businesses. A bit of a hike to tourist areas. Rooms are cleaned every other day. Parking was free. Food availability at hotel was chips on the Sat pm and the menu, which was not tempting - just 4 options for the main menu, on the Sun pm. No water bottles in room... you get given a small one on booking in. I would stay again... Thank you! :)
