Guest Reviews
- Bradley (10/5): Fantastic place to stay! - Arenal Green is fantastic!! You’re own private cabin in comfortable and clean. The staff is amazing and the breakfast exceptional. We’ll certainly be back!!
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quaint bungalow - It was as expected, the room was clean & size was okay. Large shower. The refrigerator was not very cold (might be a Costa Rica thing), breakfast was good!! Wildlife was loud, also as expected. Rooms are not sound proof (you will hear your neighbors). If noise bother you, bring ear plugs. The location was close to town.
- Rick (8/5): Great location - Close to everything you want to see around Volcan Arenal. Convenient to La Fortuna. Howler monkeys and rain pounding on the roof complete your night time experience.
- Volker (10/5): Awesome hotel in La Fortuna - We stayed at Arenal Green hotel for 4 nights. The location is great, outside of the main hustle and bustle of the town. It is in easy walking distance of the waterfalls and zip lines. The owner is super friendly. He is there all the time and tries everything to show you a good time. He suggested the day pass for Baldi hot springs which we bought through him and got it for much less than at Baldi.
He noticed that I am always hungry, so "forced" a second breakfast on me. Breakfast is included. The hotel grounds are green and lush. Rooms are separate cabins. The showers are huge and water hot which was nice as the weather was cool and wet.
We would totally recommend the place and would definitely stay there again.
- Leonid Z. (8/5): - Nice 7-bungalos hotel close to the attractions and to the La Fortuna town. Welcoming staff. Fair wifi reception. Big parking. You can order your activities right from the hotel.
- James (10/5): Great “base camp” for Arenal Activities - Arenal Green is a fantastic Hotel to base yourself in during a stay in La Fortuna. The individual cabin style rooms are very nicely made and furnished and help maintain the “Jungle” vibe.
Although the hotel is a mile or so out of La Fortuna it is an easy walk (with a nice restaurant on route) or a short taxi ride.
On the flip side, it is close enough to La Cascada de Rio Fortuna and the Cerro Chato trail to start your adventure from the hotel on foot.
The owner was very helpful and courteous as were all the staff.
In Summary, highly recommendable especially for the price.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A comfortable stay - Cute wood cabin in a nice area. The only issue is no sound proofing. I could hear next cabin tv and people talking in the parking lot.
- Thomas (8/5): - Good value for money
- Eltie (8/5): Quiet and delightful - Inviting cabanas and grounds. Well maintained. The onsite restaurant was good. It wasn't downtown but still close to activities. It is just down the street from the waterfall The room did not have a closet. The beds were firm, which we love.
- Gigg (8/5): - Small resort away from downtown Fortuna, but walkable during daytime. Very nice authentic Costa Rican breakfast (free), the restaurant on site is open all the time until 10pm but takes quite a long time to bring out food. The resort is next door to a chocolate tour and a coffee tour. Helpful staff, though some are not fluent in English. Comfortable stay. Beautiful view. Very close to the nature.
- Maria (10/5): Great place, friendly staff - I had a wonderful time at Arenal Green. The staff, the grounds, and restaurant was amazing. The staff helped me out with tours and recommended great restaurants in town. Loved it!
- Brett (10/5): Beautiful views in the rain forest - Our stay at Arenal Green was amazing! From check-in with Marco, the friendly, family feel was present. We asked for dinner recommendations and he turned us on to a wonderful restaurant that our whole family loved! The beautiful pictures they have on-line do not do it justice; the grounds are so much better than pictures show! The rooms were very clean, beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is included and it was delicious! They have a smoothie bar they operate in the afternoon and we are a smoothie family. The fruit smoothies are made from all fresh fruit that is cut and blended for you....beyond tasty! Diana booked some adventures for us and saved us money rather than if we had done it on our own through an on-line site. Great people there, great price, great views, great location close to everything you want to do. We LOVED staying with them and will again when we revisit Costa Rica 🇨🇷. ¡Pura Vida!
- Brett (10/5): Amazing views from a clean comfortable room - The pictures don't do it justice. The staff, Diana and Marco, were so friendly and gave great tips on where to eat. They helped us secure reservations for activities for cheaper than if we had done it. Such an amazing experience! If our travels bring us back to Costa Rica again, we will stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great stay! Friendly and very helpful staff! Would definitely recommend
- Kyle (10/5): Great hotel. beautiful place. - The staff were all friendly and helpful. The man at reception spoke English and was helpful with our booking of a hot spring. Our cabin was clean and comfortable with AC and a little fridge. The breakfast was good and the coffee was great. I spent some time on the grounds while injured and it is a very lovely place full of green trees, plants, flowers, lots of birds. It is well maintained and groomed but still has a very natural rainforest feel. some nice hammocks across the bridge to read a book in.
- Jessica (8/5): Cozy - We stayed 2 nights at Arenal Green with our 2 girls aged 11 and 13. The grounds were beautiful and the staff very pleasant and helpful. We did find the interior of the cabin quite small, even though the bathroom is quite large. There were no places to hang coats, etc but we just improvised and hung things up to dry as best we could. The breakfast was amazing and the view from the eating area very beautiful. The breakfast itself was delicious. I had the traditional breakfast both days and have to say it was the best breakfast I had the whole time I was in Costa Rica! Our girls had the fruit breakfast and they loved it.
- Guillermo (10/5): Good find near La Fortuna - Great spot near La Fortuna, especially if you have a rental car. Room was perfect, bed a bit too firm but nothing to ding them for.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Nice grounds, poor accommodations. - If you're looking for a rustic bungalow experience where the walls have 4 large openings covered only with screens, where WiFi and TV set reception are unpredictable, and where the furniture's wooden panels and wall screens keep falling out, you've found your place! In addition to the bungalow walls being paper thin, there are no solid walls on two sides of it, and with the neighboring bungalow having the same configuration and being just about 10 feet away, you would hear everything happening next door. Also, an air conditioning has a bright light illuminating the entire room all night and making it difficult to sleep.
- Chad (10/5): Centrally located. Great staff. Very clean. - Super nice staff. Very accommodating!
They took very good care of us. The property is located close to a number of great attractions in Arenal. I recommend it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful hotel grounds. - We loved this hotel. Great location near La Fortuna waterfall. The property was beautiful and the staff were friendly and helpful. We'd definitely stay here again!
- Xiomara (10/5): Amazing! - This place is amazing, beautiful, quiet and you can rest and relax!
- Kathy (10/5): Wake up to the sound of birds chirping - Loved this place! From the morning wake-up call of birds outside our cabin, to Blanca's breakfast, to Marco's help with excursions and Herman's attentive care to the property. The location is very convenient - next door to the chocolate tour, and a short hop to downtown La Fortunate. From this location, we very conveniently went to the waterfalls, whitewater rafting, zip lining, Maleku healing plants tour, shopping, restaurants and thermal baths. It is family-owned and operated. Because we went in the rainy season, there were no crowds - just highly personalized service. Don't let rainy season scare you away. It is awesome. Beautiful skies, followed by 20 minutes of pour down, followed by beautiful skies. Happens once in the day, and sometimes again at night. Makes for a nice slow-down-the-pace break between activities and a great night's sleep. The rain on the Spanish tile roof of the cabin is like a hug.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Beautiful View of Arenal Volcano - The hotel is comprised of bungalows, providing privacy from neighbors. We rented the largest bungalow for 6 people which was equipped with 3 queen beds, 1.5 bathrooms (1 with shower, other just a toilet/sink) and a kitchen. There were lovely hammocks hanging outside our bungalow for us to just relax and take in the sights. Very close to the city of La Fortuna, about 2 miles away. Hotel staff as very friendly and accommodating, helped us book activities and provided us with breakfast as requested. Staff cleaned the room everyday.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Lovely little bungalows - This was a very comfortable clean little spot. The family that owns and runs it were all very nice and accommodating.
- Happy in La For (10/5): Excellent family run hotel - Had a great experience. Helpful and friendly staff. No problems with only speaking English. Great breakfasts. Location good provided you have a car.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Great Family Hotel - The people were friendly, service was great, and we loved our outdoor living room and kitchen!!
- Djunaedi (6/5): - Nice area to relax for the price
- John (8/5): - We enjoyed our stay at this hotel, our cabins were small but had everything we needed including a fridge and air conditioning. The staff of this family run hotel were great and always willing to answer our questions. The breakfast that is included in the price was a nice bonus. The location is a 5 minute drive from the centre of La Fortuna and all the major sites are within a 30 minute drive with some, like the La Fotuna waterfall, just a few minutes away. I would use this hotel sgain if returning to the area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quite bungalow - Bungalow was clean, a/c worked very well. The food was very good! Even the free breakfast! Service was great as well! However, there are no closets and the bathroom has no place to set toiletries! Not within walking distance to anything, but we had a car so that was ok.
- Jerry (8/5): very happy with Aerial Green - free breakfast was very good
parking was good
helpful staff
- Rennye (4/5): Arenal Green - mediocre customer service - The property was fine. Short cab ride or 25 minute walk. I was less satisfied with the customer service especially by Michael who is the person I interacted the most with. Simple requests like having breakfast ready 30 minutes early or not having my room cleaned were ignored for the most part. The chef is great and his food was delicious. I would find somewhere else to stay next time.
- World Traveler (10/5): Very Nice place - I love this place. They upgraded me with a better room with a kitchen. Hotel is located in a very calm place and a nice view of Arenal Volcano. Very friendly staff made a big different.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel with volcano views - Hotel was in a really cute setting; loved having our own cabin; A/C was very welcoming at night; mattresses could have been softer; breakfast was good; staff was helpful.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Well maintained small hotel - Wasn't brand-new though. I was comfortable, although the bed sagged a little. Wasn't that far from the waterfall. Less than 10 minutes to town by car. Breakfast was ok, though nothing to cheer about. I would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel staff are extremely friendly and helpful, and the fruit smoothie stand is a must try too!! Warning: rain and birds can be loud ;-)
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming - Staff very nice, sugar cane drink excellent. Lovely grounds.
- Sébastien (8/5): Nice location, not in noisy downtown La Fortuna. - We stayed there 2 nights. Room price was good, location was great, the bungalow was comfortable and well integrated in surrounding vegetation. Near the Arenal.
- Moi (10/5): Amazing Hotel, 1 word AMAZING! - This hotel is small, personal and family run. Amazing experience with them, they truly represent Costa Rica. If you are looking to experience costa rica authentically than this is the place to stay. I fell in love with this place, I would rather stay here then in a 4 star or 5 star hotel.
- navin (10/5): Great stay close to La Fortuna Waterfall - Great little place. Family run. They really went out of their way to take care of us. Rooms were cleaned daily. It is a cabin and you are in a more rural forest setting (for the whole town really), so heat and bugs are present, but not really a problem in the rooms. AC worked well. Bathrooms good sized and working well, clean. Close to the La Fortuna waterfall, and we saw many people walking from there to waterfall. The new restaurant there was fantastic, some of the best prepared food we had (food quality like a really good 4 or 5 star restaurant in the states).
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good hotel, but you can find better - Stayed for one night. Overall average hotel. Nothing majorly wrong. The rooms are smaller than average. The staff is friendly, but not particularly willing to go out of their way to serve you. The grounds are pretty, but not great compared to other hotels in CR. The breakfast is good but doesn't stand out.
- Anat (6/5): Nice Small Rooms - The rooms are clean and nice. The breakfast are is on the main road. The furnitures are run down. Breakfast is depressing
- Neil (10/5): Great Volcano Hotel - Great location down the road from the waterfall in La Fortuna. On a quiet side street, but a short drive (or slightly long walk) to the town center as well as the main road with restaurants. About 20 min driving from the Arenal Volcano National Park. Breakfast every day was delicious (get the "typical plate"), and hotel staff was friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations and activities nearby. Cabin #8 is secluded and peaceful, with an amazing view of the volcano right in front of it, especially on a clear day - you can see it from the bed or while sitting on the little porch in the morning.
- Anya (10/5): Great Stay! - Beautiful setting with a great view of the volcano.
Super close to town and the waterfall.
Lots of birds!
- Maria A. (8/5): Good hotel, limited breakfast - Overall is a very nice hotel, breakfast was included in the reservation, is a typical breakfast but coffee is limited, they provide only 1 jar for wherever amount of people reserved, so for example we were 4 persons, only 1 little cup for each one and an additional jar is $3, and if we we were only 2 persons it would be the same jar. I also think breakfast should be buffet style and includes fruits. If you want a breakfast with fruits you have to pay $7 additional. So that's the only thing in my opinion to improve.
- Douglas (8/5): Great place to stay in Fortuna - Great family run place. Great service, nice tranquil grounds with great view of the volcano.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Friendly staff. Great comfortable rooms. Close to town and many of the local activities. Highly recommend this a reasonable place to stay when in Arenal.
- Dan (10/5): Great get away! - Nice small group of units located just outside of La Fortuna, which is an easy 25 minute walk or cab ride away. Very helpful staff that helped me arrange 2 and 1/2 days of activities as well as a shuttle to San Jose. I recommend the short hike to the waterfall. Comfortable and clean units.
- Rajeevkumar (8/5): La Fortuna very safe and very friendy people - Very safe area; close to everything. Downtown Fortuna is 2.5km walking. I walked from my hotel to downtown la Fortuna several times even at 11pm at night in the darkness. Its very safe and very friendly. I would stay there again.
- Jackie (10/5): Great place to stat - We stayed for 2 nights. Friendly staff, easy check in.
- Rachel (10/5): Lovely hotel, very close to the falls. - We did not stay at this hotel. Hotels.com failed to cancel our reservation when I cancelled it. I did go to the hotel to try and sort it out and they were wonderful. The lobby area was beautiful and clean. The staff were great and very helpful in trying to rectify the problem. Sadly it was not solved....yet. The only reason we did not stay here was a change of plans and availability. Rating neutral on things that I did not use.
