Guest Reviews
- Aine (2/5): - Unhygienic.
Stay away unless you want to get sick.
There was no warning that the water was not fit to brush your teeth with, or shower in, let alone drink. The owners neglected to inform guests of this, despite knowing. This is a major health issue.
Many guests, all in different rooms, who didn’t know each other, were throwing up.
I wasn’t going to write a review but I am pregnant and have to seek medical attention after staying there due to unsafe water, so I want to warn others. It is not good enough that they are knowingly getting people sick.
On top of the water supply issue, you can smell how unclean the place is when you open the door to your room due to the lack of house keeping. There are no mattress protectors on the beds. The bath has hair and soap scum on it, so we didn’t use it. We showered with thongs on.
We all got sick after 12 hours of checking in, so did the people in other rooms.
At check in, I was collecting keys for family who were still on their way. I was told that they hadn’t paid, when they did. This might have been an honest mistake, but who knows?
I was also given the wrong room and the owner blamed the booking agent, even though I paid for a family room. It got fixed after he was swearing in front of me. Very unprofessional.
The reception area is used as the owner’s lounge and dining room. I felt like I was interrupting the whole family who lives there when I went to check in.
- Charlie (2/5): - This is the dirtiest place I’ve ever stayed in my life the carpet is black the room is covered in dust and dirt and the mattresses don’t have sheet protectors. I highly recommend that you don’t stay there!
- Lionel (4/5): - Park and buildings are run down and look neglected with spikey trees in the carpark outside the room that stab you every time you get out of your car, plumbing system is a joke with toilets blocking and backing up in every room, the room is decent sized but the tv was damaged and wasn't that great and the bed was hard as rock, it was bareable but only because it was cheap
- Sharon (2/5): - Cockroach in the bathroom, no swimming pool as there was no water in it, the beds were like bean bags, the service was slow, they were watching TV when we arrived, when we got to the room it wasn't cleaned and it was discussing, wasnt happy at all paid $165.00 for a room and it supplied noting, no room services or anything
- Shiva (10/5): - Great staff, clean property and good service 👍
- Verified traveler (10/5): One night - A quiet, comfortable stay. I would definitely stay here again. Very affordable.
- Chetan (6/5): - Lot of noise by other guests at night even after 11:30 PM.
The supplies are very short socked.
Felt guilty asking for tea-coffee, tissue box, toilet papers etc.
- Corinne (10/5): - Really nice place, huge rooms! About a 3 min drive out of town.
- Xinghua (10/5): - big living area with family, clean, tidy and friendly staff, easy access to all attractions
- ENG NI (6/5): - No TV remote and no microwave available, shower good and bed good. Dead flys on shower, looks like not being used awhile
- Angelina (4/5): - Feels like the kind of motel you watch on TV when terrible things happen to you. Very run down and old. Can tell this is a place for a quick stop over while in the midst of travelling. Like for truckies.
- Deborah (2/5): - Dirty cups dead blowflies bugs
Kettle didn’t even boil properly.
Never stay there again
Shower head needs a descaling and an overhaul of cleaning
- Ren (2/5): - One night stopover and sleep was constantly interrupted by other guests ruuning and yelling in the corridors.
Woke up covered in little bites all over my body.
- Deb (8/5): - Was nice, had everything we needed. Good value
- Lokesh (10/5): - Very nice property, helpful staff and very clean place for family
- Ashley (10/5): - Ni big roomy room. Clean and friendly hosts. Definitely will stay again when next in the region
- minh (8/5): - Extremely friendly staffs
- Mohammad (10/5): - Wonderful
- Hellen (8/5): - Although the motel is old and a little run down our room was extremely clean The beds were comfortable and the sheets very clean & white
- Riya (10/5): - Helen and Mike were like a family and helped and guided us in certain ways... The place is so quite and beautiful...
- Azahar (6/5): - Fair condition
- Jean-Pierre (2/5): - The was no attendance. Dirty concierge. Dirty place. No one as guest. Should not be on wotif.
- Seli (10/5): - Very friendly staff on site , thanks fr the great stay : )
PS we love Mt Gamiber , everyone who can should visit !!
- Peter (8/5): - Very friendly welcoming advising of a problem out of thier control and fixed asap
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very run done. Ran out of water and was unable to shower on one night.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Rooms are comfortable but carpet and painting needs updating.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Its great to hear Helen and Mike are revamping the motel. I look forward to coming back to see their efforts.
- Surag (6/5): An OK room for a night's stay - Rooms look a bit old, but clean, the toilet could be a bit more cleaner. AC/heater is a bit old , but did the work in summer for me.Overall the stay was OK.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - For the value in Mount Gambier the facility was way below standard.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - IT was clean easy to acsess with No problems finding it
- Casey (4/5): - We were the only guests staying for the 2 nights we stayed. Place very run down. Our room was ok, but over run with ants. Bathroom tiles extremely slippery when wet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Loved the room as it had plenty of space and was clean
Sadly there was limited internet service 😔
- Verified traveler (4/5): - the Overall veneer if the property is a bit dated and run down. The room I saw was spacious, clean, but alas smokey. A previous visitor must have smoked in the room or stood outside and smoke wafted in. Unfortunately no one was contactable at reception. The lass I eventually spoke with on the phone was very helpful, but was unable to assist and I had to cancel booking.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Wasn't a good experience looked desserted only thing missing was the friendly ghost eerie
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Property was dirty and run down, tiled floors are sticky, carpets filthy, bugs in the bed, spiders in all the corners. Unfortunately there was no other accommodation available due to a music festival in Mt Gambier. We asked for the room to be cleaned, reception came in, had a look and did nothing. Cobwebs everywhere. Beds extremely uncomfortable. Also you cant drink the water. The worst motel I have ever stayed in. Wotif need to remove this Motel from their site or rate it as one star.
- Stacey (8/5): - Property could use some maintenance but the rooms were clean and comfortable for basic accommodation.
- John (6/5): A four night stay - Fairly good for the price , could use a little updating and needs more attention to cleaning in the bathroom. A few k's from mount Gambier which was not a problem for us considering that it was a fairly quite area .The free internet was very quick. The parking area was right outside the door and was quite wide, a bonus if you did not want your car dented. Bedding and towels seemed very clean.
- primus (4/5): - The motel is in need of a cash injection.
There was a note left on the mirror in bathroom stating "The water is not fit for consumption, thank you for your understanding"
No bottled water was supplied.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Horrible hotel, it was filthy, unkept, unsafe. I was horrified when I stepped foot into the room with my family. Ants everywhere, spiders, filthy walls, the list goes on. I honestly don’t know how they even got a 3 star rating, it wasn’t even a 1. We left and I couldn’t bare to stay there with my family. PLEASE WHAT EVER YOU DO DON’T stay there. The only bonus is that I got my money totally refunded.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Bathroom was old, dirty and outdated, room smelt disgusting, floors were stained, pillows were terrible and mattresses were worn and cause you to sleep on a lean, water not drinkable, shower had continual surges of heat (not safe for children to to have showers), toilet was dirty, lots of spiders in the room and outside light was burnt out. Air con worked well.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - just needs an upgrade but for a one night stay was ok
- Sandy (8/5): - Good for onenight stay, nice and quite area to sleep
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Huge room and quite comfortable. Aging decor and a bit outside town, but comfortable
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The bed was comfy, room was plenty of space, lean and neat. heating was efficient. Big amount of parking area, friendly and helpful staff .Great Value for money!
- Paul (8/5): - Comfortable beds
- Peter (8/5): - Friendly staff. nice room for the price. needs a light above the tea and coffee bench
- DC (4/5): Past glory - This is a big place but has not been maintained or renovated recently. The room was clean but the bathroom smelled musty and the shower head sprouted unexpected leaks. If you don’t want to pay much for a bed it is ok. The free wifi was so slow we could not get a connection.
