- Cui-Zhu (10/5): - This Classic and traditional Japanese resort was wonderful! We decided to splurge and booked w half board- the breakfast and Dinner - all very traditional Japanese food, tasty and beautifully presented. We reserved the Japanese style room and enjoyed the comfortable futon. The Ofuro was empty when we went so we really enjoyed the ofuro - make sure to check out both the 6th floor and 2nd floor ofuro (M/F switch times). It was so close to the hakone yumoto station where it was convenient as the starting point for area sightseeing. For arrival, we took a bus from Okayama JR station for ¥480 which dropped us off half a block away from this Ryokan. Would recommend this Ryokan.
- Cedric (8/5): Très chouette onsen - Nous avons passé une nuit dans cet hôtel. Le très gros plus a été son onsen, l'un des meilleurs que l'on ait eu au Japon avec vue sur les montagnes. Le diner et le petit-déjeuner était très bons et nous avons eu droit à une animation par des geishas. Ombres au tableau, notre salle de bain avait été mal nettoyée et nous étions proches des turbines de ventilation un peu bruyante.

- Wat Yuen (10/5): - 位置非常方便，面對早川，櫻花季節酒店前即可欣賞到櫻花～酒店內設施齊全，入住時職員非常親切帶路介紹各個地方和設施，最喜歡面對河川的戶外足湯、大浴場和禮品店。我們的早晚餐都在房裡進行，有一位管家照顧，熟知酒店和餐飲食材，每餐細心介紹豐富食物，亦會非常友善和我們聊幾句。這次住宿非常放鬆，隨時可以享受溫泉，餐飲非常美味。謝謝管家的悉心照顧，我們很開心到河鹿莊住宿！希望將來可以買到河鹿莊特製的餐前酒，真的一試難忘！
- Verified traveler (2/5): Good onsen, terrible staff. - Other than the onsen, the staff attitude and room set up was terrible. Amenities were not set up to the correct number of guests, even after requests were made correct amenities were not sent up to the room. The property charges over 30,000 yen, I expect better service and better attitude from the employees
- Ho Lun (8/5): - 整體溫泉旅館體驗是舒適的，欣賞食物高尚感覺，私人風呂水質及環境良好，迎賓食物及飲品有限時間內自由飲用，唯一不足就是食物份量較少，而且款式不多
- Savannah Renee (8/5): - The entrance into the building is nice and inviting. We checked in and were given two keys to the room, which are actual keys and not a card. Once we got to "our room" it was quickly discovered that there was an error in check in. Other people's belongings were still in the room and it was not the type of room we booked. Thankfully the people were not in the room and we called the front desk to let them know of the issue. They immediately came up and verified that they made a mistake and apologized profusely. They did fix the room issue and got us settled into the right room. They also gave us an apology gift for the mishap. The room had a great view of the river and the cherry blossoms. We had the half board, the food was pretty good but you do need to be open to maybe trying some new things as there are many traditional dishes that are served.
- PIK YEE (8/5): - 服務員可能不夠. Check in時等了一段時間. 晚點見到清潔汽水機及夜晚在禮品店都是這位女職員. 但她非常友善！ 因我腳受傷，事前有電郵查詢是否酒店內有樓梯. 知悉會有幾級樓梯的. 亦沒有要求酒店會做什麼. 但他們實在太貼心，房間內安排高椅子. 原本應該到餐廳食晚餐及早餐都改做房間內食. 而且房間都是盡量接近電梯位置. 真係太貼心值得讚！其實酒店內有樓梯的位置都有斜道. 所以就算輪椅人士都可以的. 晚餐及早晨味道ok. 酒店看得出有些歷史的舊. 另外很喜愛足湯的位置. 而且有毛巾在旁邊！
- C K RONATE (10/5): 放鬆心情好住處 - 我們選是有私人溫泉的房間，空間很大，靠河邊很舒服，但發現酒店邊上有建設中的工地，不知會否影響，週末假期是不會影響，平日入住就要注意一下。 房間私湯很隱秘，在淋浴間邊上，真的很私人呢！ 一泊兩食，都是差不多，沒太大驚喜，也不失望的
- Luke (10/5): The most zen 24 spent in Japan. - This was a Japanese cultural dream. From the traditional meals to dressing in yukata everything was perfect. Even tho it may be out of the comfort zone of some westerners, I think everyone should stay at a ryokan. It’s truly the most zen experience! We even tried soaking in the onsite onsen. Try it! You won’t regret it!

- Andrea (6/5): - The hotel is beautiful. Maybe it was because we were in a smaller town with fewer English speakers, but the staff was less friendly here than at other places we stayed during our trip. There are also fewer "included" extras, which we found to be more common at other hotels. This was the priciest hotel we stayed at during our trip and I think I just expected a little more for what we spent. I did like the experience of staying in more traditional Japanese lodgings and the views are spectacular. Very close to a lot of fun shops and food. We did the set meal for dinner and breakfast and it was an interesting experience but not something I would go out of my way to do again next time I'm in Japan.
- Jennifer (4/5): - The property was very clean but was rather tired and worn considering the price. The room was rather musty smelling and the bathroom outdated and basic. I have a severe Shellfish Allergy which I notified the property of the day before arrival (as required). At check in I was assured they knew but at our included dinner there were multiple shellfish included in 2 courses. We checked out first thing in the morning and passed on the included breakfast. Needs improvement.

- Jing (2/5): - The stay is very bad. When we arrived at 7:45pm, we were told that we will not get our dinner because the dinner cut off time is 7 pm. When I made the reservation, there is nothing to advise us that the dinner cut off time is 7 pm. If we knew the cut off time is so close to our arrival time, I would not pay for the room and half board. At the check in, I was given a piece of instruction and it clearly stating that the dinner close at 9 pm. Nothing stated that dinner cut off time at 7 pm.
- TOKIE (8/5): - こちらは入り口が川のそばで山からの風やせせらぎがとても趣きがあります。さらに入り口のロビーが四季折々のようで和を感じられます。高い天井で、右手にウェルカムドリンクをゆっくり頂ける席があり（頂ける時間は決まってます）売店や足湯があります。 エレベーターを乗って部屋で荷解きをしたら、すぐに大浴場でくつろぐのがオススメです^_^女性は六階で広々とした優しい温泉で肌もしっとり、サウナで体の芯まで温まれて露天風呂の景色も最高でした。建物やグッズは歴史を感じますが、廊下も和を感じられ、温泉を満喫するにはぴったりです。 駅からも近く、湯河原を観光しやすいと思います♪( ´θ｀)ノ 駐車場の予約はしておいた方が良さそうです。

The hotel staff spoke enough English to be welcoming and helpful. We had the half board so a delicious traditional japanese dinner and breakfast were included. The highlight was having a private hot bath after dinner with sake i bought up the street at Lawsons.

- savorymom (10/5): Great location. Nice Ryokan experience. - We stayed two nights in this hotel. The location is Great- walking distance within the train/tram and bus stations. Restaurants, shops and convenient stores are closed by. And it’s right by the river too. Hotel’s indoor and outdoor onsen are in good sizes. You can enjoy the nature when soaking in the outdoor onsen. The room size is huge as it is a treat after staying in a tiny room in Shinjuku. The staff are very friendly and courteous. They tried their best to serve us and they even use Google translate to tell us information. Delicious breakfast and dinner with lots of food provided by the hotel. Highly recommended.

- sonofdragon (10/5): BEST RYOKAN FOR ITS ONSEN AND KAISEKI RYORI - We had the opportunity to stay in this beautiful ryokan on Dec 5-7, 2023. Our room is a Japanese-style tatami room with river view, which was calming/relaxing to see leaves moving and hear water running. Here we get to appreciate the traditional Japanese lifestyle and hospitality through its onsen and kaiseki ryori, an elaborated Japanese haute cuisine. Breakfast was also delightfully prepared in the same line of authentic Japanese artistic cuisine. However, I want to be honest here. The second kaiseki dinner/breakfast lost its charm/excitement not because it was bad food; it became an obligatory work for us to eat an array of food all served at once in the dining table. There was a feeling of rush that came upon us. Dipping in its huge onsen (温泉, hot spring) was one of the best "only-in-Japan" experiences we ever had. The ryokan location is perfect, just a stone throw away from Yumoto station. When night falls, there's really nothing much to do in the surrounding area. Certainly a perfect gateway to do your Tozan train-cable-ropeway-cruise-bus circuit tour of Hakone.

- luckycattle (6/5): Very outdated rooms - Stayed for 1 night at their Japanese style room with a private outdoor bath as a family of 3. Overall my experience was sub par. It did not match what we paid. We paid about $700 for 1 night, with dinner and breakfast included for 3. Check in: 4/5 there is no early check in available, not even if you offer to pay extra. They check you in right at 3pm on the dot. So try not to come too early like we did. Staff: 5/5 they were very kind and helpful especially the young lady that served our meals. While they don’t speak great English, they tried their very best to communicate everything. Meals: 5/5 It is traditional Japanese food and we expected this even with our toddler. Luckily, they switched out his breakfast with a child meal. If you have kids, try to ask for a child meal ahead of time. You can also order other items on their menu for them as well. The food overall was delicious and filling. We were so full at the end of it! The best part was that it was served in our room. Japanese style room: 1/5 I’m sorry but they really need to upkeep and clean the rooms better. Our a/c was barely working, our room was so hot. The vents are extremely dirty and dusty. There is a weird smell in the room. The bathroom where you shower/ clean seem to have mold all over the ceiling. Proper spray of vinegar can easily clean that. For Japanese standards, it felt grimy and unwelcoming. The overall hotel needs a deep clean and repair in many places. I will not be staying here again.

- cjc_ha (10/5): Relaxing natural beauty - highly recommend - Wonderful and unique experience. Beautiful Japanese-style room with a picture-perfect river view. Bedding was fluffy and comfortable, and wearing the yukatas and Japanese-style slippers was fun during the stay. Kaiseiki meals were works of art, and also delicious. The onsen was truly the stand out of this stay - stunning mountain views while soaking in the different hot tubs. Everything in the ryokan was sparkling clean. We only had one night, and wish we had been able to spend more time here!

Our room had space for six futon, and we enjoyed sleeping in traditional Japanese style. Breakfast and dinner were very traditional and tasty. The experience is genuine, and we enjoyed walking around with our yukatas. Very happy, we'll be back soon.

- Aimee (10/5): Great stay; a little dated - Pretty good location at the end of the Hakone-yumoto area. Check-in was quick and easy and the staff was very friendly. We have tattoos so the public onsen was a no-go but we got a room with a private onsen. The hotel is pretty but seems pretty dated. The room was nice but also dated. The onsen was gorgeous and relaxing minus some of the bugs and such. The sound of the rushing water from the river was relaxing and definitely made it easier to imagine being in a far off and isolated area. The dinner was great and had a variety of seasonal dishes. The provided sake was sweet and chilled. The ramen restaurant inside the hotel was also nice and had a very small restaurant feel. The staff there was friendly and accommodating. I love this area so I might stay here again
- sillybaby90 (8/5): Great ryokan experience! - Stayed in a ryokan style room and it is a really traditional room, with minimal modern elements (maybe just the TV and the toliet that a bit more modern style). We have both catered lunch and dinner so both were traditional Japanese meals with many side dishes. These meals were at fixed timing as well so you would have to decide it the moment you checked in. Receptionist speak minimal English and they basically asked for these information through a paper where you can circle your options. Even though they speak minimal English, they are approachable and always ready to help. The locals mainly stayed in this hotel so don't be surprised to be the only foreigners in the hotel haha Great place to experience the ryokan style type of accommodation, the view outside the hotel is great too!

- Manchur1an (10/5): Japanese culture well preserved and impeccably presented - If you want to experience traditional Japanese culture with 21st century comforts Hotel Kajikaso is the place for you. Conveniently located at a 5 minute from the Hakone Yumoto station, the structure is a regular modern building, but the interiors are plush with beautiful ikebana arrangements in every corner. The rooms are spacious and sparsely designed in the elegant Japanese design aesthetic. The staff didn't speak much english but were very intuitive and helpful. Each meal was visual and culinary delight. Remember to take your phone to breakfast / dinner for some Insta ready meals! The onsen is huge and open till late in the night. The area around the property is pretty too with a stream and a bridge over it. We were lucky to see a full lunar eclipse in this beautiful surrounding. One odd thing though: In the onsen, there was a lady attendant in the men's changing room. Felt odd to strip bare and come out butt naked from the onsen in an elderly woman's presence. May be I'm just a prudish Indian :)

- acylai (2/5): Totally Disappointed - This is the second time I stay at this hotel, I chose the “River View Room with Private Hot Spring”. The ultimate disappointment is that the hot spring is not “hot”! Well, how can it called “hot spring”, and why do I have to pay for it when the key purpose is to enjoy hot spring? We told the staff and they assigned a staff to check it, however they cannot resolve the problem within a reasonable time, this happens on both days of our stay. Finally, when checking out I complain to the front desk staff, their response is totally unacceptable. Their excuse is because of the cold weather making the hot spring not hot enough, what are they talking about? Is this the coldest place on Earth? This is the lowest level of excuse I have ever heard, the staff didn’t accept the problem and didn’t do anything to let us feel comfortable, and didn’t do anything to show that they are sorry for the problem. We didn’t ask for anything because their response shows that they don’t feel bad. I do experience issues/problems in other hotels in Japan, but I can assure that this hotel gave us the worst experience I’ve ever had.

The hotel is tired and needs a some maintenance The coatings on the floors and furniture has worn off. The carpet pieces in our room were tread bare. The meals were very well presented. Having said all that the hotel was full of Japanese. All 13 private dining rooms were being used.
- _carreenpakrasi (10/5): Very traditional and authentic experience. - A perfect Japanese experience, this traditional Ryokan is situated next to the river and is walking distance from the train station. The baths are as hot as you want them to be and as private as you choose. Some rooms on the upper floor, have an in suite bath. The ladies traditional public bath is outdoors and one can soak up the salts and heat in under the stars. The Typical Japanese meals are expertly served on floor level dining places by dainty Japanese women. The rooms are spacious and the beds are laid out on the floor on the tatami. It is serene and other worldly helping shed the layers of global notions off and facilitating a complete and relaxing experience. It is a wonderful stay before you continue on your journey.

You will have access to all the restaurants, souvenir shops, convenient stores and you name it. The property also provides everything you would need. Their Onsen is my fav. Soak indoor or outdoor, shared Onsen or personal tub. Simply loving it! Would definitely return when I next visit Hakone.
- 666kimberlyh (4/5): Misleading accommodations - Was really looking forward to have a Japanese onsen experience. I choose this hotel due to its proximity to the train station and the fact that they have private onsens in room. It’s located about a 5 minute from the hakone Yumoto station which is pretty convenient when most of the hotels are sprawled throughout requiring either a cable car or Ropeway to reach them. We checked in at 5pm which is before their mandatory 6pm in order to be served dinner for that night. The check in staff spoke very little English and just asked us when we wanted our breakfast and dinner. He circled the times for us and stated that they would be in the first floor restaurant. We had inquired about having meals served in our room and he just continued to shake his head. On their website it stated that “for guests staying with 2 or 3 people, we bring meals to your room”. When we reached our room the doors were completely wide open. They only had a set of keys so when we departed or wanted housekeeping then we had to return them back to the front desk. None of the staff gave an explanation about the room or gave us a tour about the hotel which was given in some TripAdvisor reviews. We were upset and tried to speak to a different front desk employee to see why they did not accommodate what was offered. We had to use google translate to converse and although polite was not helpful. She stated that she would find out tomorrow and let us know before we left for the next day. She did neither and we were met with another front desk group that continued to say no. On the third floor every room was being served their breakfast and dinner in room. It just didn’t make sense why it could not be accommodated. Moreover, I emailed the hotel directly for an explanation and they did not reply. The rooms were large compared to typical Japanese hotels. We opted for the Japanese style room which meant sleeping on the floor. They made our beds during dinner and put them away during room service. The beds were very comfortable. They provided a bunch of face products, slippers, Japanese styles robes, combs, shavers, toothbrushes, and shampoo/conditioner. The water pressure for the showers weren’t that great but the private onsen was lovely. It was scalding hot during the day but cooled down a bit at night. The meals provided were breakfast and dinner. Both were served kaiseki style which was a ton of mini plates with different foods. Everyday we had a different meal. They don’t offer water so if you want then you must ask. I must say that the food was some of the best I’ve had in japan. They served fresh sushi, miso cod, lobster, crab, steak, and a ton of veggies. Each serving was very large and kept us full for a while. For the hotel : please hire more English speaking staff and adjust your website if you do not offer in room dining to your hotel guests.
