• Pavla (9/5): - Velice příjemný personál, ochotný vyhovět vašim požadavkům. Slavila jsem zde kulatiny s přáteli a vše, včetně pohoštění v restauraci, bylo super! Byla jsem zde již podruhé, během 1.pobytu jsme měli pokoj v 1.patře, a byl rozhodně lepší. Především teď, v pokoji ve 2.patře, jsou šikmé stropy, a to i v koupelně nad vanou, takže sprchovat se musíte v předklonu. Rozhodně není vhodné pro starší osoby.

• Rudolf (8/5): Bis auf ein paar Kleinigkeiten ein super Hotel. Wer in einen Schloss wohnen möchte zum Empfehlen. - Frühstück ist sehr gut. Auswahl für frisch zubereitet. Sehr schönen Wellnessbereich. Super Schlossambiente. Bei Ankunft Nebel, nur 30m Sicht Parkplätze sind sehr schwer zu finden. Keine guten Wegweiser im großen Schlossgartenbereich. Auch keine ausreichende Außenbeleuchtung. Wasserkocher auf Zimmer mit Instantkaffee wäre schon sehr gut.

Veľmi pútavo a zaujímavo sa nám snažila v krátkom čase , ktorý sme mali 2,5 hod :-)) podať . Celý koncept prehliadky podľa jednotlivých storočí , nás veľmi nadchlo. Chválim aj kuchyňu a obsluhu, určite doporučujeme navštíviť Chateau Zbiroh. ťažko povedať , že nepáčilo, chápeme , že je veľmi nákladne udržiavať tak veľký komplex, angl. záhrady trávnik nádhera, ale skalky pri hrade trošku zanedbané.

• Meredith (10/5): Lovely character property, glad we stayed - We almost didn’t stay here as some reviews were a bit negative but we’re so glad we did. From the outset the staff were lovely and allowed us an early check-in. The room was characterful and huge & the bathroom was beautifully renovated and the big bath was nice to relax in. The bed was full really comfortable. We enjoyed walking around the beautifully manicured gardens and my husband did the castle tour which he found really interesting. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant and found the prices reasonable, comparable to Pilsen & Prague. The breakfast was also very good, plenty to choose from on the buffet. Easy 45 minute drive to the airport, we were really happy we’d chosen to stay here for a last night in Europe, away from the crowds and somewhere peaceful and welcoming. We would have liked to use the spa but found it a little expensive as an add-on for an hour but it looks lovely and understand you have exclusive use. If ur budget wasn’t running dry from our travels we would have definitely tried it.

• Ingrid (8/5): I enjoyed it and would come again, but now I know all to expect and would be better prepared. - I liked that the staff were exceptional and nice, and the rooms were what to be expected because it is a very old chateau, so things will be dated: ,meaning more like the building and hallways etc, not dated as in not taken care of. I like that the garden area was so beautiful and you could walk around the entire castle grounds and garden area. I like that we took the tour of the chateau, and we actually came there because we are following the Mucha Trail, but the hallway where he painted it was shown on the tour. The staff gave us some behind the scenes to see Mucha stuff that we really enjoyed- they went out of their way to make it worthour while- the only things I didn't like so much has absolutely nothing to do with the staff or the cleanliness of the hotel. They were AMAZING! The wifi kind of sucks. It only works in the restaurant pretty much and it is off and on there. (I guess because the place is so remote.) I did not like not having a kettle in the room, and if you want a coffee you have to go to reception and pay 40 korun. Water in the room is 55 korum for a liter. There is a fridge mini bar- with only room for the mini bar stuff- so dont bring anything you need refridgerated. Outlets are plenty, but I always travel with a small extension cord to plug in all my devices. I did not think the breakfast that was included in the room price was worth 17 Euros, but it was included in the price so that was okay I guess. No vegetarian options for breakfast except scrambled eggs and sliced tomatoes and bellpepper. Mostly it was bacon, sausages, and breads. There is only two options for vegetarian in the restaurant: fish or the gnocci. And you cannot alter the meals like take this off or take that off, you still pay full price. The meals are kind of expensive- like I pay that in NYC in a $600 per night hotel. Seriously. If you are taking a train there and not driving- know that there is absolutely nowhere else to eat except the hotel restaurant. If you are driving there- you can go down the hill into the city somewhere- but the city is very small - the square is just a corner in a residential neigborhood- not really a square. We are glad we brang a lunchbox stuffed with snacks and stuff to eat in our room - if you don't have a car, bring a lunchbox stuffed with snacks, unless you want to spend a lot of money. LOL

• Eugen (4/5): Disappointing - I was looking forward to a relaxing night in a proper double bed – instead, I got two single beds placed next to each other, but with frames that kept them awkwardly far apart. So i slept on one bed. Sleep? Not really an option, since the beds squeaked loudly with every movement – enough to wake me up every time I turned over. The bed frame felt completely worn out, as if it had seen one too many guests. Hot water? almost cold water! Showering turned into a gym session: a bathtub instead of a shower, no holder for the shower head, and a hose so short you had to bend over just to wash your hair. All of this might be tolerable at a bargain price – but at this rate, you’d expect at least the basics to be in place. A major letdown.

• AYUMI (8/5): - 念願のお城に泊まれて嬉しかった。 ベッドルームとバスルームが同じくらいの大きさでびっくり。 天井がたかくてお城を感じられた。 古いのでドアの開閉音は大きめ。 TVはつけ方がよくわからなかった。 周りが軽いハイキングコースになっていて朝散歩した。 朝食が豊富でよい。 温菜はしっかり温められていた。 フレーバーティーが豊富でよかった。 ガイドツアーはチェコ語しかなく、英語のオーディオガイドやテキストを借りたが、ガイドツアーでしか入らない場所に入れたのでとてもよかった。 wifiも使用できて良い。 1泊分の荷物だけ持って、プラハから電車とバスと徒歩で来た。山？丘？を歩いて登った先にあるので、プラハに荷物を置いてきて正解だった。

• Travelers (10/5): Charming / Bicycle parking - Friendly staff, charming, cozy room. Double sinks in the bathroom, only a deep tub with handheld shower option. Extremely clean. Dinner was good as was breakfast. Fantastic view from the top of the mountain, it’s on a hill. We were traveling by bicycle and there was secure parking in the courtyard ( bring your own lock). We enjoyed our stay and would return.
• Irina (7/5): A movie set type, medieval themed experience at the former spy academy. - It is a historic castle indeed. The park and surroundings are breathtaking. Staff makes all its best efforts to make you feel welcomed and comfortable. The rooms are a bit outdated and worn out. This doesn’t apply to the medieval replica designs, but to the state of flooring and bathroom equipment. Also, though the hotel markets itself as accommodation with spa, in fact the spa comes as an additional package of a sauna, bubble bath and swimming pool, provided at an extra cost.

• Susan (9/5): Cozy chateau perfect for a relaxing or active weekend getaway - The room was surprisingly cozy given its location in a large chateau. Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the location and views are truly unique. Breakfast in the castle tavern was tasty and had nice variety. We didn't try the spa facilities, but they were available with advance notice, and the organized tour of the chateau was informative. Lots of cycling and hiking options nearby.

• Simon (8/5): Stunning historical building, setting and wellness, unfortunately let down by average food and wine. - The building and surroundings are simply stunning, the interior and rooms are tastefully decorated to match the Chateau. The pool and wellness area were also amazing and that alone would have made the stay worth it. The staff were very friendly. Considering Chateau Zbiroh is a 5 star hotel we expected the food in the restaurant to match the surroundings, however unfortunately this was not to be. Don't get me wrong there was nothing wrong with the food, it was perfectly edible, tasty and reasonably priced, but both the food and wine were just average. The sort of food you might expect from a tourist pub but not worthy of a Chateau. We had much better food in a small cheap restaurant at the side of the road in Stříbrná Skalice. We also had infinitely better food in a small reasonably priced restaurant behind our hotel in Prague and unfortunately the food in Chateau Zbiroh paled into comparison. This is a real shame because if the food had been considerably better it would have made our stay exceptional. instead it was only good.

• Josie (4/5): - There wasen’t any hot water when we arrived in the evening. The staff told us it was because they were fully booked and the hot water has been used. We have never experienced this before at any place and the spa that we had also smelled really bad when we tried to use it. They didn’t compensate in any way. Can’t recomend the place, are not comming back.

Personeel zeer vriendelijk. Elke dag huishoudservice. Prachtige omgeving, half uurtje van Praag, wat zekee een bezoek waard is. Wij hebben een super fijn verblijf gehad!

• Alex (6/5): Definitely not 5 star.... - I don't know which standards rated this as a 5* hotel. Everything costs extra - even using the pool was €20 per person for an hour. Beds weren't very big and me being tall, I had to crouch together. No air con, so room didn't have great climate. Room was pretty worn down and had a tiny TV. There were some holes in the curtains (probably from people smoking) that was patched together. Breakfast was terrible - soggy eggs at a 5* hotel? And super dry bread... Also, there was a cat in the restaurant which seemed to live there and people would feed.. Not great hygiene..... Hotel restaurant at night, was great food and bathroom looked amazing - not practical to shower though, as there was only a tub and no shower curtain, so everything got wet. I planned this as a surprise on a roadtrip for my mom and it sounded great on paper.. Also - watch your side mirrors if parking here.. That gate has definitely killed a lot of those!

• Klaus (4/5): Schwimmbad und Sauna fehlt - Das Hotel wirbt mit Schwimmbad und Sauna. Diese wäre vorab zu reservieren und separat zu zahlen. Hierfür fehlte jeglicher Hinweis - ich war enttäuscht. Auch wenn das Hotel und Service sonst gut war.

We have been touring old castles in the Czech Republic and it was a privilege to stay in this beautifully restored place. The price was quite reasonable as well and the restaurant very good. The picture is the view from our room.
