Guest Reviews
- Jacqui (10/5): Fab place, fab location, fab owners! - The breakfast was so good - good quality sausages, bacon, Greek yogurt etc.
The room was really beautifully decorated, so quiet, and with separate access to the garden direct from the room.
The whole property itself was stunning - a converted barn with a great history.
The owners were so friendly, and went above & beyond to make sure we had everything we needed.
The room was very well stocked with kettle, Espresso machine, & fridge with milk & water.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it! Honestly? Nothing!
- Garry (10/5): Perfect - gorgeous location, wonderful breakfasts and a welcoming host! - Everything - Jane is the perfect host for whom nothing is too much trouble. She helped us also with information about the local area. Nothing.
- Kathryn (10/5): Lovely BnB for a weekend getaway - Spacious room, pretty gardens, great breakfast, lovely hosts. This is definitely rural, but there was more road noise than we would have liked.
- Estela (10/5): Friendly welcome, lovely relaxed weekend - unreserved 100% recommendation! - The hosts were welcoming and very friendly! Gave some good advice on where to eat locally. Said we could bring back food if we preferred, which is unusual and would be much appreciated by some. Nothing! The setting was perfect, it was easy to find and very comfortable.
- Lesley (10/5): Very friendly, excellent breakfast, a nice stay while at a local wedding - Lovely big room, very comfortable
- SANDRA (9/5): Have stayed twice and would stay again if in area - Breakfast 10/10. Bed 10/10. Hosts 10/10. House is lovely, lots books game interesting things in house. Heating timer not on early enough in morning. Stone floors by bed. Over the bath shower and bit difficult to get in and out.

- cory (10/5): Calm, relaxed, easy....perfect!! - Absolutely loved how relaxing and quite it was. Our every need was accommodated and breakfast was served at whatever time suited us.
My partner has a gluten intolerance and they home cooked a breakfast to suit her. Honestly one of the best breakfasts we've ever had!!
An amazing couple who go out of their way to make the stay as relaxed and easy as possible.
Will definitely return to stay again. It was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Had no negative thoughts at all. Honestly could not fault this place and the owners! Amazing, friendly, caring people!!
- Catherine (10/5): Room was beautiful, warm and comfy.sherry and lollies available. Shower nice and hot - They accommodated me at very late notice. Hostess Jane was very welcoming. Arrived in dark so was a bit hard to find. Had to open gate that didn’t have instructions on it.
- Sarvanjan (6/5): Host very kindly stayed up late for us. Beautiful place. Sherry and chocolate - nice touch. - Good breakfast; bacon a bit dry; loved the fresh fruit
- Michael (10/5): - It was a really comfortable stay. Once we got the room warm it was like a sanctuary from the awful damp drizzly weather outside.
- Gillian (10/5): Home from home - The room was spacious and very comfortable. A lovely breakfast ws included. The hosts were friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we had an enjoyable stay. Nothing

We come back next year!!
- Plummer (9/5): Would recommend without hesitation. Thanks to a great host - Excellent host! Excellent bacon sandwich for breakfast, excellent coffee, lovely location and house in the countryside. Anything we requested we received without question.
Much nicer than a chain hotel.
- alan (9/5): Terrific b and b experience with great food - Excellent breakfast cooked to order by friendly host. Very quiet rural location with few added touches.
- Jeremy (10/5): A lovely family home with excellent hosts and amazing countryside views from our room. - The location was perfect as we were doing a long walk on the Downs Link route, which is very close to the accommodation. The facilities were perfect for our needs and the hosts were very welcoming. There were no problems.
- david (9/5): Quiet relaxing homely good standards - Relaxed friendly nice homely touches Nothing all very nice

- Abigail (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): We had a fabulous stay - The room was fabulous, the gardens and swimming pool were a lovely extra to have, and the breakfast choices were plentiful. No improvements needed at all
- Tim (10/5): One of the nicest b&b's I have ever used. - Welcoming host, large & comfortable room, excellent breakfast.
- Joshua (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jill (4/5): - Poor value for £145 a night. On arrival we were informed that the heating to our room had been turned off 'but it will warm up'. it was so cold I requested a portable heater be put in the room, this was eventually brought, but due to most of the room being open stone flooring we were cold for some time. Standard of decor was uninviting and breakfast very average. We would not recommend this place. It's an £80 a night B&B at best.
- Valerie (8/5): Magpie Lodge - Peace and the garden
- Lymer (10/5): Completely relaxing stay - Breakfast super cooked well
- Teresa (9/5): Brilliant Stay - My husband and I had an enjoyable stay at Magpies Lodge. The hosts were lovely. Accommodation was clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was really tasty. None
- Sandra (9/5): An excellent B&B, would certainly stay there again. - Fabulous breakfasts. The hosts were very helpful and friendly throughout our stay. Spacious room, nicely decorated and had everything that you needed there and more. We live in warmer climes, and found the room and bathroom a little chilly at times. That is probably just us!
- Rosemary (10/5): An excellent B&B and will be our venue of choice if in the area again. - Very welcoming hosts. A large room with good facilities - a lovely touch with a small decanter of sherry. A very comfortable bed - the best we have stayed in for a long while (apart from our own bed!). An outstanding breakfast - a lovely selection including real freshly prepared fresh fruit, good coffee and an excellent full English breakfast. We will return! Nothing.
- Nancy (9/5): Perfect for my business trip - The bedroom was adjacent to the host's living room and I could hear the TV quite late
- Joel (10/5): - Beautiful English Countryside stay...
- Kevin (10/5): Very Warm Welcome - The room was incredible and the greeting by one of the owners was really loved. Made me feel very welcome.
- Frances (10/5): Exceptional - A warm welcome with great hospitality. Our room was very spacious, clean and comfortable with a lovely comfy bed, en-suite shower room, fridge and tea/coffee making facilities, with little extra touches, like biscuits and hot chocolate and a glass of sherry. All very much appreciated. Breakfast was excellent and we enjoyed chatting and meeting our hosts and their lovely dog too. Thank you, we had a wonderful stay.
- Paula (10/5): - They were such friendly and excellent hosts! Fidget, the dog, was a wonderful breakfast companion. I can't recommend them highly enough.
- Margareta (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kate (9/5): A delightful oasis - Lovely spacious room with a comfortable bed, fairly powerful shower, pleasant seating area, reliable Wi-Fi and access to a beautiful garden and a swimming pool. The room had its own outside access, so I didn't worry about disturbing people when getting back late. It's a very peaceful, rural location, being a converted barn around which the house has been built, looking out over fields. There are pleasant extra touches such as complimentary sherry and sweets in the rooms and a visitors' "lounge" with comfortable chairs and board games. Breakfast was excellent - I particularly enjoyed the homegrown figs with yoghurt. Jane and Kevin were attentive hosts, as indeed was Fidget, their springer spaniel. On first arrival, the closed gate can be confusing. When I arrived there was an event at the neighbouring hotel and it appeared that all the parking spaces were gone - there is ample parking through the gate, in front of Magpies, but you don'tknow if you don't know. I stayed in Hambleden, which is a lovely room. Technically, it is on the ground floor, as is access to the main house where breakfast is served, but to reach it, you have to go up some steps, not a problem for me but might be for someone with mobility issues
- Abigail (10/5): A wonderful find! - Its just an exquisite place. The room was cosy and comfy. The linen was exceptionally clean and fresh. I slept so well. The breakfast cooked to order in a very homely way. Jane dashed out to her garden to cut fresh sprigs of chives for my omelette. its just that small attention to detail I loved. Jane is a welcoming and kind host. I would highly recommend it. there was not anything not to like.
- Paul (10/5): - Lovely room - service and attention to detail fantastic - very helpful
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Lots of fruit, cereals, couldn’t fault it.
- Jeff (10/5): Perfect stay - Lovely relaxing stay in this character location with hospitable owners. Can’t fault our stay and will come again in future.
- Paula (8/5): A warm welcome and a delicious breakfast - We were given a warm welcome by our host. Very nice spacious room with a lovely outlook over the garden. Our bed was very comfortable and the location peaceful. Excellent breakfast, fruit, cereal and yogurt followed by piping hot and delicious cooked breakfast.
I swam twice in the heated pool which was an added bonus!
We appreciated the sherry and bowl of sweets and would definitely book The Magpies again.
Thank you 😊 The only slight negative was the electric shower which was not very powerful and it was also difficult to regulate the temperature.
- Antonino (10/5): Exceptional -
- Penny (10/5): - Such a relaxing place to stay. Room overlooked garden and was so cosy with comfy sofa and bed. 2 glasses and small decanter of sherry was awaiting us on arriving along with bowl of sweeties. Lovely touch. Tea coffee making facilities with milk and water in fridge. Powerful shower in the en-suite. Breakfast next morning was plentiful and delicious
- Mick (10/5): Lovely home, lovely location, lovely host! - Very unusual and attractive property in a pretty rural location X
- Judy (10/5): Very welcoming short break - Lovely hosts who had thought of every conceivable extra. Tea, coffee, milk, chocs and sherry were left in the comfortable room. Breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. Enjoyed using the heated outdoor swimming pool. A very enjoyable stay, thank you. Nothing
- John (10/5): Perfect - All was great. Nothing

- Lydia (8/5): Very good -
- Harry (9/5): Very nice place to stay and the owners were very friendly and helpful. - First class breakfast and quiet area and easily accessible to main roads. N/A
- Virginia (8/5): Very enjoyable -
- Kim (9/5): Very enjoyable stay, thank you. We would come back next year. - All good thanks, with arrangements made to help us with a very early start, with a light continental breakfast. All good, no issues whatsoever.

- Jackie (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely property and host
- Aju (10/5): Fab accommodation to explore south downs - Magpies is a homely accommodation to explore South Downs. Me and my wife had a lovely stay over the may bank holiday weekend. Jane’s hospitality was fantastic during our stay. Would love to stay again when travelling to west sussex area.
- Russell (9/5): Super comfy bed and lovely sheets , so much so didn’t want to get up for the marvellous breakfast that was served. Hosts - Big airy room and all facilities modern and clean. Nothing
- Cheryl (9/5): The host was really helpful and friendly. The children enjoyed their stay. - My children stayed at Magpies but didn't stay for breakfast as we had to leave early. I gave the comfort rating because my 6 foot 4 inch 15 year old son was hanging over the edge of the sofa bed, but this is clearly not something that most people will have an issue with :) Overall it was perfect for our needs and the children had a restful evening. Would definitely book it again.
- Amanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lenny (10/5): Simply excellent - Very positive impressions all the way round: comfortable room, friendly hosts, great breakfast.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Garry (10/5): Fabulous home from home and so welcoming after a busy day. - Everything: the owner is so welcoming and attentive to detail. There is literally everything you may need, including toothpaste, toothbrush and other things in case you have forgotten them - all brand new items, unopened. Breakfast is excellent, so much choice! Nothing.
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional - Top notch hosts, so welcoming and friendly! A lovely room with en suite and comfortable bed.
Excellent variety for breakfast, fresh fruit was delicious followed by a cooked breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble.
Would definitely stay again.
- Richard (10/5): Excellent value and a fabulous place - What a lovely place to stay, made very welcome and the breakfast was excellent.
Would highly recommend to anyone wanting to stay at a home from home

- Verified traveler (10/5): A lovely stay! - We stayed at Magpies as a base for attending a wedding. The room was excellent, very clean and comfortable, our hosts were very friendly and the breakfast delicious! Thank you.
- Richard (9/5): Best ever B & B - Fabulous full English breakfast, comfortable bed and spacious bedroom with sofa and chairs ,fridge ,coffee/tea making facilities, TV with Netflix, own entrance and friendly helpful proprietor. Though it is next door to an Event Hotel there was no noise, extremely quiet even though there was a party going on, which I knew about as I had enquired about having a meal at the hotel and was informed it was booked for a party. Red Lion pub in Slinfold well worth a visit as is Petworth House, and Horsham. Nothing,we have stayed in numerous B & Bs over the years and Magpies was the best .
- Helen (7/5): Good - Friendly welcome with suggestions of where to get an evening meal. Pleasant and comfortable room with plenty of space.
A delicious breakfast in the morning.
Gorgeous surroundings. It would be lovely to return in the spring/summer. I would have liked to have seen the hosts when I left. It was not obvious where I should park, so I had to tuck my car in near the bushes. It was dark when I arrived, which meant that I was walking in the dark.
- Roger (9/5): Superb -
- Simon (10/5): Exceptional - excellent stay somewhat difficult to find the accommodation from the road
- Bailey (8/5): Very good -
- Martin (9/5): Superb - I would highly recommend Magpies Lodge. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the room was excellent. Breakfast stunning! Will visit again next time we are in the area. _

Warm and welcoming hosts. Our room was spacious, comfortable and well presented. A well stocked tea tray and the decanter of sherry a lovely suprise.
The outdoor pool was very much appreciated and comfortably warm.
The breakfast was delicious and plentiful and probably one of the best we've had.
The property and gardens were beautiful.
