Guest Reviews
- Sandra M. (8/5): Confortable - Agradable atencion e instalaciones
- Alexander (10/5): -
- Bunn (8/5): Very good -
- Cyrus (1/5): I want a refund I felt very violated - Didn’t like they came in my room while I wasn’t there and cleaned it ! I didnt need my room cleaned !! My belongings were in there but I’ve never stayed at a hotel that goes in ur room when u not there ! They also came in my room and turned back on my a/c while I wasn’t there Invading my privacy when I’m not there
- Theodus (7/5): Good - Close to the interstate close to food area 91 dollars a night
- Sofia (2/5): - It was my first time to Nola and it was a last minute trip. I wanted to have fun without hurting my pockets, so I chose this. I started receiving bad reviews from the area the moment I got in the cab after landing. Drivers even told me that they go there at night. They were right. Parking is gated, you don’t get in contact with reception because it’s gated. My anxiety went from 0 to 100. 5 am I heard a woman screaming for help, saying please call 911 he took my phone. I had to check out before my time and pay double the price in French quarter. Nobody has ever reached out for my refund or anything.
- Steven (5/5): Passable -
- Ashley (9/5): Property was very safe and near everything you needed - Location Bed size
- Joel (5/5): Passable - Comfortable bed. The facility is fenced off Very dangerous neighborhood. Transit was a little hit and miss. The water is so hard that soap won't wash off your skin
- Ricky (9/5): I still enjoyed my trip - It was gated, and I thought it was good for security The location wasn’t really all that great
- Brian (10/5): - Great hotel - great staff !!
- Chuck (4/5): - Not nice, not convenient. We would never stay there again.
- Patrick (10/5): - It looks scary when you got to go Thur security gate but feel very safe. And the room was clean and very comfortable
- Patterson (2/5): needed a place to stay after going to the super bowl.but I won't book here again. - nothing dusty dirty room
- Vivona (10/5): Exceptional -
- Verified traveler (4/5): do not recommend - I arrived in the evening to check in and the person was not at the desk. I had to wait around until the manager showed up. My first room they offered me was not good. I discovered at 3am that the toilet did not work (would not refill with water). I tried calling the front desk and he kept saying he could not hear me (connection was bad) and hung up on me. I called with my cell phone and told him the issue. He comes in with a plunger instead and proceeds to use it (even though I told him that was not the problem). It didn't work. He looks in the toilet and could not get it to refill. He opens up the room next door to me and tells me I can use this bathroom and he will have my toilet fixed the next day while I am working. I was not about to have someone in my room all day with my stuff in it, so I transferred all my stuff at 3:30am to the room with the working toilet. Also, the original room seemed to be spewing moldy air from the air conditioner, as I woke up coughing at 3am. I did not have that problem in the new room I took over. They did change the sheets everyday, so that was nice but the floor and the sink always seemed to be dirty. I had to clean the sink myself before I would put any of my belongings on it.
- Susan (6/5): Short ride to all the action, clean and comfortable. - Staff is friendly, rooms were clean. It definitely could use some updating, a dresser would have been nice . Area is a bit sketchy, but the motel is gated. Its a bare bones room, one bar of soap and 2 well used towels.
- Mason (10/5): Exceptional -
- AMY D (10/5): - Staff was friendly and accommodating.
- Connolly (7/5): Good - The staff was super nice It was a Taylor Swift concer weekend, so prices are high
- Cheri (9/5): Great stay - very friendly and helpful. I liked the waffle house close Far from where we wanted but it was my fault for not seeing where cruise ship was. Taylor Swift weekend made it hard to do things but that was not the fault of the hotel. overall we liked it. Friends stayed in hotel next door and hated it
- Simmons (8/5): Very good - It was a decent room for the price, bed was comfortable. Owner was very nice. Lighting was terrible, we only had one towel and no washcloth. It wasn't a very welcoming room, but it was cheap and you get what you pay for.
- Stephen (8/5): Wou - It was very secure, quiet and clean, close to buses into town It was a wee bit away from town in a bit of a sleazy area but with a security gate it was safe.
- Alicia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Michael (2/5): I would avoid this place and pay extra for better place. - There was a gated fence. Parked right in front of room. Fresh Towels. Manager looked unprofessional. There was no Phone, Phone was missing buttons. Hookers were lurking around front. Water was not right for the soap. Water would not clean off soap, Felt greasy afterwards. Box springs had Weird stains on the side.
- Kreutzer (6/5): Nice enough but needs a few touch ups and repairs. I'd stay again. - Price. Convenience. Room was comfortable and clean. Ice machine works well. Accommodating as I reserved 3 rooms and they were together and on the ground floor as requested. Stayed in room 130. Very little hot water. Room needed lamps. Bathroom door handle is difficult to open from inside. Toilet paper wasn't hanging due to no holder.
- Lisa (4/5): - Will probably not visit there again.
- Bielstein (3/5): SUPER DIRTY - price, location, gated parking lot, didn't smell bad or like anything at all, sheets were clean lumping and sloping mattress. mattress topper was SUPER stained, looked like it hadn't been washed recently, and had blood on it. had to pick the cleaner side of the bed to sleep on. cigarette burns on mattress topper and pillow. box spring was held together with duct tape and looked like it came out of a dumpster. no towel rack or toilet paper holder in bathroom. bath vent fan was very full of dust. tub was quite rusty in too many spots, in need of resealing. doors and their handles were sticky. floor had all sorts of foot prints on it like it hadnt been mopped or someone with dirty shoes walked all over it after mopping.
Overall was expecting an old, simple clean room, but got old, falling. apart and mostly filthy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): 1 night stay - All I needed was a shower and a bed. I stayed for one night in my work truck. The compound is gated and cheaper than the surrounding hotels. The room was clean. Not many people there. Quiet and no one bothered me. Helped me when I was in a bind.
- Veronica (10/5): Exceptional -
- Shamanda (9/5): The cheapest hotel in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, what did I really expect? - The gate at the opening The room wasn’t clean, there were still towels hanging on the shower rod from the previous guest. There was hair and dirt in the tub and in 2 corners of the room
- James (2/5): - There was a used condom on my bedside table
- anthony (6/5): - The owner was nice. You get what you pay for.
- Motoyuki (7/5): Good -
- Keaira (10/5): Good Stay! - Hotel was nice. Hotel was in fair condition. Staff and service was good. OverAll stay was good I would recommend this hotel
- Journey774965 (8/5): Clean and quiet - Love the security at this hotel. No loitering of any kind acceptable. Great access to shopping, eateries. Great amenities, tv, internet, spacious bathroom, would stay here again. spacious parking, great for weekend getaway from city, or the way out of town
- Roy (8/5): Great stay - Fast trip to NOLA, the room was fine.
- Jazz (2/5): - The room and bathroom smelled horribly. The mattress had awful stains. The shower sprayed water everywhere. We were not provided with enough towels and rags.
- T (2/5): - The property was at the end of the road and was filled with people who looked like they were up to no goood. It was very sketchy and cost three times as much as it should have. When we opened the blind written on the inside was “c*m dump”. The bed was lumpy and looked liked it had gotten a lot of use in its lifetime. When speaking to some of the locals they were mortified that I stayed there. They it was a notorious sex motel and drug area. I was told to make sure I don’t bring home bed bugs, which were most likely there. Needless to say, I’m very disappointed and will most likely never use Expedia again. You would think your agents would look at the reviews and ratings when one orders a room via telephone. I never got the chance to look at any reviews but I can bet my last dollar that there are no good ones.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - This property it was sooooooo hard to find. They charge my credit card with out present it. I gave them other credit card tu charge and they will have to refund the transaction. They ask for a taxi that never came.
Room was Good. Vary resraurant and stores near.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice stay - Very clean. Nice stay. Great price. Will stay again.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Owner was very nice and professional. Gave us a room with a new bed, only thing is i wish the internet there was better.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was clean, the staff was friendly, and the checkin was fast
- RustCohle1 (4/5): trash - cheap because of the location several miles away from the quarter and anywhere of interest.
your average motel, cigarette holes in the bed sheets, black men hobbling around the parking lot suspiciously in the small hours.
Really weird indian guys who run the place who barely speak english, seem unimpressed and unenthused with their work and generally give off bad vibes.
if you just want a cheap place to crash its fine.
- Verified traveler (6/5): No frills, but ok - OK, this is a budget motel, don't expect 5 stars. That being said the room was clean -- in fact it was sterile; I think they just bleached the whole floor before we got there as the place smelled of disinfectant and Clorox. It was expensive for a motel, but that's New Orleans for you. Local area is sketchy, however parking was good.. Uber rides are pricey too. But, it served its purpose and on the whole was not bad. I've stayed in many places that were 10 times worse. Staff was friendly and offered up suggestions for dinning.
- Cruz (4/5): - The room was very dirty, the sheets were so nasty I had to run to Walmart and buy a set
- Tanequa (10/5): - It was great I enjoyed the room and the area is surrounded by stores, fast food and on the transit line
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Orbitz did not hve a room reserved for me but hotel made room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The clerk at the front desk was all too happy to take my money but then stated he didn’t have change so he got to keep what was supposed to have been given back. The room was FREEZING and I had no access to turn any heat on. I had to heat the room using the shower. The sheets weren’t stained but had plenty of dust and loose dirty on them. The sign mentioned cable tv, I got ONE channel and I wasn’t even able to control the volume. I was lucky to find an available room in a pinch but this motel needs some serious help.
- tenisha (2/5): - I didn’t stay here guys were outside with guns I had my small kids with me they didn’t want to refund me my money I canceled the room 9 minutes after I booked it.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Honestly, it looks sketchy but it’s really not bad on the inside. It was clean and the bed is really comfy.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The price was fair. They held my room for my late arrival.
No clothes iron.
Knocking on my door well before check-out time.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Average - I stayed here for Mardi Gras & it is the average motel. You get what you pay for. Overall service was very good and I can’t complain too much for it was a good place to sleep after a long day.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The non smoking room smelled of smoke and the smoke detector was missing.
- Robert (8/5): - Three days in New Orleans. Motel was adequate, deserving of 2 *. Intermittent Wi-Fi was a little troubling. Close to downtown French Quarters
- Tyesha (2/5): - The room had bed bugs in it and we left at 3:30 in the morning don't ever go there.
- Erin (8/5): Great for the price - This was a comfortable, clean, and quiet room. We had a mini fridge and microwave in the room. The location is close to UNO and within walking distance of public transit to the French Quarter. You will have to ask for extra towels, as we were only given 1 for 2 guests, and they were reluctant to give 2 keys for the room. The clerk did notice and tell me about a low tire on my car! For the price, it was nicer than anticipated, so you can save money for tours and restaurants.
- Good Enough (8/5): Found One - There was cancellation at the last minute in which I grabbed within 60 seconds. Hotel overall was a place to lay our heads and shower... Literally...... Thank you for the Hospitality!!!! :-)
- Leul (10/5): - The front desk when we checked they quickly it’s just taking longer
- MARIE (4/5): Just don't - We desperately needed a room, since we at the last moment decided to celebrate new years in New Orleans. Royal Inn could accommodate us so we had to take it. I honestly can't even sit here and write a review without laughing a bit. It was just so absurd. We got a "non-smoking" room which either had just been converted from a smoking room og previous guests just didn't care about labels. Everything smelled like nicotine, even the sheets (and our hair and PJ's when we woke up the next morning) and the smoke detector was covered with a plastic bag - very safe.
The bathroom was very dirty, instead of a bath mat they had just placed a piece of paper on the floor, because who needs anything else.
The neighbourhood was less than charming - the guy in front of us in the check in line just needed an "hourly room". I think that gives the idea.
Can't say anything bad about the service though - they were welcoming, had a smile on their face and let us check out late.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Next to an abandoned building in the ghetto - Shady characters roaming around property. Located next to an abandoned crumbling high rise in the ghetto. If I didn't know better I would have thought this was a "by the hour" motel where you take a hooker.
- JWOPBABY (4/5): Ugh - Cheap room but being that i paid the exact amount at a different place and got way better this was a rip off. Room had broken cabinets, the door chain piece to put the door chain was missing, the bed was soooooo hard me and my friend woke up in excruciating pain! And we felt unsfae from the surroundings. We chose this place because it wasnt far from the french quarters but omg. We shouldve looked further. I also wanted a smoking room and the clerk said it was all non smoking yet when we got to our room it spelled like complete smoke! We left the door open for the 1st hour we were there! And the comforter had burn holes all over!
- royal in of new orleans (6/5): - typical hotel room.
- Renee (6/5): Not the worst hotel but not the best - The hotel was ok. I'm in NOLA a lot but never stayed here. The Wifi was spotty and the business center had no printer and their internet browser definitely had some kind of virus. They kept blaming it on "me not knowing what I was doing" and I found that rude. They could try to do some customer service training to avoid those types of things. They also still had a Christmas tree up, which every child that walked into the lobby pointed out. If it had been Mardi Gras themed nobody would've been bothered but it was odd. The bathroom in our room wasn't as clean as it should have been either and we had no iron. The phone to call down didn't really work (they couldn't hear me) so I just went out wrinkled. Not a bad stay but definitely not great.
- Verified traveler (6/5): It Served the Purpose - Had the last room within a few miles of Voodoo Fest 2016 at a decent rate. It was not the Ritz but we didn't expect it to be and had no complaints. It served our purpose.
- Jeffr22 (2/5): Royal Inn of New Orleans - Would rate it zero if that was an option. It stank of cigarette smoke, it was dirty, the whole place looked dodgy and we got minimal sleep as the air conditioner was so loud. The only positive is that the sheets were clean. If we hadn't arrived at 1.35 am, we would have moved straight on to somewhere else. As it was, we were out by 8 am never to return. AVOID!!!!
- Verified traveler (4/5): small inn of New Orleans. - small room no place to hang your dress clothes. parking area to compact no room to turn around vehicles around.
- reneehP4716WJ (8/5): Good place to crash - Hotel is near the Lakefront Arena, so a good choice if you're seeing an event there. Room was small but clean, had a fridge & microwave, ample free parking, and friendly staff. There's a bus line that will take you right down to the French Quarter near the hotel.
- RichardR937 (8/5): It's here use it - This was a clean, truly smoke free room. This never pretended to be something it was not just a very good room and a very good price. it was close to a bus line that takes you right down town.
Personally I was only there to sleep grab a shower and run which was just fine at here. The bed was good, it must have been because when I hit the sheets I slept, no noise or disturbance.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This is a motel I not can recomend. Bad service and even the toilet was loose from the floor.
I can not understand how they can charge this much for a room.
- 521staceyr (4/5): Good Stay - It doesn't look like much but it was a great place to lay your head. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The price is also decent. Would love to have a coffee pot in room . Would stay again for sure.
- Christian (10/5): Great value! - The staff at this hotel was really nice! My room was spacious and clean. Would use again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): ok hotel, bad pet odor. - The bathroom was clean
The bed was noce. The room smelled with bad pet odor. The floor was wet in spot by refrigerator and ruined some of my clothes I left there with bad pet odor.
- 300mt (6/5): Don't Judge a Book by its Cover - I stayed here last minute for two nights with a friend for Independence Day. Its only 15 minutes drive from the French Quarter. The room was very clean- I made a request when booking to ensure its cleanliness due to my allergies and they certainly complied. When I checked in, the manager, Tommy, told me he lit a candle to help. I'm not sure how a candle would help with allergies, but it was sure smelled nice! And it showed they actually paid attention and cared about my comfort. The bathroom was pretty spotless, but was lacking in some stuff. There were no towel racks, so if I wanted to reuse a towel there really wasn't any place to put it. No handsoap, which wasn't a big deal because the typical body bar and shampoo were provided. Tip for parking in the French Quarter: the parking plaza at the convention center charges $40 for covered parking and $30 for rooftop. Its easy to walk to the Quarter, and easy to find your way back in the dark with all the neon lights for the hotels and casino guiding your way.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good - The front desk managers were very accommodating and helped us get a taxi to the port for a cruise. The room could use updating and had a stale smell. There was no shampoo provided, which was odd. For a one night (cheap in NO) stay, it was just fine.
- John (2/5): Stench of Cigarettes - We booked a non-smoking room and (being non-smokers) were more than happy to know that all smoking was banned. Then we got to the room. It reeked of cigarette stink. The excuse given was that "other guests in the past" must have smoked in the room. Insufficient. They sprayed some air freshner (it stunk as well) and lit a candle. No offer of refund, no discount, nothing else offered. Each day we came back after being out for the day the stink was back. I noted this deliberately to the manager. Again, no discount offered. Combining this with the bad neighborhood and generally poor condition of the place... it is best avoided. We will NOT be back.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Very affordable - I enjoyed the stay and the place was actually nice for the price. The only real issue I had was when I saw a roach crawling in the room .
- Chillette (10/5): They Rock!$ - The stay was GREAT!! The employees was nice and friendly, they cleaned the room both days and also had a driver(Best Driver ever) very sweet and made sure he drove safe, that took us to and from our location which helped save a lot of time. Not to forget the location of the hotel is right by every store and food place you can think of and the BEST PART IT'S ONLY 5 miles from French Quarters and Bourbon St, We would definitely be going back!!!
- ramsey (2/5): OK at best. - not very clean, gross bathroom and toilet. nice staff but pretty much made a big deal and yelled when we were a little late checking out.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Pictures are deceiving - The pictures are very deceiving. The hotel room smelled like smoke, there were cigarette burns in the seats. The bed was very uncomfortable. The hotel staff was ok. They did let us check in a couple hours early. This hotel is in a shady part of town.
- Kevan (8/5): Nicely run motel. Much better than the Econo Lodge - Received by nice staff members and given a very clean room with our car outside the door. Very convenient and felt much more secure than the Econo Lodge we stayed in the night before. Much cleaner as well.
- darbyc2013 (10/5): Loved this Hotel!! - My husband and I stayed here during a long weekend visit to New Orleans in December 2014. The staff was super helpful! (THANKS ADAM AND LARA!!) We loved the room, it was nice and big, cool living room and bedroom areas, and nice bathroom. We felt like we were staying in a cool apartment and were locals! The location was amazing also, close to the good music on Frenchman Street and walking distance to the craziness of Bourbon Street. The R Bar downstairs was a great place to have a drink before starting the evening and for a nightcap (I believe its open until 4 or 5am). We did not have any problems with bar or street noise at all. Would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to feel like you're a NOLA local.
- Tee (2/5): Horrible Motel!!!!!!! - When we pulled up, the door to the room was propped open. Why would the door be left open? We found out very quickly why this was the case. It was done intentionally to air out the thick smoke/sewer smell that was overwhelming inside the room. I did not see any bugs inside the room, although I am fairly certain they scatter when the lights come on. This was the only motel/hotel available when we were in New Orleans, New Years, so we didn't have much of a choice. I would not recommend this motel to my worst enemy!!!!
- 240candicec (10/5): Great place! - This is our second visit. The place is a fabulous mix of old New Orleans and modern hip. Love the place and the owners are great! The R bar is downstairs and it's located right between the Quarter and Frenchmen's St. Ideal.
- MarvaWright (8/5): Unplanned Stay - My family and I ended up here due to poor planning on our vacation. Under normal circumstances I would never stay in a motel but would consider staying in this one again if necessary. We ended up at the Royal Inn because we were going to check in to the hotel next door but the staff was rude and wouldn't let us look at a room before paying to stay there.
We were all a bit uncomfortable staying there based on the outer appearance but decided to ask if we could see a room anyway. The attendant was very pleasant and gave me the key to look at a room. My initial reaction to the room was horrible because of the smell of old cigarette smoke so I returned the key and told him that we were gonna go someplace else. He then gave me a key to a non-smoking room that I could actually look at because I could breath freely. The non-smoking room was ok and the attendant offered to put some sort of airing system that they use for their smoking rooms in our room while we were out to neutralize the room even more. The furniture was old like something grandma would have at home but still clean. The bathroom was 100% new and clean which meant a great deal to me. The cleanliness of the room was the tipping point for my sister and I.
The entire staff was nice and helpful whenever we called or walked down to the office. Based on our interactions with the staff and their kindness, I would recommend this motel to people traveling in the area who only needed a place to sleep for the night. Good things don't always come in expensive packages.
- TierraH14 (2/5): Horrible - When I arrived, the outside looked normal. So I booked a room and received the key, when I opened the room, the nasty smell hit me dead on my face. So I turned ln the lights and the room looked alright but as I started to check around the room it was not cleaned. I check the comforters and the smelled and had cigarette normal on them. As I continue on, the sheets was not washed or the beds was not made-up right. I checked the bathroom and the sink alone with the toilet which was very filthy. The floor along the back wall was very wet. To make my stay a little better (just a little), I went bought some Lysol and Clorox Bleach so I can spray, clean and disinfect everything that I had to touch. NEVER AGAIN WILL I RENT A ROOM FROM HERE!
- 257nicoleb (6/5): Clean Sleep Over - I didn't know what to expect when I booked this motel, even when I pulled up the appearance wasn't at it's best. However, when I arrived the receptionist at checkout was very pleasant and offered me to see the room before staying. To my surprise it was very clean, (which is one of my biggest concerns), the bathroom was renovated except the toilet seat, micro, fridge, nice tv, plenty of sockets, plenty of stores in area. Overall, if you're looking for a clean place to rest your head this place is fine. I was there for Essence Music Fest and had to get a last min stay, so this worked out fine. 10mins from the French quarters $17 cab. BUT coming back the cab charge $10 per person because it was a perfect opportunity to take advantage. Bus route is very close.
- Melvinsmith (6/5): Great Sleep Over - A clean, quiet, and comfortable place to sleep overnight. There were Fast foods close by, supermarkets also small frig. & microwave in room, bus routes, and good when budgeting. the television worked great and there was WiFi and cable. There were enough sockets around the room and the lighting was good.
- CottonZ (8/5): Recommended budget choice - Good soundproofing compared with some other motels of the type. Good size room and bathroom, superb free room wifi - possibly the best of any of 20 hotel stays recently. Large tv range of channels, plus power sockets at bedside. Small fridge & microwave. Fast food, supermarket & other shops, and (several) bus routes nearby. Safe - parking courtyard outside room door brightly lit at night, with vending machines & ice. Mr Patel, the manager, ejected some seriously riotous partying guests in the next room, so that everyone could get some sleep - well done, sir! Smoking rooms available. Bad points: nowhere to hang clothes. Rooms are large enough to easily fit a small cheap wardrobe, so why not? Also, water pressure in sink a mere trickle, and (fixed head) shower not much better, although hot enough. No breakfast option. Otherwise a good budget choice to stay, worth 4 stars for me.
