Guest Reviews
- andrew (10/5): P - This is the third stay at the Jervois and each time it has been excellent.
Very comfortable room with everything needed for your time in HK.
Comfortable, clean, quiet rooms with friendly & helpful staff.
Location is also great for everything you want to get from your trip
- Paul (8/5): - I booked because they said it was 700 Sq Dr
It wasn’t close more like 550 sq ft. Not good as room was smaller than advertised
Management said that’s how HK hotels measure size ha
Anyway I was very disappointed that the excuse was pretty poor. Although nice the extra space was needed and not received
- HANNAH (6/5): - The stay was alright, our room was on the 6th floor, the location is very convenient with 7 eleven right in front (You can load octopus card there). Money changer is also within 3-4 walking distance. The room was very spacious & air conditioning was great. The only thing is every time my husband & I sat on the couch, we would get itchy and bug bites would start forming on our legs. I don’t think they clean the couch often, I would suggest check the couch on the 6th floor & have it disinfected..
- Riley (6/5): - Priced high for what you get. Not in the best part of town, room is clean but a little worn. No lobby or common areas. Staff is nice, but limited in what they can offer. Single room per floor.
- cangqiong (8/5): - The staff was ok
- John (10/5): - A beautiful boutique hotel within a easy walk from central area but in a slightly quieter area
- Dan (10/5): - The staff were just excellent. So helpful and friendly. Property location was great. Excellent neighborhood
- Chris (10/5): - Staff are friendly and helpful
- Barnett (10/5): - Our family really loved our stay at the Jervois. The staff were really friendly and the property was in great condition. The rooms were very spacious with enough room for a baby crib in the living room.
- Dennis (10/5): excellent location - The location of this hotel is outstanding. Very convenient to get to public transit airport or ferries. close to central district to get business done. Hotel is very clean and staff is very friendly. Rooms are well equipped
- Mark (10/5): - The hotel is 5mins walk from the Sheung Wan MTR station and nearby lots of restaurants, bars and sights, but perfectly quiet at night.
The living area was comfortable and had amazing views over the city.
The beds & bedding were very comfy and high quality.
- Janie (10/5): - Convenience to Central.
Abundance of public transport - tram, bus and MTR.
Vibrancy of neighbourhood.
- Mona (10/5): - I love everything about this hotel. Clean, well maintained property. Friendly staff. Spacious rooms with ample of sunlight and stunning view. The neighborhood is very walkable with lots of excellent restaurants and shops nearby. Will definitely stay here again for my next visit.
- Ankur (10/5): - Very spacious and clean rooms. Excellent customer service. Near to public transport.
- nelson (10/5): - Centrally located in Sheung Wan close to the MTR station. Many cafés located in the surrounding streets in the morning.
Rooms are larger than most of the same price point in HK, which there only being two rooms per floor.
-Check-in was quick and efficient.
-Gym could be better appointed but it is 24hrs and you can access the space simply with your hotel card.
- Cheuk Wai (10/5): - This is the third time I’m here, lovely and would definitely come back again
- ka ming (10/5): - Very friendly staff clean quiet walkable to many places 👍👍👍
- Alfred (10/5): - Very central location. Unit well equipped and new and very pleasant.
- Darsha (10/5): - Front desk reception was polite and welcoming. Detailed in explaining available services/facilities and policies. Property was within walkable distance to the MTR station (Sheung wan) as well as many popular good eateries nearby. Enjoyed the room amenities too( Netflix, filtered water, Nespresso, designer toiletries) room was clean and tidy too! Received a good bottle of wine (VIP) and got an high level with great city view too. Overall pleasant stay here!
- ka ming (10/5): - Friendly staff Angela Li helped me checked in promptly and guided me through. Highly recommend Thank you !
- Suzanne (10/5): Exceptional service, great hotel - Amazing hotel. Our receptionist, Joyce, could not have been more helpful. Loved absolutely everything about the Jervois and couldn’t recommend it highly enough.
- Ethan (10/5): - Amazing! Great room!
- Verified traveler (10/5): New Favourite! - Amazing location and Facilities in the apartment!
- Aislinn (10/5): Would stay again - Excellent location and very spacious room. Gym was perfectly fine for a short stay and the room was perfect.
- siyu (10/5): - this was a really great place to stay for a few days. the other reviews mentioned aging conditions and are correct but none of it affected our stay materially. there was some staining on the couch and curtains. some of the curtains were also off the hooks but it wasn't an issue since they were still movable. everything was well designed and the space was efficiently used. it was very clean and the only issue was the water reservoir for the water filter needed to be rinsed out.
it was also a great location so we were able to walk to a lot of places. would stay there again.
- Jessica (10/5): Great stay - Great room size , near MTR and many cafe/restaurants all within walking distance.
Lots of pantry, wardrobe and sitting space
- Jeannie (10/5): - Convenient and friendly staff
- AHMET (10/5): - It was a great stay, sizeable quiet and perfect location.
- Michael (10/5): - Large rooms, and very quiet.
- chi hin (2/5): - Used to be good. Now it’s fallen from grace. They removed the kitchens and microwaves. The front desk staff are very rude. Don’t even provide water to you anymore.
- Janie (8/5): - The room rate we paid for a twenty one day stay through Expedia was nearly double what some other guests were paying.
Though advertised (and experienced through a previous stay) as having a kitchenette with cooking utensils and facilities we were checked into a room with only a microwave and a Nespresso machine - not even an electric kettle. After recognising the error, front desk staff were very helpful and arranged for a stove top to be installed.
Staff were most courteous and helpful throughout our stay.
- SIEW FEI (10/5): - Enjoyed a delightful experience at The Jervoise. The front desk team was welcoming and supportive. The room, exceeding Hong Kong standards in spaciousness, impressed us. A special Christmas Eve surprise gift from the hotel added a memorable touch. Will certainly choose to stay here again.
- Wai Si Crystal (8/5): - The 2 bedroom suite is spacious and clean. However, the TV is a bit old and cannot connect to local TV station at first. The staff is friendly and helpful.
- Winnie (10/5): - Manager Joanne and her team of staff show warm hospitality and always attend to my needs no matter what time of the day. I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again the next time when I visit HK.
- Janie (10/5): - friendly customer service
- Peter Y (8/5): - It is located in the old Chinese quarter.
- Philip (8/5): - Conveniently located and good price for the area
- Mary (4/5): - There was a communication problem regarding some arrangements. Also there is a faulty closet lamp which wouldn’t turn off all night and the shower door wouldn’t close shut.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Nice hotel. Clean and spacious, a good find in Hong Kong.
- Imari (10/5): - This hotel was AMAZING. I’ve been a ton of places and I’d rank this place in my Top 10.
- Chui Ting (10/5): - Highly recommend the Jervois, the design is modern and make me feel like home. The room is also big enough with living area and a kitchenette. Have had a very good experience with my stay in the Jervois!
- Verified traveler (10/5): One MTR station away from Central - Great location, 4 minutes walk to the MTR. Nice Frette towel and bed linen. MALIN + GOETZ products. It is spacious for Hong Kong standard. I would suggest higher floors for better views. Good value for money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This is the second time I have stayed in this hotel. The condition of the hotel is more or less the same. it is an enjoyable stay, convenient, clean, and cozy feel to it. Unfortunately I had a problem with the staff who checked me in. I am Asian and I speak English, I made it clear to him that I spoke English, but he continued to talk to me in Cantonese. He handed me some paperwork which had English written so I can read it while he was explaining it to me in Cantonese. Standard procedure stuff that I can more or less figure out what was going on. But it felt like the staff did not have much training himself because he was trying to read the thing with me. At first I thought he just could not speak English, but that was not the case as later in the day I saw him spoke English to a White person. So I just hope that The Jervois looks into this matter and maybe improve their training so that other people do not get the same treatment as I did.
- Adele (10/5): - The room is huge by Hong Kong standards. Very nice and modern. It would have been better if they told us the hairdryer was behind the toilet mirror and that there is a sliding door separating the bedroom and living room. We only discovered on day 2 after I had spent the night doing my work in the kitchen. My partner can't sleep if there is the slightest hint of light.
- Chan Kit (10/5): Excellent experience - Excellent custom service that I have never had with another. And my suite was really clean and comfy! Will love to stay during my business trip or vacation from now on.
Thank you to provide me an excellent experience again with Jervois.
- Verified traveler (8/5): fantastic location - Great location with a mix of old traditional food faves and hipster coffee joints at the doorstep. Lots of privacy. Free shuttle from Central takes you right to the hotel. Only thing is the air conditioning in the room is really strong no matter how you try to adjust it. We had to turn off both units one of the nights.
- Jeffrey (10/5): - So good
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This is my go-to hotel in HK. Its rooms are really small apartments with separate spaces for the kitchen, livingroom, bedroom, bathroom. In fact, a sliding door actually can close off the bedroom from the living area. There is only one apartment per floor and it is therefore as quiet as you will ever get inside a hotel. The apartment are superbly designed for style and ease of living. Floor to ceiling glass exterior walls offer outstanding light, which I strongly prefer. I always request and get a high floor so I am well above street noise. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I love the Sheung Wan neighborhood - a nice mix of the modern (if you want it) and real HK streets with all the energy and life those bring. Its proximity to the MTR/subway is a big plus for me - only 2 blocks - and of course the MTR is without peer as a mass transit system. Until next time . . . .
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location, really nice room. The breakfast place associated with the hotel is just meh not comparable to the quality of the rooms.
- chun kit (8/5): some of the room cannot cook - If you want to cook in the room please inform them before check-in because not all the room can cook.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room were very modern and clean. Good location — close to the MTR.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The hotel location is perfect and the rooms have Lots of space and very clean
- Maureen (10/5): Everything you need in an HK accomodation - Hotel is conveniently located towards the shopping, food and nightlife district - also just few steps away to the subway station! Saves a ton for just walking around. All receptionists and staff are all very accomodating and nice! Will definitely stay here again given the great size of the room and a proper gym!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent room. Clean, nicely designed and most importantly spacious.
- Matthew (10/5): Great - Fantastic accommodation in Sheung Wan. Beautifully appointed apartment-style room. We couldn’t have been happier.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Spacious and great location. Front desk staff helpful and rushes to open the door each time we come through
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic location, easy to to local shopping, restaurants and bars. Partial Harbour view from room, extremely spacious room for Hong Kong. Highly recommend.
- Allana (10/5): Spacious and great location - Great hotel in great location. The suites are VERY large for Hong Kong hotel standards and includes a kitchenette which is always handy and hard to come by. Great restaurants and cafe's nearby, especially Barista Jam which does the best coffee, better than Melbourne standards!!! Highly recommend this hotel.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Couch is very dirty with stains needs cleaning ...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great room in a good location, easy walking distance to Soho, Queens Road, Hollywood road etc. Will definitely stay again
- ANDREW (10/5): Jervois Hotel Hong Kong review. - Very comfortable and clean hotel room in a great location with very friendly & helpful staff.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Design was very comfortable to stay in. Very spacious for the price in Hong Kong. Thoroughly enjoyed the room. Cleanliness was good, didn't notice any off smells and it looked clean. About a 5 minute walk from the closest MTR station. Excellent air conditioners, there's two separate central systems, one in the bedroom, one in the living room,
Bathroom has another door in it that leads outside, I assume it's a fire exit. You can lock it from the inside, but kinda weird.
Staff was fine, solved my problems quickly when I couldn't find the amenities, but nothing other than that.
Overall would stay and recommend this place again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Great location from a walking standpoint (if the taxi driver can find it). With one suitcase I was able to walk from the hotel to the Airport Express station (10 minutes). Large room (separate living room), but small bathroom; no bathtub. The hotel has no amenities, apart from a tiny exercise room and a self-service laundry. For a similar rate or a bit more you can get a hotel with restaurants, lobbies and bars, if that is what you want. I missed not getting breakfast there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - very nice and prime location and the interior is very stylish. spacious room too
- Verified traveler (10/5): - My son and I really enjoyed the location. absolutely close to everything but in a smaller more intimate enclave
- CarCar (8/5): - The location is great and the size of the rooms are very generous. The staff and doorman are friendly and helpful. My only comment for improvements is that there are not enough electrical outlets in the room and there was not a bathtub in our room.
- Neil (10/5): Great Hotel in a great area - I love this hotel. Great rooms and great location.
- Jackie (10/5): - Bed and pillows were the best! So cozy and soft. Absolutely comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Fantastic hotel in the heart of Sheung Wan, Hong Kong!
Room: We had a one bedroom suite and loved the layout, bedroom and bathroom in one area, and the lounge and kitchen in another, felt like a small apartment/home for the time we were there. It gave you a sense of relaxation with different areas of the room and it was a large enough place to stay in Hong Kong! The room was very clean, lovely amenities and comfortable bed, pillows, couch and towels. Fantastic view on the 21st floor overlooking the city. 2 air-conditioning panels to control climate in the 2 rooms, and the elevator opens up to your own personal floor, loved that extra touch!
Hotel: Rooftop sitting area is great to bring some drinks/food up there and enjoy the views of Hong Kong, gym on the 1st floor is great, clean, self service laundry is also great if you need to do some quick washing on an extended stay! Front desk area is small but thats not a problem as check in/out is very smooth and quick, they can also store your luggage until your room is ready or if you need to check out and your flight is later.
Location: In the heart of Sheung Wan, 5-10 minute walk from Sheung Wan MTR station, lots of cafes, bars, shops and restaurants are near by. Queens Road central and Hollywood Road just a stones throw away. MTR can take you anywhere in Hong Kong which is the best thing, Central station only 1 stop away! Safe and busy area like most of Hong Kong.
- WENDY (10/5): Awesome Stay ! - Came for a concert and this place served all my needs and the comfort like my own home.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautifully designed room with spacious living area. Perfect for a birthday celebration. Staff were friendly and attentive.
- Josh (10/5): Love this place - stay here. - Great location - great service - such a beautiful gem.
- Erik (10/5): One of the absolute best - Beautiful hotel, modern rooms, great location near Hollywood St and the diverse restaurants and night life in Hong Kong. Staff is unquestionably the best of any hotel I've seen -- proactive, went out of their way to help, very professional and enthusiastic to accommodate. I will absolutely stay here again, or at one of their sister properties (One96, 99 Bonham, The Putman).
- Verified traveler (10/5): Love it - Nice space for HongKong, cenvenient location
- Thomas (10/5): 5 days of fun - I arrived the evening before the typhoon. Hotel is in a great location & close to the MTR. Hotel is stylish, nice furnishings & great storage. Perfect for 1 or a couple. Spacious with living/dining & kitchenette. I’d be happy staying there for a month or more. One of the best places I’ve stayed in HK. They also have 2 bedroom apartments but I haven’t seen one.
- Sintesana (10/5): Great room and great staff. - Enjoyable.
- Craig (10/5): - We had a great 2 bed and 2 bathroom suite. It was perfectly comfortable. Close to the MTR and only a short walk to the ferries. All the stafff were very helpful and we would happily stay there again
- David (8/5): - Would have been nice to have a higher room
- Anonymous (10/5): Excellent stay, will recommend to anyone - Clean and spacious studio with tasteful modern interiors. Walking distance to sheung wan mtr and a number of good coffeehouses. Under 10mins by cab from hk airport express station. Staff were attentive and remembered all of my requests.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Recommended! - I am a local and decided to stay at The Jervois for a quick getaway. Very well-designed space, nice amenities, clean room, polite and helpful front desk staff. Located at Sheung Wan near the MTR station, with lots of coffee shops and local stores around the neighbourhood. It is a nice accommodation if you would like to stay at a spacious place (>700 sqft), compared to majority of hotel rooms no larger than 400/500 sqft, with convenient access around HK and experience chill local living, this is the place.
- PPYC (10/5): A definite come-back-to hotel - We were made very welcome by the hotel's excellent reception team. The staff were courteous, friendly, professional and helpful. Our apartment was spacious, well-designed and comfortable. We are grateful an earlier reviewer alerted us to how easy it is to get to the hotel by using the Airport Express which stops at the Hong Kong Station. Then a free shuttle bus (H2) which stops at the corner of the hotel.
The hotel is in Sheung Wan, an old, still traditional area of Hong Kong, largely unchanged from the 1950s, yet only short walk to Hong Kong Central.
A bonus for football and rugby fans is that the pub next door shows major matches in real time on TV.
- Terry (10/5): My new HK Go-To Choice - From now on, the Jervois will be my HK choice for business trips. The Sheung Wan neighborhood is a nice mix of the real HK -- lots of tiny stores, streets full of people, restaurants/coffee shops of all kinds -- and the up-to-date.
My hotel room really was a small apartment -- effectively 4 rooms -- tiny kitchen, dining/sitting area, bedroom, bathroom. Floor to ceiling windows on corner apartments so bright and light. Tasteful furnishings. Very modern.
Only one unit served by a single elevator for each floor so no corridor noise.
A great boon is the proximity of 2-3 blocks to the subway/MTR which gets you just about anywhere at minimal cost and speed.
Very helpful and courteous people at the front desk.
Excellent in every way!
- Pixie (8/5): comfy place to stay, pretty modern design - I love SOHO and the Restaurants around the area. Jervois is a very clean and modern design is quite interesting. i recommend the place to all my friends
- Queen6w (10/5): Spacious and comfortable - Tiny lobby but spavious room. The room with separate bedroom and living room is spacious and very comfortable. I like the couch and dining desk at the living area, where I can rest and relax after a full day outing. The hotel is walking distance, less than 5 min walk, to MTR Sheungwan station. Going to and from airport is super easy and convenient too. Just take the airport express train to HK Central station, then take the airport shuttle bus H2 to stop number 1 and it will stop you right beside the hotel. Everyone in the hotel is friendly and helpful. Frankly, I can't really think of anything negative about the hotel.
- Darren (8/5): - Great place but shower had mold in it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable hotel in a central location. The Airport Express shuttle stop is right around the corner from the hotel's entrance, and the Sheung Wan MTR station is about a 5 minute walk away. Lots of options for restaurants and bars within a short walking distance. Room was very clean, and the rain shower was a real treat! Front desk staff were all very friendly, courteous and helpful. Will definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Nice little surprise! - I have actually stayed at the Jervois a number of years ago and the place I usually stay at was unavailable. Well I think I will be coming back the Jervois.
Typically when you revisit a place you run the risk of seeing how it has declined but this was the exact opposite. It was even better than before. The reception was quick and helpful (and I really had to use the bathroom so it was doubly appreciated) and they mentioned that I can use their free phone as a WiFi hot-spot when I am out and about, which I did!
The room was really great. Good lighting with big windows and a really good sized room. There was even a little kitchenette which I would have used had I stayed longer. And the bed was comfy. This is a big deal for me. I hate hard beds which I get a lot at other places.
The location is sweet. You are steps away from the MTR (Sheung Wan take exit A2) and there are a lot of little restaurants in the area and some good bars too.
All in all I really enjoyed it and I will be back next time I am in Hong Kong (which is all the time)
- Greg (10/5): Fantastic boutique hotel - The Jervois is in a great location, close to the MTR station and Hollywood Road. The room was compact but well designed and felt spacious with a small kitchen and complimentary water, soft drinks and snacks. The room was very clean and the staff very friendly and helpful (particularly Wayne). We will definitely stay there again next time we are in Hong Kong.
- Ian (10/5): Hong Kong in the sky. - Great hotel in a great area.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location, could live in these rooms. - This was a great find. Large suite rooms. Well appointed. Very comfortable. Easy to get around here and food and places to hang out. 10 minute walk trendy bars and cafes on Hollywood. Staff was excellent. Spoke good English and were helpful in getting us around the city. Great spot for.forst time or returning American visitors. Would highly recommend giving them a a try.
- ou (10/5): Nice hotel , perfect location. - Close to everything, many good restaurants nearby. Easy to walk to central district and attractions. 200 m from MTR station. Best coffee, best congee and best dimsum are all just 70m away.
- GH (10/5): Great Location - Extremely favourable. Comfortable stay. Enjoyed my time of 11 days at The Jervois. Would certainly stay there again.
- ALINA R (10/5): Great location and service - Great location, within walking distance from restaurants, bars, shops and MTR. Room was spacious and modern. Very good service, friendly and efficient. Happy with our stay, would return.
- Aileen (10/5): Comfortable rooms, excellent service - The accommodation was spacious, clean and comfortable with great views. The staff were really helpful and always attentive. I would definitely return to The Jervois if I am back in Hong Kong.
- Michael (10/5): A pleasant alternative - A nice alternative to a typical hotel room, this is closer to a serviced apartment. Large for Hong Kong. Very nicely furnished, well appointed with everything for a simple meal. Not much of a lobby, but who needs one. There is a nice rooftop which the staff don't advertise but is available during the day. The laundry machines were free. This is located in an area with many good restaurants and close to the Sheung Wan MTR station.
- ramanya (10/5): 5 stars - 5 stars for overall experience. Best front desk service you should ask for. Best quality meterial large room size. Super happy would definitely go back.
- Gustav (10/5): Super - Very helpful and friendly staff; Spacious and clean room/suite; good position; easy to reach from the airport (express) and close to the subway and tram station. Not far away from the center of HK-Island and the Ferry station to Macau and Kowloon. Good also for restaurant/food in the area; good choice for breakfast in the small restaurant (same building); I recommend this hotel to everybody.
- Miles (10/5): Great stay - Rooms were lovely and big for HK standards. The area was very central to all the great food and coffee places and was a great starting point to the walk to the peak of the mountain
- Nadia (8/5): Hotel right next to Airport Express shuttle stop. - This hotel is great value if you value the suite life with some space - the one bedroom is half a floor in size - split between bedroom and living room (connected to kitchenette).
I went with a 2yo so the suite and kitchen was quite a necessity. Also, before I arrived I requested for a baby bathtub, baby chair and baby cot - and all were already in the room before we checked in. (You will be surprised with how many 4/5 star hotels forget to send these things up before we check in and we end up waiting around for these things to be set up before we can feed the toddler).
Am very happy with the location as well - only 1 min walk from Sheung Wan station - which is 2 stops away from central (where Hong kong station and airport express is connected to). You dont need the train to get to the station though - you can use the airport express shuttle which is right outside this hotels door.
Also - has a 24 hour gym! (and launderette which is completely free)
Pleasant stay and will stay again.
- Kevin (10/5): Spacious Room in Central HK - Our stay at the Jervois was fantastic. Our family of 4 was very comfortable in the 2 bedroom suite, but we were in HK after all so it’s not like we were in the room that much! We were on a high floor so we had a great view of the city/harbor and no city noise. We didn’t hear our neighbors at all.
The location is quite convenient and easy walking distance to IFC, mid level escalators, and restaurants, bars, and shops.
Be aware there is just one room per floor, so there is only one elevator that goes to your floor. During peak times, you might have a slight wait for an elevator. As a relatively small boutique hotel, there was only 1 person to check us in or out. Again, maybe a slight wait compared to what you might expect at a larger, named hotel. Lastly, our housekeeping started around 4:30 pm each day, which seemed later than the norm, but no big deal. The room was very modern and clean— with a full sized fridge and washing machine in the kitchen.
