• Megan (9/5): Comfortable, great breakfast and lovely staff - I liked everything about the property! It was a bit out of the way from local shops but nothing that couldn’t be walked!
• Pablo (2/5): Terrible Experience - The only thing I actually enjoyed about the hotel was the bed, which was ok, and the views from the room/breakfast area. These overlook the Mekong river and the sunrise is beautiful. Except for the above the stay was an actual disaster. The hotel is uphill from the pier, and they were quite disorganised when it came to picking us up, which meant having to wait in the pier. The road leading up to the hotel is under construction, meaning that the van taking you to the hotel can only make it about 40% of the way, the rest of the way must be made on foot, something which they do not tell you about until you are in the van. They have porters that are meant to help you with your luggage but there are few, they did not seem happy and I am not someone to let other people carry my stuff. This meant that I tried to bring my suitcase to the hotel, but the last one hundred meters were quite difficult due to the condition of the road, so someone was sent to help carry it, which the person did via motorcycle. When he delivered the case to my room he aggressively demanded a tip, to the point in which I had to ask him to leave. I had just arrived to the country and had no local currency, and only had foreign bills with of quite high denomination, which I were not going to give away as a tip. To get out of the situation I asked him his name and if it would be possible to give him the tip the next day, once I had had the opportunity to exchange/go to an ATM. He said he would be off the next day. The next day he was in the hotel, he was not off. And proceeded to give me uncomfortable looks at every opportunity. At this point I decided to not give him any tips, as this behaviour is quite unacceptable. However it does seem that the hotel encourages it, as you can see in other reviews. Now, about the hotel itself. The rooms are run down and well past their date. Half the sockets are unusable as the plugs fall out. The pool is ok, but is over 200 steps down the hill and the views are blocked by a construction site. The staff seems quite miserable and did not look happy at all. Breakfast was mediocre.

• Gareth (4/5): Not brilliant but not bad but let down by staff. - The room was nice and gave a nice feeling of a lodge with beautiful views from the balcony over the river. The beds in the room was two single mattress not one matress which separates during the night, the room could do with a deep clean it looks fine on the surface but it really isn’t and for the price point in comparison to other accomodations. The staff also need training in customer service. The van broke on the drive to the hotel due to the staff driving to fast and aggressively over roads not suited to a van. Then to get to the hotel and the staff argue with the driver they organised to collect us and drop us off at the bottom of 200 stairs to walk to reception with no offer to help with bags, To argue with the manager about departure time in the morning for your slow boat should not be happening and it’s unacceptable. Then to top it off the food at the restaurant is not great and it begs me to ask how can you not cook your local food. I understand at the moment they are reconstructing the road so a 2 minute drive to hotel now takes 15-20mins so tried to organise a earlier time which we then argued back and forth about till he finally agreed. To be honest in the morning due to the roadworks and lack of time we ended up walking to slow boat as it took 6 minutes instead of a uncomfortable 15-20min drive. So overall a disappointing stay which we had gone out of our way to stay somewhere nice booked on the reviews.

• Corinna (9/5): A handsome room overlooking the river. - The view of the Mekong and mountain from the terrace in front of the room is fabulous. The room is very handsome, lots of dark wood. Comfortable furniture, nice and dark outside at night. We were driven back to our boat in the morning. It was a little confusing to use the shower and the toilet since they each had an individual closet room and the light switches took some finding.

Öffnungszeiten des Restaurants waren nicht gut, bei Ankunft (gegen Mittag) gab es keine Möglichkeiten (für den Preis hätte ich anderes erwartet), Dinner Optionen hätte ich mir mehr Geschmack gewünscht und das Frühstück war sehr enttäuschend. Je nachdem wo der Raum ist, muss man sehr viele Treppenstufen laufen.

They pick you up directly from the boat pier upon arrival and take you back the next morning, which makes everything very easy and stress-free. The room was very comfortable, and being able to relax by the pool after a long day of navigation was wonderful. The food was truly excellent. Highly recommended!

The pool was quite small but very nice, and the hotel restaurant served delicious food. The hotel is a real gem for relaxing between slow boat cruise days. We would have loved to stay longer! The only thing I can think of is that the lighting in the room was rather dim, but that didn't affect the overall mood.

Alles werd bijna koud opgediend. Was onze slechtste maaltijd tijdens onze tocht van 5 weken en jammer genoeg niet onze goedkoopste.

• Daniel (10/5): Wunderschöner Sonnenuntergang mit top Kulisse und Elefanten. - Die Lage war ok. Aber mit dem Transport vom Steg zum Hotel ist das kein Problem. Aber die Aussicht vom Balkon auf den Mekong war unglaublich schön. Wir hatten direkten Blick auf eine wunderschöne Landschaft! Wir haben sogar Elefanten gesehen. Allso falls Sie mit dem Slowboat nach Luang Prabang unterwegs sind, unbedingt buchen! Sie haben sogar ein eigenes Restaurant wo man Abends essen kann. Alles top. =)

Room very spacious and charming patio. Restaurant onsite which makes it easy to find dinner location. The fact that we had a smoking neighbor who made us stay inside to avoid the smoke drifting our way which is a pity since our room had a beautiful patio area

• Tania (5/5): Lovely location but too expensive! - We had a lovely room with a great view. It fronts the Mekong with lovely views of the elephant sanctuary. It had a comfy bed and decent balcony to sit on It’s very expensive to stay - not worth the money. There was no hot water and the water itself ran out after about 2 minutes. There is no hairdryer either. The 14usd for a meal per person is excessive - we went into town and ate 2 courses and 3 beers for 2 people for about 12ish!

Wunderbares Kolonialstil Hotel über dem Mekong Hotel, besonders die Sanitäranlagen sind schon ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen, aber das Haus hat schon Flair

• Lindsey (10/5): We were on a slow river boat down the Mekong and this overnight stay was just perfect - The location, overlooking the elephant sanctuary on the other side of the river was very good (we saw elephants coming down to drink the next morning). The hotel was very professionally run and the staff were all friendly and efficient. We had a good dinner in the restaurant on the terrace (the portions were huge) and a very nice breakfast in the morning. We wish that we could have stayed longer Nothing!
• Claudine (8/5): Mooie locatie, fijn hotel. - Het uitzicht was fantastisch! We sliepen hier onderweg op onze slowbaot trip. Kleine kamer, maar groot genoeg. Het diner en ontbijt is een vast menu, je kan niets kiezen. De prijzen zijn voor Laos best hoog, ze hanteren toeristenprijzen. Wij waren er in januari en dan is het sochtends en savonds erg koud, dus houdt hier rekening mee (je eet buiten).

Lieu éthique Nous avions la deniere chambre à savoir la suite, pas le choix. Je pense que pour le rapport qualité prix il vaut mieux prendre une chambre deluxe ou classique. Un détail si amélioration possible : Le toit laisse passer la lumière et comme le couloir des escaliers est allumé toute la nuit il ne fait pas complètement noir dans cette suite. Si des personnes sont sensibles à cela éviter la suite du haut
• Kelsey (8/5): - The view was incredible. Stayed here for a stop over on the slow boat trip. Wish I could have stayed longer to experience more, but it was a nice place to unwind.
• John (8/5): Enjoyable - Helpful, friendly staff. Room was fine with a spectacular view over the Mekong River. Quite a few steps to climb or descend from your room to reception and restaurant. No problem for the young at heart or able bodied.
• Jason (8/5): Great one night stop for us that broke up the slow boat journey from chiang rai. - The location is amazing! Views incredible! Clean, spacious and nicely decorated rooms.
• Philippe (10/5): - Tout était magnifique de l‘accueil à l’accompagnement de la chambre.
• Renaud (10/5): Établissement parfait - Tout On a même pu voir les éléphants se baignaient depuis la terrasse de la chambre
• JULIA (8/5): Hôtel exceptionnel pour le cadre mais manque d’âme - Le calme , l’emplacement ,la terrasse du restaurant et du bar ainsi que le balcon de le chambre qui offrent une vue exceptionnelle Rien de spécifique mais une sensation d’un hôtel qui n’est pas à la hauteur des attentes et manque de chaleur
• Nicolia (9/5): Great view on the river - Fantastic view from room We arrived from the Shompoo boat with 2 kids. When we asked to ride in the almost empty van, the French male hotel rep said that we had to ride in the back of the almost full pick up truck. Also the bed was very uncomfortable. I could feel all of the springs and I am a small person. We had 2 rooms and shower hose leaked spraying everywhere.
