Guest Reviews
- Mark (10/5): Overall, very nice - Very quiet, very clean very courteous staff
- Justo (10/5): - Good
- Gregory (10/5): Nice stay - It was nice and comfortable. The service was great
- Roman (4/5): - It's just an old ran down hotel that smells like cigarettes and weed. Locks in hotel door don't work properly. They don't accept Google or Apple pay. I didn't see any bedbugs but saw one roach.
- Chris (2/5): - Terrible conditions. Pictures online not even close to reality. Towels in room stained yellow.
- Zoey (2/5): - Checked in and checked right out. Sketchy area and guests. Did not feel comfortable staying just one night
- Kurbonov (10/5): - Хорошие персоналий
- Alex Sr (2/5): - Dirty and smelly
- Pug (2/5): - Do not stay here unless your Tetanus shot is up to date. The entire hotel though labeled no smoking/vaping smelled like an ashtray. The room carpet was so dirty that it turned my feet black. There was crusted food on the wall and table tops. The only thing this place has going for it was the friendly front desk staff that had no idea how poorly housekeeping was performing.
- Bradley (6/5): - Inexpensive but dirty
- Juan (10/5): - .
- Richard (2/5): Don't go here. Ok for homeless folks - This place is a dump. Filthy and smelly. It's says non-smoking, but it is not. The cleaning person was snagging as they came out of another room! There is a coffee pot, no coffee or other items. The bathroom was so filthy that we had to clean it out small curly hairs! The beds were a torture device.
- Anthony (2/5): - Terrible staff and I found drug paraphernalia under the bed. DISGUSTING!!
- Eddie James Walker (2/5): - The big sheets were dirty. The mattress had stains And dirt, and it looked like it was mold was on the mattress That room was terrible. One of the worst rooms ever been in my life. I demanded My money back and got a refund. I will never go there again. Or recommend it to anybody else. The hotel should be condemned
- Stephanie (4/5): - Pictures for this property are completely misleading. Everything is damaged or dirty or altogether missing. TV but no cable. Everything was very very dirty. Holes in the walls. Cigarette burns on the comforters and the floor and the furniture. And everything smelled like smoke. Kitchenette was disgusting but not that we could use it anyway there were no knobs. The air conditioner was broken so it was so hot in our room. The windows opened but there were no screens to keep the bugs out. The carpet looks like it has never been shampooed and there were so many holes in it. Even the mirrors were foggy from never being wiped down. Some of the sheets and pillow cases were stained yellow. All of the lamp shades were broken and the drawers for the side tables did not stay closed. I can forgive a lot. Things can be old that doesn't bother me but the level of gross was something I have never experienced before. I feel like they should have paid me to stay there.
- Anh Viet (6/5): - Staff really nice. Laundry is clean and smells good. Guests are smoking in rooms and we can smell right away. Neighborhood doesn't feel safe at all, had to park our car across the street in fear to have it broke in...
- korey (2/5): - nothing but lights worked holes in every wall no stove burners microwave didnt work
- Verified traveler (2/5): - We did not even stay the whole night. Room was filthy.
- Marie (4/5): - Smells like smoke when you walk in, room was dirty, plumbing not working and I couldn’t lock the door
- Dana (8/5): - The room was a lot bigger than expected.
- Chris (10/5): Great place to stay - The people who work the front office were very nice and kind show us thr roo. First to mank sure that we liked it. Will definitely be back
- Cynthia (2/5): Will not go again - Smelled like marijuana as soon as you walk in. The mattresses/ covers had stains and dirt on them. Place takes cash only. “Clean” towels had multiple different colored hair strands on them. Only one small trash can in the room. Multiple holes in the walls. Floors felt icky. I don’t leave reviews typically but this was horrid. I would rather pay double and stay else where. 135 for one room here
- Tony (2/5): Disappointing Hotel - The matter of fact this hotel should be closed down, we booked like a week ahead of our schedule time for our daughter graduation from the navy RCT we arrived at the hotel 12 AM in the morning the room was not even prepared it looks like nobody ever cleaned the room every where in this hotel full will cigarettes smoke it looks like the bedding haven’t been cleaned for months we were very disappointed we didn’t take shower in the bathroom we were forced to book some where else the next day
- Rachelle (4/5): - The room was disgusting, the walls were filthy, only 2 towels and one washcloth for 3 people. It smelled horrible. There was blood stains on the sheets on one of the beds. Awful hotel, would not recommend to anyone
- Abelardo (2/5): bad - the smell is so bad, bathroom was not cleaned well, and our front neighbor was fighting all night plus was smoking everywhere
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I didn’t like anything. The air conditioner was being held up by duck tape and it fell down. The room smelled bad and it was dusty like it wasn’t cleaned for a while. The microwave was bad and I didn’t know until after I warmed my food up and started to eat it and I instantly started to feel sick.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Was in town for the annual Waukegan sailing race. Booked a non-smoking room and the room reeked of smoked. Honestly the flimsiest pillows I have ever seen. The AC did not work for more than half the not. I would absolutely not stay here.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room was extremely dirty , the toilet , the sheets the tub etc. I asked to get another room and the next room was just as filthy if not worse . Blood was on the sheets the stove was dirty and the refrigerator was broke. The atmosphere smelled like smoke , it wasn’t clean at all. Just atrocious , I WONT BE BACK !
- Jimmy (6/5): - The room has tissues in the drawers and under th
- Dan (2/5): Bad - Horrible. Dirty. Bad bed. Soap was already used.
- Pamela (2/5): - Clerk said my registration wasn't valid I didn't get my room.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Strong smell like people smoking next to you. Bathroom floor was not clean. Carpets dirty
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly and nice hosts. The room was very big and nice. Good price
- Michael (10/5): Good people - Overall very good stay . The staff very nice people and eager to help me with my travel issues that i had . I was in new town and basically lost and they were there. The bed was outstsnding . I was very impressed when i seen an iron and board in my room.
- Whitney (10/5): - Peaceful and comfy
- Charlotte (8/5): Really close to Great Lakes Naval - I was pleasantly surprised after reading prior reviews. Yes the decor could be updated but the service was great. The front desk even loaned me an HDMI cable so family could hook our laptop to the TV so we could watch my daughter’s navy boot camp graduation since only 3 of the 10 of the party could attend in person.
- Marion (2/5): - Found the rooms to be poor and in need of "Total" need of cleaning. There was heavy dust and debris in the corners and on surfaces throughout the room. The surfaces were not cleaned adequately. The bathrooms had residues from dirt and cleaning products that were apparently there for an extended period. The pillows and bed linens smelled of mildew and sweat. I would not reccomend this property to anyone wishing to stay near RTC Great Lakes. I am extremely disappointed and dissatisfied.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Do not stay here! - Cobwebs hanging from the ceiling. Toilet not clean. Walls and carpets dirty. Was listed as queen beds, only doubles. Overall inside and outside was very dirty.
- Verified traveler (6/5): This Place - Well The Only Reason I Stayed Here Was Because of my Son's Graduation and All other Area Hotels Were All Booked That's It....It Needs to Be Renovated...The Walls are Paper Thin might aswell put a Sheet instead of the Thin Walls...The hot water knob squealed when you turn it on the small fridge was unclean...The only thing that was ok was the bed slept Ok...If I had to do it Again I wouldn't...The housekeeper never smiled like she's miserable working there and I'm glad I brought my own towels and wash cloths from home because there's were filthy....
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was big. Was advertised as queen beds. But they were only double beds
- Linda (6/5): Good bargain price, but hotel not suitable. - The hotel was old and unkept. It needs a good cleaning and repairs. The beds were comfortable and the staff was very friendly. I thought we were getting a bargain for what we paid, but you get what you pay for. Hotels.com made it seem like it was a good place to stay. NOT. Will not stay there again if I come back to Illinois.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It smelled like cigarettes inside. There was also a mildew smell. The bath tub was disgusting and had no plugs. There was a rip in the comforter. There was no do not disturb signs. The elevator smelled like wet nasty cigarettes. The bathroom door was moldy. There was no air except in the room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Book somewhere else. - When you first pull up, you will be immediately unimpressed. But maybe you're like me, and decide to put your immediate apprehension aside and walk in. You will be greeted by an aged foyer with no front desk to speak of, simply a drive-thru-like locked window with a small ledge. The carpet is dated and the wallpaper (it's 2019) is peeling. I got to my room. Locks have been updated, but the door is old. Inside the room is lack-luser. My full-length mirror on the bathroom door had been cracked and patched with clear packing tape. The bedding is a floral pattern from the 80's and scratchy to the touch. The key was when I took a look at the window AC unit: it had mold in the vents. I hopped on the nope train, riding first class back to the front "desk," where I asked for a refund and looked to stay somewhere else. Until this place spends some money to update their building and amenities, I'd give it a solid pass. But I guess you get what you pay for.
- SH (8/5): - I used 3 beds room that was hard to find around this area. The room has nice coordinated interior with small kitchen. The price was very reasonable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Its a nice quiet area. Restaurants within walking distance.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Away from the city area. Very quiet was a plus. Wish they had kitchenettes in the room.
- Dee (4/5): - Mattresses not comfortable. Found cockroaches in room.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It had an elevator. So loading and unloading was convenient. Although it didnt have a kitchen, we had to order out during our stay.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The hotel was close to the naval base which was good. But the place was loud and people were screaming and arguing at 3am til about 6am. Will never stay there ever again.
- Ke'Vin (2/5): - This place is extremely outdated
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The rooms were dirty, the sheets didn't fit the bed correctly & our room key didn't work several times so we had to go down stairs multiple times to get it reprogrammed.
- Gisela (8/5): - Far from hogjway, very quiet. Liked that not a lot of people.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not a great experience - I should have read the reviews before I booked. When I did it was too late to cancel the reservation without being charged. The other reviews are pretty accurate from what we experienced. If you’re looking for a place to be able to shower and sleep that’s all you’ll get. We stayed 2 nights and the second day we stayed the room was not cleaned. I asked the service desk for extra coffee and told them the room was big cleaned and she argued with me that it was. Don’t waste your money!
- Marsela (10/5): - I never realized you had a hotel at this location, the hotel was hidden. I liked the fact that it was away from the busy streets and quiet. I saw other people there, but it was so quiet that it felt like we were the only ones staying there and i appreciate that.
- S (6/5): - Room was dirty. Bathrooms need a good cleaning. You can see the don't sweep or mop with the door closed because behind the door is nasty. Left over food on the floor and seat. Gross stains in the blanket.
- Catherine (2/5): Horrible - Horrible. Dirty. Poor service. Our room wasn’t even ready and we were there 3 hours after check-in time! Don’t waste your money!! We should have listened to the reviews!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible Do NOT stay!!!! - When we arrived our room door was wide open which was weird. We went in and the beds had new sheets which had burn marks and stains but our room had not been wiped down. There was beer bottles and trash on the floor used tissue. The microwave had food and mold in it the cabinets were dirty it was gross! We told the front desk and they sent up a cleaner to fix it and she said there was nothing wrong with the room left and slammed the door. They gave us a new room which was a little better however he floors were still dirty had not been vacuumed and the beds had stains. Would never recommend anyone stayin here ever!
- Cori (6/5): Not as pictured - the beds were clean and comfortable, but the bathroom was dirty, the toilet paper holder was broken, the hall smelled like smoke. There was no screen on the window. The lamps were dirty and not all of them had light bulbs. The plugs were broken.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The rooms were very dirty. The microwave and refrigerator were appalling! The manager gave us another microwave to use. I would not stay there again, nor would I recommend it!
- D (4/5): Unprofessional and disgusting - Very displeased....hallways smelled like marijuana. Had a stranger knock on my door and asked me for a cigarette. Asked for an extra towel and the front desk had an attitude. And when i checked in at 5pm my room wasnt cleaned. Will never return and dont recommend anyone to stay there!
Need to change the name! Far from Executive Suite! More like ghetto suites!!!!
- Sean (6/5): Ok - Wasn't bad but wasn't what we were expecting. Drug dealers outside the front door, smell of marijuana being smoked, cigarette smoke smell. Staff was friendly when you saw them. They were not at the desk unless you rang the bell. Probably won't stay there again
- William (10/5): Naval graduation hotel. - No frills. You get exactly what you paid for, a place to sleep! Bed was comfortable, shower hot, and the room clean. If you need a place to stay and aren't looking to do anything but that, than this the place for you. It was perfect for our needs!
- Lydia (4/5): - The facility was dirty. The fridge in the room didn't work well. The computers were down when we checked in and was charged $10 extra but was returned the difference. The rooms weren't clean efficiently. The beds were not comfortable nor the pillows.
- Verified traveler (2/5): DON'T GO HERE - If a picture is worth a 1,000 words then the first 990 words would be "lies". The whole place was filthy. The halls smelled like smoke. The room that I paid for was HORRIBLE. The room was not cleaned at all which I should have expected based on the condition of the rest of the facility. The floors were not cleaned at all. Not even close. There was standing dust and dirt in everyplace that didn't get the quick "let me hurry up and make it looked I cleaned this room so I can leave because I hate my job and don't take it seriously" treatment. The bathroom was equally disgusting. I doubt it was ever really deep cleaned but rather wiped down very poorly. There was dust and hair and pubic hair in the tub and the corners of the floor. I was there less than an half of an hour and left. The hotel manager refused to refund my money but offered to put me in a different room, which I'm sure would not have been much better and I wasn't willing to find out. After arguing with the manager and Expedia I decided to bite the bullet and leave. I paid for a nasty room in a nasty hotel and wasted my money only to get another room in a MUCH BETTER place down the road. DON'T GO HERE!!!
- Becky (2/5): I would not stay here again! - The heat worked and the shower was hot. That is all I can say about this hotel in a positive manner.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Na. Able to get three beds for family and WA moved out of one room that first smelled liked cat pee
- Verified traveler (4/5): Don't Bother - The hotel room could have been cleaner. The bedding was clean, but the carpet had not been vacuumed very well if at all. The bathroom floor was not very clean. There seemed to be people of questionable character, who were not guests, hanging around inside and outside the hotel. I'm glad we didn't have young children with us. I felt some mild concern for safety.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Had 3 beds, was close to destination. Room wasn't very clean.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Just okay - The hotel was not very clean and has no amenities. I had to go to the front desk to request shampoo.
- Iaangel (2/5): The worst hotel I've ever stayed at!!!!!! - After checking into our room. The wifi was not accessible to log into the Naval website. After coming back to the hotel after the graduation, we found dirty socks between the sheet and the blankets. We looked under the beds and there were French fries and dust that had been there for quite awhile. The mattress cover was badly torn and there was lipstick on the blankets that we could not see the night before due to poor lighting. I went to talk to the manager and no one came after ringing the bell several times for them and waiting 20 minutes to come to the window. No one showed up for customer service. I was unable to get a refund hence them not coming to the window. I highly suggest if you are looking for a nice place to lay your head after a long trip, DO NOT go to this place. The outside is very deceiving. This place should be condemned!!!!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The stay did the trick, however, the hallway just had a lot of smell of smoke even though the hallways were marked with non-smoking rooms.
- Rogelio (6/5): Room for Improvement - Day one- room was not cleaned, nor the bed made. Day 2 , room was clean, bed was made, but I had to go look for person that did room, because no towels were left. Day 3 was ok. The remote control on TV did not work well.
- Navymom (6/5): Hotel close to naval training base - Needs updating and better lighting in hallways. Dusty tables and lamps. No drain plug for bath tub. No snack machines. Dust and dirt in certain areas. Stained carpet
- Jacob (6/5): 3 bed hotel room - close to Six Flags and a room with 3 beds was perfect for our oversized family.
- Joaquin (2/5): Dirty rooms - worst hotel I've ever been to. The place was dirty and had stains/ food all over comforter and sheets. I went and complained and was given a different room that was even worse. I told them I was not gonna be staying there at all and was charged for 2 nights still. The guy at the front desk is rude and apparently doesn't see an issue with having dirty rooms. He kept telling me he didn't see what the problem was with the room which was very obvious. Don't waste your time and money at this place. this place should not be in business.
- Rosie (4/5): Isolated - Clean room, no hot water, isolated area. No walking distances to restaurants, smell like pot and tried to cover the smell with candela. No communications between the staff, housekeeper didn't know the room was occupied. No good experience at all.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - I really just didn't like the place. The room was outdated, and I didn't really feel welcome there.
- Michael (2/5): - The room was not as clean as it should have been there was dust a lining the walls with eaten sunflower shells. It turns out that I only needed my room for a couple of days and they would not let me out of the agreement with Expedia. When I tried to call Expedia they had me on hold for so long I finally decided to give up and just stay. I wish I had taken pictures to show.
- CHRISTINA (2/5): DISGUSTING! - Absolutely awful!!! This is by far the worst hotel that we have ever stayed at. The place was rundown, in desperate need of repair, and was totally disgusting! We stayed in a room that had 3 queen beds and everyone of them had big brown stains all over them that was clearly visible because there were no bed skirts. There were no light bulbs in any of the lamps, and none of them were plugged in, which really didn't matter since they did not have light bulbs in them, lol. The room was just dirty overall and was rundown. I honestly don't know how they are still in business. We had seen that they had bad reviews before we went but it was a last minute trip to six flags for the weekend so we didn't have many options. Never again!!!!!
- Charles (8/5): Remodeled room and bathroom - The Hotel smelled of smoke. It appeared clean. Our room and bathroom were very nice with the exception of the shower head. It was like a garden soaker. Otherwise very nice for a night.
- Tina M. (6/5): - This place is a good for a good nights sleep. Yes it does need some repair, wallpaper in hallway, caulking in bathroom, a few more coffee cups, towels. Did not look dirty just in need of some maintence. I would stay there again.
- Terry (6/5): - Wierd TV. Commercials were muted and one TV show had narratives.
- Diane (4/5): - Air conditioner was very noisy. Hard to fall asleep and stay asleep.
- Steve (2/5): Dirty - Sink didn't turn off the towles had stains on them no sheets on bed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Don't waste your time nor money. - I absolutely regret spending money here. I was supposed to be staying for 2 days and I was so uncomfortable in the room that I left and was only given back $38. I would rather take my loss than spend another night there. Room was absolutely nothing like pictures online. Bathroom was the worst. Shower was extremely small and dirty. Tv was very old and not flat screen (which I could deal with). Just overall bad.
- Debra (4/5): it was ok - Stayed a better places for the money that was spent.
