Guest Reviews
- Chiew (7/5): -
- Borsellino (10/5): - Easy to check in with Friendly staff and great value, one of the best sleeps this trip, and easy to come and go. I didn't factor in the parking element but was able to park on the street.
- Brenton (10/5): -
- Warren (6/5): - Central location. Bed. Not very clean. Room smelt.
- Maree (9/5): -
- Kim (6/5): Parking was a big thing for us. We were only there four days but I paid in excess of $150 in parking - Perfect location. Staff were all fabulous Nowhere to park. So if you’re driving be prepared to pay for parking. You can only park on street for 5 minutes intervals. Can park on street after 6 for the night but you will drive around the block quiet a few times before you get a park.

- Jennifer (10/5): - Such a pleasant one night stopover in Hobart CBD, comfortable room especially the beds and efficient and friendly staff
- Paul (9/5): -
- David (10/5): -
- Sutherland (10/5): Fabulous. Close to downtown and the excellent Saturday Salamanca market / Harbor. - Better signage identifying front desk location. Help for old people with heavy bags up & down stairs.
- Tania (8/5): Great location, clean and good value for money. - Great location. Close to all amenities. Close to places to eat and the waterfront. Despite being over a pub, it was really quiet. The staff were friendly and relaxed, bit of a pub vibe going on there! The hotel looks a bit old.
- Tania (7/5): Good clean accommodation in central location. Looks a bit old and drab. - Great location, clean and comfortable Looks a bit old. Couldn’t open windows.
- Sally (8/5): We had a pleasant stay and very central to transport and the wharf - Comfortable bed and clean facilities The steps
- Philip Tibbs (7/5): - Rooms adequate but not luxurious. No lift and key collected from gaming den - which worked.
- Rosmairi (2/5): We will not be staying there again. - We were greeted by a lovely staff member on arrival who was helpful. Room servicing neglected to provide clean cups, glasses and cutlery on first day of service. They did not vacuum crumbs on carpet. Second service they only replaced one towel and carpet still not vacuumed.
Room was extremely small and tightly furnished.. The height of the desk was not at a usable height.
The shower was extremely small and not suited to normal size people it was also damaged/chipped on the ceramic base. It could easily have been repaired. As it was not repaired, it is therefore a breeding spot for bacteria.
When we asked to extend the stay one more night, the staff member quoted a higher rate than we had been paying per night and would not match the rate that we had received on check in. We then found a room close by at another property that was much more comfortable, clean and modern for two further nights at $30 per night less than quoted by the Central Hotel.

- Loadwick (8/5): Good value and pretty comfortable! - Convenient location. Helpful staff especially Sharon. I would have liked fresh towels the second day.
- Sam (8/5): Good Stay on a Budget - Decent stay for budget accommodation. Great location. The bathroom was clean and modern. A/C unit didn't work very well.
- greg (7/5): No problems - Location Nothing
- josie (5/5): Still pleasant - The location was noisy I left my chargeable electric toothbrush chord behind and called about it and said they would call me back but didn't
Customer service I wasn't too happy about
- Jean-Luc (10/5): Bien passé. - Bien situé. Calme. Manque de modernité.
- Wendy (9/5): -
- Delinda (9/5): - Central location. Clean comfortable beds. Price, good value for money.
- Berry (10/5): - Very comfortable. Good meal. Great having cabs at front door. Only issue no lift & steep stairs to rooms.

- Timothy (9/5): - Very reasonable- value for money, clean and central.
- Anne (6/5): Convenient basic hotel - Convenient location to access city shops and the waterfront. Dinner service, although advertised I was told it was not available. Bathroom had an unpleasant smell from the drain. Noise from other rooms carried along the corridor, plus loud banging noises from rooms. Noisy early in morning from street activities, needs double glazed windows.
- Jane E (7/5): - great location, very central No parking, check in was not good, extremely slow, communication re bookings and booking process was lost on the 2 staff members who were there.
- Steffanie (6/5): Great location but not the best place to actually sleep. - The location was fantastic right near Elizabeth square. Staff were willing to provide extra toiletries/shampoo when asked. Bar closes at 9pm so nice and early for guests above. Very old and dated rooms, when booking was advertised a front room but ended up with a view of the other rooms (internal room). Lots of unusual loud banging happening at around 4am then again at 6/6:30am. Rooms were tidy but far from clean. They advertise rooms being serviced daily but unfortunately on both occasions that I did not put out do not disturb my bed was not made just left how I had pulled it up.

- Jan (9/5): Great thanks. - Location was great. The room was spacious enough and well set out. Very comfortable. Just a maintenance issue that the toilet was continually running and needed to be fixed.

- penny (9/5): very good - good spot, so central, wonderful friendly staff
- Kate (10/5): Good place to base yourself to explore Hobart. - Clean and comfortable

- Geoffrey (8/5): - The location is very central and close to lots of shops, cafes and restaurants. We stayed in a queen room and both the room and bathroom are very spacious and clean. It was also very quiet as the room was at the back. Plenty of hangers and wine glasses were much appreciated. We were able to leave our luggage behind the bar both on arrival and departure which we also appreciated. The staff are friendly and helpful.
- Jodie (7/5): -
- Ali (9/5): -
- Lee (10/5): - Great location and close to parking No meals on week days
- Andrew (5/5): Centrally located budget accommodation, ideal as a springboard to explore Hobart for a day or two, or as a tour pick up - Excellent central location, clean and functional. Comfortable bed and clean bathroom and shower. Ideal for a short stay when you are not spending much time in the room. These are not really dislikes, but it is budget accommodation as depicted by the 3 star rating. There is a pub downstairs which is almost entirely a gaming room with pokies and has live music on Friday and Saturday nights, so if that will bother some people, avoid these days.
It wasn’t cheap, however, I went in busy season so that would probably explain that.
- Rebecca (8/5): Overall it was great, would stay again. - Conveniently located and great, spacious room Access was difficult after hours, no lift. Reception wasn’t open when we left at 8am.
- Sandra (6/5): -
- Stewart (7/5): - Location is fabulous. Room was clean and reasonably well appointed. Access was easy. Check in area is grim!
- Leah (10/5): -
- raena (10/5): Great hotel at a great price - The pictures on booking.com don't do it justice. It was really comfortable and the location was great. It was spotlessly clean, the bed was comfy and the free laundry at the end of the corridor was very handy. A little bit of street noise in the morning but to be expected as it was so central, hence the name. Couldn't fault it. Nothing. Liked everything.
- Sally (10/5): - Price location' staff and the great room! No parking
- Jessica (9/5): - Great location, quiet at night. Exceeded expectations for budget.
- Andrea (9/5): Nice stay in Hobart - Location so central to everything. Nice pub downstairs. Can be noisy in the corridors in spurts. But this is minimal.
- Bronte (10/5): A comfortable, convenient stay - Super convenient location, rooms clean, good size and very comfortable. Fantastic value.
- Bailin (8/5): -
- Sylvia (7/5): Great location - Very central as the name suggests.
It is in the city centre and only minutes away from the wharf area. It was perfect for us to walk our luggage to meet our ship.
Staff were friendly.
Price reflected the style of room.
- Yit (7/5): Central location - Central location. Value for money. Room was clean. It is above a bar but the description was clear and it wasn't noisy during my stay. Check in process could be improved.
- monica blanca (8/5): Tiene su onda el lugar, y excelente ubicacion - La ubicación es un 10, y el lugar tiene su onda. Bien No es un hotel clásico, pero es especial
- Lincoln (8/5): Great value for money when all you’re after is a bed in a great location. - Fantastic location. Right in the heart of the city with great cafes, bars and food nearby.
- Jodie (7/5): Great - Very central to everything N/A
- Taylor (9/5): It was ok to what I needed. Bit expensive for me, a pensioner - Close to where I needed to go.
Didn't have breakfast
- Jason (7/5): Good stay - Location Dirty kettle
- Francisco (10/5): -
- david (9/5): Perfect for a few days in Hobart - Location great food
- SUNIL (8/5): - Location was in the heart of Hobart. There is no lift and hence you need to carry luggage’s up.
Rooms were clean and cozy.
- Danielle (7/5): - Quietness and there was a sociable smokers room with music, heating and sports tv
- Allyson (10/5): Good - Nice a clean and tidy and had own bathroom. Nothing
- Nurul (9/5): - Location!!! The best The stairs.. We are family of 4 with a baby stroller 😅
- Fritzie (8/5): -
- McFarlane (10/5): -
- Jamie Lin (9/5): Perfect location to stay in Hobart; friendly & helpful staff - great stay! - Unbeatable location - right in the very centre of the city, perfect for travelling to/from Hobart. A little bit noisy but still good enough given it's location.
- Possum (8/5): - Location was good, but parking an issue in the CBD, as there is no free parking like there is on the outskirts of the city. Some hotels do provide parking. However, the room was comfortable. There was some noise very early on a couple of mornings.
