Guest Reviews
- Keith (8/5): -
- Steve J. (9/5): - The breakfast was better than other places. The coffee was very good.
- Kitti (1/5): Bedbugs - Lake view My son seen 3 bedbugs in his bed and I caught one.
- Souder (1/5): Trap house - This building is in need of major repairs. When I walk into the lobby I was be greeted by a rank musty smell with a mild cigarette under note along with a completely empty front desk. I had to call on a grungy old telephone to get a random lady dressed in casual clothing to come down from her apartment to check me in. (Yes she lives there). When I go upstairs the smell intensifies, I notice all doors have a sketchy retrofit lock system with the lock cylinders punched out. As I enter my room I notice that the safety latch lock on the back of my door is completely broken, as if someone on a cocaine fueled crash out has violently busted down the door before. The mini fridge is rusting, there are plywood patches covering holes in the walls, crumbling corners, dirty stained bathtub, water damaged furniture falling apart as the bottom rots, dirty stained chair that I can only assume has been used for foul acts. I decide to go out and watch a movie with my family so we don't have to hang out in this place for longer than we have to (I'm 190$ into this hotel stay because of a DAMAGE DEPOSIT.... in a place like this? Really???) I come back around 8:30 to get my 3 and 5 year old to bed and am greeted by a smell of marijuana so thick and pungent that there is nearly a haze in the air. That was the last straw for me I grabbed our bags that hadn't even been unpacked yet and called down the resident desk lady on the old phone. I told her we would be leaving and staying somewhere else due to the conditions and smell of the building and that I wanted my money to be refunded. We left and found a new hotel for the night. I still have not received my damage deposit back which I'm assuming is just gone, I would not be surprised if they just pocket my money judging by the shady nature of the place. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody unless you need a good place to do your drugs.
- D. (9/5): - The whole place was nice. Ive stayed here before so I knew what to expect. Clean room, minimal noise, basic morning breakfast. The shower head was like little needles, but that's about all. Everything else was just fine.
- Jennifer (10/5): -
- Amy (1/5): - Nothing THE ROOM STUNK LIKE FISH!!! AND VERY UNCOMFORTABLE
- Elijah (7/5): -
- Patricia (10/5): - The staff of Ray and Mandy were OUTSTANDING and both were concerned that we had all we needed!
- Susan (1/5): Owners/Managers of their place lie - The management here lies.
- Barbe (7/5): It was ok for such a low rate. - Food was ok. They didn't keep it stocked very well. The guy working at the front desk had terrible body odor.
- Michelle (8/5): Loved it - The owners are super friendly and accomodating There were some days that the continental breakfast was not set up
- Kenneth (9/5): Ray was very friendly along his staff very accommodating - Staff was very friendly. Ray answered all my questions. Pacifically location on how to enter the property
- Kim (10/5): Very convenient, nice place to stay! - Staff very friendly, professional & polite
- Sandra (5/5): - Location to family No working ice machine, no daily maid service, mediocre breakfast.
- abraham (8/5): -
- Karen Lorena (3/5): - Nada La relación calidad-precio es pésima, un motel que la verdad parecía muy peligroso, las instalaciones no estaban en buen estado, mucho olor a cigarrillo, las habitaciones no cumplían con las expectativas. No volvería
- Penny (7/5): - They were to have a bottom floor room for me but did not and had to climb stairs as no elevator. 12 stairs for a handicap is not right and you specifically said they honored my request no elevator and was promised a bottom floor room to no avail.
- Timothy (10/5): - It was a nice and quiet stay really enjoyed our time
- kelli (6/5): - Front desk man was great!! Very responsive.
Coffee/breakfast set up was convenient & nice for a motel.
Cons:
Bathroom door did not completely close.
TV's sound would continuously go loud then low - a bit annoying. To be fair we didn't ask the front desk to fix it. We had no time for this.
- Debra (1/5): - The rooms were dirty & 1 channel on tv because remote didn't work. Very noisy all night.
- William (10/5): Great stay. I'll stay there again for sure. - The desk guy was really nice. The room was very clean. Comfortable beds and quit sleeping conditions. I thought it would be packed because the parking lot was full, but I didn't really hear any other guests. Great stay. The ice machine was broken but the desk clerk got us ice from in back. There was a shelter out back that looked like a bunch of people had partied in without cleaning up, but that was ok because we didn't need to use that space.
- Robert (4/5): - No front desk attendant; had to call on phone. Room smelled like bleach. Room carpet felt wet the whole stay. General overall griminess. Sheets didn’t fit the bed properly. Even though a Super 8, we went ahead with the booking because of the Wyndham name. Definitely not worthy of the Wyndham name.
- Claudia (8/5): - Convenience
- Kathy (10/5): Great value. Newly remodeled. Great staff - Staff super friendly Small lobby
- Suzanne (7/5): - Location was good They ran out of coffee, there was only 1 ice machine that was broken, 1 worker that had to do everything by herself for several days. She was very friendly and was doing the best she could do! The owners should be ashamed of themselves.
- Jon (5/5): Lack of integrity - The bed was comfortable Standing water in the tub with constant drip was sub par at best. After realizing a bag was left behind, I called to let them know that I would return to get it. When I returned they said there was no bag to be found.
- Kristin (1/5): -
- Leonard (10/5): - Price.
- Laura (3/5): Poor - Location Toilet wobbly and sheets did not fit and kept coming off
- Reyna (2/5): Very disappointing. - Only the location and one staff lady that was there our 2nd day. Very rundown, wasn’t clean-we had a tick on one of our pillows when we walked in, our toilet had been used and not flushed, and our room was never restocked with towels, toilet paper or Kleenex unless we asked. Had a musty smell. Ice machine did not work.
- Cheryl (5/5): Passable - The room wasn't cleaned well. There were dirty towels left in the bathroom.
- Matthew (6/5): - For the price not a very nice place..
- Sara (10/5): - Nice quiet property. Helpful front desk staff and very kind. Clean and comfortable. My only concern was the ice machine wasn't working.
- Benjamin (6/5): - Beds were not clean had to get sheets and change them ourselves
- Vicki (5/5): Passable - Air conditioning not working well so it was very hot. And smelled musty.
- Christina (3/5): Poor -
- Karen (8/5): - No frills, basic hotel
- Michael (10/5): - Starting with a very professional and friendly check-in to a totally pleasant accessible room (104), my wife and I found our stay an enjoyable departure from our regular Super 8 stays. The property is smaller than most, but affords a view of a lake from our window across a wide park-like area, with a covered cookout area that I assume is for guests. The town, Chisago City, Minnesota, has some of the friendliest and courteous citizens we have ever experienced. It is an outdoor and lake destination for sports and a variety of lake recreation. I recommend it for value and price point.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Not worth the price under circumstances - AC didnt work properly, floors were filthy, no soaps in dispensers, blow dryer was broken, smoke smell at night that did not come from hallway, and TV would freeze up. Hallways were disgusting. Language barrier with staff. Breakfast was good! Easy check out!
- Cindy (10/5): - Every member of the staff was helpful, authentically friendly and attentive. I look forward to staying again...
It is a nice place for the cost and conveniently located.
- Cheryl (6/5): Pleasant - Beds were comfortable. Easy access Shower did not work. No water for bath either. Had to use sink to freshen up
- Ryan (2/5): - Lo
- Robert F (6/5): - Had contractors staying at the property hard to park as all there trucks we taking up the spaces tearing the planters apart and grass area plus Saturday night 2am - 3 am bunch coming in the place loud and drunk.
- Barry (8/5): Very good -
- Carlos8790 (10/5): Wholesome people - We stopped at this hotel for just a couple of hours to catch some rest during a long ride, and it was exactly what we needed. As bikers, comfort, convenience, and quick check-in are everything when you're on the road—nd this place delivered. The staff didn’t make a fuss about our short stay and were super understanding of our situation.Big thumbs up for the safe parking area. We felt confident leaving our bikes while we rested.
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional -
- kristindJ1990DA (10/5): Safe Place - Shout out to Ray the manager here at super 8 in chisago city MN. He let me come here while I was robbed at my old apartment. He has a Huge Heart and knows my story about the fire I was in!! He has been so sweet to me and helping me with resources. He has made my stay here so safe and I wanna thank him for that!! Ray your the best!!!

- Barbara (2/5): Very poor - There were holes all over the room. No trash can in the room and the tv didn’t work properly.
- Laurie (4/5): - Dirty bathroom, dirty towels, exposed electrical outlets, missing safety bar on door, desk chair held together with duct tape, wonky HVAC unit, place smelled like weed, had to ring for reception desk.
- Barbara (7/5): Good - Clean, quiet No garbage can in room . Hallway had an odor of cigarette smoke/ pot.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Very outdated and not clean. Went to breakfast at 7 and no plates or cups. Waffle mix was gone and no syrup. Coffee was good.
- Michelle (4/5): Disappointing -
- Stephanie (2/5): - There was blood pn the ac unit. Sand and hair in jet tub. Jetted tub didnt wirk. No sound on the tv wouldnt work. Bed not made. Gross nasfy stains on the chairs. Looked like had been usrd for a sex party then left uncleaned. Bmy husband and i left after out dinner out. We wouldnt stay there. Im very unhappy and took pocture
- Tammy (1/5): Bad - Convenient location, inexpensive Room wasn't clean, had to wipe down furniture, tub dripping w/water pooled, extra lock on door broken/missing a part, mini fridge not cold & dirty inside & our, didn't bother checking inside microwave but outside also gross & dirty. Something that looked like poop on bath wall.
- Miranda (4/5): - The room had a dirty tub, and dirt all around the room. Fridge didn’t work. Breakfast didn’t have all the options that are offered.
- Courtney (1/5): 👎🏻 - It was close to where we needed to be. The guy at the front was nice but he said he was new and didn’t know what he was doing. He said the owners won’t be back until February. My husband used to work for pest control so we always check for bed bugs on the beds. The mattresses were stained and dirty. The drawers to the dresser were dirty. The microwave and fridge were sticky. The bathroom was dirty. Lady bugs were everywhere (dead and alive). It smelt dirty in the hotel. We were running late to a funeral visitation and had just drove 26 hours straight from Florida. So we took showers and left with our stuff. When we got back we checked out that same day.
- Lew (2/5): - Dirty room, debris on the floor in bathroom like it wasn't swept. Sink wasn't clean and faucet had smudges all over it like it wasn't cleaned properly. No waste basket in our room. Door knob to bathroom was loose and starting to fall out of door. Faucet was loose as well. Towel rail falling out of wall and did fall off twice while putting towel back on. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash dispensers in shower were empty. We were the first ones to breakfast at 6:30- it wasn't stocked at all. We took the only 3 plates and forks that were there and couldn't find anymore for our party of 5, nor was there anyone to ask. The coffee was like tar, the juice machine didn't work, the waffle batter produced a bitter waffle (didn't know waffles could taste bitter) because I'm sure the batter was old and expired. We ended up going elsewhere for breakfast. Basically, not much to brag home about. Find a nicer hotel that staffs appropriately, cleans, up keeps, and fully stocks what you are paying for.
- Justin (2/5): - This is the most disgustingly horrifying hotel I’ve ever laid eyes on. The photos are adorable and make it look like a super cute boutique hotel. It’s anything but. If I hadn’t been on the road for 12 hours, I would have left.
- F7162XZjohnz (10/5): Excellent place for relaxing - The staff are friendly and bed was comfy.i also love that it is quiet and many places to eat nearby.also a us Bank branch across the street for the people who bank with them.i will use this as my go to location when I have days off from work.i highly recommend this place is better than some of the other motels in the area.prices were much better as well.
- Barbara (10/5): - Awesome price! Comfortable bed!
- Song (8/5): Very good -
- 326montanac (8/5): Clean and Relaxing - Had a good solo stay experience! The hotel was spotless, with a average welcoming vibe and attentive staff. Room amenities were excellent, yes bathtub and the peaceful atmosphere made it perfect for unwinding. So yes, this place is recommended!
- 632kanyap (10/5): Comfortable Stay, Great Value - Arriving late at night, we were greeted with exceptional hospitality. A local recommendation brought us here, and it didn’t disappoint. The rooms were spotless, the service prompt, and the price fair. We’ll definitely choose this place again if we’re in the area!
- minolat932 (10/5): Nice for family stay - The room was quite good. Our kids were also happy with in room bathtub. The cost for our two days stay was quite affordable. The bad sheet of our room was likely old but it was well washed. The staff were also greeted very well. So overall experience of us was good.
- Matthew (2/5): - Dirty unclean unprofessional
- Sassha (2/5): - The reviews and pictures were great so we booked this place for 2 nights but left after 8 hours. We didnt feel threatened but the security latch was inoperable and the lock on the door had been altered. The room was not clean and neither was the office chair or fridge. We kept our luggage in the bath tub. The shower bar was falling down with the exhaust fan dangling from the ceiling. Willingly forfeited the money from the second night reservation and went somewhere else.
- 123semc (10/5): Good option for stay - It was quite good. Everything, including cleanliness, the rooms, and the staff, was great. One thing to mention is that at night, someone was playing loud music near our room, which was a bit disruptive. I called the manager, and he took care of the issue right away. Overall, I’d recommend it.
- Melissa (6/5): - I will start with the positives. The staff was friendly at check in, and helping us when we could not find the TV remote. The hotel was easy to find, and close to gas stations, and the hwy. The negatives, the room desperately needed a deep clean. Dust was caked on in places, and dead bugs in the light fixture. Fresh paint that matches the walls would help to liven up the room. The property itself needs improvement as well. If you need a place to just sleep, this is it. But definitely would be a beauty with just a few simple touches.
- Guide46849953608 (4/5): Decent overall hotel, read review for why 2 star - I knocked off 3 stars on this hotel because the manager had the audacity to wake me up and threaten to kick me off the property if I didn't turn off my music. I have tinnitis and I play an instrumental or thunderstorm background music as I go to sleep to help me focus on something other than the constant tone I hear. Well last night I had an acoustic guitar playing a mellow sleep set of tunes at about 70% of the volume of a portable speaker.
The manager comes knocking on the door loudly to wake me up and says I have to turn it off or leave the property. I explained to him I need the music to sleep and he said no music at night. Ok I get it if I was blaring music you could hear from the 2nd floor down to the lobby. But it wasn't. It was very mellow and soft. I told him I would turn it down and he insisted I turn it off. I told him no, closed the door and turned it down more to where I could just barely hear it. Fortunately it went no further than that and since I was already half asleep it was enough to fall back asleep even though much quieter than I usually need.
What I think it is is that somehow the floors are very thing and let sound through as I was staying in the room directly above the office and perhaps their apartment and they could hear it. I don't know. This morning I turned my spearker on full volume and walked outside my door. While you could hear the guitar music it was by no means blasting through it overly loud. I then turned it down to where I had it and you could just barely hear it through the door. So I have no idea what his problem was.
That being said I will say that the room was adequate and clean. I could smell the cleaner used in the bathroom which smelled faintly like bleach which I approve of. Let's me know they really cleaned it. They use bulk containers for their soap in the shower and a hand soap and lotion on the sink. The lotion was basically empty when I tried to use some for a patch of dry skin that cropped up as I left my lotion in my truck which is in a repair shop. The bed was comfortable as well as the pillows. Overall the room was good for the price paid.
The free breakfast is carb loaded which for someone like me with diabetes isn't good. The only thing they really had that I should eat was some frozen egg flats and sausages that you need to microwave. So not fresh but better than nothing. They have a waffle maker, some instant oatmeal packages, some donuts, egg muffins, bread for toast, butter, some jelly/peanut butter, juice in a container, and whole milk to drink or use with cereal that was stale it was so old. While I shouldn't eat raisin bran I did do a small bowl and the raisins were hard like rocks which tells me the cereal was old.
The other thing I will say is the managers are never at their front office. They have a sign posted to use a phone on the wall to call them for any needs. This isn't exactly a big hotel or huge tourist destination so it probably works for the situation. They were fairly quick to come check me in however once I called and they did answer quickly.
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Monique (2/5): - I checked in and found our room to be dirty. Surfaces had not been cleaned after the previous guests and many areas had not been dusted or cleaned in a long time. The bed sheets were inside out and there was hair on the counters. I asked for a refund and was not given one nor was I offered a different room. Very disappointed.
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Elliott (6/5): - The staff was very helpful but booked king suite type room but heater was broken so staff quickly got me moved to regular room as heat is more important than size of room. Quick and close and convenient for Chisago city other wise stay in Hinkley Casino much nicer and cheaper.
- 833teodorb (10/5): Very Bonito 💖 - Everything Is Good And Very Professional Service And Very Clean And You're Welcome And Very Nice 👍 And I Will Go Back Again 😊 So Far So Good 💯😊 I Was Very Happy To Be There For One Night Sleep 😴😪 Amigo 😘 God Bless Everyone Amen 😘🙏 Jesus Christ Is Coming Back Soon Amigo Be Ready 🙏
- Larisa (10/5): Great Town! Nice Vintage Vibe - - Nice friendly staff and great price!
- GCPOscar (8/5): Supr 8 Chisago City - Quite simply -- a good, clean hotel. Basic -- but comfy. Product meets the price in terms of value and perks. Staff is helpful and friendly. Have stayed here for the past 10 years and I will stay here again. Not a luxury hotel by any means -- but CLEAN and comfy.
- Melissa (1/5): slumb hotel you get what you pay for - location how rude the staff was.And how they there were about 10 Mexican guys drinking and playing loud music in parking lot til 2 am
- paul (6/5): - Quite when i was there, comfy bed
- Kimberly (6/5): - Property is older but maintained. Negatives were my room appeared to have missed the vacuum & the breakfast items were minimal & the milk in the cooler was warm.
- Diane (10/5): - the property is right in town and you could walk anywhere
- trepzij (10/5): Budget friendly stay - I just came to MN in late night and found this place to stay. Bytheway it was good experience. All things sat on their place in room. Room was clean and felt good fragrance while entering the room. And I think the rates are affordable so I recommended to travelers.
- krizthh97 (10/5): Quite good experience. - Hey, I just stayed here a month ago. It was quite good experience. The check in process was done very fast as I tired. The staff of hotel was very good and humble. Smoking is not allowed in hotel was minus point for me but it's good about all people.
- Michael (4/5): - If this motel has the only room available, go to another town or stay home
- Sybrant (1/5): Horrifying - Nothing $30 per night pet fee in addition to over-charged room. My girl is a documented emotional support dog and most hotels waive this fee. (Just looked at the rates, averaging $43 a night when I paid over $900 for four nights plus the pet fee.) In addition, hotel was dirty and need of repair. Flies were abundant in my room. A large group of men were eating, drinking beer, and playing music at a table set up next to the parking lot every night I stayed. It was intimidating to park and enter the hotel. The sound on the TV did not work EVERY time I turned it on. The cable had to be unplugged and plugged back in. After two visits from the hotel clerk, I just did it myself for the rest of my stay. Hotel clerk was rude and apparently upset I booked through booking.com. He told me he didn't need to give me the room and "good luck getting my money back."
- Barry (7/5): Good -
- Ann (8/5): - All the desk staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. The only negative about our stay was that our room had a window facing the freeway and it was noisy.
- Edith (6/5): Clean room with no frills - The rooms were clean The carpets were very stained. The hand railing on the stairwell was broken. Needs repairs.
- Bowie (5/5): Passable -
- Benjamin (2/5): - We ended up not staying the night! The room had a terrible smell to it! The bathroom door did not close all the way! The beds were very broken down.
- Golarte (2/5): Very poor -
- ALIYOU (6/5): - Good
- Terri (7/5): Good - Close to our race location
- Ruthsc96 (10/5): Good option for stayn - Actually I came in Chisago with my friends. Wifi is little bit slower but it was not a main thing. Here every thing was good and fine. Room was clean and comfort. Hotel staff was also good. Also it didn't affect on my pocket because it's cheapest price and budget friendly.
- Davidcool96 (10/5): Good option for budget stay - We had came in this city for family function, we choose this hotel and it's great family stay here! The hotel was clean, and the staff was accommodating. All that, and it was easy on the wallet too. Definitely a top choice for budget-conscious families. We’ll be back!
- Joyce (8/5): - It was clean and the staff was exceptional however someone set their car alarm off at about 3am and again about 4 am. Right outside our window ( not much the staff can do about that.) I also prefer tile or hardwood floors, carpet never feels clean to us. Just a preference.
- Gretchen9626 (10/5): Good and clean - Came to MN for a weightlifting championship, and the restaurant recommended this hotel. It was a great experience! The rooms were super clean, and the prices were budget-friendly. I’ll definitely stay here again if I'm in the area. Recommended!
- Geraldine (6/5): - Room wasn't ready when we arrived for 3:00 check in. Had to wait 20 minutes.
- Susan (7/5): Good - Ease of access No soap or shampoo in the shower. Breakfast area was dirty.
- Rebeccamini27 (10/5): In room bathtub was good enough - Great budget-friendly stay with friends! The rooms were clean, the staff was incredibly friendly, and the in room bathtub was perfect for relaxing. A perfect spot for a budget friendly traveler, getaway without breaking the bank balance. Definitely coming back!
