sheila bax (10/5): Elegent, Homely and Comfortable ...a wonderful stay - The hotel is both beautiful and very tastefully furnished and decorated . Very comfortable indeed. The complimentary breakfast was delicious , plenty of fresh fruit , cerals and assorted breads for toast , ham and cheese and a good gluten free selection. A coffee machine to help yourself at any time and a microwave if you are bringing any food in . Highly recommended. N/A

Jacqueline (10/5): Fantastic. - Absolutely loved the heritage authenticity of the building and the in-house heritage tour. Keep more heritage buildings original and used! Top work. Breakfast was very old worldy with quality ingredients. Great to meet the other guests as well - very fitting.
Lauren (10/5): Beautiful Inn. A must see. - Absolutely beautiful location, inside and out. So thankful to have found this. The grounds are incredible to spend time wandering and our room well equipped for us and very spacious. The continental breakfast was simple but more then enough with many choices and set in the sun room was a lovely location to eat in. Great communication from staff prior to, didn't really see any staff whilst there but didn't matter as everything was communicated prior to and all straighforward. Definitely Hope to be back next time we head back down that way. Not a didn't like as such, just a heads up; To make your stay easier, Pack lightly as its a bit of a walk from car through gravel carpark down to inn then many stairs up to room, all of which is more then fine and this all just added to the Inn experince. But I was thankful I had one tiny Suitcase we shared.

Clare (8/5): Do not miss the cellar!! - It’s a genuinely historic building. We had a walk through in the morning as we arrived late (to crystal clear texted instructions, which were awesome!) If you can’t cope with any sound at night you might not like the train line - we thought it was romantic!

Stephanie (9/5): Beautiful historic homestead in a lovely garden setting - A beautiful old homestead in a lovely garden space. We were greeted at the door by two sweet puppies. Staff were equally as friendly. We had a wonderful room at the top of the house, looking out over the garden on three sides. We were very comfortable indeed. Breakfast was ‘help yourself’ but there were gluten free options readily available and it was all delicious. I noticed every freight train going past but my partner slept through them all!

Len (10/5): - A genuinely historic Australian inn, wonderfully renovated/restored and intriguing, looked like the perfact place to have a wedding, though sadly 22 years too late for us :) We stayed in a Historic suite, and it was beautifully done, comfortable and well appointed. Breakfast was pretty basic, having been on the continent a number of times it was a little disappointing. Other than that there was very little a harsh critic could complain about

Alexandra (2/5): Dog friendly hotel stop off on way to Canberra. Trains continuous throughout the night, not very restful. - Beautiful property with greens. Dog friendly. The bed was hard, and trains coming by every 20-30 minutes all through the night. Didn’t get any sleep. Also no blinds on the windows above the door so light streaming in through the night from the hallway lights.

Lindsay55 (9/5): Thanks for allowing a dog into your beautiful inn. Luxury on the road! - Great expanded continental breakfast, lots of choices, raspberries, mango blueberries blackberries, cereals, yoghurt, cheese, boiled eggs, ham, breads to toast, hot cross buns on Good Friday..... beautiful grounds and new apartments splendiferous in keeping with heritage building. A beautiful retreat that feels like a holiday even if only a one night stopover with my setter on way to Sydney show. Have stayed here a number of times and it has always been lovely. Even the train noises in the night are not disruptive but remind one of the sensible use of goods transport.

Patricia (9/5): Was a wonderful place to stop in on a long commute. - The location was perfect. We were able to bring our little dog. The breakfast was very much appreciated. Lots of choices including healthy options, fruit, yoghurt etc.
Michele (7/5): Great overnight stay for us traveling with our dog - A great historic venue, our accommodation was relatively modern, it seemed to have been upgraded recently. The rooms very spacious and well equipped, the bed and pillows were comfortable and the sheets crisp and fresh. Breakfast was a rare treat and great choice. The room was supposed to be non smoking as we don’t and have never smoked but my sensitive nose smelt the room had been smoked in recently 😖
Jan (9/5): Fabulous! Will be back. - The building breathes history which is what I loved. The old inn, the gardens and the decor made my stay particularly memorable. It was heartening to know that in the future I can stay with my pet poodle. 'Pet friendly" accommodation with 'class' is a rare find.

Martina (9/5): Exactly what I was looking for. - Unique building and room. Loved the continental breakfast and the chat with the owner. Close to everything but far enough away to be peaceful and give a feeling of "retreat". Perhaps a little pricy for the size and facilities on offer.
Joanne (9/5): A characterful & comfortable stay. We would book again. - A spacious, clean & comfortable suite (7). Buffet style breakfast was an excellent bonus. The historic property is very interesting as well as a great place to stay. Currently roadworks on the street in front make access a llttle more difficult, likely very difficult in the dark, however the property was worth the effort. It’s a drive to most eateries; but we understood this before we arrived.

Tim (10/5): Fantastic. - Electric charger for our car. Interesting spot … great breakfast. We also loved exploring the place and learning its history … a must for anyone travelling to see the eared. Loved it. Nothing … loved it even though the road was all under construction we still got through. A bit of additional signage to get around that construction would have been handy but nothing their fault

Jude (9/5): Our stay was an overnighter, as we were passing through on our way to Melbourne. - The accomodation looked like it was newly renovated and it was very clean, comfortable and spacious. We especially liked the balcony with this unit and the wine glasses supplied were appreciated. Our dog found it very comfortable also and enjoyed landscaped surrounding especially the ducks. The main door entry was quite noisy if left to shut on its own and audible from inside our unit. There were a few people staying in the complex so there was a bit slamming noise. The bathroom did not have a full glass shower screen for accessible reasons, so a lot of water splashes onto the floor making it a little slippery. A couple of extra foot towels would be handy for this.

Luise (3/5): Beautiful gardens but a disappointing experience overall. - The hotel is in a lovely historic building and the gardens are very well-maintained and quite lovely. It is obviously mainly a wedding venue and the location is definitely photogenic. Not so good for individual guests, however! The 'continental' breakfast provided is adequate, and the coffee machine was welcome. Only whole milk provided though, so if you were lactose intolerant you would be out of luck! The property is rather shabby - peeling strips of wallpaper in the dining area, for example. The rooms (in the old building) are not air-conditioned, and the provision of a totally inadequate portable air conditioner that roared like an express train did not really cool the room on a humid night. The bed is quite hard and the sheets, though very clean, were scratchy. The shower is a total liability - we followed the instructions exactly as per the notice on the wall but the water is alternately scalding and freezing. We actually thought it was quite dangerous, especially for children. The staff member there when we checked in was not very welcoming, and it appears there are no staff present overnight and none the next morning when we checked out at 10.00am - had anyone been friendly or helpful it would have gone a long way to balance the other negative aspects Altogether very disappointing.
Narelle (8/5): Charming historical house with pleasant dining, breakfast room. - Ambience, garden setting, history info, proximity to town, breakfast had plentiful food and variety. Eggs were too soft on the second morning. Directions given by text and verbally did not include vital info that there was a major detour to enter the property because of extensive road works. The instructions in text message didnt provide enough info eg- "go through glass doors". But finding the glass doors??? Please add " on the south side you will find the glass doors". Although dog friendly we couldnt find a bin to put poo bags.

There was a wedding on which we were warned about but this meant the staff were very focused on that and information and instructions to find our room were lacking. Generally the signage was inadequate and poor.

Michelle (10/5): A very enjoyable stay at an interesting and friendly property. - Everything was wonderful! The property is beautiful and beautifully maintained inside and out. The rooms were interesting, spacious and very comfortable with everything we needed on hand. The property itself is interesting with tasteful and appropriate decor and acknowledgements to its history. There are plenty of spaces to relax, depending on whether you are alone or any kind of group. Breakfast was simple but plentiful. The staff couldn't have been more helpful when we visited and took time to talk about the reason for our visit and local restaurants to try. And it looks like a beautiful wedding venue! Nothing!

Brittany (10/5): Idyllic location, charming room and lovely staff. - The site is beautiful! The gardens were outstanding and so lovely in spring. Staff were helpful and friendly. Whole inn is pet friendly and the rooms overlooking the gardens were so convenient for taking my pup out for a walk. Breakfast had a good variety, was fresh, plentiful and delicious. Coffee machine was excellent, as was the room’s pod machine. Bed was very comfortable and all the facilities were clean and well presented. Overall a lovely stay, with a really social and friendly atmosphere. There was some cigarette smoke that drifted in from the veranda area, but only for a portion of the time.
Ivan (6/5): More attention to comfort and renewal of worn-out items in the main house and character in the rooms - The historic house and grounds and breakfast was fine. Liked having the spaces in the house by a fireplace and the pool table. The rubber tips of the pool queues were very old so that it felt like hitting the pool balls with wood. It was a nice idea to have records and a record player but the needle on the record player was disastrously worn making the records unlistenable so it made that pointless. The house was quite cold and it seemed like you could start a fire in the fireplace yourself (there was nothing to say you could or shouldn't) or turn on a heater in the pool room but it would have been nice if the house was heated up a bit by staff for guest comfort. When I booked I had thought the guest rooms were in the house but they were not and, while comfortable and clean and warm (which is important) they lacked any character. I did not opt for the cheapest room. And a bar would have been a great addition.

Very picturesque with autumn leaves on the trees. Stunning place as a wedding venue. We stayed in the original coachman's quarters which was interesting. There were comfy lounge rooms and heating as well as a pool table. Can't say there was anything I didn't like but the shower in the original quarters was a bit too small.
