Sepsep4 (2/5): After many stays, this was our last. - I’ve stayed here many times and it is usually quite good for the price. However, it is under new management team and not a good experience. In addition to the reservation glitches and housekeeping issues, there’s also something going on with the walls — there’s big black shadows of dripping marks seeping through the paint of the exterior walls.
JrDoyley (8/5): Cute, but not quiet - Don't let the outside appearance fool you; the rooms here are very nice—heated bathroom floors, comfortable beds, and good enough space. The shower heads are good, and the closet space is ample. The weakness would be the thin walls where you can hear everything in the next room... and I mean everything. The hotel has a couple of nice fire pits, a game room, and a community space to watch sports. The atmosphere is cozy, which is what I like considering the surroundings in the mountains. It's also walkable to restaurants and shopping. Overall, I'd stay here again. 200 Main is actually affordable compared to their sister properties, which really helps.
sxmlover8 (10/5): 200 Main - Great Hotel and Service - Wife and I spent a night here last week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the overall Highlands area vibe. We had a King Porch Fireplace room in the newer section, that also included a nice balcony, with two chairs for sitting and enjoying the outdoors. Room was very spacious with a comfortable King bed, seating area, beautiful stone fireplace, and a large wall mounted TV over the gas fireplace. In addition the large bathroom had a walk in shower,and a great rainfall shower head, and the floors were heated. Very upscale feeling which my wife loved! Last but not least, the staff we encountered were all very nice folks and extremely accommodating throughout our stay. I am speaking of Melanie, Maddie and especially Juwanna. When Juwanna realized after checking us in that we did not have a vehicle, she personally transported both our suitcases, while escorting us to our second floor room. Now that is SERVICE! In short, we had a great time and plan to return to both 200 Main and the Highlands area in 2026.
AT-Donna (10/5): Beautiful Property - My son gave us an Old Edwards gift card and we booked a stay at 200Main. We had such a lovely experience with excellent service. The room was beautiful with a comfortable bed and nice shower. The grounds were well manicured with walking paths and 2 fire pits. We enjoyed our stay.
V4096WKlewism (2/5): RESERVATION NIGHTMARE - Terrible experience from the beginning with reservation. We are 2 adult men who work and travel together. The reservation was made in one person's name for 2 ADULTS for a room with 2 BEDS. The confirmation came back as MR AND MRS. We were absolutely insulted that the assumption was made. At the hotel we asked for an apology and wanted to know why the mistake was made. I asked for a substantial discount but was only given free breakfast and a bottle of wine. And the breakfast was not as good as Chick Fil A for a lot less money. I heard back from the management after we got home. She implied that maybe a button was pushed on the reservation process that activated the MR and MRS. I went back and looked at the process; there was no button to push for that option. The room itself was not worth the $205 we paid. We are not planning to go back there again and would not recommend it.

Older style hotel where you have to carry your luggage up stairs if your room is on second floor. I gave it a one star rating because of its cancellation policy. Be sure to review the cancellation policy at the bottom of online signup link before booking.
700irat (8/5): Quiet ok hotel - Nice place. Nothing special, but pleasant. Quiet, no noisy children. Biggest problem was the dresser. The top full sized drawer was nearly impossible to move, so we didn’t use it. Another drawer did work but was kind of funky. A place that charges this much shouldn’t have junky furniture
KSL455 (10/5): Great property and impeccable service. - Great property location and amenities! Truly the best customer service in the office and the cleaning staff was the best we've experienced in years. The fire pits on the property are truly a wonderful place to relax and visit with other travelers. The pool and hot tub have so much seating and a great atmosphere. I highly recommend the hotel... only drawback is the dressers and room furniture are old and not functional. Couldn't use drawers, and needed a desk somewhere with a chair! Not really enough places to plug in a phone or tablet to charge them, but at least the bed was very comfortable and the shower was very roomy!
leslieIBusino (10/5): Don’t miss staying here! - Excellent place to stay in the Highlands. Great location, beautiful property, and superbly decorated. We stayed in a room with a balcony and fireplace overlooking their park-like area with hammock, fire pits and picnic tables. The landscape is beautiful around the property and pool. Friendly staff and cleaning service of the room was prompt and very well done. Extremely pleased with our visit. We will be coming back to stay in the fall. The waterfalls and hikes are fantastic. We love the restaurants and shopping too!
J990EIjohannaw (10/5): Amazing! Can’t wait to come back! - Mother daughter trip and we couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to stay. The staff was amazing, went above and beyond for my five year old daughter and I. The king room with fireplace and balcony was spacious, clean and the bathroom was large with heated floors. The landscape was beautiful, the fire pits at night and game room were an added bonus. The icing on the cake was the outdoor heated pool. We are already planning our next trip. Highly recommend.
502rhondag (10/5): A wonderful experience! - What a wonderful hotel! Nicely appointed. Very nice rooms. Our bed was amazing! I rarely sleep all night. I slept like a baby! Heated tile floor in bathroom. Located right downtown! Emma, our front desk person, was so accommodating and sincerely wanted our stay to be perfect! I can’t say enough positive things about her! I highly recommend this hotel!
E5178TCsusanc (6/5): Meh - Might depend on which room you get. Old motel feel, size and parking. Great location to walk to everything. Nice sheets. Terrible sink/vanity configuration. Small room. Queen beds felt like they were really full beds. Very small bathroom and vanity/dressing area. Clean. Very thin walls so can hear everything from adjoining rooms at normal conversation level. Should have made bathtub just walk in shower with better shower spray. Wall air conditioner but worked okay. Most of staff was friendly.
davidcC1454BE (4/5): Beware of which room you reserve - They built two new buildings which have nice rooms (6500s and 6400s) but the other buildings are old. Our room, 6109, was terrible. Wall air conditioner, very small, tiny sink and bathroom. The guest staff was nice. They just need to update the remaining rooms. Additionally, When they say “pool service” they mean free towels by the pool, not drink service. :-)
airstream2016 (8/5): A great mountain stay - A very comfortable stay in the heart of Highlands. Efficient and friendly check in and very clean rooms. We had a deck overlooking main street, however, the room was very quiet with no troublesome road noise. Very convenient to walk to the shops on Main Street. Be sure to have breakfast at the Black Bear cafe just across the street.
amyburke1 (10/5): Great Inn + Great Price + Great Location - What a lovely stay at 200 Main. We have previously stayed at their sister property - Old Edwards Inn and was a little afraid that 200 Main would disappoint. While it is not as plush as OEI, it is still wonderfully appointed, has great staff and is in perfect proximity to everything you might want to visit in Highlands. We also still had access to everything you might want at the Old Edwards Inn! We stayed in a King Fireplace room and it was perfect for our visit as it was much colder than we expected so the fireplace was perfect! We look forward to returning!
EDW (10/5): Lovely hotel - We were attracted to staying in Highlands by seeing this hotel on TripAdvisor. We weren't disappointed. We had a King room with balcony - unfortunately the weather prevented us from making as much use of this as we would have liked. The toiletries were Molten Brown, which impressed us. Fresh coffee was available in reception in the morning.
nancyeZ3057TN (8/5): 200 Main - Heat was a problem the first night until we adjusted it. Would have liked to stay at the main part but it was full. Our breakfast was very good. Overall it was a good experience. Would have liked more information on New Year's Eve celebration.
yakamaniac (8/5): Exactly what I wanted! - I love the low key look of this motel. The room was perfect — it had a gas fireplace, roomy, nice porch for taking in the mountains, pretty chairs, perfect shower with a raindrop shower head, two lower controllable shower heads and a hand held, spotless housekeeping, thoughtfully placed, outdoor water bottle fillers. Only areas for improvements: ice machine location not in room or obvious, bed slightly harder than I prefer, would have enjoyed being able to boil water for our tea, irritated by front desk man who first tried to register me when I was registered already, asking for an unnecessary ID and didn’t listen to what I was looking for and sent us to a froufrou bar in a property also owned by the same company. The other time I asked a nice Armenian fellow sent us to the perfect lunch place after really listening.
Jericho72 (10/5): Wedding weekend - had a room on the 2nd floor (no elevators), balcony with rocking chairs, room was spotless came with a mini frig, bed was very comfy. Would have preferred a regular coffee pot instead of the expresso machine ( they had coffee in the lobby which was complimentary). 200 Main is located right in town. Breakfast place across the street (maybe lunch also) Brendan who was at the front desk is fantastic, so helpful and knowledgeable!! We had a problem with the tire on our truck, he was right there to offer assistance.
P5794TVdd (4/5): Dust bunnies and disorganization - Old Edwards Inn should be embarrassed to offer this property. We'd arranged early check-in via another Old Edwards property. Two hours later, we could have an upstairs room, but we needed downstairs for mobility reasons. Turning over a generic motel room should be a 10-15 minute operation. We ended up checking in 4 hours later. By chance, we happened to be parked in front of our room as it was readied (It's an old 1970's motel that's been renovated). Four people wandered in and out of our room. One fetched a Swiffer, another brought a vacuum. No one had a housekeeping cart. I was shocked to find a room with dust bunnies for $200/night. We won't be going back to 200 Main. Ever.
GAFamilyUNC (6/5): They tried ..... - We booked a last minute two night stay in the King Porch Fireplace Room. This room is in the newer section of the property. We stayed in room 6404. Please note our biggest requirements at a hotel are a quiet room, comfortable bed, and good A/C. If you don't care about these items then I would rank it a 4.5. We were so unhappy with the room that we left a night early. Next time we will stay at the Old Edwards Inn if available (which it was not since we booked last minute). Positives: 1) They did the best they could with the existing property. 2) Nice outside fireplaces and game room to hang out. 3) The pool is basic, but better than expected. 4) It appears to look nice in the room, coffee, sink. They tried hard to make it nice with what they had to utilize. 5) The staff was helpful and nice. They accomodated us with a small discount since we left early. 6) Property was very clean and well maintained. 7) Breakfast at Madison's is amazing and very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Negatives 1) The rooms are SUPER Loud. In the 6400 building, I think it is 4 rooms to that entrance. Anytime anyone walks in and out of the building it is very loud and they will wake you up if you are sleeping. 2) The A/C does NOT cool to what it says on the thermostat, so it was hot all night. I don't think this was broken A/C system, I think it is just a system that does not cool to the proper temperature. Also it was strange that there was a seperate thermostat in the bathroom. It blew cooler in the bathroom than in the room. This was a central A/C unit (not the window units like some of the rooms). 3) Bed was ok, not great. 4) No curtains on the windows just plantation shutters so light comes in early.
Folkgroupie (10/5): Wonderful Stay! - Wonderful stay! Staff friendly and helpful with my question about town. Room comfortable and cozy---fantastic bed--mattress and linens made for wonderful sleep. Enjoyed the pool and it's hot tub. Location is walkable to all of the town restaurants and shops.

Having bowls for his water and food in the room was nice so I didn't have to pack them. He loved the treats in the lobby and knew where they were by the end of our trip. We will be back. The free breakfast was a nice touch too.
LJSJ12 (10/5): Back Again and Will Return! - We’ve stayed at this property multiple times, and every time is enjoyable. Wonderful pool and game room for families to enjoy. It’s our go-to hotel if we cannot reserve down the street at Old Edwards Inn. (The new buildings at 200 Main are extremely well-appointed and rival those at Old Edwards Inn.) We will be back, again!
333scotth333 (10/5): Great hotel. - This is an amazing hotel. Great service!! I had forgotten my purse, not including my wallet, in my room and didn’t realize it until 2 days later when I was back home. The room reservation wasn’t in my name so they didn’t have my contact information. When I called the hotel to inquire about it, not only did they have my purse in their lost and found they mailed it to me at no charge.
feliciabeths (8/5): Not as great as I expected - We reserved upstairs room with a fireplace. Fireplace was not working. Strobe light from the fire detector did not help for a restful night and the bed was unexpectedly uncomfortable. Shower was awesome and one could not ask for nicer staff. Room was very clean. Would get a room off the road if possible
carriew712 (10/5): Will definitely go back - We stayed in Building 5, one of the newer buildings. We booked a King Fireplace with porch. Room was beautiful. Calming design. Heavy moldings and plantation shutters. Very comfortable bed and pillows and sitting area. Big TV over fireplace. Shower was incredible. Cute wet bar with mini fridge and coffee maker. The view, however, was disappointing. I wish it would have been clear when we booked that our porch would overlook the parking lot. We were also on the first floor and if you are planning on sleeping in, hope your upstairs neighbors don't get up early. Even with a sound machine we could hear every single footstep. We will request top floor next time and a true balcony. Can't comment on the older buildings but the new ones were extremely nice.
MarkS719 (10/5): Convenient and High Quality - Along with 5 other couples we stayed 2 nights in a large room with a balcony and fireplace. Very clean and comfortable. Front desk personnel were super nice and helpful. Loved the 85’ pool, outdoor fire pits and the community room where our group enjoyed the evenings. They nicely relocated us to the first floor because there are no elevators and my wife is recovering from knee surgery. A short walk to downtown made it especially nice for a stroll downtown. During the day our group enjoyed shopping and hiking to beautiful waterfalls a short drive away. Highly recommend and plan to return.

The only item that was not up to par with the rest was the drinking cups, cheap plastic for cold, cardboard for hot, glass and ceramic would have been much nicer. Dee (8/5): - Corner King w/fireplace was beautiful. Recommendations to make this a pure go to: With the hard wood floors, slippers and robes are needed. Especially in the winter tracking rain or snow inside the room, you didn't want to walk barefoot or in socks. You also had to go to the lobby to ask for bottled water. Instead, please just leave bottled water in the rooms. Those were the only suggestions but big ones.

The property is pristinely clean, the lobby is cozy, the staff welcoming, and the room was seemingly brand new. The bathroom was beautiful and the bedding very comfortable. My only critique is that the shower water pressure could be a bit stronger.

John (8/5): Always enjoy staying here! - The staff at 200 main are friendly and helpful. They are very professional! We stayed in the old building which is nice, beds are comfortable and it’s well decorated. We could heat our neighbors above us so I will stay on the top floor the next time or I will stay in the newer building. I would stay here again.

Shannon (10/5): 200 Main - Excellent Hotel - We stayed for 2 nights in 2 different rooms in 2 different buildings. Both rooms looked to be be recently renovated. The hotel was in immaculate condition. The proximity to Downtown Highlands was a huge plus; everything in town is walkable from this hotel. We will definitely stay here again.

MomofThree (10/5): - This property meets the high standards of the Highlands, even though it is a converted motel. Our room was the Queen Suite: HUGE enough to share for our family of five. The steam shower in our room made it seem like a real vacation. We would stay here again if we were coming to the Highlands.

The furnishings in the room were a definite upgrade from basic "hotel room" furnishings. Location was perfect and within walking distance of shops and restaurants.

Carol (6/5): - The location was excellent but the rooms were incredibly small, especially the bathroom. Our room faced Main Street which was pretty loud for a small town. A lot of trucks seem to travel that route. I also did not like the 2 week cancellation policy. We had a change of plans to meet friends but we’re unable to because we were 10 days out.

Marsha (8/5): Great location - The King room with the balcony was nice, but a little small. The pool was close by and had plenty of chairs and umbrellas. The location was the best feature of all. Within walking distance of great restaurants and upscale shopping. We would enjoy staying here again.

Our room was tastefully decorated with a separate dressing area and a Nespresso machine. The best part of the room was the bathroom! Heated marble floors and an extra large shower with 4 shower heads!! My husband and I enjoyed ending our evening by watching a movie, snuggled up by the fire and eating ice cream. We will definitely stay there again.

Joann (10/5): What a way to start a girls getaway weekend !!! - Fabulous hotel... Beds super comfy and lots of attention to detail. Beautiful fireplace in room too:) They even threw in some of their signature" Dove Bars" for us. Manager on duty was very friendly and made us feel relaxed and welcomed for the start of our girls weekend. Excellent location too, walked to everything:) Will go back again & again...
richard (10/5): Weekend decompression - Knowledgeable staff, was able to guide us to particular restaurants and hiking trails. Rooms were as expected. Pool was amazing 85° as stated. Nice calming music with feet in water sipping a wine from the one of the many selections the hotel has to offer.

Great location allows you to walk to shops and restaurants. Staff was very helpful and the property was very well maintained. Only suggestion would be concerning the loud airconditioner in the room. The rattling sound kept us up at times. Otherwise a great stay

And best of all it is in walking distance of all the Main Street stores and restaurants. Highlands NC truly deserves its nickname of 'Aspen of NC' - Everything is unique and upper class!

Robert (8/5): Anniversary quick trip. - Nice place. Accommodations were very nice. Everything worked except toilet room faucet, which had no water pressure. Comped us $50 because they couldn't fix and offered to move us, which was unnecessary. Only real complaint was no water in the room. Thought that was a little cheap, as were the plastic cups. Overall a nice stay.

Christopher (10/5): Great hotel in a perfect location - Our room was very clean and comfortable. The fireplace was really nice on a chilly night. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. It is in the perfect location right on the main drag so you can walk to all of the restaurants and shops. We would definitely stay here again.
Vivien (8/5): 200 Showing its age. Breakfast at Madison’s super! - Hair in the shower did not belong to either of us! Long black female hair on insidesgowwr curtain and short hair in tub. I asked specifically to remove the feather pillows due to being allergic, even spoke to the hotel to clarify. I was told by staff that they only had feather and foam pillows, ( no fiberfill) so I said foam was fine. They only had feather pillows in our closet, so I had to call the front desk, which eventually they took out the feather pillows and replaced with foam pillows. They did have a Nedoressi machine, which was nice. Decking leading to the rooms was in bad condition jagged sections with paint missing. Bed was very comfortable, room was small, but nicely furnished and suited our needs. We enjoyed the heated bathroom floor and heat light too. Makeup mirror was nice. Rooms were nice and quiet. We loved the Sunday breakfast at Madison’s!!
Franklin (6/5): Quick overnight stay in small room - This is a nice hotel and location, however the room we chose with two queens, ground level, backside of building was too tiny for me. Very small space.
Jane (8/5): Images in photos are much smaller than they appear - The hotel is nicely furnished but the images on its website are deceiving. The rooms, the office, the fire pit are all much smaller than the pictures depict.
