Please note that for stays of 3 or more nights in the Economic Twin Room, Twin Room with Shared Bathroom and Triple Room with Shared Bathroom, towels are free of charge. For stays of less than 3 nights or for guests staying in the Dormitory Rooms, towels have an extra cost of EUR 3.

- Dominique (4/5): - La gentillesse du personnel très aidant et accueillant la chambre spacieuse Je n'ai pas apprécié l'absence d'isolation phonique, le bruit du couloir est dans la chambre...pour 100 euros la nuit pas de recouche : un étonnement de ne pas avoir le lit fait en rentrant. On m'a pris/volé ma nourriture dans le frigo. Expérience désagréable au matin 😐 sans tout cela l'expérience aurait été formidable.

Чисто, уютно, красиво. Очень шаталась кровать. Если снизу или сверху кто-то поворачивается кровать сильно шатает. Ну и шумновато но это из за центрального расположения.

- Pascal (9/5): Pour notre séjour de 2 nuitées, cet établissement s’est avéré idéal pour son emplacement, permettant de se rendre rapid - L’emplacement , le bâtiment lui-même, et évidemment l'accueil chaleureux et aidant de Christina et de son collègue capable de courir derrière vous dans la rue pour vous restituer votre bas de pyjama oublié! La difficulté à pouvoir s’en approcher en voiture, puisque en zone piétonne et l’impossibilité de pouvoir se garer facilement autour de ce quartier étant donné un trafic important et le coût du stationnement.

- Brenda (10/5): Leuk hostel in een leuke toeristische straat in Funchal. - We hebben elke dag ontbeten bij het bakkertje/koffietentje ernaast, heerlijk. De kamer was heel leuk, met een ligbad naast het bed en met eigen sanitair. Een aanrader.

- Constantin (6/5): Nettes Hostel mit vielen Negativpunkten - Die Lage war super und die gemeinsame Küche ermöglicht es, sich mit anderen Personen zu connecten. Bei unserem Zimmer ist planmäßig kein Handtuch dabei. In den Zimmern in der unteren Etage ist es extrem laut, weil das Haus sehr hellhörig ist, der Boden sehr knarrt und sich unterhalb der Zimmer ein Restaurant oder eine Bar befindet, aus der Mann bis spät abends die Leute hört. Außerdem gibt es über den Türen Glaseinsätze, durch die das Licht auf dem Flur das gesamte Zimmer ungewollt erhellen lässt.

- Fanny (3/5): Don't go there if you want to sleep and rest - The only positive things about this hostel were its location in the center of Funchal and the very convenient and clean kitchen, and the clean bathroom. I've been in many hostels in the all world and this one was part of the worst ones (and I rarely complain). The price is very high to be in a 8 beds dorm with terrible conditions of sleeping... I'm not picky when I stay in hostels, but this time I had a really hard time getting a good night's sleep. There's no soundproofing from the outside (the street is noisy at night). The beds are very close together, and the floor is made of old wood, so it creaks a lot whenever someone moves... There are no curtains on the beds (which would be the bare minimum for this price), and the light of each bed + the corridor light is very bright whenever someone leaves the dorm. So, between the noise and the bright light, we’re woken up every 30 minutes starting at 5 a.m., because of people heading to the airport or to watch the sunrise (and I precise that I had earplugs). The worst part is that a housekeeper came every morning around 8:30 a.m. to make the beds of people who had checked out, even though there were still people sleeping. This is the first time this has happened to me in a hostel, and I find it completely disrespectful to make so much noise and make the beds so early in the morning while others are sleeping. They could at list wait 9:30 or 10/11 am like in the other hostels. The result: in five nights there, it was impossible to get a good, restful night’s sleep and it has a deep impact of my holidays - for so much money per night, it doesn't worth it. One last thing: no hostel vibe, it's very difficult to meet people, it's more like an hotel with dorms and rooms.

- Beate (9/5): Schönes Hostel in zentraler Lage in Funchal - Toplage, sehr schönes, altes und gepflegtes Haus mit hohen Decken mitten im Geschehen. Freundlicher Empfang. Alles in der Nähe – das Meer, tolle Restaurants und Bars, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, Busse … Die Betten im 8er- Mehrbettzimmer sind stabiler und wesentlich bequemer als die im 4er-Frauen-Zimmer. Gemütliche Küche mit Wasserspender. Der berüchtigte quietschende Boden. Und es fehlt die typische Hostel-Atmosphäre. Der Empfangsbereich ist stylisch und riesig, wirkt aber etwas unpersönlich, eher wie eine verwaiste Hotellobby.

The noise on the street, the squeaky beds and the fact that there was no nice area to chill. They should add more couches and bean bags for people to meet up and socialize.
- Beate (9/5): Gutes gepflegtes Hostel in Toplage - Ein sehr schönes altes Haus, liebevoll dekoriert. Die Lage ist super, man kommt zu Fuß überall hin. Ich hatte Glück und sehr liebe Zimmermitbewohnerinnen. Wir haben auch einiges zusammen unternommen. Ansonsten ist es nicht ganz so einfach dort Kontakte zu knüpfen, obwohl die Küche wirklich sehr gemütlich ist. Oft war einfach niemand da. Die Mitarbeitenden wirken im Vergleich zu dem, was man sonst aus Hostels gewohnt ist, vielleicht etwas distanziert, aber alle waren sehr freundlich. Insgesamt habe ich mich wohl gefühlt. Ich habe drei Nächte im 4er-Frauen-Zimmer und zwei im gemischten 8er-Zimmer verbracht. Die Etagenbetten im kleineren Zimmer quietschten und wackelten fürchterlich. Im großen habe ich wesentlich besser geschlafen. Es gibt leider keinen Kaffee morgens - bin in Schlafklamotten nach nebenan zur Bäckerei geschlurft. Da war der Kaffee immerhin hervorragend, und die Leckereien erst! ☕️

The location was great and even the rooms facing the main street were quite at night. Very squeaky beds in the 4-bed-dorm (much stabler in the bigger dorm and twin rooms). Laundry room cannot be used independently.

- Annita (8/5): Enjoyed very much and would like to return next year. - The location was excellent if you want to be very central and in a vibrant area. The building was of an interesting design with history of being an old school. all amenities catered for. Bed comfortable Nothing. Be prepared for public noise, floorboard noise and bunkbed sharing noise - all that I had already researched in advance and was aware of and not in expectation of accommodating staff to amend. Only mishap was that on one morning all of our room guests (7) were locked in our room due to one other guest accidently leaving his key in the door from the outside when leaving. Not ideal for fire safety or early travel arrangement's. We were only let out by a different room member hearing us for help as no staff were yet on duty at reception. Maybe a swipe card would be better suited for all rooms as a safety measure.

Cama, en la habitación de 4 la litera que me tocó parecía se iba a caer de lo que se movía, daba miedo subir e incluso dar vueltas por la noche ...tras la primera noche se lo dije a un trabajador que estaba por la tarde, que porfavor si podía bajar a la litera de abajo que estaba libre y me dijo que no que eso se pedía antes de llegar .... se lo enseñé y reconoció se movía mucho y solo dijo se lo diré al responsable ... Flipe de la pasividad con lo fácil que hubiera sido moverme a la cama de abajo que esa noche estaba libre y avisar técnico al día siguiente....pero por supuesto al día siguiente seguía igual .....Además las ventanas no sellan no sé en verano si con la calle concurrida se podrá dormir..

- Jana (1/5): Majte sa radi a ubytujte sa radšej inde, na Madeiru sa nechodí každý týždeň! - Tu len lokalita, ale aj to nakoniec nebolo žiadne terno, lebo v starom meste bolo všetko vrátane suvenírov predražené. Personál - nekomunikatívny mumák, ktorý sa nevedel ani raz pozdraviť nemá čo hľadať v hosteli na recepcii, cítila som sa tam pri týždennom pobyte veľmi zle, nežiadúco. Vstup je na kód, ktorý mi neráčili ani poslať, ale to, žer bude recepcia len do 3 poobede v deň keď som sa mala ubytovať mi nezabudli napísať o 2 poobede! A keby ste chceli mať náhodou kľud a ticho tak na to, hoci si rezervujete samostatnú izbu, ZABUDNITE! Izba vyzerá na prvý pohľad a na fotke pekne ale zvukovo je to to isté ako keby ste boli ubytovaní v reštauračnej kuchyni na dlážke, počuje hostí čo hovoria, personál, všetky zvuky akoby ste boli priamo pri nich! Bonusom je už len drevená podlaha, ktorá pri každom kroku niekoho na poschodí vydáva zvuk, ktorý zobudí aj mŕtvolu a ešte sa otriasa aj vaša posteľ. Seriózne tento hostel je jedna nočná mora pre tých čo prišli dovolenkovať a oddychovať, hoci na prvý pohľad vyzerá pekne. Kuchynku hľadajte na vzadu na najvyššom poschodí, veľa vecí nemá alebo nefunguje varič, takže zbytočný výlet a rušenie celého osadenstva. Chýbajú tam základné veci na varenie takže treba nosiť všetko vrátane soli :( hoci si myslím, že veľa vecí tam turisti nechávajú. Mám milión fotiek z Madeiry a jednu na ktorej sa najviac usmievam, je tá keď odchádzam z tohto hostela po týždni pobytu v ňom. Bola som nútená kvôli zrušenému letu hľadať iné ubytovanie na 3 dni a až tam som chvalabohu zistila ako dokáže byť Funchal pekný a prevádzkovatelia príjemný a nápomocní a kde sa rada vrátim, ale tomuto hostelu sa budem v budúcnosti na kilometre vyhýbať.
- Anastasiia (4/5): I don’t think it worth the money. - The positive thing is the location, very central, as well as the size, they also have a garden and lockers in the rooms. I don’t think it’s worth the money. The beds are old, uncomfortable, very shaky and noisy, every time you move just a bit, it moves. No curtains make it hard to sleep. Pillows feel very cheap and lumpy. Apart from it, poor sound isolation. In 2 nights I barely could sleep. They have hairdryer which is very old and slow. Reception doesn’t work full time, so there are also limits until when you can leave your luggage. Considering I paid 80+€ for 2 nights, which is the price for the whole apartment a bit outside of Funchal city centre, they didn’t even include a towel in this price, I don’t think this place worth the money paid. I chose hostel as I was travelling alone and was hoping to catch up with other travellers on the way, but I didn’t see any common areas where people would hang out. Also I found the stuff a bit rude, as we had situation when a person in my room accidentally took my bed. I politely informed stuff about it, they started complaining about it in quite harsh manner making in a big problem as if the world will explode because of it. The other girl was upset because of the attitude receptionist gave her. I would not choose this option again.

- Sofie (7/5): - Nice place, good location, twin room was spacious. The floors were extremely creaky and you could hear every step in every room, hallway and common spaces. Facilities were cleaned regularly, but didn't really feel clean. Fine for a hostel.

- Judith (9/5): - Die Lage des Hostels ist unschlagbar, man kommt zufuß wirklich überall hin und ist abends im Getümmel der kleinen Gassen, wenn man sich einen Platz zum Essen sucht. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit und schnell zu erreichen, die Zimmer sauber und geräumig. Das Haus ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und bietet alles, was man für einen Aufenthalt in Funchal braucht :) Die Matratzen sind eher weich, die Betten nicht super stabil, sodass man beim Umdrehen immer mitwackelt ;) Mit Ohropax ist auch die Straße unterhalb abends gut auszuhalten und man kann ohne Probleme schlafen.

Personalul a fost foarte dragut, cel mai probabil ma voi mai caza la ei, mai ales daca imbunatatesc conditiile :) Din pacate baia de sus a fetelor chiar nu e ca in poze. Perdelele de la dus erau cu mucegai, pe jos in dusuri aveai paleti de lemn fiindca nu era gresia pusa, era ciment. 2 din 3 toalete se tot blocau, chiar necesita o imbunatatire. Nu am mai facut poze, dar recomand sa se foloseasca baia de jos, tarziu am vazut ca aceea era foarte ok. Mi-ar fi placut sa fie si plase de tantari la geamul din camera, deoarece au tot intrat tantari.

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and I met some great people during my visit. The kitchen was a highlight - it is fully equipped with everything you need to cook. The hostel is very calm, clean, and well-maintained. The location is also perfect, just a short 5-minute walk to the ocean. Nothing! Everything was perfect and I have no complaints.

- Aruna (8/5): - Location is centre and very reachable , The hostel was clean. The common areas were clean and toilet and bathrooms were clean most of the time. The staff were friendly and helpful. Just that hostel is located in street where restaurants are located and it gets a bit noisy in the night till 11 or 12. Looks like its an old building. The floors were a bit squeaky. Bunk beds were comfortable but if someone on top bunk turns it disturbs but luckily no one else were there on top bunk while i stayed.
