- Susan (3/5): Disgracefully overpriced for inadequate and even hazardous facilities - Great location in the historic district, walking distance to restaurants. 1) Hotel failed to notify us of the massive construction project and noise opposite the hotel until a day before arrival. Fortunately workers weren't working during our stay, but not warning us at booking was DECEPTIVE. There was a white sound machine in our room so obviously management is aware of the problem. 2) No coffee set up in the room. This is standard even in lower price chain hotels. 3) Bathroom design makes it impossible to turn on and adjust shower without standing inside, risking freezing or scalding. Bathroom floor gets soaked. 4) Bathroom has handicap bar out of reach, and slippery floor. 5) Bathroom doesn't have a single towel bar! Just a few hooks. No place to dry a towel or wash cloth, so you are forced to get new towels every day and waste water/laundry. Less critical but extremely disappointing: parking is an inconvenient walk from hotel, and overall the hotel exterior and common areas are tired-looking. Staff is hit-or-miss with breakfast staff very friendly and helpful, desk/managers less so. In summary, a disgracefully overpriced hotel for inadequate and even hazardous facilities.

- Sarah (7/5): - The location is great and courtyard is lovely. The rooms were spacious and had a great little fridge and safe. They had a nice complementary wine and cheese hour each night. It was hot in the room and the AC clicks on regularly to compensate but it’s very loud and doesn’t stay on long enough to make a huge difference. There was continental breakfast but the only hot food was powdered or boiled eggs.

- anne (10/5): Historic elegance in the heart of city - Perfect location, central to everything. Comfortable room, exceptionally friendly staff. We had a problem with the AC in our room; it was dealt with immediately. We made regular use of the water filling station, and the lovely courtyard.
- Mary (8/5): Overall enjoyable stay. - Breakfast included, wine and cheese happy hour and milk and cookies at night. Nice touch. Air conditioner was loud and constantly cycled on and off.

The car park wasn’t too far from the hotel, and it was convenient enough to drop luggage at the hotel then drive to the car park. The happy hour/free cookies were a nice touch. We were quite disappointed by the breakfast at the hotel, which had quite limited options (even for a continental breakfast). The staff seemed less welcoming than others we’d encountered during our trip, and like others have said, the construction work was noisy from 7am onwards (though of course that’s absolutely no fault of the hotel!). If we returned to Charleston, we’d probably choose a different hotel in the same price bracket, as this felt overpriced for what it was.

Very efficient, responsive and friendly. They had a nice happy hour every evening which was very nice. The AC in our room was loud and we used ear plugs.

- Amy (7/5): Convenient location but there are better options in Charleston for the price. - Convenient location; coffee in the lobby Shower has a half door so bathroom floor was flooded. Had a small private balcony but no furniture and wood railing was rotted and seemed extremely unsafe. Checkout was at Noon yet housekeeping was pounding at the door at 9am (no communication on what rooms are ready to be changed over)

Construction next door (I know it's temporary) but it was very noisy in the mornings. Offsite location for parking and $25/day fee not included.

There were ample good restaurants that were close as well as good shopping close by. We enjoyed the large breakfasts and the evening wine and charcuterie very much. The staff was very friendly and personable and quick to help. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning unit was very loud.

- X7930AOnicolef (2/5): Demolition & construction - I would like to give this hotel a positive review because of its history & location, but I don’t recommend it. They don’t tell you this on the website when you book, but there is demolition going on right outside your door/window/room beginning before 7:00 AM. It’s insanely loud & shakes the building. They’re demolishing the site next door to begin construction on a Four Seasons, so who knows how long the construction will go on. No compensation is given for the inconvenience. They didn’t inform me of this until they sent the confirmation a few days before arrival. This should be a disclaimer on their website until construction is finished.

Unfortunately, a major hotel was being rebuilt right next door and despite the front desk manager’s assurance that the construction only took place during main business hours, we were woken up at 6:20 each morning to loud construction activity with bulldozers, moving trucks, etc. our room actually shook with the construction each day. In my opinion, the hotel should have disclosed it and at least offered some sort of retribution to compensate for the disruption. If you have a visit soon, you may want to rethink this choice.

The room was spotless, very comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The staff were incredibly kind, warm, and always ready to help with anything we needed. One of the highlights was the fantastic courtyard – perfect for enjoying breakfast in the morning, and in the afternoon they offer wine and cheese, which made the experience even more special. The entire atmosphere of the hotel is charming and welcoming, and we would definitely come back. Highly recommended!"
- KATHRYN (9/5): - Staff was incredibly nice and responsive. They accommodated our early arrival and held our luggage in the interim. Any question we had, they addressed. It's a beautiful inn and a great location. Parking was also very easy. Even with construction, our room was quiet. We loved our outside balcony. Snacks and breakfast were wonderful.

- JKabo (8/5): A happy experience, overall - We spent four nights at the Meeting Street Inn, and we were happy with our choice. Good location, very comfortable bed, good shower pressure. (Yes, the floor gets wet; we were provided with two bathmats, and it was fine.) The air was a little stuffy until the AC had been running for a day or so. The room was clean, but the rug sheds lint, seriously. They have said they plan to replace the rugs. The setting is nice; we enjoyed the wine & cheese happy hour on the patio and definitely appreciated the all-day availability of coffee in the lobby. Breakfast was good enough: eggs and sausage or French toast, with good yogurt but often no berries to put in it. There is construction next door. The demolition didn't bother us too much, but there was definitely dust, and they started pounding the ground at 7:25 am and went on until about 4 pm. If we had paid to get a balcony, we would have been unhappy about it. This was early March, and they seemed to be almost done with the demolition phase, so it may be OK in a few weeks. We didn't have any noise problems other than that (we were on the top floor).

- Pamela (8/5): First time visit to Charleston and enjoyed it very much! - It is centrally located in Charleston, everything is within walking distance for a 2-4 day visit. Demolishment of an old apartment building/motel, next door, woke us up in the morning and kept going all day. So, not pleasant to sit outside. Will be building a four seasons hotel complex in it’s place

- W2765JNrachels (2/5): Do not stay here! - This Inn was horrible from the beginning to the end. At first, another patron was given our room keys and walked in on us while we were in the room. Then of course our keys had been deactivated so we had to get new ones. The shower did not drain, and the hairdryer was broken. The rug was absolutely disgusting and the pillows were flat. To top it off the air conditioner was so loud that you couldn't hear the tv, but not loud enough to drown out the notice of the construction next door!
- Sergio (10/5): Worth it! - The location of the hotel was perfect. We had a car and only had to use when we went to a nearby town. The complimentary breakfast in the mornings, wine & cheese in the afternoon, and cookies & milk at night, were the perfect touch for this quaint little hotel. It was super close to the market and king street, all the cool restaurants, and over all a really good area. The room was just perfect for our family staying a few days. There was even a small pool if you go in the summer. We stayed in the ground floor and we never heard anyone. We would stay here again!

Historic building with modern amenities. Staff was very attentive and the free breakfast and evening beer,wine and cheese reception was much appreciated. All the charm of historic Charleston just steps outside!

The location was great except for the vacant lot right outside our room that had a lot of loitering. When we asked for another room because ours was dirty we were charged more.

Spare yourself a headache and don't book this place at least until demolition amd construction is over. The carpet on the room couldn't be dirtier. Restroom was ok clean and beds were comfy.

There was no prior mention that this was occurring. The website suggested that the guest rooms had balconies with chairs, which they did not. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience. See above Likes: the gentleman who handled our luggage and vehicle . It would have been a good idea to provide a discount or voucher for a free activity or meal to offset the inconveniences

Bring ear plugs as the workers on the demolition next store start anywhere from 5: AM in with backhoes working in earnest by 7 AM. Neighboring construction looks like it will be in place for a minimum of the two+ years.

- Eileen (1/5): I do not recommend this Inn. - The inn is in downtown Charleston The hotel is next to a major construction site. They are tearing down a building next door. Construction began at 7 am and went on all day. The hallways are outdoors and they would not turn on the lights, so it was pitch black after sunset. Large metal carts were parked in the hallway and we tripped over them. The lobby reeked of stale cigarette smoke. The wine at the wine and cheese hour tasted like watered down boxed wine. The staff were rude from the minute we arrived until the minute we left.
- Merritt (8/5): Great location - We enjoyed the outside patio and the use of a microwave. The room even had a sound machine! We couldn’t make the volume on the TV much higher. It was hard to hear/understand the movie with the loud noise of the air conditioning unit.
- henryd673 (10/5): New Experience in Charleston - This was our first stay here although we have been to Charleston many times before. Our room was very comfortable and clean. The hotel is located in an area that is close to many restaurants. Their breakfast is included in the stay.

Parking was $25 a day and was a long way away. We weren’t told the location until we had already paid for it. The rooms were cute, but the carpets were dirty.

- Shelley (1/5): - It was dirty and not at all what the pictures online looked like. As a women traveling alone I did not feel safe sleeping there…even to the point I put a table infront of my door. I woke up at 7am to construction..very loud! The elevator barely worked and smelled awful! They don’t even offer bottled water. If you pay to valet your car, you will get it back, parked next door in a one way tiny parking lot, I almost dinged my car trying to get it out of there. So it wasn’t even truly valet. I 💯 do not recommend! Put updated pictures online, inform guests before booking of construction work, have the valet actually deliver your car to the front of the hotel, and maybe ask guests how their stay was.

- amywO6041YO (6/5): Parking stinks. Shower is bizzare - The shower only has a quarter glass door. There is absolutely no way to not have water get onto the main floor. I moved the shower head into the corner as much as I could. Banged my elbow on the faucet. Floor and everything on it was soaked. I have no idea how this is a thing. There wasn’t even an option for a bath. Insane. Lady at front desk was rude ! Parking is a block and half away.

They also were promoting a happy hour between 5 and 6 pm with wine, cheese and fruits, included in our stay. If that wasn't enough, at 8 pm they had 'cookies and milk' in the lobby........a kettle for making hot chocolate, and a tray of cookies if you needed just a little something before bed. Overall, above and beyond! Street noise was an issue, getting better after 11 pm but started again at 6:45 am. If you are a light sleeper, maybe bring ear plugs.

- Virginia (7/5): Fine for a short stay. Adequate but not great. - The location is great. If you are not on the first floor, the view from the balcony is of an abandoned motel with a burnt-out car parked in front. This is not a view one expects in Charleston.

When asked to get an extra pillow, they gave us the pillow and the cover separately (from the reception) for us to make it (and seemed very annoyed by the request). Breakfast is very simple.

Then she said the room wasn’t ready, then came back after talking to someone and said it was ready. A lot of confusion and unorganized feeling. - Laura (5/5): Great location, inflated prices and outdated facilities - The central location The outdated facilities, the inflated price because of its location, the old and uncomfortable beds, the lack of proper light blocking curtains so the room fills with fluorescent lighting at night
- Jennifer (10/5): Our stay overall was fantastic. The Inn’s staff was friendly and professional. - The breakfast was very good; a great way to start a day. Bacon was cooked beautifully as was the sausage. The other items offered for breakfast were also very good.Saturday’s coffee was perfect. We enjoyed the courtyard and the jacuzzi. A wonderful place to relax after walking around downtown. Overall, the architectural design and colors were a perfect throwback to an era long gone: romantic. The double beds were too small for two people. The scrambled eggs served on Thursday were lacking in flavor and seasoning. The coffee on Thursday and Friday mornings was very dark and bitter. Thankfully there was a lot of cream available!!

- Karra (9/5): Great Inn with a lot of character, great location and staff. Go to the happy hour and you will make friends:) - We loved the small Inn feel, the location and staff. Everyone was lovely. The happy hour was delightful and brought guests together in a communal way. People playing cards, talking etc. It was really nice. It was really nice but a few small things like broken locks on doors and mold around the windows; it just needs a little love. Honestly though this didn’t bother us because the pros outweighed the cons.

- Minhong (8/5): - Its location was amazing - walking distance to many places of interests. Also very much enjoyed its charming garden. Although the breakfast items were limited, they were sufficient and good quality. The facility was kind of aged. The room we stayed in was near its HVAC system and was a bit noisy. The lighting upon entering the room was out.
